((488)) ooc: Gah, finally get to use this lovely table~

Despite the lively additions to the household, the afternoon seemed calm; there was a chill that lingered with the harsh winter weather rolling out, but it was cozy within the walls of the home, and far less dismal and dark. March always seemed to be the awkward month of transition between seasons, shifting from cold winds and foggy air to an environment that was sunny and filled with the chirping of birds that would progressively make their way back home from the warmer, southern regions. For now, though, the heat hadn't fully made it's way into Halifax, but knowing it would soon be nice outside, just as the pups were old enough to run about, made Harvey smile some.

He'd found himself seating on the floor beside the couch, laying his head back as he shot a glance to his mate. A white gloved hand was lifted up, grasping for one of Aoves' while his heterochromic gaze had turned its attention to the offspring making themselves at home.

Estella seemed most inquisitive, something that reminded the merle of her mother; a find young girl, and he had high hopes for her already. That is, if she could survive past Basil's constant obnoxiousness. If any had to be watched over particularly, it was him. Samuel was something quite the opposite of his brother, though, a pup more attached to the comforting touch of his parents than the desire to head right off and explore. They all had wonderful qualities about them, making them noticeably one of a kind.

The shepherd laughed some as Basil attempted to annoy his poor sister through shoving her about as clumsily as he did. His stumpy tail was wagging wildly, thrilled that he was perhaps being quite the little stinker. "Basil, me boy, would ya leave your poor sisteh alone? Goodness, wait for i'... She'll 'ave enough of tha', she will, an' you'd be'eh watch your back when she does!" Letting out a soft chuckle again, the Brit joked, shaking his head afterward. "What a bunch..."

He looked back to Aoves, grinning. "Darlin' lil' ones, ain't they?" Fully aware of the effects caring for the puppies were having on his love, wearing her out both physically and emotionally, the aussie dog could only assume, he wished to make things even slightly easier for her, if even with sharing his admiration for the beautiful creatures they'd created together.

"So, 'ow many more ya want?" Harvey raised him brow, but showed that he was obviously joking. More kids would certainly be an adventure, and though he wasn't going to deny the want for them in the future, he would need to experience parenthood for at least a little while longer before making a real opinion on the deal. Right now, he was perfectly content with his happy, healthy family.

With a relaxed sigh, the Cockney bloke continued to observe the yipping balls of fuzz, smiling still.

Glad you like it, I made you another too C:

She was glad to have her husband beside her, one dark hand intertwining with the alabaster one offered to it, and the other sliding down to wrap loosely across his shoulder, holding herself affectionately closer. Then the grey eyes flicked again of the siblings as their father briefly chided, the woman's gaze going to her son in particular. He would more than likely need a stern hand; Aoves had yet to really begin to teach them, but could already feel parental pressure warning that it would be a necessity, though one the gentle woman hardly looked forward to. She could only hope that her assumptions were wrong...to even think of being strict with the boy was hard, and almost unbelievable upon seeing the boyish glee lit upon his face. Looking down to address her mate, she could not help the purl of laughter that escaped her lips, speaking with a soft smile. "I know - though I can only wonder at what to do with them when they are larger."

The warning words playfully spoken by Harvey proved to be true. Estella could no longer focus on the prized carpeting beneath her oversized paws, and the little girl soon whipped her head around, trying to catch one of Basil's ears between the soft skin of her mouth. Her retaliation was short lived when Samuel finally arrived upon the scene, blundering into the brother and sister before their battle could begin, the trio bowling over in a wiggling pile of puppy fat and fuzz. Aoves watched on in amusement as they tried to regain their unsteady footing.

His question caught her off guard though, pale eyes flashing to him for a millisecond as she sat in dazed silence. The idea certainly didn't register with disapproval, but she'd been so preoccupied with her current litter that future ones hadn't been given a sliver of thought. A moment later and she realized, or more so assumed, that he wasn't serious, quickly righting herself with lips returning to their prior grin. "Well, 'ow many more do you think you can 'andle?" The woman teased, briefly brushing her lips across his ear before returning her focus to the puppies. Three alone were proving a handful.

((294)) I sawwww! They're so lovely. ;u;

Harvey laughed softly himself, shaking his head some as he tried to imagine those pups any more active and devious than they were currently. Right now, sure, it wasn't too bad... They were more teetering fuzz balls who waddling and yipping as they stared at carpets and attacked harmless, inanimate object. But, when they were older, and more introduced to the world, things would drastically change. "I jus' 'ope they don't grow up too quickly." He said with a nod, watching the troublesome trio.

"What did I tell ya, Basil?" The Cockney dog couldn't help but to chuckle some as the merle pup gave a sharp yelp, as if already trying to backtalk his father. Luckily for the boy, his sister was incapable of doing too much as Samuel inadvertently stopped the feud before it had really started. Though he was a shy little one, he seemed playful in his own way, much enjoying the company of his family close by.

