A change is gonna come

Kira

OOC: Abi riding right on in. Feel free to PP her finding Kira :)

IC:
Abigail’s hands smoothed her blouse. Her sea glass eyes were narrowed, pointed down toward a belly which had once been flat but no longer was. Dressing was taking longer these days, mostly because the Grand-Duchessa had to fuss with her clothes to stretch them over her rounding stomach. Having never been in this situation before, Abigail had had her doubts – but there was no escaping it now. She had always been slender, and now it seemed that that rounding stomach was staring back up at her. She was expecting pups.

Her hands shook as she reached for a cloak which had once been oversized on her. Abigail would’ve been lying to herself if she’d told herself she didn’t want this. She had always wanted a family of her own, always been fond of children and patient with them. She knew she would make a good Mother. Still, there were complications to be thought of: their Father living in a different pack, for one. The timing could’ve been better, too; with the planning for new housing underway, Abigail wanted to ensure that she could still have her say and play her part. She would just have to do it with children at her feet.

And then there was the nagging thought that perhaps Kira didn’t want this. They hadn’t exactly planned it, and Abi knew it would come as a shock to her gentle herbalist. As ever, it was the not knowing which made things feel worse.

The Grand-Duchessa stomped out to the Court's stables through grounds glittering with frost. The world was beautiful and Abi was certain her children would only add to its beauty. She just had to get through this visit and then she would know, one way or the other.

The journey whizzed by. For once, Abigail didn’t slow or halt Heritage as they approached Casa, though she did throw up a howl to let Kira know she was there. Curious eyes be damned – soon there would be very tangible proof of the fact that Abigail and Kira had been together.

The stallion moved towards the Fort at a brisk walk – trotting was decidedly uncomfortable – and the woman’s eyes were uncharacteristically sharp as she dismounted, hurrying away from Autumn’s chill and towards Kira’s scent.

Well, here he were agin in the medico rooms. Thankfully as ever were the case it were not due to any type of injuries that he may have sustained from anywhere - those he were naturally more than capable of dealing with himself rather than worth bothering Morty over - nor were it to do with any herbs that he in turn often brought over this way, well maybe it were part of the reason the herbalist were here. But mostly it were to for the simple pleasure of enjoying the company of Casa's resident medico for although Kira did tend to see the dark furred female that were Morty on a near regular basis it were a rarity in which they would spend any significant amount of time with the other to simply chat; this were all the more reason for them both to enjoy such a chance as this before other duties called them away.

"So . . . . Are you going to tell me who it is you have been sneaking around seeing then Kira my dear? Or am I going to have to start teasing information out of you? You know I will." Came the somewhat michevious yet inquisitive questions from Morty, green eyes meeting green eyes briefly as the wolf female cast her gaze briefly over to the silvery male counterpart as a soft chuckle escaped the male while tail flicked casually before a slight shrug caused his shoulders to twitch visibly. "Now what makes you think I will say anything? Now or anytime soon Morty?" Kira countered surprisingly cheerfully; well who would not be given the circumstances?

It were just as the pair were to continue their conversation that Kira's ears perked and twitched both in pleasant surprise and curiosity to the point that Morty simply chuckled and waved her hand dismissively in his direction and began to partially turn away from him. "Go, but you owe me big Kira Raine." She stated cheerfully, turning her attention away from the herbalist as he excused himself from the dark furred medico's pressence and headed out of the courthouse and into the main area within the fort.

Only when the grey male exited out into the open air and emerald orbs fix and rest themselves upon the more then pleasing sight of the courtier lady striding striding towards him after having dismounted Heritage, naturally it had come as something of a surprise for her to come right into Casa lands. But then again given firstly the fact that they were of allied packs so to some degree could come and go as they pleased but also Abigail to come into the lands to seek him out - with this came a sense of happiness that she felt comfortable enough here to not think she always had to resort to waiting at the borders for him.

"Abi! I didn't expect to see you again so soon, is something wrong?" Though Kira could truly hope - and in part assume - that there were not actually anything wrong with the Sadira lady he did still feel compelled to ask as arms were outstretched to her.

OOC: Emotional Abi haha

IC:
Despite the two packs’ allied status it still felt a little strange to Abigail to be freely entering Casa. There was no clandestine meeting at the borders today, and it felt stranger still entering the Fort with only Heritage for company. Leaving the stallion to a spot which was, by now, familiar to him, Abigail turned her thoughts to where she might find her silver furred beau. She had half forgotten letting loose the howl to let Kira know she was here; her mind was in a state of nervous disarray and Abigail didn’t like the feeling of being on edge. The sooner she could find and speak to Kira the better things would be.

