The moment was nice between them. Izual, oblivious to Crucifix’s obvious torment reveled in the moment that he could caress her face, be this close to her, talk to her and tell her how he felt. The magic in the moment was enough to help him block out her daughter, who was dangerously close despite Crucifix coming between them before.

But the magic would not last. From behind Crucifix, the young Lykoi reached around, grabbed his wrist, and cast it from Crucifix’s face. Taking his thrown wrist, he balled it into a fist and snarled at the young woman. Now Crucifix was the invisible one. Roughly, he reached around Crucifix and wrenched the young woman from her place.

As he pulled the adolescent towards the water, he snarled, ”I warned you. I did. It’s too bad you have no fucking idea who you’re dealing with, girl. But you’ll learn. Soon enough.” And then he violently pushed her – face-first – into the hot springs.

While it was an act of violence, it was uncharacteristically light for Izual. Anyone else, and he would have jumped in after them and made sure they drowned, too.

”Crucifix, call off your girl,” he growled, turning back to a scorned mother. ”I don’t want to have to do anything you’ll regret. Tell her to leave us.”

If Crucifix had done that in the first place, the girl wouldn’t have had to take an unnecessary dip into the ‘springs water. Now, it would have been the smart decision.

A single thread in a tapestry, though it's color brightly shines
Can never see it's purpose in the pattern of the grand design.

Neither one of them were prepared for what happened next. Both mother and daughter were just trying to look out for each other, but Faith's interference had caused something to spark within Izual. Crucifix knew fist hand what the male was capable of. Even males that could fight back were reduced to nothing but bloody, rotting messes by the time that he was done with them. She couldn't allow her daughter to meet the same kind of fate as the one she had seen before.

When the male pulled Faith aside, worry began to fill her head. Now what? He was going to kill her.. she was so convinced all of this was going to be for nothing. Panicing, her tail pressed between her legs, tears beginning to form her in her eyes, "Izual.. please.. just leave.. her alone.. I'll do.. what you.. want.." But her words fell deaf to him. The daughter was face to face with the madman. Eyes widened as his words reached her ears. What was he planning to do with her?

In an instant, her whole body hit the water, mother following along to the edge to make sure she would be alright. The darker daughter's head came back above the water, eyes narrowing to the man that threw her in as he addressed the brown woman. Either Faith left, or she would face something far worse. As her head turned back to her mother, she could see the pain in her eyes as tears streamed down her cheeks. Fear had gripped her, but she was still being her mother.. trying to protect her, "Please.. Faith.. go back.. to your.. father.."

The daughter was awe struck. Why would she put up with this? "Mama, I can't do that. Who knows what he'll do to you."

"Faith.. I've seen.. what he.. can do.. I almost.. lost you.. and Hope.. to Amariah.. Your father.. is sick.. and I.. don't know.. when he.. will get.. better.. I can't.. lose you.. or Hope.. Please.. just this.. once.."

There was so much pain. Crucifix knew she was putting herself in a bad situation, but what could she do? Allow her daughter to continue and end up dead? Or do this to herself so she would be spared? If there were any sins she committed, then she would lay her soul before god to cleanse it again. Right now.. it was all she could do.. her only option. Faith finally climbed out of the water, holding her mother tightly, "Alright.. I will mama.." The dark daughter walked past her teary-eyed mother, stopping at the male's side, "You won't get away with this."

And with that, she ran.. and was gone.

Crucifix kept her back to Izual, still in tears and holding herself now. She had no idea what would be in store for her, but as long as her family was safe from his wrath.. she would endure it.

As Crucifix addressed her daughter, he rolled his eyes. So dramatic. The Basilio daughter acted like he was going to kill his Crucifix. If she had any idea what was going on between them, she would have left long ago. Her mother was in good hands here. She was safe, and perhaps the safest one present.

Intense orange eyes watched the daughter - Faith, what a fitting name - as she finally turned to leave. Though, she paused before him to utter words that didn’t make much sense to him or to the situation that was about to unfurl. He snorted in amusement. ”Get away with what exactly? Getting rid of you?” he sneered, and as she continued along, he waved good riddance to her.

Finally, she was gone.

