packwide color fest XD

WC: 253.

The festival of colors had started yesterday. Today he had been abandoned yet again by those who swore to love him. They had promised he wasn't being abandoned, that the scarred lover would return to him. Still, the news was a punch to the gut. Honrin and Kenna had left, and he was alone again. Funny how life worked. Last year at this time he had been celebrating with Taliesin and Sumae, and pain had been the last thing on his mind.

Honoring the spirit of the festival, there was no work to throw himself into, so he threw himself into the spirit of the festival. He had brought out the various dyes he'd made over the last year, spreading assorted colors over his body, leaving places for new designs. He made his way to town hall, standing in front of it he released a doggish howl, calling his pack mates to his side, promising fun for one and all. His powdered dyes were spread around in small paper bags, tied with grass. They could be thrown or opened to use on one's self. Not far from where he was he could hear music, he closed his eyes and swayed to the beat, pausing to take a drink from the flask that was hanging from his belt. He shook his head as the alcohol burned his throat, a smile on his lips. He began humming a wordless tune as he danced to the music he heard, waiing for friends to join the party.

So as seen HERE lets have fun covering eachother in colors!

She always set aside a large chunk of time for the Festival; it was the one time a year that she really let loose and no one really bothered with formalities. This was her first year attending as a leader, but it changed nothing. No one was expected to act mature or as a leader at the Festival. Except those who were leading a particular activity. So when she heard Myrddin's doggish howl, she was quick to head that way to participate in whichever activity was starting.

Ah, a color fight! Her ears raised and her tail wagged, tongue lolling out happily. "You're going down!" she woofed in challenge. Hopefully it wouldn't be a 1-on-1 fight, but it would be fun even if it was. She raised her own head in a joyful howl. It wasn't meant to override or overrule Myrddin's, it was just her own playful challenge to the pack. Esme was ready to take them down in a color fight.

"You sharing?" she asked, indicating Myrddin's flask with her hand.

The color fight was the part of the festival that Elsie was most looking forward to. Esther had explained how it worked, and so Elsie decided it was best not to wear any of her colorful clothing for this part. She had no problem going without clothes, and she had plenty of light colored fur to end up splashed with different dyes.

Esther said she might join them later, and so after saying goodbye to her and convincing her cat, Penny, to stay put at the house, Elsie headed out. As she closed the door, she heard Esmeralda’s howl in complement to Myrddin’s a few minutes before and she let out a howl of her own as she hurried off towards them.

When she arrived, Elsie’s eyes widened at all the different colors. She was definitely going to have to talk to Myr to see about some dyes for fabric. Of course, now was not time for work, it was time for the color fight, although she wasn’t sure about making the first move since she had never done this before.

“Hi!” She grinned at Myr and Esmeralda, bouncing on her toes in anticipation. She hoped one of them would start the fight.

The Artisian smiled as his cousin arrived on scene, his tail wagging as she let out her own howl. It would be good to have company, good to have friends around him. He didn't need a lover, he had his pack and his friends. The rest could wait. As Esmeralda asked if he'd share the flask, he offered it to her, his tail wagging. The arrival of Elsie was noted with a grin. Who better to get the fight started than the male who had called it? He chuckled as he swooped down and grabbed a paper bundle he knew contained a reddish purple dust. If someone wasn't watching close enough they might assume he had tripped, but as he straightened and let the bag fly, the truth would be known.

He was aiming for Elsie's shoulder, but he didn't wait to see if his aim was true before scampering a short distance away to a dandelion yellow that would be meant for his cousin. All dark thought were banished to the back of his mind, the be pulled out and examined after the festival, after the joy and cheerfulness of the celebration had subsided and all he was left with was himself and his emotions. But for now, it was time to have fun!

She didn't hesitate when the flask was offered, taking a generous swig before handing it back. "You're a real pal." she said to her cousin, appreciating the burn of the alcohol in her throat. It was good to drink with friends, to just relax for a bit and let herself enjoy the day without worrying about the future. This couldn't last because she had to lead the pack, not just goof off... but there was no reason not to enjoy it while she could.