Her gaze flitted from structure to structure as she stood in the Town Square. Like a nervous bird, those sea green eyes couldn’t settle on any one building, nor could the Grand-Duchessa decide which to enter in a bid to find her knight. Luckily for Abi her gaze soon fell upon a smoky furred figure exiting the Courthouse and she crossed the square to meet him. Her steps felt more sure than the rest of her – her smile included. The curve of her lips was unsteady, almost timid.

For a moment, as Kira opened his arms to her, Abigail said nothing. All she wanted to do was huddle into those arms and pretend, for a moment, that nothing was going to change. But Abigail couldn’t pretend that no changes were on the horizon – that wouldn’t be fair to either of them, nor their unborn children.

Rather than bending to the temptation to snuggle into Kira’s arms, Abigail took his hands in hers. She found herself looking at those joined pairs of hands, wondering for a flicker of a moment what their children would look like. Silver and smoke, like their Father, or all snow and timber like their Mother?

Her head turned to search for a spot within the square where they might be able to talk, but none seemed to satisfy Abi’s need for privacy in this moment. She squeezed Kira’s hands just to remind herself that he was there, and when she looked at his face again tears glimmered in her eyes. Whether they were tears of joy or simply an overflowing of worry, the Sadira woman didn’t know.

“I don’t know, darling – I won’t know until we’ve talked.” She loosed one hand from Kira’s and brought it up to his cheek. “Take me somewhere beautiful?” If this revelation all went pear-shaped then at least Abi could take comfort in a gorgeous setting.

By all means Kira felt in some small way glad that Abi felt comfortable to the point in which - if only on this one occasion - she could bring herself to enter the lands of the knights rather than restrict herself to the border's before the cavalier male came to meet her and escort her into Casa's interior. But although by all means he were in part glad that the Sadira lady had felt happy enough to do this it did little to ease the worries in which he felt about the reasons behind why she felt that whatever Abigail had come here for could not wait for him to make the short trip towards the border. But allowing himself to worries about all the possibilites and what ifs were not going to be doing Kira any good, rather he would simply have to force whatever worries that may be affecting him away and rather focus upon the present and find out in the Courtier ladies own time.

Of course though the mere fact that Abigail remained strangely quiet and kept herself from reacting as what he had come to almost expect did worry him, so much that he were unable to prevent it from overflowing onto his features combined with the faintest flicker of panic. Well who really blame Kira for fearing the worst? Even if in turn it were bound to be wholly unreasonable that he should be allowing such thoughts to pass through his mind.

It didn't do much for him to not hold mildly tightly onto the Sadira ladies hands as she came to grasp his own, worried green eyes desperately seeking for some hint - however small - that whatever affliction were plaguing her was not too serious and could be easily rectified. The tears that become evident within Abigail's eyes got the cavalier male beginning to withdraw into some degree of sadness as ears flattened just a little, the news or whatever it were that she needed to speak to him about had to be bad after all right?

Thankfully though the sensation of her hand upon his cheek reassured Kira just enough for him to relax before allowing the breath that he had been holding to be released and slowly nodding. |"Alright, somewhere beautiful - the gardens good enough? Just enoguh colour to be pretty and somewhere warm close by if you rather be comfortable." Kira spoke softly, of course she would possibly vaguely or otherwise remember that his home were near the gardens should she decide she wanted somewhere warmer to go. But naturally there were only one way in which to find out about that right?

Only here did he turn and keeping his hand wrapped around her other hand did he gently guide her the short distance all the while casting emerald gaze back to her, only slowing when they were out of sight of the courthouse and naturally all others that may have been going about their business. "So . . . . . .What's happened? What's got you so worried?" Kira asked nervously.

Despite all her worry and nerves, Abigail knew that she hated causing those same emotions in her beloved - for there was still no doubt in her mind that she loved Kira Raine. She had always had unfailing faith in their relationship, and she felt as if this was to be a make or break moment for them. Perhaps they should’ve talked about it first – about whether each of them wanted children, and about the many other questions which were running through Abi’s mind. How would they handle the distance? Would they be raised knowing of both packs’ cultures?

Those questions could wait until they were somewhere more private than the town square. Already Abigail felt that a head or two might’ve turned in her direction. She did her best to remain straight backed with shoulders level, not slumped or slouching.

“The gardens,” she murmured, nodding. “Yes.” It was a relief to have Kira guide her towards the gardens – one of the first places within Casa that the Cavalier man had shown her, and certainly one of the most beautiful. There would only be the river in the background to listen – and no doubt it would be doing its own babbling anyway.

