Ves is creepin' up on Ditzy, who has a small wound on her leg that can be treated. Snap can freak out at her as needed. xD Vesper doesn't know much about animals.

Little chimes rang out as a ram trotted to a better patch of grass, nibbling hungrily and pawing at the thin layer of frost to find any trace of greenery, while two goat kids chased each other around a glacial rock, hopping off their father. Not fifty yards away, the donkey stood guard, twitching a long ear and turning his head at the sound of another little sheep bleating from farther off.

Vesper lounged in the cold, frost-tipped grass at the edge of the Village, watching the antics of the oddball herd. She tolerated their presence near the home for Myri's sake, even if instincts caused her to salivate at the fatter ewes. Not many of them would be fat this season, though; while it was a feast for canines, it was slim pickings for herbivores. The nearest ram gave up on his little patch of grass and cantered off to bully his rival off a nicer tuft. She snorted at the clack of horns and pushed herself into a seated position, leaning her neck into a scratching hind paw until the itch was satisfied. One that was done, she eyed the rock the kids bounced off of, deciding that it had warmed enough in the weak sunlight to feel good on her belly. She pulled herself languidly to her feet and approached it, ignoring the wary glance from Farai and the skittish hop of a younger goat.

Padre ignored her, only watching her with lazy curiosity as she leaped onto the stone and circled a few times before pausing mid-turn. Pale eyes settled on a speck of red on the haunch of the white fat white goat, which was limping along with her children. A frown tugged at Vesper's muzzle, and she sniffed, drawing in the scent of blood. Dropping slowly off the rock, she began to pace after the goat, and fell into a hunter's slow gait as Ditzy jingled along, her chime collar singing and her limping skips oblivious.

Sorry for slow!

The chill had truly come to the moors and icy pines. She was more prepared for this winter though, having worked the fall season and eaten well for her pelt grew out warm and thick around her narrow chest. The lean coyote still wore a cloak when she walked about in optime though. Snapdragon enjoyed the comfort of a cloak and with it, she had pouches on the innards and carried around some of her supplies and herbs. She often worked with the animals around the territory, communal or otherwise and felt it was easier just to carry a few things with her rather then be running to and fro.

Snapdragon enjoyed the cloak for the simplicity of its warmth though and she wrapped it around herself decadently. Making her way along a frost bitten path, she was unconcerned about where her feet took her. She had spent a good part of the early morning doing small tasks around the greenhouse for not much was growing this time of year. It was more an act of preservation and anticipation for the distant spring months. She always had big ideas about what would be growing the next season, between the medicinal and the poisonous, there were many options.

Her sanguine eyes caught the movement of the goat herd, quietly moving and grazing where they could. The goats were an important part of the cattle within Inferni and while they were normally good just wandering around. Inferni let them be for they were worth more than a quick bite.

Though, her feral eyes picked out the weakness in the herd very quickly when she noticed a white goat limping, one she recalled being named Ditzy. A small wound, easy enough, she thought as she checked her cloak. Though, as her eyes moved she barely caught sight of vesper among the frosty grasses. "Vesper," She yapped, both in curiosity and greeting. "I assume you're just going to catch her so I can treat that wound?" Snapdragon knew her words were a bit forward, but she always understood that Vesper was a little wilder than many of her clan mates.

sorry for suck (also see: vesper's expression)

She noticed the approach of the other coyote but ignored her presence, inching forward over the frosted grass. The blades bent in her wake, and her light steps grew a bit brisker as she neared the goat, tongue swiping across her nose.

Then Snapdragon called to her, and Vesper stopped. She inferred the small Lykoi's meaning and sat down at once, her ears pinned to her slender skull as she watched the goat limping along and lipping at the coldgrass. After a moment, the good ear swiveled back toward Snap, her long muzzle eventually following. You can treat it? she asked. She didn't think much of patching up animals, if only because it was so unusual and rarely needed. She'd little experience with domestic herds and barely considered that horses needed bandaged and fixed up, let alone sheep and goats. A limp on a herbivore was an invitation for predators in her eyes; it would be kinder to kill the creature than let it suffer infection or a slow crippling.