It was just him and Crucifix to share some alone time together. He looked over and found her sobbing. ”Oh, you’re so dramatic. Why are you crying now?” He gently placed his hand on her shoulder, and attempted to guide her towards the Springs. ”Faith was right, you know. You seem overwhelmingly stressed. Sit with me in the springs for a while… the water do wonders for stress.” There was a fake friendliness in his voice that dripped from his words like honey in the hot sun. He would never hurt Crucifix on purpose, though. She should know that.

A single thread in a tapestry, though it's color brightly shines
Can never see it's purpose in the pattern of the grand design.

Faith may have been trying to start something, but her mother just wanted all of it to end. She begged the Lord to just let him spare her family.. she would take whatever he gave to her, just don't let him hurt her family. She could hear the hasty steps of her daughter making their way back to the mansion. No doubt she'd be telling her father about this. The last thing she needed was for Izual and Basilio to be at each other again. As if her mate didn't already have enough problems..

The brown woman's head slowly turned to the side as the male made his way over to her, his hands moving along her shoulder as he guided her towards the springs. Even in the water, her tail clung to the area between her legs, and for now she couldn't stop the tear. Dramatic? How could he believe that was what she was being? Maybe the waters would help with the stress, but he sure wasn't.. Would he even listen to her if she tried to explain it to him? Only one way to find out, "I'm terrified.. Izual.. I know.. what you.. can do.. to others.. I just.. worry that.. you will.. kill all.. of them.. leave.." She paused, recalling something that had happened earlier on in their lives, "Maybe.. leave.. their blood.. over my.. walls.." Oh god she couldn't take it.

She could understand the hate for Basilio, but why her daughters? Was it just because they were his children too? If Izual really did have some kind of care for her, why couldn't he accept them as her daughters too? "Izual.. I know.. you hate.. Basilio.. but why.. hate Faith..? She's done.. nothing to.. you.. She's just.. trying to.. protect me.. and you.." Another pause. She had to be careful with these next few words, "You scare.. me.. You're.. unpredictable.. I worry.. you might.. hurt me.. too.." She had to be honest.

He managed to get them both situated in the springs, and Izual imagined as soon as Crucifix felt the water, her worries and sadness would melt away. However, they didn’t. She still looked as pitiful as ever, and she cowered away from him. He couldn’t understand why. He had not done anything terribly bad in front of her ever… What – killing a bunch of assholes outside of Inferni? Wasn’t she tied up? He killed them for her. What – throwing her daughter into the springs? She was coming between the two of them. He did it for her - and even though in a healthy mind, that wouldn’t make sense, to Izual, all he did to keep him and Crucifix close was for her.

Basilio would be next – but if things kept going the way they did, he wouldn’t have to go through the trouble. Although, he wouldn’t mind taking advantage of Basilio’s sickness just to enact revenge. He would bring Crucifix Basilio’s head. And then maybe beg for forgiveness and ask her for her hand in mateship. He was the conqueror after all.

Izual’s way of thinking was much different than Crucifix’s – or anyone else, rather. He believed by showing his strength, killing those around him, it would show that he was fit - fit to be mated, fit to father offspring, fit to be insane. Fit for anything. It certainly seemed that way with Charlie, anyhow. The woman marveled over how Izual killed. Why couldn’t his Crucifix be the same? Why did she have to be so frightened? Why did she have to cry all the time? Why did she have to be so weak?

Terrified? Why? I never hurt you…” Izual asked; the alarm in his voice was not fake. She seemed to have a skewed - but in some ways correct – view of Izual. He wasn’t sure if she had stolen a glance at him killing others in the forest (aside from that one time he rescued her), Basilio had told her things, or her imagination was just very accurate, but she knew things that she shouldn’t have seen. Her fear of him was justified, but only if she knew what he had done behind closed doors. From what he thought she knew, her claims were outlandish.

Though, one thing she said put a ghost of a smile on his lips for just a second. Blood on her walls. Well, yes. Everyone in Inferni was subject to some redecoration. It was much better than decorating the walls with their blood though, wasn’t it? He didn’t see what was so bad about it.

