Both Masquerade brothers were in the library, for once. The younger brother, Spencer was sitting at one of the tables and flipping through a book, stopping every few pages to write something down on a piece of paper. He was focused, his brown eyes scanning the pages at a quick speed. His brother, Garrett was sitting at another table, his chair tilted back as he flipped idly through a book. He wore a leather jacket half-zipped over another shirt and jeans. They were without the companions that had come with them and the darker brindle was without his normal weaponry.

Garrett decided to accompany his brother to the library since he was bored. Maybe he could see what kind of books Casa di Cavalieri had and see if any interested him. There wasn't many interesting texts, but he managed to find a book about some kind of twisted world where books were burned, weird. He had only scanned through it before abandoning it to find another more interesting book, and less disturbing. He managed to find a book with pictures and words, the masked bastard vaguely remembered reading them as a child. They were called comic books and they were something he had been interested in when he was a child. But, as he grew, the dog warrior became busy with his work as an enforcer.

The jade-eyed fighter was interested in a comic about a character called, "The Green Arrow". The story was interesting and he liked the character. He read through the book as he noted to look for even more of the books. He remembered reading comic books about another hero called "Batman" that had interested him as a youngster because of the deeds the man, Bruce Wayne did as himself and his alter ego. The brindle bastard was almost done with the book.

Another cycle of the moon passed, and steeped the land in sleep and decay. There was much to do, and the increasingly shorter days did not help matters. Everett helped reap the crops in the pack's fields, with sleeves bundled around his elbows as he bustled about the kitchens and pantry. With that taken care of, the scholar departed to the library as an idea for a recipe kindled in his mind. His entrance would be preceded by a smell that many (particularly hungry) canines would find irresistible; salt, meat, herbs and spices. He paused on the periphery, with his head canted to one side. There were others within the room, and his senses did not recognise them.

He swiftly went about brushing down his clothes and combing his spiked mane before he entered. Luckily for him, a column of shelves blocked him from sight. Everett glanced at the recruits, both male and younger than he. He wondered idly when they had joined, and assumed it must have been fairly recently if this was the first time he had noticed them. The silver dog was known to spend considerable amounts of time in this one particular place, and strove to make it a comfortable, peaceful haven. How could anyone fathom the ancients over the din of a spar?

The recruits were absorbed in their own reading, and it felt impolite to intrude. His sense of curiosity would have none of it however, as he drew closer to the pair. Icy orbs fell upon the items they were reading, and a brightness lit his features as he noticed the lighter of the two appeared to be making notes. He watched the jade-eyed one as he poured over brightly coloured pages that relied on imagery to tell the story. He turned his attention to the task at hand, as a single finger trailed along a line of books until it stopped at the one he was after. Everett tucked it beneath one arm as he turned toward where the pair were sat.

"Hello, I do not believe we have met before. My name is Everett." The male bowed his head and smiled. "How has your time amongst the Cavaliers been?"

Garrett had an interest in comics like these. Especially the ones about superheroes and vigilantes. Though, most of the comics were about superheroes which was great for him. He read through the comic and then flipped it back to the front to read it again. It was about a man named "Oliver Queen" whom was a rich guy that stopped criminals. He was a bit like the hero, Batman but he was a lot different from the dark crusader. The dog warrior noted the man's sidekick which was a person named "Speedy". Was he like Batman's Robin?

Then, a British voice spurred both males from his thoughts. Spencer looked up first, seeing a small, blue and white dog. He was dressed rather well and the man introduced himself as Everett and asked how they were doing. He knew his darker brother would immediatly try to flirt with the man and it took all of the scholar's power not to sigh out loud. He saw the masked bastard look up from the comic he was reading and could see the gears turning in his head.

The man that had spoke to them was rather tiny. The Masquerade fighter had met a lot of giants in Casa di Cavalieri, like the cute flower guy and had met a rather hot Anatheman. But, the blue eyes and the strange fur was rather striking to him. Not to mention the fine clothes. His peridot eyes looked at the man with an interested gaze. "It's been good," The peridot-eyed assassin said and then added, "Lots of nice things to look at, won't you agree, mon frère?"

The brown-eyed male almost threw a book at his brother for that stunt. Instead, he decided to be a bit more polite and mature. But, he shot his brother a hard look and then turned to Everett "Casa di Cavalieri has been welcoming." The lighter brother said. "I'm Spencer Masquerade-"

"And I'm Garrett Masquerade." The hybrid enforcer said, cutting off his brother. "At your service, peu d'amour" The man added.

