Mutt characteristics

POSTED: Wed Apr 18, 2018 12:05 pm

So Benny boi here is a mutt; a mix of coyote, wolf, huskey, Irish wolfhound, Doberman pincher, bernese mountain dog, pitbull, and Newfoundland. And I have no idea what his color pallete should be/patterns. Any suggestions? (About all breeds equal percentage of genes)

Realistically, most wolf hybrids really resemble wolves -- but at 'Souls we can really play around with any markings if they're realistic for part of the hybrid!

With his breeds, a couple colorations or markings come to mind. :o You've got agouti or "wolf grey", which would give Benjamin a more "wolfish" look but wouldn't exclude huskies! You could also play with more "brownish" agouti, or grey, or even darker colors.

With a Dobie or Bernese Mountain Dog, I think of black with tan points, maybe with some residual white.

Anyway -- in general, I find drawing inspiration from real mutts and canines helpful, and this website is a great resource on various colors and markings found in dogs!