That didn't stop the restless Basil for too long, though, as he again started climbing upon his siblings, rolling around and nipping at anything that came within reaching distance of his tiny mouth. The shepherd sighed some, using the current chaos, as lovely as it was, to support his answer; "Why don't we wait 'til they're older, than ya can ask me 'gain." He leaned his head against Aoves gently, turning some to give her a quick lick, before looking back to the babes on the floor. "Fink I can tell alrea'y 'ow they's goin' t' act. So young, yet they 'ave so much personality..." It was an amusing thought, that something so small and new to the world and what it had to offer could act specifically to their own so soon.

At the mention of them not growing up too quickly, the woman merely leaned in to press a reassuring cheek against him, sharing the same sentiments. Wasn't that every parents dream? Her dark ears perked, head and gaze angled over to the young lad, attentive at Basil's curt yip, pale eyes flashing over him in a quick once over just to be sure that all was well, and his sisters enacted punishment hadn't caused him harm. It was just a trifling reply however, a further testament to the fact that, more likely than not, he was going to be quite vocal once he'd finally discovered the use of language.

Content that no harm had come to the lad, the woman returned her attentions to Harvey, chuckling gently at the response given by their merle sire. "I am sure that they will grow into themselves with time. Looking at them now, you would think that they did not even realize their own age." The pup she mostly mentioned was given another glance, the boy still in the process of attempting to playfully domineer his siblings. "I wonder whose side all of that spunk came from, hm?" Her gaze slide back to Harvey with the tease, lightheartedly unfair given her own past puppyhood. She'd been a wild one in her own right when still a pup, and it would have come as no surprise to her if she'd been the source of his moxie.

((331)) Finally getting to Sam and Estella sketches! ;u; Hopefully will finish at least one soon.

Harvey enjoyed the closeness between Aoves and himself. To think, before he'd been so frightened by the idea of living alone, never finding anybody to open up to, unable to fulfill his desire to touch and be touched in something other than blind lust. But now, he had fallen completely in love with this French beauty, was officially mated to that same lovely creature, and was sitting nearby her now as they amused themselves through watching their children play about on the floor. It was all still surreal to the merle male, who was convinced before that he didn't deserve anything more than a life secluded. Perhaps his still didn't deserve a portion of what he'd been granted, but now that it was his, nothing could easily take that away; instead of dwelling on what he should and shouldn't receive in regards to his past actions, the British gentleman made it his focus to make those who were most important happy, as best he could.

A soft chuckle left the shepherd as he glanced to his mate, seeing her reaction to their troublesome son's retorting cry. After seeing that there had been no harm in their game, she seemed to have settled down, her attention turned back to the Londoner.

"Determined lo', they ah. Won't let somefin' like age 'old them back, no!" Harv said with a brief laugh afterward. Heterochromic eyes widened when he felt blamed (playfully, at least), for one pup's certain enthusiasm. "Oh, well, cer'ainly not me, if tha's what you're tryin' t' imply. Tell ya, I'm innocent." Though it was highly likely both their genetics gave way to Basil's rambunctious personality, the Englishman rather fancied joking around as he did with Aoves; unlike other women, at least any he'd had any sort of relationship with (friend, family or otherwise), she could jest and tease with the best of them, a quality that kept her merle mate faithfully attached to her. He smiled, nuzzling the mink-coloured wolf-dog affectionately.

Though it had quickly been replaced, Harvey had surely seen the look of curious concern upon her face at Basil's cry, though the expression had vanished as easily as it had arrived. It was a relief to see that they were strong, and even though he had seen, she had yet to hint at the magnitude at which she'd worried about the birth. So many factors had been a source of distress: the care they would need, the season in which they were born, and of course, her own inexperience in the supposedly natural art of mothering. All of these factors had weighed heavily upon her heart, the unknown a constant source of unease to the gentle woman, a plague of restlessness and fretting.

Now, as she played witness to the joy of Harvey, and the boisterous vitality of her offspring romping on the floor, it felt as though she could finally heave sigh of relief and simply relax in the cozy glow. It was bliss. Her lashes lowered beguilingly, the expression honed into one of a challenge as the sweet curl of her lips shifted into a wry grin. "Oh really?" she contested with a quiet chuckle, watching from her peripherals as Basil plopped a commanding little paw on Samuel's head. Already, Estella was pinned beneath him, though the girl was wiggling defiantly in an attempt to escape. "Well then, I suppose we will just 'ave to say it was the both of us." Her lips darted in for a quick tap to his cheek, finalizing the compromise with a swift kiss lest he try to fit a word in edgewise. Her attention was stolen again as Samuel toddled over, the gentler sibling clearly not fond of this rougher play.

The woman lowered her head from where it had been near Harvey's, giving the boy a gentle bump of her nose and a fond lick, head then lifting again as she declined to pick him up. Aoves understood the value of independence and didn't want to coddle him, but the desirous and somewhat drowsy gaze was hard to resist, now turned up to their mother and so similar to her own pale eyes, making her want to sweep him into her arms. The boy settled on the floor alongside his parents, content to wait for the next session of naps and feeding.