Ignoring the bit about Faith, Izual closed the distance between him and gentle Crucifix. He took her in his arms in a gentle embrace. He didn't seem to notice the way her body trembled within his grasp. ”Oh, my fearful, little Crucifix. I’ve never hurt you, and I’m not going to start now.”

There was a long pause as he soaked in the moment with Crucifix in his arms, pressed against what is usually a blood-soaked chest, though the waters washed all that away before. "Tell me about Basilio's illness." He tried to strike up conversation, but he was terrible at it. Despite wanting to forget about the man, he was all he could think about. The mighty pygmy dying from a little head cold. How sad.

A single thread in a tapestry, though it's color brightly shines
Can never see it's purpose in the pattern of the grand design.

Crucifix knew that she was weak. She was a shame on her own family, a family built upon coyote pride and bringing wolves to justice in God's name.. usually through death. Her strength was in her faith, and that was something Izual would never be able to understand.. how could he? To him, faith was meaningless. To her, it was everything. She did everything she could to prove not only to her family, but to herself that she belonged, that she could be something. Look at her now.. trying to make peace with wolves.. unable to fight.. crippled fear in some cases. What a failure she was, and maybe that was why God was turning his back on her. Would she end up in Hell as well?

Green gaze slowly began to focus on the man. Why was there such alarm in his voice? How could he not see that all the things he had done might turn someone like her off? Was it simply because he believed that she was weak? Why? Because she didn't coat her fur in blood? Because she couldn't kill? He may have never hurt her, and he might have saved her.. but forcing her to kiss him and the uneasiness he gave her just put her on edge.. and the hatred for her mate just made it even worse. He did anything he could to get back at Basilio..

Her body began to tremble as he took her into his embrace. She knew he was trying to be gentle with her.. and she acknowledged it in her mind, but her body wouldn't agree with her. Again he claimed he had never hurt her. Not physically he didn't.. Was that all that mattered to him? What he could physically see? Obviously he couldn't read her mind, but was there nothing about this that seemed off to him?

Ignoring her daughter, he moved on, wanting to know more about Basilio. Of course he wanted to. Even with the warmth of the waters around her, and their bodies within reach of each other, all she felt was chills. How could she reason with this man? Was Basilio all he really cared about? Ears moving down as well as her head, gaze moving back along the water. What could she do aside from answer him? He wouldn't even acknowledge her question about Faith, "He's.. very ill.. He still.. has many.. symptoms from.. the sickness.. I just.. don't understand.. why they.. are taking.. effect now.." She paused, her body seeming to sink down into the water, "I feel.. as if.. God is.. punishing me.."

As much as she didn't want to admit it, the male was giving an effort to her and at least trying to make conversation.. even if the topic of choice put her more on edge. Please dear Lord let him protect her mate and let Izual fixate on something else besides his grudge.

(300+) sometimes Izual has good points, and sometimes he's ignorant AF. lol

Izual’s eyes rested upon her as if she was a naïve little thing that didn’t know anything about the world. And perhaps it was partly because Crucifix seemed that way. Her knowledge of how things worked in the world was always cast to her gods. Why were they punishing her? Why didn’t they answer her? What did she do to them? It was a hollow form of existence. It made it seem like Crucifix ignored all the signs around her and turned to an entity that didn’t exist for help and support.

Why would she do that when Izual was right there and waiting to help her. Why wouldn’t she come to him? Ask him for help? Why wouldn’t she care about how she made him feel? His eyes rested upon her pretty, delicate face as she turned down towards the water. He didn’t move to take her in his arms again. Instead, his thoughts went to Basilio and thought about that time he tried to help him in the mansion. Little spitfire Basilio. Even in his weak state, he wouldn’t let Izual near him. It made the dark-hearted coyote smirk, snorting a puff of amusement.

”You and my brother are alike in those ways. Thinking there’s a god somewhere out there, protecting you and watching what you do, weighing their decision to help you on that. Belial learned it the hard way, when will you? There is no god anywhere. No one is punishing you. You didn’t do anything to do deserve this. It’s just happening. Nature is taking back that little abomination. Did you really think that all four feet of him would survive this long? Basilio might die – probably will – and he will leave you to your next best suitor, me. And I will take up where he left off and do better than him at fulfilling all your needs.”