The Grand-Duchessa knew that Kira was watching her features but she didn’t quite dare to meet his gaze until they had entered the gardens. Then she turned to face him, hearing the nerves in his voice and hating the fact that she had caused them. She smiled through tears which made the world wobble around her.

“Kira, sweetheart… I have to tell you something. It’s not bad, but it’s big news. It might… change some things.” It might change everything. “Or maybe – well, maybe I should show you.”

Carefully, Abigail lifted her hands to unfasten the cloak which was wrapped around her. When the folds of fur were loosened, there was no mistaking the woman’s rounded stomach. She fixed her eyes on the ground for a moment before raising them to meet Kira’s.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you sooner, Kira – I didn’t know myself until very recently.”

She fell silent for a moment, taking a step closer to him.

“I need to know what you’re thinking.”

Despite his best efforts to keep any sign of worry or concern far from his featuers or general body language it were truly proving to be a harder thing to do than what Kira had originally anticipated, but then again for all the cavaliar male knew he could just as easily be allowing himself yo worry for no reason in particular. Or at the same time have a very good reason in which to worry, if there were soemthing he were hating it were having to wait longer than what he may have wanted to find out just what were bothering the Sadira lady - of course though depending upon what it were that she were wwanting to share with him maybe it were worth the wait? or hearing this 'news' in a place where they would not be disturned for a time preferable to being in a palce where another could just as easily disturb the pair when they would prefer solitude.

Thankfully the brief walk from the courthouse to the gardens gave Kira enough of a distraction to make somethign of a feeble attempt to calm himself - luckily it were just enoough to work up until they arrived and he in turn turned to focus his attention back upon his beloved.

The mere sight of the tears that had formed within her eyes despite the smile that graced Abi's lips was more than enough to soften Kira's reactions, to the point where he gently raised a hand to her cheek to wipe away any tears that fell. Now it were truly his turn to feel some form of guilt for causing her any form of upset through his actions at least until the puzzlement through her words causing him to frown.

"I don't understand, what do you mean show me? What's wrong?" Kira spoke worriedly, surely if it were some sort of news - bad or otherwise - she would want to physically tell him rather than any other way. But in the end it were entirely up to the Sadira lady how she told him whatever it was that she had felt the need to come all the way here for and in turn could not wait.

The fact that she were unfastening the cloak that hung around her confused Kira all the more; after all it were usualy to see her in the garment given her slim build and the change in weather from warm to cold. Though when it were loosened jsut enough and pushed aside to expose her now less than slim figure was all it took for emerald eyes to visibly widden before Kira in turn struggled to find the right words.

Pregnant . . . . . . Abi was pregnant?
The spell was only broken when her apology reached his ears and she stepped towards him, this causing Kira's gaze to keep shifting between her face and her rounded stomach quite unable to decide where to rest his gaze.

"Puppies? . . . Having puppies? . . . Oh but Abi this is wonderful isn't it?" Kira finally managed, his expression softening before a flicker of a smile managed to form itself upon his features as he lovingly watched Abigail before his head tilted to one side slightly.

It was rare for the Sadira Princess to make an outright request to know what someone was thinking – even Kira, whom she trusted almost beyond measure. Thoughts were private things at times, but the magnitude of this moment wasn’t lost on the pale woman. She was allowing her lover to see her at her most vulnerable, and in return she expected him to share honestly with her. Abi thought that was a fair deal, even if it wasn’t one struck in so many words.

Kira’s emerald eyes that she loved so much widened and for a moment Abigail wondered if she would have to give him more clues than she already had. Kira was an intelligent man - she knew that, of course, and it was one of the foundations of their relationship – but in life-changing moments even the most clever of canines could be stumped, left reeling or reaching for an explanation.

“Puppies,” she confirmed, a smile twitching at the edges of her mouth. Despite her fear that they weren’t ready for this, Abigail couldn’t help the hint of a smile playing across her muzzle. They were going to bring new life into the world and that ways always cause for celebration. All worry aside, these puppies would be loved.

Abigail watched his face, and if she felt relief when it became apparent that Kira knew what was going on it was nothing to what she felt when he uttered the word wonderful. That word was enough to drive out any lingering worries Abi might’ve had. Her features seemed to shift, any trace of hesitancy removed within a couple of seconds. Her tail swept into a slow wag.

“Yes,” she breathed. “Yes, it is – and I love you so much for saying that.”

Abigail closed the distance between them to slip her arms around her silver Cavalier.

“I’ve wanted children for a while, but I never quite expected it to happen yet.” Sea green eyes met emerald. “I didn’t know if I was ready – if we were… I know we didn’t exactly plan this...”