The playful look upon the French female's face was almost mirrored by the merle, with his own crooked smile creating a confident expression. He followed Aoves' grey eyes to the scene in which his presumably more devilish son found amusement in completely torturing his siblings. It was bound for the couple to be given a challenge, something to test their patience. Harvey only hoped that despite the troubles the little pup my cause, or the drama between siblings that could be stirred up for numerous reasons wasn't enough to drive him over the edge; he was still teetering on control of his anger issues, and that last thing he wished was to utter harsh words to Aoves or his children, or worse, cause anybody any bodily harm. The thought of it erased his grin completely, his face more worrisome now.

"Yeh..." The shepherd answered almost apathetically, though he really was appreciative that the two of them could joke so easily. Running a hand through his hair, as he had grown into the habit of wearing back and out of his face now, the British gentleman gave a heavy sigh, and instead focused his thoughts on the present, not what could maybe occuer in the future. He smiled again at the kiss, realizing what had happened. Heterochromic eyes followed the fluffy lad as he tottered over to his parents, only to be denied (lovingly) the coddling he seemed to desire. "Aw, come on now, Sammy." The Londoner laughed softly, bringing a white gloved hand down to the boy's head, giving it a comforting rub. "Can't let Basil bully ya 'roun like tha'. Gotta be there t' protect your sisteh, right?" Though, the way things were playing out so far, it could likely be seen to happen the other way around. Still, it took all the shepherd had not to snatch his little one up from the floor and nuzzle him for an eternity. They all had that way of seemingly hypnotizing the former brute into obeying their wills, Harv often succumbing after a while, unable to resist their adorable whimpering pleas and puppy eyes.

The male instead look back to his mate, the devious smirk returned.

fff edit for grammar

Aoves missed the expression of worry that flashed across her lovers face, the grey gaze still lovingly turned to the children, and her focus almost solely on making sure they play didn't become to rough. The simply 'yeh' did not go unnoticed however, her ears instantly picking up on the blander sound, such a stark contrast to his usual upbeat nature. Her eyes flashed to the side, and brows began to knit in concern, though she saw no real warrant for it upon a closer inspection. She saw no cause for distress, no inner turmoil behind the soft mask of thought upon the mans face, leaving her only to guess about the sudden change in tone. Whatever the troubling thought had been, it seemed to quickly dissolve when he addressed the darling Samuel.

Her gaze followed his own, trailing down to the squat boy and the smile remaining upon her face. "That is right, don't you want to be big and strong like your papa?" She cooed with a soft grin, smile growing wider as the rest of the puppies came. The two siblings paused in their play, interested in what was going on and wanting to partake in the fathers love shown to Samuel, though they expressed their desire through yips and frantically waggling behinds. Knowing that Harvey only had two arms, the woman slipped down to rest at his side, leaning against him slightly as she opened her arms to the pups.

She sat with legs folded beneath her rump, but not before giving Harvey a swift brush across the cheek with her lips. She didn't know what thoughts he'd had, and probably didn't need to, but she didn't want him to think she'd abandoned her hearts completely to the pups, and left no love or concern for his own state of being. Estella immediately began scrambling into her mothers lap, clearly aiming for a sip of milk, but Aoves keeping the girl at bay with a playful barrage of kisses.

((310))

He turned to her quickly after hearing a word that triggered a sort of bubbly feeling to shine through his previous one of worry. Papa... It had been pleasant to thinking about, but hearing it aloud, the simple word being put to actual use, caused the merle's heart to nearly skip a beat, grinning as he looked back to his kids. Finally, he felt as if he was something more than the labels he'd been given before... The former brute, the red-blotched fellow, the English gentleman. Aoves' mate. Just as he thought a better title could never be thought up, he was now papa.

The shepherd let out a gentle laugh as his playing with Samuel sparked the attention of their other two rascals. It was if they had immediately stopped their playful roughhousing, something amusing the both of them fully, for the tender kisses of their parents. Their love was still so innocently unconditional... But it was something Harvey needed to know was real.

"Be'eh enjoy dis while we still can, yeh? 'Fore too long d'ese two will be too old 'fore huggin' they're old man, an' we'll 'ave t' chase the blokes off tha' one." He smiled, nodding a head toward the pups he'd been referring to at the time of his statement, lastly turning his attention to his only daughter. "'Specially if she turns out anyfin' like 'er mum."

It was a cheesy line, sure, but the grin afterward showed that Harvey would sacrifice sounding like a lovestruck teen to compliment his deserving mate.

Her kiss hadn't gone unappreciated, and the Brit had wrapped a strong arm about her, pulling her even closer when Aoves moved to sit beside him. Watching his darling lover adorn their daughter with plentiful pecks, the Cockney dog smiled, before returning his attention to coddling the whimpering Samuel and his nippy brother.
