A small figure walked along the borders of Anathema. She seemed to be in Secui form, judging by her body structure and features, but she didn’t look like a normal one. Her chest wasn’t very wide, nor broad. She didn’t seem to gain any muscle mass from the halfling form. She was skinny and looked very delicate. Most of her height seemed to come from her legs, almost like a newborn fawn. Her tail was long and bushy, like a fox. Her ears were long and were pricked. Her face was narrow but her muzzle didn’t taper. Her hand-paws actually had a thumb.

She was pale, as silver as moonlight. The color didn’t come from her jackal heritage, but her wolf blood. A grizzled saddle ran down her back that came from her jackal heritage. It was a darker shade of silver and had black hairs scattered through it. Her saddle ended at her tail and she had a white tail-tip. She had a shorter mane than most and it was colored black. Her eyes were mismatched shades of green. The right was darker than the left.

Despite being in a feral form, she did wear clothing due to her short fur that was adapted for the desert, not Canada. Pale cloth starting from where her neck met her chest went to her rump-the bottom stopped at her waist. It was lined with fur and had a hood. Her legs were covered with fabric-leg-warmers-and stretched from her wrists to where her appendages met her body. A grey and white scarf was wrapped around her neck. A small wooden pendant was also on her neck and was carved in the shape of a crescent moon. She also carried a satchel.

Avinalora was looking for trees on Anathema’s border. During the winter, she relied on trees because most of the herbs she used were dead. Birch was good for wounds, willow was good for pain, beech was good for bones and frostbite, and there were many trees that could be used for healing. The vixen needed to make sure her pack had the resources needed to stay well. She wanted to make sure that both of the new clinics in Anathema were stocked because a lot of people needed treatment.

The fox maiden was so caught in her thoughts as she walked towards a pine tree; she didn’t pay attention to the ground. Even if she was looking at the ground, a lot of details missed her. She couldn’t see the ground clearly, even in her Secui form. The moonlit jackal often tripped over rocks and other things on the ground that she couldn’t see. When she was running, she sometimes ran into skinny trees that she couldn’t see.

A yelp echoed through the winter wraith as the ground disappeared under her paws. She fell forward into a hole u. Luckily, she had a soft landing, not a sharp one. She got up, checking to see if she was injured. The jackal mutt was uninjured, thankfully. But how was she going to get out?

The hole had dirt walls which made climbing out hard. The silver lady rose to her hind legs, trying to see if she could get out. She could reach the edge of the pit with her paws and the dirt walls prevented her from getting out. She was stuck.

”Well….shit.” The moon-washed medic said out loud. She sat down, unsure of what to do. Maybe, she could wait for someone to come here on a border patrol? But when did border patrols come around? Well, she was in deep trouble.

The monochrome fox waited, internally cursing.

The dark furred giant of Anathema was on his last dose of the herbal remedy that had been supplied to him by the vixen healer for his joint pain. The concoction had been working wonders for the dark male, but after today, the behemoth would need to find the moonlit vixen and ask her for another batch. Lux didn't know how he even considered his previous way of life to be living. Every day he had struggled to be comfortable in bed, his own weight bearing down on him. Every morning he'd bare his teeth in pain as he fought the stiffness in his bones to get himself upright again, and every step he took was almost harder to manage than the last. With Avinalora's help, the "tree wolf" had taken his life back.

Every day was taken in stride now, as his strides no longer brought the beast great pain, any soreness that remained within him was far more manageable than how it had been. He no longer lumbered, but trotted along in his halfling form, his preferred shape when it came to the task at hand. Hunting. Lux brought food to the pack storage often enough, but he'd decided recently that he wanted to have meat stocked within his house as well. The fact of the matter being that Lux was quite large, and being so, the wolf-dog had to consume a lot of food to maintain his body and all it's functionality.