When Elsie showed up, she waved to her friend. "I see you are ready to lose in this color fight, too." she jested. Her head turned to Myrddin when he appeared to stumble, but then she quickly realized the farce. "Watch out, Elsie!" the subleader yipped, before ducking herself.

Esme grabbed a bag of her own and flung it toward Myrddin. Temporarily teaming up on him because he had started the fight and besides, girl power and all that. Gotta take out the boy first.

Elsie laughed at Esmeralda's greeting; sure she was new to the color festival, but she was certainly going to go down fighting, and of course she could participate in some good natured smack talk as well. Growing up with a brother meant she was good at that. So, she put her hands on her hips and stood at her full height, not that it was saying much, while her tail wagged excitedly behind her.

"As if that'll-" her reply was cut off by a warning from Esmeralda, followed quickly by a soft impact on her shoulder. And with that, Elsie's front was nearly a quarter purple. The powder spread over her shoulder, across her chest, and up her neck. She shook her head, sneezed, then laughed, reaching for a bag that appeared to contain blue.

"I'll get you for that!" She giggled, chasing after Myrddin as well, a bit behind Esmeralda. She moved sideways so she wouldn't hit her friend, sensing the teaming up that was going on. "Hah!" She tossed her bag soon after Esmeralda threw hers, and then dashed back to the table to grab a different one. Elsie had no doubt that the little alliance was going to be short-lived.

Esmeralda warned Elsie, but she wasn't quick enough to save the other woman from being pelted with his bag of colored dust. He heard Elsie laughing and sneezing the dust out, his tail wagging as he turned in time to catch Esme's bag in his own shoulder. A cloud of reddish dust rose up, and he laughed, even as Elsies bag of blue dust hit him in the stomach. He grinned at his cousin as he lobbed the bag of yellow powder at Elsie's backside. She had presented an easy target, afterall, with her back turned. He grabbed two more bags and charged at Esmeralda, intending to attempt to tackle her, but knowing it would likely backfire. His cousin was a warrior, afterall, and he was a mere scholar. But he had brains, and brains usually triumphed over brawn.

Unless of course it was in an arm wrestling match. At the last moment, before colliding into his cousin who would likely have been more than willing to pin him down so she and Elsie could do who knows what to his fur and shaggy brown mane, he changed course to try and grab ahold of Elsie. She had plenty of unmarked fur they could use as a canvas if his plan worked. Somehow he doubted it. After all, scholars rarely win at war when it comes to warriors.

Her warning came too late, but that wasn't too surprising. The bags flew fast and Elsie was not a warrior by nature, so she wasn't attuned to the sounds of an attack coming. Even if it was really an innocent bag of colored powder instead of a weapon that might harm her. Esme liked to think she would have been better prepared, though she didn't expect to stay unscathed in this color war either.

As Myrddin threw another bag and then raced toward her with two more, the subleader crouched in preparation. Ready to take him down and probably sit on him. Though she was small, she knew how to leverage her weight so that she could keep someone down. Maybe. If they didn't know tricks to get her off of them. Then her and Elsie could cover him in some of the stuff. Without taking her eyes off of her cousin, she leaned to grab up another bag.

Only before he got to her, he diverted course. "Tricky tricky!" she remarked, racing forward toward Myr and Elsie. Figuring she could get one of them with her bag once they got to close quarters. She was kind of tired of being unmarked, anyway.

The next bag hit Elsie on the butt. “Hey!” she shouted, straightening her back as she laughed, then turned to see the other two squaring off, and then she didn't know whose side she was on. It would certainly take two of them to best Esmeralda in a color fight, given her actual fighting skills and so she waited, hoping for an opening to get either of them with the powder bags she was currently holding. It seemed like it was about to turn into a wrestling match, and together they would present a nice target for Elsie - or so she hoped. Surely she’d manage to hit one of them that way.

Of course, that was not how things worked out. Suddenly it appeared that the alliances had changed and Elsie's eyes widened.

“Woah!” She let out a squawk as Myrddin grabbed her, then laughed again. She pushed her hand forward, hoping to squash one of the bags of color against him, even if it meant she was collateral damage, and then she threw the other towards Esmeralda. Elsie knew that for the moment, she was definitely the underdog, up against both of the others at once, and she hoped to at least go down with a fight.
