Paw prints marred the grass, leading all the way to border between barren wastelands and grass as the sinking sun painted a portrait of magnificent watercolors in the sky. A lone figure stood partially in the brown of the grass, with head down and staring at her undulating reflection in the creek water. Her reflection was constantly changing along with the moving of the water and it almost looked as if the coyote was not scarred at all. There was an air of melancholy and reminiscence as the disfigured coyote stood where she was, as if waiting for the water to swallow her up.

Suddenly, the coyote snapped her head up and turned away from the water and her reflection, letting loose a snarl as if disgusted with the very thought of it. There was no use in her dwelling on what used to be, Xo didn t even know why she was here; she had somehow been drawn here from afar, almost like something was calling to her.

But 'Xo was not the kind of coyote who would fall for such fantastical idea . She knew better now. She would be hindered by her past injuries and pursued by her want for revenge against those who had taken her. It was only then that she could die feeling some kind of fulfillment.

Xo reared back on the horse she was riding when the skulls came into view. The female blinked a few times and slowly got off her newly found horse. She didn't know what to do now but wait til someone came to find her.

It was Eira who recognized the scent of stranger first. The mare snorted, ears perked. It was then that Myri began paying sharper attention. When the breeze lifted again, just slightly and just for a moment, the coyote smelled the stranger, too. There had been no rousing howl -- though that was not, in and of itself, peculiar. The hybrid directed her mount toward the source of the scent, trotting the small and sturdy-legged horse as fast as she dared in the dimming light.

The canine on the border was all reds and golds, her horse black with a silver-white mane. The horse was stout and muscular, the rider was small and slender. She was decidedly, however, not a gentle-looking creature. Myrika recognized the look of scar tissue, even in the shadows of pre-dusk. Though it had always been the tawny hybrid's instinct to dismount and face a newcomer on the same level, she remained ahorse. The Aquila felt very differently from the coyote Myrika had been. Part of her was still discomforted by the action -- small as it was, it signified much -- but more of her knew such small acts were necessary to keep her place at Inferni's head. The clan was not beholden to the wolfish instincts that made others scrape their bellies along the floor and grovel for the slightest scrap -- but there were ghosts of those instincts, all the same.

Hello, she said, offering a small smile. It was not her warmest -- but it was a smile. Leadership could not deny her that. Looking for someone -- or something -- in Inferni? she inquired. The question was polite, and not particularly firm. This was a coyote, clearly enough -- Myrika saw it in the slender jaw, the too-large ears. I'm Myrika Tears, the leader here.

Hola? ¿Quién está ahí?"

Much to the surprise of the coyote, a presence was noticed not too long after she had stepped off of her horse and onto what seemed to be abandoned land. A light brownish mess of fur came to greet her. Xo had noticed the coyote in her right away, it was quite obvious. The female looked up at the canine, expecting she would get off her horse, but the chance never came. Even though the coyote's native language was spanish, she knew some English, thus understanding what the leader said. But never had she heard this word in this context. Inferni. It was a beautiful word in her mind. "Hola Myrika." Xo stated. The female looked down at her hand, glancing at her ring that she never takes off. "Ayee Xochime. Ayee looking for home since ayee left Salsola." The female put her hand on her horses head and gave a very small smile. "Por favor, Señorita."

The tawny-hued woman had heard the tones of Spanish often enough to recognize them. Harosheth and Molcaxitl both spoke this language, as Angel had before them. The Aquila herself did not have any words in this language -- and so she breathed a small sigh of relief when the foreign greeting was followed by words in English. Choppy as they were, the hybrid understood them. She listened intently, trying not to miss a word or inflection.

One word was very familiar. The redhead's head tilted to one side; she looked over the golden-and-fire colored canine, blinking turquoise eyes. No scent of pack emanated from the small coyote, but that was not altogether strange with Salsola. She remembered the leader of the pack -- her cousin, it would seem, though Myri did not know what to make of that, still. How two creatures could be related and yet so different in appearance and demeanor was well beyond her.

You left Salsola, the hybrid stated, affirming what Xochime said. There was no need to warn the other coyote about the closeness between Salsola and Inferni. Xochime must have known. I see no reason Inferni can't be your home, she said, slowly. I know very little about our close neighbors. Inferni isn't close with many of these wolf packs, but Salsola... she paused, blue-green eyes very focused on the golden coyote. An odd bunch, no?

She listened close, her voice echoing within her ears. Her question was straightforward and she did not hesitate a moment too long before answering. "Odd, Si." Xo gave several nods in agreement. She then took a moment to think about what she could provide to Inferni. Any values, strengths, any specialties. " Aye will Help protect this pack." She stated. What she said, she believed in her eyes, was true. She swished her tail once more, before speaking again: "Ayee ready to learn your ways." She closed her mouth to end her rumbling of words that were spewing out of her mouth.

She waited for a response, hoping she she would be deemed worthy of the coyote pack. She was truly a warrior at heart. She knew she excelled most in hunting, but what canine couldn't hunt? So what if she was good at it? The female kept her posture maintained. But, Xo compared herself to the leader in the matter of posture, she was like a statue. She blinked slowly and firmly, and she stilled her tail, trying to show with some seriousness that she was not here on an 'idle whim'. She blinked once more, again slowly. She drew in a deep breath through her nose, and exhaled through her mouth silently.

The former Salsola's quiet agreement was what Myrika wanted to hear. She did not need spies for their neighbors amongst her ranks. It was easy to trust Salsola, if her cousin was the one leading the pack -- but Salvia had given her no particular reason to do so. Myrika did not entertain close relations with any of their neighboring packs, and preferred to keep it that way. Inferni did not need to befriend the wolves; it was best to keep them at arm's length.

Thank you. We'll be glad to have you, she said, smiling. I think you will like it here. She was glad to accept Xochime -- the coyote was obviously worn down by the world, and perhaps having her would provide some advantage in dealing with their Salsolan neighbors. I'll show you where you can make your home, Myrika said, waiting for the golden-hued canine to mount her own horse before leading her toward the mansion and caves. The Great Village was filled to its capacity, at least until Myrika tried to do something more with the cafeteria area.
