Once again, the cold evening breeze herded the young jackal back to the Eastern Watchtower. In this unfavorable time of year, Jaketta found it more suitable indoors. She hadn't yet acquired the proper attire for such horrendous weather. Her arms folded over her bosom as she walked fast against the wind of a possible oncoming storm. The thought of a warm fire and food made the trip back home somewhat bearable, so long as she reached her destination shortly.

Jak could see the tower looming in the distance complete with the warm glow from inside. A smile spread across Jak's lips as she paused momentarily. She turned, towards the light of the quickly falling sun just as a rush of wind collided with her. What came with it was the smell of freshly lit herbs, opposite the direction she was headed.

Blood and gold orbs glanced back at the tower that awaited her arrival, and then in the direction the herbs had come from. That was one smell she deeply associated with her witchery and could not pass up the opportunity at meeting yet another fellow witch.

With the decision made, the blood laced witch began marching towards the smell, combating the wind the entire way there. When she reached the entrance to the stranger's home, her delicate hands rapped on the door gently. It was bold to come one's home, but if she was right then this should be well worth it. Jak was always looking for opportunities to expand her social circle.

as a note, they don't use a door but use a thick, old curtain c:

Delfina hummed as she walked in a neat circle around the firepit in the shared home. Her hand sprinkled herbs into the fire used often for cooking their shared meals. Isabella sat on the nearby bench, hand on a polished, curved wood cane as she watched with a sharp eye. The woman was aging, that much was clear, but the once-Ambassador and Crone was still as cognizant of everything as ever. Victoire and Garsea were not in the main room, though they were just as likely to be away from the ruin home as being in their room. They were over a year and still had not found their path, something the grandmother did not push despite their aunts increasingly narrowed glances at the wasted potential.

The ritual was not one of the Heiwa heiress's favorites, as it was just a basic one that her mother no longer felt comfortable performing as her balance was no longer as perfect as it once was. Nearly a decade old and the graying matriarch still commanded her eldest - and only living - daughter's respect. It was given with all the duty a loyal child could give, but there had always been a worship of their mother between the two sisters, which continued despite the tragic end of the other.

A knock at their doorway made the humming stop immediately and both pairs of sharp eyes rise up toward the curtained door. The cloth hung all the way to the floor to keep the chill winds out so no feet could be spied in a gap that was simply not there. Isabella's eyes narrowed as she nodded at Delfina, who casually dumped the rest of her handful of fragrant herbs into the fire. They sputtered as she walked to the curtain.

Delfina flung it open to reveal the daughter of the foreign witch, an adult in her own right. The Heiwa woman's brow raised assymetrical as she studied the figure standing nearly a foot shorter than she.

What brings a witch daughter to our door? came the still deeply warm voice of the Heiwa Matriarch, perched on the stone bench with all the grace her life had given her. Delfina fought the urge to roll her eyes or even to glance at her mother, keeping it on Jaketta. I suppose you'd like to come in? she asked plainly, though she could feel the haughtiness leeching into her voice. Despite that, she stood to the side to wave the youth in.

OOC: I was unsure, thank you for the info! <3

A slight feeling of regret washed over her as she knocked and the pleasant humming ceased. She knew she might be overstepping by coming to another witches home at this hour. Jak could hear the familiar crackling as more herbs hit a raging flame. Several moments passed as stood in the cold. Jak just began to wonder if she should turn and head home as planned just as the thick curtain was pushed open hastily.

An older voice spoke from inside the humble home, questioning her reason for being here. Jak smiled sweetly, her eyes stealing past the much taller woman that had opened the curtain, to the forest eyed woman on the bench. She had stark features and an appealing, contrasting pelt that would steal anyone's attention. Jaketta offered a courteous and slight bow to the older woman, who if she guessed correctly, was Isabella Heiwa. Through her lessons, the Nocturne woman learned about most Salsolans' identities. It came in handy. I apologize for the intrusion. I couldn't resist the smell of herbs and the possibility of a ritual.

Once she spoke to the elder Heiwa, Jak turned back to Delfina, who Jak recognized as a fellow Confidant. The woman's tone wasn't nearly as friendly as Isabella's, but she welcomed Jak in regardless. Thank you. The wind nips viciously tonight. If I am overstepping, I can go. I was just on my way home. The blood laced woman continued to smile, her hands clasped in front of her. The warmth from the fire caused a chill to run down her spine. The fire beckoned her to stay, but she would only do so if she was welcomed.

please let me know if the PP of Jak coming inside was out of line and I'll edit!

