OOC: Wabanaki Coast!

The further Jura traveled the more she felt her whole body drooping. She was beginning to lose the hope she had gained when arriving in this area, the most populous area she'd found since leaving her homeland. Over the last season she'd make a loop; walking all the way to the coast and then a loop around the peninsula and back. All the female had to show were aching paws and a few acquaintances. She could feel the loneliness that had been her constant companion since her sister's death growing and growing.

Jura found herself trekking over a particular rugged are by the time the sun started to dip. The weak rays had managed to melt some of the snow blanketing the land and a mostly dry falt rock caught Jura's eye. Trudging over to it, the female decided to rest for a bit. In her secui form she lay down, stretching out to catch as much of the sun's warmth as she could before it dipped under the horizon. After weeks and weeks on the road she had lost weight, meaning that as winter continued to cling to the land, she continued to lose weight. Any kernel of warmth she got she had to fight to keep. Traveling at night was the best solution, keeping her muscles pumping helped her warm up a bit at least. Perhaps tonight she might be able to build a fire...

This was to be her first trip outside of the Vale since it began it's tenure on the mainland, flanking either side of the St. Johns river. Snow still latched onto the ground, giving the landscape a sickly mottled appearance. The grass that poked out from the blanketing was grayish and unappealing, something that only make Saga wish for the summer months a little harder. It was more frosty than snowy as of lately, as the ground clear up the sky fogged over and frost flakes clung to the girl's two tone pelt, creating an illusion of there being even more whiteness to her.

She was easier to make out against the dark night for it, a far cry from the pitch black whelp she had once been. Every day a new spot of white seemed to appear and mar her pelt further. She didn't quite remember where it started first hand, he father had always claimed that a mark below her eye just appear one day and "blessed her". "What a load of shit..." she huffed.

Quite suddenly, there was the scent of another in the area, which caused her to pause. They were far enough away from the borders of the Vale, and yet Saga still felt apprehensive. She reasoned with herself that, as an aspiring diplomat, it was her job to assess the situation. Therefore she threw her head back, and let out a call.

All too soon the sun dipped below the horizon, blotting out the last of the light and the last of the warmth. Jura lay, head on the cool rock and stared up at the heavens, eyes tracking the swift-moving clouds blocking out her sight of the deep blue sky. She sighed. Honestly, she could not be bothered moving yet, even though the wind was slicing as it blew through her ivory fur. She considered closing her eyes, despite the risks, but immediately changed her mind when the howl of another nearby chased away any drowsiness she felt.

Immediately Jura stood up, the wicked wind ruining any genuine chance she had of reliably catching the newcomer's scent. Her amber eyes scanned her surroundings, turning almost completely around until she spotted the figure away in the distance. She was small, her fur black and white. Her call hadn't conveyed much, questioning if not neutral. Oh god, what if she had accidentally stumbled over a border or something?! Eyes wide, Jura shook off the snow from her fur and started moving towards the other female, barking to acknowledge her.

The black and white wolf was younger than she anticipated. Jura stopped a respectful distance away, "Hello,"

Stealth was the preferred method of both her and her father, as well as her middle brother. Her eldest brother had took it upon himself to become a warrior of sorts she she'd seen him, and she assumed he'd kept at it. The dark offered her additional cover, just like the mist did, but tonight there was no mist. No familiar ghostly embrace. It felt like a significantly longer period of time that the Vale had stood for that it had actually been, and she felt a little lost now she was back in the real world.

Soon the stranger arrived. Solid white and golden eyed, the woman reminded Saga of her father and a pang of mourning radiated in her chest for the relationship she'd likely damaged when she abandoned the Outpost. 'Hey,' she echoed. The stranger stopped a small distance away, and Saga was silently glad of it. 'What're you doing out here?' The dappled Mistwalker asked, her brow furrowing.

Jura looked the girl over with a calmer gaze. She was a mixture of black of white, not unlike her sister had been. Again, a twinge of loneliness made itself known deep in her gut. Jura pushed it to the side. The female didn't seem threatening, if anything she just looked confused about why she was here. Well, that made two of them. The other returned Jura's greeting and asked her the very question Jura had been wondering herself.

"Nothing, really." Jura paused, aware of her harshness but unsure how to soften it. "Um... I'm just wandering, really. What about you?" her speech was a bit stilted and awkward. Since she set off on the road she hadn't exactly met many people raring for a conversation. She could count on one paw the number of other souls she'd encountered in the past year. All but one had been within the last season of travel, in fact.

