Can't hold it back anymore

Gemma!

He had intended to stay close to the pack, but he knew that Gemma would want to be told about Tal's abandonment. He knew that despite everything, she still loved the male who had broken her heart when he chose another. He envied her for the trust it took to keep loving someone who only hurt you. He couldn't do it, he couldn't love someone who abandoned him. He tried, he really did try with Sky. But after that one brief conversation they hadn't spoken again, and he was okay with that. He wanted to get to Aniwaya quickly so he could hurry back home. He didn't want to be gone too long, since he was the pack healer now that Tal had abandoned everyone.

He arrived on the border quickly, and hesitated. Since Aniwaya had moved, he wasn't sure where Gemma would be within the pack. He didn't want to barge in and cause problems for D'arte with the tribe. He hesitated a moment, then threw back his head, letting out a gentle howl asking for Gemma. His voice rang out, a unique mix of dog and wolf that was unique to him and possibly to his siblings. After the howl had sounded, he relaxed, waiting. [[wc >200]]

Gemma Sawtooth
the map never lies

The move had been hard on them all, it had tested her to the limit for her ability to handle stress and to keep herself together. She had been one of the first to move and to take the Great Fire with her. It had been a huge challenge for Gemma and she wasn't even a master fire tender. She wasn't supposed to touch the fire in such a way, it was blasphemy. Afterwards the woman had gone into isolation, to purify herself. She had felt it was the right thing to do, maybe she had been urged on by the spirits to absolve herself. She would have never done so had the situation not been so dire and needed. So the pack had moved too after her and by the time they had all arrived with the cargo and the livestock she had completed her isolation and was ready to greet them again as their skilled fire tender and stand once again by Tiva's side. The pair of sister like fire tenders had been happily reunited. They had temporarily split the Great Fire in two, one half to light the way to their new home and the other half to keep the spirit burning at their old until ever last member had moved across. Gemma had carried her portion of the fire in several small lanterns, feeding them constantly whilst traveling on the back of Neo. It had been a stressful day atop the white male and by the end of it, with no one around to see Gemma had had a quiet nervous breakdown that had thankfully lasted all of thirty minutes. Just enough time to pull herself together and be stern with herself. Although she would never admit it to anyone, not even those closest to her she found it reassuring to speak to herself in her own mind as though she were a child, punishing herself for her mental lapses. She knew it probably made her crazy but it helped keep her functioning.

Since the Great Fire had not actually gone out she didn't need to rekindle it just let it grow again in its new home. And it had flourished in that first night that she spent alone and had bolstered her reserves of strength greatly. In the lonely lands that had once been occupied by the evergreen Phoenix Valley, where she had first met Jace and where her father had met his death. This place was one of sadness and one of joy too. She had found her brother here and also discovered that he knew nothing about her and didn't really care to either. That had hurt her but then she was used to being hurt really.

The howl came from the borders and Gemma was elated to hear it at last. Her son had come to see her. Leaving her work for now the coyote mix shifted herself down into her lesser used secui form. When was the last time she could remember using this? And she ran for the borders, uncaring of any who would see her. Her long white locks and tail streamed behind her in the breeze she made as she parted the air with her elegant long nose. Secui paws carried her over ground that was becoming quickly familiar and she began to pick up blown traces of his scent. She breathed them in, letting them flood through her and finally bounded out of the trees, seeing her brown and white son. Tal's eyes looked back at her and as they did every time she saw them, there was a hit of ain to her stomach but she didn't slow, running right up to Myrddin and knocking the young man over, licking his face excitely and whining with excitement.

He didn't have to wait long before the thud of footfalls greeted his perked ears. His tail began wagging despite the news he was bringing to his mom. She arrived at the border shortly after her footsteps came to his ears, knocking him over and covering his face in kisses. He laughed, his tail beating a staccato tempo on the ground, his body wriggling just like a playful pup during rough housing. He protested even as he returned the affection to the scarred mother. He was glad to see her, glad to see that she was happy and healthy and safe. He hoped the news he brought her wouldn't change that for her, he knew how devastated he was over Taliesin's abandonment of them. He just hoped that she wouldn't take it as hard as he was.

"It's good to see you too, Etsi. Osiyo." He was still smiling, despite the news he carried. He at least felt strong enough to deliver it. He didn;t want anyone else to give it to her, just as he had informed both Sophia and D'ryn before leaving. "How are my siblings?" He smiled crookedly. "I saw Nate not too long ago, he was doing well. I'm surprised he left Aniwaya, though. I wouldn't if I had been here." Not even two minutes into the visit and he was back on the subject of leaving and other canines leaving. He wouldn't be able to hold off on the bad news too long, he could feel it bubbling in his stomach like a piece of sour meat.

She was so happy to see him and looking so grown up in just the few weeks since she had seen him last. He was so big now, he dwarfed her in her optime form so as a four legged creature he was like a giant to her, well at least until she look him to the floor and covered him in kisses everywhere she could reach, even the insides of his ears which weren't the nicest places to lick but it would get him squirming to get away from her. She could hear his tail beating a rythmn against the snow covered earth and she decided she had made him set and smily enough. Stepping her dainty backs backwards and off of him so he could get back up to his feet. She she did so the fire lady shifted herself back upwards too to stand tall in her optime form. She could tell that something was wrong however, he never could hide anything from her but she wouldn't push whatever it was, he would tell her in his own time or maybe even not at all if it was something he didn't feel willing to share with her. She wouldn't pry into his privacy.

She smiled up at him fondly, he had managed to replac her lost children, the ones that had died and in him was her redemption. She had failed her first twelve children. She would not fail him nor her surviving three, she had made that promise to herself all those long months ago and so far she had held up her end of it.

"It's good to see you too darling. I've missed you, it's so strange being all the way this north and not just a quick horse ride away." She slipped her hand through his arm as they began to walk back towards the AniWayan village together, "You saw Nate? I'm happy he's doing well. He said to me that he felt he wanted to go exploring. The tribe and we will always be here for him when he decides he wants to come back. And since he's not there as a buffer Nvda and Payne have been bickering more. I think Payne is searching for own own hut now" She chattered on happily to him about their setting up of the tribe and how strenuous the move had been on her and the kids.

It was strange, her being in a different area. Taliesin had told the boy stories about this area. He tried to imagine his grandmother Deuce striding around the land like a queen. She had been the founding Shaman long ago, back when Taliesin had been a pup. He had heard stories of the area, had visited it, but had never thought to consider Deuce being a leader in the area. As Gemma spoke of Nate and Payne and Nvda, Myr listened, nodding. A question nagged at him, and finally he asked. ”And how is Nvda? Are you having to fend off suitors yet?” He meant it as a jest, but there was something that sounded concerned too.

He didn’t like the idea of another male touching her, trying to steal her heart. He felt almost jealous about it. but then she was a sweet and beautiful woman, and he hated to see her get hurt, as anyone would eventually do. He had honestly half expected Gemma to not be here. He knew she would be, but he had expected to hear that she had run off with Taliesin.

He focused on her chatter about moving the village. He had helped here and there where he could, he had even offered the services of Mocha, since she was trained to pull carts. no one had taken him up on that offer, but that was alright. His eyes were darting around, taking in the sights of Aniwaya. It was different than the old land, but he supposed he’d get used to it in time.
