we're just gonna drive, scarves flying high

All Welcome! No coyotes pls, these gals are Biased. ;>
Location is intentionally vague, so wherever you need it to be in this region!

"Not a bad shot, Dolores. You're gettin' better."

Belladonna leaned against the grey neck of her horse, interlacing her fingers together and smiling a toothy, crooked smile at the archer.

Glancing over her shoulder with a light flip of her dark hair, Dolores lowered her bow arm and laughed. "I had a good teacher," she said, shrugging but unable to keep the smile off her face. It ought to have been a world-weary smile, and there was some suggestion of tiredness in her light teal eyes, but the past several months had done her a real body of good. Her exodus from Zion had provided her interesting new opportunities, and a place to hone her skills without such intense pressure.

"Damn right you did," the other she-wolf agreed, and reached back for her own bow. Her deft fingers quickly nocked an arrow and drew back, her keen eye took aim, and she released the bowstring with a steady breath.

The arrow flew past Dolores and struck the center of the chalked circle, embedding deep into the spruce's bark an inch to the right of Dolores'.

"You come here just t' brag, Donnie?"

Belladonna laughed—the rough-hewn laugh of someone compensating for a feminine voice, because not much was stereotypically feminine about Donnie. Her smile was slanted, her hair out-of-the-way, a bandanna tied 'round her throat above a dirty tunic. Dolores knew a little better than that, but she didn't mind this image of her friend.

Dolores smiled, too, and took another deep breath as she lined up another arrow from her well-practiced stance on the ground.

Rhu breathed through the pain as she ran, her legs constantly shifting and changing, one moment she would be running on all fours and the next on two legs, her forelegs no longer needed to propel her... She didn't fully understand what was going on, only heard the stories of what some of wolf kind can do... Thought it was only a story... Until HE came... It was all his fault! His fault that the family got lost, his fault that her ma died.... His fault that she was now a stranger in her own body... His fault that she was so lost where just months ago she knew her world...

She started to shift again, this time from her two legged form back to that of her birth. A silent howl lifted from her maw as she dropped to her knees... As her form shifted and shrunk.... So lost in the uncontrollable shift Rhu Missed the heavy thunk of a arrow embedding itself into a tree... As voices laughed and bantered near her... She whined softly as she staggered forward, once more on four paws... Though they where much larger than was normal, which throw off her coordination and made her stumble into the side of the tree that the two where using as target practice....

Welcome, thanks for joining! :)

She lined her arrow with the target's center, pulling her arm back and relishing in the tension of the bowstring before she would let it fly—

Stumbling footfalls in the woods made the ex-soldier turn her head. Her arm relaxed, and she straightened and leaned toward the sound, stiff, the arrow now pointed toward the ground. Silas had once taught her not to point a drawn arrow at anything she didn't intend to kill, though her skill had grown considerably since then; one too many times almost shooting her brother or sister's ears and paws off had instilled caution. Someone was staggering out in the forest like a drunk, but who?

Donnie picked up on her caution immediately and curled her lips back to show her teeth, swiftly pulling another arrow from her quiver. The fleabitten grey mare she sat on twitched her ears, while the red horse (several yards away, grazing) lifted his head.

Eventually, a black shape stumbled against the tree.

It was a wolf in her Secui form, seemingly exhausted and covered in recent scars. Dolores exchanged a glance with Belladonna then shouldered her bow, raising her hands to show they were empty as she approached the stranger.

"Hey, are you alright?" Dolores asked.

Donnie flexed her fingers on her bow and looked suspiciously into the woods, worried that someone was following the loner.

Rhu huffed, trying to gain balance over the larger body. She pushed herself from the tree only to stop as her eyes landed on the forms in front of her... Two like HIM... Like... her now, they stood on two legs, a wooded stick in their paws... She looked up at the tree and peeled back her lips as she saw two more sticks stuck in the tree. Naive of the ways of once was human weapons that had been adapted for Luperci use in Optime shift, she only knew that it could harm her and has harmed her. She pushed herself from the tree, distrust in ever twitch of her hide as she moved around the she-wolf. "Fine..." She growled, but she wasn't, not really. She was confused and lost and alone... Not really understanding what was going on with her, only that something was happening to her that she could not control. She had been changed, against her will... But if the change of identity wasn't enough, the one being in this world that could help her understand had died, the last of a lost family... She was alone, her siblings and father gone, her mother dead, and she was changed...

