A silver-clad figure stepped through the woods. She was a tiny creature, not even reaching the five-foot mark. She was skinny, her clothing doing nothing to help disguise her frame. Silver fur covered her frame, dreadfully short with a dark saddle with black flecks. A bushy, fox-like tail swayed behind her and a pair of large ears grew from a black mop of hair and were disproportionate in comparison to her narrow face. A silver mini-dress covered her frame, going down to mid-thigh. She also wore a pair of leggings and she carried a leather satchel. A pair of mismatched forest eyes stood out from the winter background.

Avinalora was a wanderer, her wandering soul itched to leave the pack lands. The pain of Midnight Shores made her distance herself from her new pack since she didn't want to go through so much pain. The vixen had made friendships with several pack members, Temo, Skana, Athena, Felix, and Esmeralda. The memory of them made her heart ache. Would she ever recover?

The fox maiden had come to the Dampwoods to find some willow or pine trees. Thyri had told her that pine resin was good for wounds and she knew that willow bark was good for fevers and pain. She also hoped that she could find some birch trees because they were good for treating wounds. Maybe she could find some clubmoss, too.

And then the jackal medic's senses screamed at her, something that they often had to do to get her to pay attention. A masculine smell filled her nose as well as the smells of a loner wolf. She grabbed her small dagger and had located the wolf to be several yards away.

"Oh, look. A darling little jackal." The stranger said and then the silver fox began backing away. She couldn't run, her leg preventing her from doing such. But she began to swear colorfully, her language having come from books and those books had many swears.

"Fuck." The green-eyed girl said as the hostile man came into view. He was a grey wolf in Secui and his head was level with her's. He snarled at her and began stalking towards her. And then the monochrome jackal let out a scream.

~~ That chill you felt I felt it too ~~

He did not often leave the confines of what was his anymore. AniWaya had moved on, disbanded and sought to relocate themselves from what he could gather. And so too was Midnight Shores gone. Like ashes in the wind. The behemoth was pensive and walked slowly through the underbrush, placing his paws with care to not disturb the land around him. For his size he was a stealthy male when he wanted to be. Today his bones creaked and his joints hurt, it was a bad day and he really should have just stayed in the Fort and slept off the pain with a good dose of medicine.

There were others out here in the forests, a myriad of scents coming to him from the leaves and bushes. He was not interested in talking though and stayed clear of most of them. The secui moved as he did, lost in thoughts of the past when he heard the scream. It echoed to him through the trees. It was terror and desperation and somehow a resigned thing. There was a simple moment of hesitation, he was not really in any good shape to get into a fight but the Knight within him could not stand by or turn away knowing that he could have helped.

Now he brushed aside the bushes and crushed plants, making noise and leaving devastation in his wake. The beast came to a stop, catching silver in his good eye as he faced off against the other secui who was almost as tall as him, though did not have Lorenzo's sheer size and bulk to back up his height. The male pulled back his ears and showed fearsome fangs, broken tail flagging high behind him,

"Ah thinks yah oughta leave tha lady alone. She dun't look like she wants yer company." His voice was a low snarl, and his eyes were hard jewels in their dusted settings. Now the other looked taken aback that this beast should leap from the forest to protect the silver female.

Sorry for the dark

Avinalora heard a beast moving through the woods. She could tell that it ran on four legs and was massive. She gripped her dagger that wouldn't pose much threat since she had no fighting skills and the blade was small. But if this new presence was hostile, she would retaliate, hopefully. Or she could die, either way.

The Secui loner soon heard the presence and let out a loud snarl. And then the wind blew the new stranger's scent to the fox maiden. She smelled a male Cavalier, a Luperci wolf. And her lip curled at the scent. Before, she had no qualms against Casa di Cavalieri, having met a nice member and trading with another. But if the escort party hadn't gone to the southern pack, she would still be a Midnighter. The ex-Midnighter knew that it wasn't logical to think such a thing, but the guilt and depression had taken away her reasoning. She needed someone to blame for the disbandment.

And then he came. And he was massive, much taller than her previous threat and his shoulders were four inches taller than the jackal's head. Without thinking, she snarled at the man. She noticed that he had brown fur and had heterochromia, but she didn't care. He was the reason for Midnight Shores' disbandment, his pack had caused it. As the medic thought, her hand held the pendant around her neck. She barely registered what the man had said.

The hostile loner was frightened by this brown wolf who was much larger than him. But he refused to show it. A loud growl echoed through him as his eyes looked between the gargantuan male and the tiny female. "You can have her, she's too small to care about." The lone wolf said and then bounded away, cursing.

As the threat ran off, the Anatheman healer didn't even say thank you. She did register the grey wolf's last words and she saw truth in those words. She was too small to care about, she was just a speck. She had lost a lot of esperance for a lot of people and packs. She wasn't as naive as she once was, always thinking that she could learn from someone or make a new friend.

But the broken bird didn't have much fear in the face of this behemoth. Did she even care about dying? He could kill her in one swipe and she didn't care; not at all. So, her pair of mismatched green eyes glared at the male with as much intensity as they could generate while looking broken. Death wasn't a threat anymore, loosing her sanity was.

"You should have just let him kill me." The monochrome fox said.

The other male balked, it was an instinctual thing to a much bigger threat. Lorenzo had before made smaller wolves piss themselves in fear with just his appearance. He was a frightening beast when he wanted to be. This male count not stop his instinctual fear and it scent drifted on the wind as he began to back away. Lorenzo was of power and testosterone and strength even though he was not truly strong anymore. Appearance mattered and just his sheer size was enough of a deterrent.

Whilst he was not one to expect adoration and cheering at his rescue, a thank you might have been something he might have heard. This female outright glared at him, and he frowned. Usually most were afraid of him but there was no fear within her, he could see it within her gaze. Her words made him feel cold inside, death was always present, even when he dared not to think about his own.

His one eye regarded her and he snorted, "Ah think naht." The giant settled his rump on the ground, still regarding her with skepticism. There were less painful ways to commit suicide. "Suffice tah say, we don't allow them's evil around 'eres parts." His massive shoulders rolled as he shrugged them. He caught her scent and his eyes narrowed, "What's an Anatheman like yerself doin' lurkin' so far south. Ah thought you's 'ad all scampered back up north." It was not outright disdain but there was an air of disapproval. That bastard pack should have been annihilated for what they did for New Dawn in his opinion.

Avinalora seemed even more furious. This man didn't know shit about her! He didn't know what she had been through! Did he know what it was like to lose his pack! He was a Cavalier! The wolf was a part of the pack that caused Midnight Shores to disband! If Jazper hadn't died and his body hadn't been taken down to Casa di Cavalieri, the fox maiden would still be on Prince Edward's Island! Her forest eyes glared and the beast, seeing him as one of the causes for her home being lost.

The knight actually sat down! But even then he was still taller than the jackal mutt. He told her that they didn't allow evil around their territory. But wasn't she evil? She had been attacked for being an Anatheman! The Anatheman medic had a scar to prove it! She knew that other packs saw her in disdain despite not having been even around during the disbandment of New Dawn. And then he asked her why the desert hybrid was here in the Dampwoods.

"I was a Midnighter you big idiot." The broken bird spat in anger. "Just because Jazper died and his body was taken to Casa di Cavalieri, I lost half of my pack and now Midnight Shores is gone!" She had never been able to vocalize her feelings. She had kept her feelings on the inside and now they were coming out of the monochrome fox. She knew she was going to piss him off with those words but did she care?

Sorry for the wait!