Suddenly, Jura remembered her panic from before, "If I've passed a border, I apologise, I wasn't aware," she urged. Really, how pathetic was she. Almost stuttering in the face of normal conversation.

Saga frowned, 'I live here'. Around here would have been more accurate. They were still some way away from the border, but still close enough for the woman's presence to peak the mottled hybrid's interest. 'Near here, anyway' she elaborated, 'You've not passed the border, but you're close enough to it to interest me'. She wouldn't have been surprised if the woman had strayed further towards the borders, for they'd been set a mere two days previous and Saga was sure many people who traversed the area often enough would be surprised to notice a new obstruction.

'Who are you?' the girl asked suddenly, her tail set high, a sign of control but without any outward aggression. Bright eyes scrutinized the stray that stood before her, a fairly unremarkable creature without markings to mar her pale coat. She didn't smell like a pack either, and like Saga, she appeared lean and over traveled.

The young female seemed critical, her gaze making Jura's skin prickle. Goodness, she was so out of practice. Jura took a small step closer, smiling slightly as the female spoke. She truly was quite young, seeming to retain some of the fluffed roundness that all pups had. The evening was truly turning chilly now, gusts of winds buffetting against her side.

Jura felt her shoulders drop a bit when the other reassured her she hadn't passed a pack's border but instead implied that she was instead near her own. With this new tidbit of information, the wolf's ears perked up in interest.

"My name's Jura. And yours?" she questioned. "You are a part of the nearby pack then, I presume. I don't suppose you'd be able to tell me about it? I'm not very knowledgeable about the area."

'Saga' she introduced herself, 'D'Angelo'. Her surname was offered up as an after thought, it had never meant much to her. As a child at the outpost it had been a minor talking point, and once she left it meant next to nothing and she'd all but dropped it. Now she'd returned to the land where her name was familiar, she found herself mentioning it again once more.

Jura had her own questions, and although Saga expected them she was caught slightly off guard by them. She pursed her lips, but she answered them without question. 'Mistfell Vale. Among others, but ours is the nearest'. In all honestly Saga wasn't particularly knowledgeable about the area either, and she was even younger than the stranger. All she had to go one was the whispers she'd heard and the thing her father had told her. 'The others are Sapient, Krokar and Salsola' the girl reeled off the names, 'The other's are selective, but we accept almost anyone'. The mottled girl paused, gauging the stranger's reaction, then she continued, 'We have three houses, each with their own values'.

Jura waited. Saga D'Angelo then. Few names, including her own held significance to the female. When she left the pack of her parents behind it had not been on good terms and so she'd left her surname, 'Oir', behind too. The younger female didn't look to be overjoyed to be answering Jura's questions, but never the mind. Jura smiled in gratitude as she informed her a little about the packs of the area. She was shocked to find there were that many. How on earth had she managed to blunder around the lands cluelessly for so long?

Mistfell Vale was the pack to whom Saga belonged. And it wasn't selective. Jura felt her smile grow. This could be a place for her. Jura nodded as the other, rattled off her information, listening intently. She was definitely curious.

"And what are the values of your house? And the others? Jura queried. It had been a while since her chest had felt so light. "Do you like it there?"

Part of her rallied against answering Jura's questions, but rationality decided that the arctic pelted woman posed little of a threat and, more importantly, seemed receptive to the tales Saga told of the Vale. So she continued, 'Wolverthorne values loyalty and resilience', the mottled girl's voice betrayed a hint of pride, a tell tale sign that that was where she herself belonged. 'Elkenfrey, the open-minded and creative', Saga rattled the words, learned by almost by heart, such was her pride. 'Hawkesond is for the passionate and motivated'. She finished, and bright yellow green orbs directed themselves at her companion. 'You don't have to tick all the boxes, of course' Saga added, recognising how her motivation and argumentative nature could have easily swayed her towards Hawkesond, or her understanding and premature wisdom could have drawn her towards Elkenfrey. 'We go by what we feel fits best'.

The next question came as a surprise, a more personal question than the mottled girl was expecting, and it showed on her face. The two tone's brow furrowed in mild confusion, but she answered without delay, 'Of course, I wouldn't be there otherwise'. It was a the place she felt most secure, even in it's relative infancy. It was, ironically given it's misfit nature, the one place she'd found she fitted in without compromise, without promise of eventual change. 'We're not far from the borders...' Saga chanced hesitantly, gesturing loosely over her shoulder with her spotted muzzle, 'If you'd like to speak with Felix or Calia'. A moment passed before Saga spoke again, expanding on her previous words. 'They're the leaders. The Ravenking and the Nightstag.'