Changed like the urge to shift once more caused her to stop in her tracks, her flesh twitch as her body shifted and morphed, once more in the most unfamiliar of her three bodies... The one like the other two. She dug her claws into the ground as she panted as her spin arched and her limbs elongated. As she settled once more into the unfamiliar body she panted, her distress obvious to any who witnessed the whole affair. Rhu clenched her fists, her two toned eyes locked on the dirt at her paws... No hands. She just wanted to go back to normal... Wanted to return to her family valley... Wanted to play and hunt with her siblings... Wanted to watch her ma... Wanted to know who and what she was...

But that was impossible, she could not look back she must only look forward...

The black she-wolf shoved away from the tree, her hackles rising as she circled around and growled that she was "fine." It was obvious that she wasn't, and moments later her claws sank into the soil as her body underwent the change again.

Shifting took time and energy. Well-practiced Luperci could manage the change within a few minutes, but youngsters and those who rarely shifted took even longer. It was a tiring process even then; Dolores had seen others who forced themselves to shift too many times in a row faint from exhaustion. This seemed to be why the black wolf seemed run so ragged, almost like she couldn't control herself.

It took Dolores a few minutes to realize what must have happened to her.

"You got turned, didn't you?"

Donnie shot her friend a questioning look. "Turned into what?"

"A Luperci."

"What'd she used t' be, a frog?"

Dolores shook her head and settled her teal gaze on the loner curiously. "Only met someone like you once b'fore," she said. "Who attacked you?"

Belladonna snorted and finally relaxed her bow-arm, though Dolores knew she could nock and aim an arrow faster than anybody else she knew. The brown wolf gave her horse a pat on the shoulder, staring at the back of Dolores' head as if that might convince her to drop her line of questioning and shoo this stranger away.

Lost in her own angst Rhu had forgotten she had an audience just mere steps away from... It was only as the the voices bantered once more that the thoughts of her next step brought her back to the here and now. She jerked her head up, her amber and gold eyes landing on the duo. She ignored the questions directed at her to instead push herself to her back legs, causing her to wobble as the shift in weight was unfamiliar, hunched forward in a more bestial posture while the other two stood straight.

The one who said that she had only met 'someone like her' only once before continued to ask who attacked her... As if Rhu's ma had time to stop and ask who it was who shredded her eldest daughter while running for her life. But keeping that snark to herself Rhu tilted her head, plastering a bland mask upon her face only answered with a shrug, "Donno." She looked over the gray she-wolves shoulder into the forest in the direction she had come. He had come from nowhere, foam and spittle leaking from his maws.... Clearly insane, clearly not in his right mind... Clearly dangerous... She would know, it had been her standing closest to him when he emerged into their small clearing where their home had been... And it was she that his eyes landed on first... And it was she that he had attacked... Too broken to flee her mother had scooped her up and fled... And that was the beginning of the end, the last time her family would be whole, even if her siblings and father found her... Her ma was gone, dead of sickness and weakness, nursing Rhu through her injuries and whatever she had turned into..."Dosn't matter..." She turned her head, the long ruff on her head covering her eyes. At least it didn't matter now, she was much to weak to act upon her rage and resentments even if she could find the male who changed her life forever.

Rhu's eyes looked down upon her hands then, her eyes tracing the curves of the fingers as she flexed and moved them. She wondered... Her eyes snapped up to the bows in the two's possession. Could she learn to use that too? With her hands could she have something other than her teeth and claws to defend herself? If she had the ability before, could she had protected her family from the crazy wolf? Would her siblings and father still be with her?

Would her ma be alive...?

Desire to learn filled her, she wanted to protect herself... Never wanted to be helpless again... Never want to be changed against her will again...

Never wanted to lose someone important to her...

The black she-wolf stood staring at the woods, then down at her hands, flexing clawed fingers as she replied plainly: "Dunno. Doesn't matter."

Belladonna clicked her teeth and rolled her eyes. "She don't wanna talk."

Dolores frowned. She was inclined to agree with her friend, but it wasn't in her nature to simply walk away from others in need. It was a soft, stupid sentiment that might have gotten her in trouble had she stayed in Zion long, but with Donnie she'd felt the freedom to play the nurturer. She'd drawn tales out of Donnie when the woman had been tight-lipped about her fears and vulnerabilites, after all.

She fished for something to say, when she noticed the loner's gaze snapping toward the bow balanced now across the grey mare's saddle. "Hey," she said lowly, "she ain't gonna hurt you with that. I promise."

She shook her head, flicking some dark hair from her face. "What's your name? I'm Dolores, 'n' my friend's Donnie."

"Call me Belladonna," the brown wolf said tersely.