"Pleasure to meet you, prepare to bleed"

The pale sibling was the first to glance Everett's way, as an array of emotions rippled across his features. The gentleman turned to regard his jade-eyed companion, as the apparent source of the shift in mood. Had he perhaps interrupted something? The idea was ridiculous; the point of a library's existence was to enlighten others. Unless, communal education was a unfamiliar custom to the strange males. He was aware of eyes roving across his form, and whilst such open staring was not uncommon to the petite male, he was left in a state of discomfort. The chocolate furred male was the first to speak, and to the scholar's surprise, he dipped into French as he referred to his friend as 'brother'.

A jolt flooded his mind at the sound of the language being spoken. His mother's family had come from those lands, and French was used on par with English in his homeland. The comment seemed to have upset the one who identified himself as Spencer, a particular turn of phrase that might have had hidden meanings. It was strictly true, the lands Casa claimed were beautiful and offered a great deal of scenic views. "Indeed, mon amie. Perhaps you would be interested in the gardens? They look wonderful in the colours of autumn."

Everett went to express his relief that the brothers felt welcomed when Spencer was interrupted. The jade-eyed charmer introduced himself as Garrett, and rather openly referred to him with a pet name. 'Little love'? What on earth did that mean? The two men were practically strangers to each other. Was this customary to where the Masquerades hailed from? It seemed rather odd to call an Luperci one was unfamiliar with a term of affection. Perhaps it was a friendly jest, or a thinly veiled insult. Everett's lip quirked as he thumbed a ring idly. "What ever could you mean by calling me 'little love'? I am sorry. I am not used to being referred to that way by strangers."

Spencer's eyebrow kinked as the man seemed to know French. Or he could just know some random phrase, though his pronunciation was on-par. He smiled as the man suggested that they check out the gardens. There hadn't been much greenery in Portland and he wouldn't mind some fresh air. He should check that place out if it was that good. He had spent most of his time in D.C. in the library. Maybe he could spend some time outside for once. "I'll be sure to check it out," The lighter brother said.

The possibility of Everett knowing French did nothing to stop Garrett from flirting with him. He smiled and called the man a pet name, and that confused the guy. It seemed like no one in Casa di Cavalieri knew about flirting. That was fun since he liked seeing people getting flustered. He chuckled and said, "With your looks, no one has called you that? Il peccato" The Masquerade bastard said with a smile.

"Mio Dio, Garrett. Non puoi?" The brown-eyed man asked as he looked at his brother. This was a train wreck and he was only staying as to not leave the poor Moreau to the dark brindle. His brother didn't seem to have an "off switch" and needed a verbal filter. The younger Masquerade shook his head and said, "So, how is Casa di Cavalieri in general? Any tips for us newcomers?" The hybrid scholar asked, trying to change the conversation.

The corner of Everett’s pale lips rose as Spencer accepted his offer of inspecting the gardens. The pale sibling seemed more sensible and agreeable to his eccentric brother. Who knew what to make of his honeyed words and flippant manner? Speaking of which, Garrett grinned back smoothly in an expression the Cavalier was beginning to find mildly uncomfortable. Silver-touched hairs bristled subtly, as his skin crawled beneath his thick coat. Jaws parted to allow his tongue to caress the his muzzle, whilst the tip of his tail wagged slowly.

A brow quirked at the dark wolf-dog’s hearty chuckle, as a question edged in a foreign tongue followed. Everett’s ears swivelled forward as he tried to guess the nature of the unfamiliar words that Garrett had spoken; their musical sound hinted at Italian, possibly. Their meaning was utterly lost to him. From the casual way they flowed from the green-eyed male, it was likely more teasing or banter. “I am sorry, gentlemen. I do not follow what it is you are suggesting about my appearance.” He folded arms about his chest as he sighed lightly, his gaze downcast. “If you have something you wish to share with me, Garrett, have at it.” He added wearily.

The lilting accent was taken up by Spencer, a trance of anger in their tone. Glacial orbs flickered upward to meet his jasper eyes, a shadow of irritation in their depths. The pale brother confirmed Everett’s suspicions with a shake of his head, and a much-appreciated change in conversation. “Thank-you, Spencer,” he whispered, before raising his voice to include both Masquerades. “This pack thrives on it’s strong work ethic. Work hard and you will progress. Do you think you are capable?” His focus turned to Garrett, as a placid expression settled across his face.

I'm so sorry for the wait! +200