Though there were no possible way that anyone could deny the fact that if they had been in a similliar position there would be immense difficulty in denying that if in Kira's position could not truly believe that their respective partner was in no way pregnant. There would have to be something seriously wrong with an individual to not in some way understand this particular implications, but all the same it did not make it any easier to come to terms with. Of course Kira did know and understand that given their intiment relationship as of late something such as Abigail's pregnancy was more than slightly inevitable but rather than be unsettled by such thoughts of parenthood - well that was a lie, Kira did feel a pang of concern for what was to came - there were the faintest flicker of excitement mixed.

The Sadira lady's confirmation even despite her bulging belly was more than enough to dispel any lingering doubts that he may have had and in turn be more than enough reason for the silver male to fully relax and allow himself to fill himself with a significant amount of cheerfullness and excitement. Even more so when it became obvious when she cheered up only here did Kira come to fully realise that everything was going to be just fine.

Which was yet another reason why he were glad that Abi finally stepped forward and slipped her arms around him and in turn Kira wrapped his around her, it felt so good to finally be able to hold her and be happy rather than concerned that something bad had happened. Her statement in regards to not only having not made any plans in regards to this type of situation and whether they were ready for such a task that lay ahead of them did caused a small yet brief chuckle of amusement to escape the male.

"Well, guess we'll find out in time if we are ready or not soon enough. But everything will be fine; you have your family in the Court and i'll never be too far away." Kira spoke gently and reassuringly, sure for the most part he were trying to reassure himself as much as his lover but in turn the silvery male did mean every word.

"Besides, sometimes the very thing you don't plan for tend to work out better than those you do. So we'll be fine."

It was a lovely and warming thing to see excitement seep into her lover’s movements; seeing cheer well in Kira’s bright green eyes was all Abigail had wanted from this visit. Seeing his excitement didn’t chase away all the Grand-Duchessa’s worries – there were still many bridges to be crossed before the pups even arrived, and still more things to attend to once they were here.

“You’re taking this very well,”
the woman chuckled, cocking her head to one side for a moment. A curly lock of bronze hair fell over her face and she pushed it back with fingers which were still slender, letting out a short sigh before resting her brow against his. “You want this, don’t you? You’re not humouring me?”

What Kira had said was true: this was happening, whether they were ready or not, and all would become clear in time. Abigail was a patient woman and would have waited forever to know how things would turn out, but there were little not-yet-born lives involved in this moment too.

Abi would do her best by them, she knew – by her whole family. Family was something she had strived for for more years than she cared to count. The feeling of a whole family had been beyond her reach for so long, and only this year had the pieces started to drift back together. Adding to that once fragmented family, from Abigail’s own body and blood, would be a joy beyond even seeing her scattered siblings come home. She would give her Mother and Father grandchildren. They would be doted on. They would be safe, she knew it.

And still she found herself admiring Kira’s resolve and belief in this moment. Her gentle Cavalier had strength beyond what others saw.

“You really believe it, don’t you?” She murmured softly, lovingly. “That we’ll be fine.”

Abigail drew in a breath which almost hitched in her throat. Not for the first time, she was overwhelmed by love for Kira. A smile, firm and clear as a Summer stream, spread across her muzzle.

“If you believe it, then so can I.”

Despite all the excitement in which Kira were deeply and truly feeling in regards to the news - no matter how surprising and unexpected it was - in which Abigail had brought him there were always going to be a sense of nervousness and general worries that would come along with it. But no doubt all new parents whether they shared the same circumstances as Abi and Kira or not felt this but at the very least the cavalier knew that the Sadira lady had the luxury of having plenty of family around her even during the times where he would not be able to be with her.

So maybe Abi was true; given the circumstances he were indeed taking the whole pregnancy news more than well - at least right up until she began to question whether he truly wantedf this, the alternative . . . well that wasn't worth thinking about. This was more than enough for the cheer to go right out of the cavalier male and ears to flatten visibly as a look of hurt fixed firmly upon his features.

"Why would you think that? You should know better by now - I would not insult your intelligence like that." Kira spoke softly, unable to keep the hurt from his voice. Of course he knew full well Abi hadn't meant anything by it but it did not make her words sting, thankfully he were more than capable of simply just dismissing it as potentially well founded worries that were plaguing her.

Instead Kira just mentally forced himself to not over react rather make every effort to show her that there were indeed nothing for the Courtier lady to be worrying herself about, instead simply listening to what else she had to say before offering up something of a reassuring smile. "Of course I believe that - after all. You have plenty of family in the court and I can imagine your father will enjoy having little pups around. And I'm not far away and can trust everyone here too." Kira stated comfortingly yet matter-of-factly.

Well; better to destroy and lingering worries that she may have now and look ahead to the good times that lay ahead of them.