Isabella chuckled warmly, fingers tapping around the polished cane top. Delfina, meanwhile fought the strong urge to roll her eyes at her mother's elderly behavior, mostly due to the overwhelmingly aged responses she often displayed. But, what sort of behavior? It irritated the Confidant that she had no clue what sort of behavior an aging matriarch ought to display, but she only had her own grandmother's priestly behavior to contrast to Isabella, and she still seemed to meet the same performances the old woman had herself.

Two pairs of sharp eyes settled on the young guest standing at their doorway. The diction suggested she would welcome an invitation to enter. Isabella's gaze landed firmly on the elder Confidant. Obedience was demanded.

Come inside, sighed the Heiwa daughter, stepping somewhat to the side to allow space for the shorter girl to enter. The curtain fell with a heavy ruffle against the stone doorway, blocking the chilled winter wind from permeating the space any more than it already had. The fire, flickering from the breeze, stabilized once more as the air settled. The smoke escaped from a raised corner of the tarp roof, lifted upward by a very long stick secured to the edge.

Delfina moved to her satchel of herbs. Powdered and whole leaves were flung from her pinched fingers into the fire and the room filled with the sent of singed rosemary and mint, juniper and lavender. She started her walk in circles again, staring at the flames in a deliberate attempt not to discuss what she did.

Even if she disliked the simplistic magic she slowly unleashed.

Was it the smell that brought you in, child? asked the matriarch, waving the girl over to where she sat at a diagonal from the doorway.

There was a sharpness in the air after she offered to simply turn and go, both witch's gazes falling on her. Delfina turned to the senior witch, and Jak's blood and gold hues followed. A silent command was given, one that Jaketta understood clearly. The blood laced witch turned back to Delfina before her gaze returned.

There was slight attitude from the younger Heiwa, but Jaketta ignored it and obliged. She stepped into the immediate warmth of the home. She ran her hands along her arms, attempting to sweep the chill off her form. It wouldn't take long now that the heavy curtain was allowed to rest in its most favorable position, closed.

Jaketta began to slowly circle around the pit with the still blazing fire. Her nose lifted smoke filled with the intense aroma of burning herbs. There was nothing quite like it. She moved out of Delfina's way as she began to circle the pit as well, stopping her own motion to allow the woman to pass freely. It was clear the younger female was not quite thrilled to have her here. It seems Jak would simply have to change her mind. Until then, the Nocturne would endure the searing edge of Delfina's standoffish energy.

Relief came with the question Isabella directed towards her. A sweet smile graced her lips as the older woman waved her over. She was careful to stay out of the younger witch's way as she moved over to where she was directed. Yes mam. Its hard to ignore the familiar aroma of collected herbs. Its one of the best smells in the world. She paused briefly, watching Delfina walk steadily around the fire. She wanted to ask further questions, but did her best to avoid prying. Maybe she should have just left, despite how kind the older Heiwa was.

Delfina shot the girl looks whenever she threatened to be in the way of her circular path. The girl had good sense to keep out of the way, though, so she did not verbally lash out but merely shot those looks and kept on walking. It was simple magic. But the younger Heiwa was not in the mood to entertain, mostly because her mother's own mood was a particularly involved one at that moment and she felt somewhat trapped to oblige her aging matriarch.

Isabella gave a slight chuckle and waved a hand for the young girl to approach her. Her eyesight was not affected by age at that point, but she was the type to deeply, carefully assess what she saw before her. Proximity only helped to delve deeper into the depths of the soul, after all.

Delfina kept on circling by the fire, enjoying the heavy, heady aroma of the herbs she burned. The magic her sister preferred was virginal and innocent, something the remaining Heiwa sister did not particularly prefer herself. Blood offering, sacrifice, drugs, these were the things that she swore by and used frequently.

There was a place for herbs, but usually alongside an offering made to the fire alongside of them. On their own, they were so weak that they needed so many passes. That was why she was dumping a whole bowl of them rather than a mere handful onto the flames with a rabbit bleeding after death.

I agree. It's also quite easy to do when the need arises, said the woman simply, eyeing her daughter briefly as she continued on that leisurely pace. Which herbs can you identify in the smoke? asked the old woman, settling well into the old teaching mindset. Delfina raised her bowl, tilting it somewhat, to hide from the girl's sight. It was a question from her own youth and she would not give her the opportunity to peek and cheat.