Of course Izual didn't understand.. didn't care about her faith. There were many practical thinkers and those who didn't believe in God, but that was something she had been willing to accept. Hell, if she was willing to show her sympathy to the wolves her family told her were gripped by sin, then why should she think otherwise about anything else? Regardless, it was still the biggest, most important trait to her family line: their faith. It was not something she could let go of, just assume that it didn't exist. It did exist, but God was punishing her for sins she didn't know she had committed. He could tell her so many times that it wasn't real, but that wouldn't get her to let go of it, not something that had been engraved into her mind for generations.

The brown woman remembered the male's brother.. it had only been once before, but he was quieter than his beast of a brother. Perhaps Belial would have been able to understand her concerns. Izual was not the right one to talk to about this stuff.. perhaps it was a mistake trying to open up to him.

Crucifix's eyes widened, head twisting up to gaze at him with his words. Him? Her next suitor? He seemed so certain that her mate would perish.. Would he? No, she couldn't believe that she was going to lose him, not after all the work she had done trying to take care of him. Just as soon as it had come up, it moved back down, her green gaze getting lost in the water. Even she could not deny that he was at least trying to be gentle with her.. and in some way prove himself to her.. but something just didn't feel right. Was it still the fear from what she had to witness in the past? Because of him strange mannerisms? It was something she couldn't quite put her finger on.

It was too late to try backing out now. One hand, tentatively moved out of the water to along one of his arms, yet she still couldn't bring her gaze back up to him, "Please understand.. Izual.. God is.. important to.. my family.. I believe.. he is.. there and.. watching over.. us.. but I.. do respect.. that you.. do not.. believe in.. him.." She paused, taking a deep breath before she continued, "How would.. you fulfill.. my needs..?" How could he do better than Basilio?

And Cru will do her best to be somewhere in the middle of the madness. +400 words.

She didn’t react in the way he thought she might. Instead, despite everything, she was pretty accepting of his rejection of her religion and her gods. She couldn’t really be serious, could she? Despite telling her a bit of what Belial had gone through, she held strong. She wouldn’t consider his word against her almighty savior to be a serious one. This puzzled Izual. Was there even evidence that her gods have helped her in the past? Answered her calls for them?

He knew he could do better for her than them. Anything bothering her, it was gone. Anything she needed, she’d have it. Any support she needed, he’d be there for her. Would he listen? Probably not. But he’d be there, lending an ear and maybe half of a brain. Maybe.

She had asked how, and he had wondered himself. What would a girl like her need from him? He began replaying his thoughts from an earlier moment, hoping to please her and make her consider him as her savior for when her mate was no longer there to protect her… from him. ”How else? I’d be there for you, whatever you’d want.” Being there seemed to be the only thing Basilio did for her, keeping Izual at bay. Oh, and offering his seed for offspring. Izual would be glad to help with that...

Izual said nothing.. for the first time since she could remember meeting him. Was it possible he was at least trying to show some form of respect by keeping himself silent? No.. he didn't seem like that kind of male. There was still resentment for what she believed in, but at least he was not saying anything more.

It was strange. The Bellum had always been unpredictable when it came to being around her, but never like this. Was this an actual attempt to show some form of true feelings or was all of this just an act because of something about her that made her attractive? Probably the later of the two options, but even she was uncertain. Doubt had always plagued her, and a situation like this was no exception. Even so, she tried to push the evil thoughts from her mind and try to focus on what was going on. Maybe if she just talked to him for a while longer, he would let her return to her mate and daughters.

He'd be there for her. Was that enough? Maybe for him.. Could she accept that should something ever happen to Basilio? It was certain that he would have the strength to protect her, though his methods left her.. uneasy.. then again.. it's not like the de le Poer's weren't like that in their own right. Just because they were meant to save the wolves from sin didn't mean they weren't brutal with their methods.

But there was still one other problem.. Faith and Hope. It was clear from earlier that he would never accept them, even if she were to consider what he was telling her. Would he take drastic measures to get rid of them? Would he tolerate them just for her? Where did they fall into the mix? She already had enough to worry about when they were kidnapped, and she didn't need them going through more pain than they had already endured, "What about.. my daughters.. Izual..? Could you.. ever accept.. them..?"
