A Bad Memory creates Happiness

Borya/Jazzy

Darkness had spent the early morning with Orion, following through with training and a rest followed by breakfast. The late morning had been Pushok and Temnota's turn for their father's time, spruced up with a little of their own training. Now that Darkness had become half decent at what he was doing, despite never having been in battle, he had the basics down enough to show others what he was capable of. More importantly, what they were capable of.

The bow work with the boys hadn't taken long at all, especially with the work that Honrin had been putting into Pushok and their ability to communicate with one another with very little misunderstanding. He was pleased how in tune to one another they were, and how much it benefitted them to work together to solve their problems. Pushok, brash and dominant, balanced Temnota's contemplative and patient mindset.

As the boys grew weary and made off for the afternoon, Darkness let them to their youthful fun as he trudged with a weary soul in return to the den his family had crafted by the river. The road between the Fort and the densite wasn't long, and in a few moments time, he was greeted with the view of the red embers glowing amidst charred logs and the family den open to the world. Footpaws carried him inside only for milk and honey eyes to fall on Borya and his features. He didn't seem at all as vigorous as his sons. He moved, to plant himself beside his Grandson," Боря," Russian tune carried effortlessly, as compared to common tongue that struggled from his mouth often times," Что ты делаешь один?"

The pain was beginning to dull down but the arm felt no better. Borya would look down at the limp limb like it was something alien and will the fingers to twitch just a little bit. By the time he'd done the hand would be clenched but shaking with strain, and Borya himself would be brushing back the tears from the exertion. The boy had been prepared for a struggle in his life, his leg was never going to be perfect like everyone else's, but he'd at least expected something more than this. What made it all worse was that it felt like Borya's dead arm was draining all of his energy. The motivation he'd gained with Leoris to start training was all but gone, and Borya could spend days in the family den without coming out to do anything.

Hopefully, like his arm, Borya would heal. But it was hard to tell how soon he'd get over the trauma of his first shift, the agony no child should have to feel from their own body. Borya's soft yellow eyes followed the flares of dying embers in the fire pit, trying to think through a way to get himself back on track. It would be nice to go spend time with Leoris again. His Mentor had done well so far to be supportive with frequent visits just to help Borya stay distracted, but the boy felt like he needed to be the one visiting soon, he was supposed to be the eager student after all. Deep in his thoughts, Borya barely noticed his grandfather approach and sit next to him. The question made Borya self-conscious, and he shuffled a little in his place to try and ease the awkward feeling. "Я не готов начать все заново, дедушка." Borya replied with his grandfather's tongue. "Эта тупая рука слишком отвлекает."

Начать сначала?” Darkness' tone was curious as to how exactly he had to start over, but it didn't take long for Borya to specify,” Mmmm,” The deep hum of his voice spoke that he understood now. Borya's arm hadn't taken the shift very well, and there wasn't much that anyone could do for him to ease it. Borya was learning things that some of his children did not, and some of his children had, and it was going to prepare him for the reality of the world too early. Not only that, but unlike anything that any of his children had endured, Borya could not escape what pained him. Because of this, his young heart was losing determination. He wasn't ready for this yet, no child would be. It was up to Darkness and his family to ensure that Borya wasn't going to let it swallow him whole.

Вы не начинаете сначала, внук,Warm words found Borya with confidence,Вещи будут меняться каждый день. Не каждый день может быть вашим лучшим,” Wrapping his arm around Borya, he placed his hand on the boy's strong shoulder. While there was truth in his words, there was also belief. Some days he could wake and put good work in, others? Well, he'd be happy to stay in bed until the moon came up. Pain was a strange motivator for working against forward motion,” Но ты будешь иметь мою любовь каждый из этих дней.”

To Darkness, love was the greatest motivator that existed. Without Hartt? Well, he'd have been long gone a long time ago and his family wouldn't exist. Her love made him work against everything he doubted in himself, and he ended up with a world he wouldn't trade for anything,Хотите знать, что я делаю, когда отвлекаюсь?” He asked the boy, ready to meet his eye if he'd look up from the flames,Мне нравится пробовать что-то новое," He couldn't even count the number of times he picked up some form of training as the only way he could break the pain in his heart when he thought of his late mate," Хотите поехать со мной в Оружейную, чтобы найти что-то новое?”

Wise words were what Borya needed. On his own, he'd only drag himself further down into a hole of despair, and leave himself without the energy to try and get better. Leoris had given the boy distractions and flickers of hope, whilst Borya's mother and the rest of his family gave the boy love and attention. They helped keep the boy distracted, but they didn't push him into action. Wise words would do that. Words his grandfather seemed willing to give. Borya was a patient and polite boy, he sat and watched Darkness as his grandfather spoke of his own experiences and what he would do to help move on, and it did certainly give Borya the urge to try.

He hadn't left the den in a while, and now he was being offered a trip with his beloved grandparent, so the boy eagerly got to his feet. "Я там еще не была." Borya remarked, hoping the new brightness to his eyes was a good enough sign that he was willing to go. "Леорис ждал до моей смены." Leoris had made promises to take the pup down once he could hold his weapon of choice, but then the first shift had shaken both of them out of thoughts of training. Leoris hadn't even mentioned the idea since, perhaps unsure of what grounds he should tread on whilst Borya's wounds were still so fresh. Perhaps the Merchant would be grateful to know Darkness was doing the job for him.

Darkness could see the shift in his features, from downtrodden to bright, as a new enthusiasm filled his young Grandson. It didn't take long for him to hop to his feet, explaining to Darkness that he'd not been there yet. The Patriarch's heart was warmed to the idea that he might fill the place that his lacking father had for this moment, as choosing a skill or trade would provide for them for the rest of their lives,"Я рад, что он ждал, The warm words slipped from his Grandfather's tongue, and the aged male lead the way out of the Denhouse into the light of the sun. It was a quiet way to mention that he was honored to do it with Borya.

Вы можем выбрать то, что звучит как весело. Тогда вы и я можем узнать об этом вместе,” Darkness then offered as she sun warmed his shoulders. Perhaps, if it wasn't only Borya trying to learn something on his own, he might have more of a heart for whatever it was that he decided to do. Whether he pulled a weapon from the storage, or a craft, Darkness would do everything in his power to build happy memories and restore confidence in the boy, where others could not. It took it as his duty, just as the rest of the family tried to do, and Darkness was shameless in the art of enjoying his family's company.

It was a few minutes walk from the Denhouse to the Fort, and Darkness took the opportunity to fill the sound of walking with some ideas that might inspire the ruddy caped youth,Задумывались ли вы о том, что вы хотели бы сделать? Вы видели что-то, что хотите попробовать?” Insight about where his Grandson's mind might be wandering when that sad expression wasn't plaguing his thoughts might do a bit of good to get him in the right room. Certainly, he'd have to know how to defend himself, but at the moment, his heart needed to wander and find something special.