She grunted, perhaps in acknowledgment of her potential wrongdoing, then took up a brisk pace once more -- this time cutting around in front of Ditzy, lips curled in a growl to halt the animal though her posture was nonaggressive now. The white doe bleated uncertainly as her kids scattered, turning around to gawk at Snap before hobbling in that direction, away from the feral coywolf.

Sorry for slow!

Snapdragon couldn't help but chuckle when confronted with the Centurion's bemused expression. Snap imagined that if Vesper had been by herself, the goat would have made a swift and clean end but there were more uses for a goat than just a quick meal. And the wound, from what she could see from a distance, wasn't severe, a simple laceration probably from jumping over something a little bit too high or an ungraceful tumble, characteristic of an over enthused goat.

"Of course," She replied, as if the answer had been an obvious one. "I know a lot about herbs and animals and it sort of just goes together. I can at least patch her up, make sure she sees a few more years and probably more kids as well." Vesper probably didn't have much experience and that area, but Snapdragon couldn't blame her. Before she came to Inferni, she knew very little except how to fight dirty and vaguely take care of Prim. Now that she was here, her dirty fighting skills had certainly suffered but they were replaced with an intimate knowledge of horses and a growing idea about plants and their uses. And she had no doubt that Vesper had plenty of knowledge that she couldn't even think of.

When Vesper rounded about the goat, Snap walked swiftly to join the little herd of goats that were all looking a little uncertain. Much of the time they were left to their own devices but were somewhat familiar with Snapdragon and a few of the kids hopped over to investigate the small woman.

Ditzy was looking perhaps the most nervous though, and eyed them, not moving much as she removed weight from her injured leg. Up close, it looked treatable, which was good, because otherwise she would quickly become a coyote's lunch. "Oh, this isn't so bad," Snap assured Vesper, though she thought the coywolf would have rather eaten her. "A little of this and that and she'll be right as rain." The coyote turned open her cloak and pulled out a small flask of water and began to wash the wound out.

292 BACK IN MY DAY WE DIDN'T HAVE THESE CONFANGLED CONCEPTS LIKE DOMESTICATION

Her tattered ear twitched in what might have been irritation or self-consciousness when Snapdragon chuckled at her. It wasn't until the female responded with a rather blunt "of course" that the Centurion twitched her lips up to show her teeth, warning her. Much of her life (it was a fraction now, wasn't it) she'd been looked down upon for her inability to shift, or rather her ability to make a goddamn decision for herself. Vesper had had that taken from her, and she'd come to accept and utilize many of the advantages that both the virus and Inferni provided her, but that didn't mean that she wasn't still sore.

Coyotes didn't need little white nanny goats to survive. All they needed nature had already provided them -- companionship, territory, tooth and claw. They had fur and meat, no need for wool and milk, and Vesper would be very happy to make that clear. She still had her pride.

If the weak thing keeps tripping and busting her skin open, I'll kill her and eat her before something else does the job, the coywolf growled, before she went to herd the goat toward the Regulus. Luckily, the stupid creature seemed to walk up to Snapdragon along with some of the smaller ones, hobbling until the small coyote could inspect her. She drew out a flask of water, running it down the wound to wash out debris, and Vesper came to sit down and watch, her bushy tail curled primly around her paws and her ears high.

Then a curious kid tottled toward Vesper and began lipping at her fur, until Vesper turned her head abruptly and snarled to make it skitter away with loud complaint.

OOC

Vesper was obviously very intimidating. Snapdragon thought that she could fight just about anything off, she kept the Clan safe and rather put together but it didn't mean that she was perfect. More so, Snap was just glad that Myrika was around to balance the callous Centurion out or they probably wouldn't have any goats at all. Just as well, Vesper knew how to control herself and Snapdragon didn't say anything to suggest she couldn't. There were still boundaries here, she knew. She wouldn't go all over the place running her mouth where it didn't belong. She respected Vesper too much to do that.

