Cartier learned that he couldn't hunt the old fashioned way when he had went out to try and get something to give to Versace. He was trying to fall back into the old roles he used to fill and was learning that they were no longer available to him. He was proficient with a bow and that didn't require shifting, which had been a torturous event when he had attempted it. The only thing was that he had never tried hunting with his bow before. He had only ever used it for target practice. He had trained to be a warrior with his bow, not a hunter. Though the concept should still be about the same.

He had a limp to his step as he walked out towards the Moors in order to do some hunting. He changed directions with the change in the breeze so that he would remain downwind of whatever prey there might be out to find. A goose was spotted and he stilled. Quietly he brought his bow around and settled an arrow against the string. He sighted along the projectile and concentrated on his breathing.

He took a few deep breaths in order to settle himself and allowed himself to get into rhythm. He was focusing on his breath to clear his mind of all things except the sight of his prey whose head was lowered to peck at the grass. After a few more in and out breaths the coyote finally released his arrow. He whooped loudly when it hit home, surprising himself that he was able to hit his target. He laughed and leapt once before his ankle sharply reminded him of what a bad idea that was. The male was simply excited and happy to be able to accomplish something when all of his old avenues had been closed to him.

OOC - Forgive the awkwardness. Still figuring out how to play her. <3

She was settling in nicely. A lot more quickly than she had the first time. But then again, she'd had a lot on her mind within the first couple of days being here. She never would have imagined her family hurting one another, for any reason. To learn of what had happened had set her on a long path to free her mind of the confusion that had bled into her upbringing and her sense of self. Coming back here, seeing Crucifix with her children, learning that she had a mate and that the same was true of Antioch had been something of a redeeming point for her. She was glad in the knowledge that her family was still here, though, that most of them had made it and were calling Inferni home.

As she traipsed quietly through the Moor, her mind was genuinely focused on her path before her. The wildflowers that specked the plains and rolling hills did little to improve her mood because she felt somewhat happy already, if not a little anxious over her next few moves. With her eyes upon her feet, her arms hanging loosely at her sides, she let one hand drift to touch against the bangles on her wrist, orange eyes intentionally far from the path she walked. She did not really expect to meet anyone out here in what she was intentionally calling the wild-lands.

It was a surprise to hear the whistling of an arrow. It nearly made her cringe since in the outside world, she'd been forced to watch her back on more than one occasion. Getting caught off guard meant the difference between life or death.

Fortunately, she did not have to worry too much. While she did not see the arrow flying through the air, she did catch sight of the bird tumbling through the air toward the ground. She instinctively quickened her pace to greet whoever had shot it, to congratulate them on their meal, only pausing short a few feet away from the dead bird to peer in the direction of the coyote who wasn't quite there just yet, a hand lifted so she could lightly pass a wave in their direction.

303 Words; Tis fine hun, you do you.

The aches and pains that throbbed throughout his body reminded him of why he had chosen to try out this particular method for hunting. It was also what delayed him from reaching the downed prey in a timely manner as well. Someone else had joined him as he hobbled his way over to the goose that he had shot. Or more like they had joined the goose rather than him. You can have that if you want. Cartier offered up the claim to the prey as the other was closer to capturing it. I was mostly just practicing anyways. Which was the truth, though he had thought to try and bring something back to Versace as she had taken to making certain that he had something to eat when he couldn't do for himself. He knew it had to be Versace behind it even though it was Jehan bringing the meals to him.

I can try and get something else now that I know I can do it. The words were added on to further engage the female into accepting the free meal. It made Cartier feel more like himself to be able to do something for someone else, to be able to provide for another. He hated that he had become dependent on others. He didn't like feeling helpless, and that was what his life had turned into. He couldn't do what he had done before and so he wasn't really sure that life was worth living anymore.

You look familiar. He remarked, making small talk as he continued to limp his way along. You look like the one who talks a lot and hangs around with the blonde coyote. He hadn't formally met the pair but he had seen them around before his accident had left him confined to his bed.