Venturing out into the outskirts of the territory, the onyx giant continued to think about how he owed so much to the silver vixen. He wanted to find some way to repay her for restoring his quality of life to him, all the while the wolf-dog sniffed around for any game trails. Soon, the beast did pick up a scent, but it was not that of prey, but of the fox maiden herself, the one who Lux had been meaning to see and to thank as well as to request a new batch of medicine for his joints. He scanned the surrounding area and didn't see the woman, but he could definitely smell her. Searching around a bit on his halfling paws, the dark Goliath eventually came to look down upon a deep hole in the ground, left behind by the roots of a tree that had pulled itself from the earth in the latest snow storm, and low and behold, in the bottom of that hole sat none other than the moonlit maiden herself.

"Heya Short stuff... You... need help with anything?" the mammoth male asked the tiny Secui that sat at the bottom of the hole, folding his front legs so that he could peer further into the space that had been left by the uprooted tree.

Avinalora didn't have to wait long for someone. She heard footfalls, massive pawsteps that spoke of a large creature. She briefly wondered if Stormblade had come? She sniffed the air, trying to see who it was. There was no washed-away scent of Casa di Cavalieri which crossed the Irish warrior out. She did recognize the masculine, wolfish scent to be Lux's. An judging by the sound of his steps, he was in some sort of four-legged form. The vixen didn't know if he had found her, but the wolf's steps were coming closer to her which was a good sign.

The fox maiden looked up to see the charcoal-colored face and yellow eyes of the Anatheman giant. Well, at least she had found someone capable of getting her out of this mess. She had been giving him herbal remedies after she had heard his discomfort when he brought the black and white wolf to her. The moonlit jackal knew that larger Luperci often had joint problems as the aged and she had mixed some herbs together to make something that would relieve his pain.

The Volac was lucky that he seemed to be in a feral shape. She didn't feel comfortable of someone carrying her in Optime when she was in a four-legged form. People carrying her by the scruff was fine, but anything that involved lifting her four-legged body with hands was not. The silver lady didn't know why she felt this way, but she just didn't like the thought at all.

"No, I need a medic." The monochrome fox replied dryly in response to the charcoal beast's question. "Of course I need help, Tree-wolf." She could have said something a bit nicer, but being stuck in a hole was kind of embarrassing. Most could have gotten out of this predicament, but she couldn't. So, the winter wraith used sarcasm as some sort of bandage for her injured pride.

With a half smile, the dark giant laid his massive frame down by the entrance to the hole in the ground and crossed his fore paws in front of him smugly. "Wow, you waiting for someone else to come help? This tree wolf didn't hear the word 'please'." The charcoal behemoth grinned and gave a short chuckle, his heavy tail thumping against the ground for a short moment before the giant pushed himself up off the ground with a slight grunt of effort. "I'm kidding, I'll help, but you should really try getting a bit taller next time, it would probably help." The dark furred Anatheman spoke, feeling the need to tease back since the moonlit healer just loved to give the giant nicknames poking at his height every time they spoke.

Giant halfling front paws planted firmly at the edge of the crater in the earth, and a massive head reached within. Strong and large teeth reached within to gently grasp at the back of the weightless silver vixen's neck, loose skin catching between massive jaws before the brute pulled her up and over the ledge, letting go once she was safely over the edge and out of harms way. "So what were you doing out here anyways? I was just thinking of going hunting but I was meaning to stop in and see you... I ran out of that stuff you gave me for my uh... issue... Think I could get some more soon? I know stocks must be low with it being winter and all but that stuff really has been helping me." The onyx giant spoke, sitting back on his haunches, as he towered over and looked down at the baby deer fox. She looked so wobbly with her build, on top of the fact that she was blind, sometimes he felt so bad for the healer even if he wouldn't admit it. Pride was one of the only tings some people had, and Lux for one wouldn't be the guy to steal it from her or anyone, teasing aside.

Sarcastic Avi is back

Avinalora's head tilted to the side as she saw the big shape that was Lux lie down. If he was going to expect her to drag herself out of the hole, he was wrong. She didn't have that much strength and only one working hind leg. And the vixen didn't want to injure any of her other appendages. She tried not to get injured since that might damage her mobility. She was lucky that those fights with the loners and any other strenuous things she had did had not resulted in injury. That was why she tried to stay away from anything that might be dangerous, but sometimes things happened. Like falling into this hole.

The fox maiden's ears twitched as she heard the slight grunt of effort that came from the charcoal giant as he got to his paws. Did he need some medicine for his joints? That wasn't much of a problem for her due to her constant trips to Black River Reserve and other places to find herbs. Even though it was winter, the jackal medic had turned to herbal trees to keep her stores well-stocked. Trees had as many uses as there were herbs and her mother had been quite thorough in teaching that to her protégé. Her adopted mother's journal detailed many types of trees that one could use to treat ailments.

And the comment on the silver lady's height elicited a sarcasm-laced response from her. "If I somehow manage to find some kind of way to make myself taller, I'll let you know." The winter wraith replied with a flick of her tail. There was no way in hell she would somehow get even a few inches in height. Even if Fate or Moirai wanted to be nice to her, she probably wouldn't grow as big as an average coyote, or even jackal. "I'm already on my third winter, and unless that gods want to be nice, I don't think I'm going to grow past 'small jackal'". The snowy fox added.

The giant Anatheman reached into the hole and secured his jaws around the argent Volac's scruff. She was used to this sort of thing, Jarix had to drag her away from fights before and he often used this method when she was in her Lupus form. This probably was the first time she had been carried in her Secui form, but the yellow-eyed Seere was also in his halfling form and was massive. The Anatheman medic briefly wondered if he could have lifted her if he was in Lupus. He probably could since she was so small.

Once the moonlit jackal was out of the hole, she was bombarded by questions from the giant wolf. He asked her why she was out here and for more herbs. She was surprised that he was a hunter. He kind of seemed more of like a warrior than a hunter. The ex-Midnighter didn't exactly have the best grasp on Anathema's ranks, but she did know that a Seere was something that dealt with domestic things.

"I was out here looking for trees." The moon-washed medic replied, answering his first question. "And there are trees that had medical uses so I don't think I'm going to be low on medicine unless there's a forest fire or something. So, I can give you some herbs for your joints."

It was always a charming time talking to the small medic, she was sassy and sarcastic and liked to poke fun at his height, and thus they were a perfect match. She did seem a bit bitter every time the two encountered each other, but Lux figured that he would probably have been bitter as well if he wasn't tall enough to look anyone in the eyes. The dark giant had simply smirked and let his tail wag as he heard the silver vixen's comeback to Lux's little joke about her lack of height.

Once the vixen was out of the hole, Lux had asked her what she'd been doing there in the first place, and the healer had continued on to say that she was out collecting herbs. The dark giant simply couldn't resist making another joke, and with a broad grin he questioned, "Really now, did you find any in the hole?" And with that the dark behemoth took a quick step back so that the silver maiden couldn't hit him. The charcoal giant let out a low and rumbling laugh, but just as quickly his demeanor would change to a laid back smile, and a slow wag of the tail. "Could ya use any help? I could carry somethin, escort ya out of any further holes..."

Avinalora rolled her eyes as Lux asked her if she found any herbs in the hole. She hugged and her foxlike tail whipped as she pulled at the straps of her satchel. She really wished she had managed to get out of the hole herself, but it was helpful with the giant. She recalled a book she had read, a book called "The BFG" which as about giants and a place called England. The vixen did know that BFG stood for "Big Friendly Giant".

"You wanna check, BFG?" The fox maiden asked with a raised eyebrow and pointed her brush towards the hole. The wolfdog could check for himself if there were herbs in there. She didn't know if she should return to the clinic before she fell into anymore holes, or she should see if there were any herbs. The jackal raised her nose slightly and sniffed the air.

And then the tree-wolf asked if he could help the winter wraith. By then, she had sniffed out a tree, a beech tree. She limped away from the smoky Anatheman to a tree a few paces away. She managed to pull out a knife from the satchel with her hand-paw and then began cutting strips of bark from the tree. The beech was good for bones and she had willow bark in her bag.

The moon-washed maiden then placed the strips of beech back into the satchel and then she walked back towards her pack mate. She could give him the herbs as a thank you for helping her. And he said that he wanted to help her out.

"You can walk me back to the clinic and I can give you your prescription." she said in a dry tone. She had learned the word from some book she had read, and it seemed like a word for her to use.

Without even waiting for the behemoth to follow her, she padded off towards the Thackary.