It was amusing to see, anyway, glancing away from her work to see the Centurion being approached by a curious kid. She almost pitied the poor goat but knew that it was better for him to be a little afraid of their coyote captors. "You can't blame them, they're not very smart." Truly wild creatures were a bit quicker than these ones, but they had learned how to surivve on the land fairly well and even with limited supervision they were doing well and reproducing. Few outsiders dared invade these lands to make a nab at them either, though there were always loses from other types of predators.

"This would heal on its own, but I'm just helping the process along." Holding the goat close by, she popped a bundle of herbs into her mouth. She didn't have anything better than her mouth to grind up the plants. Her scissor like teeth weren't exactly made for the process but she did her best, spitting the softened wad into her hand before applying it to the wound. She knew those plants well, natural antibiotics and pain relief. A far reach from more modern equivalents but it did the job, helping preventing infection.

'

It stung though and the goat tugged at her leg. Snapdragon had a fast hold though and with a curled lip the goat stilled just long enough for her wrap some makeshift bandages around the leg. Undoubtedly she would be bothered by the bandages and would try to gnaw at them which prompted the coyote to add one more element. Chewing a new plant, her face curled at the bitterness, a shudder running down her spine. "Euch, disgusting," She murmured, smearing the bitter plant on the bandage and releasing the goat to rejoin her herd. "Goats are stupid animals, if I'm being honest." She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

-- We can wrap this up whenever you get your requirements if you need 'em still. <3 Idk if you wanted to write a closing post or what. :B Or we can continue if they talk about something else, but I figure we have other threads, too!

Vesper uttered a low, amused huff at Snapdragon's remark about the goat's intelligence, agreeing wholeheartedly. She thought most non-canines stupid -- though it was clear that this opinion did not extend to all animals. Years ago, she would have roped ravens in with the rest of them as mere pestering, scavenging birds, but Stark had shown her otherwise. He'd become an ambassador of sorts for his kind -- something she didn't think the goats had.

Her somewhat severe expression changed when Snapdragon began chewing up herbs. This was a process that she understood, having used poultices on her own wounds once or twice -- a trick she'd picked up but hadn't pursued as some had. What type is that? she asked, twitching an ear, and laughed at the look on Snap's face at the next plant. These were concepts she could wrap her head around, and she approached the Regulus with a sway of her tail as the goat pranced off.

Most beasts who can't speak are stupid, Vesper said, then reconsidered. With a grin, she added: Actually, most beasts who can speak are stupid. I suppose the goats keep their mouths shut, at least. She turned and watched the goat limping off after one of the kids, and smirked. I don't know. They can be intelligent in their own goat way, I suppose. Just that one's not the smartest of the bunch.

yeah this can be a wrap up post

Trying to get the last of bitter plant off of her tongue, she stuck out her tongue and spat into the snow. It left a green tinted spatter across the ground but it wasn't going to get better until she cleaned her mouth properly. Rubbing her mouth with the back of her hand, she might as well try. "Uh, that was a bitter plant to keep her from licking and chewing at her leg. It's rightly disgusting so hopefully it'll stay clean for a little while." She replied with a curled face, there were few things worth that kind of plant and if it got on her, she would never try to lick it off her fur.

"There's just a lot of stupid in the world," She agreed, rolling her shoulders. It seemed like she was adjusting well as she rejoined her herd and began to nibble on plants again. The goat didn't seem particularly bothered by the injury or the medicine that was on it now. She had given it a curious sniff and a lick, but the bitterness had been enough to keep her from pursuing the issue. There were other things for a goat to focus on anyway.

"I'll have to say, most animals and men are probably the stupidest of the bunch." She snorted with a roll of her eyes. They may be stupid but she was annoyingly bound to them. In a way, she envied Vesper that she could find content companionship with Myrika. Snapdragon didn't think that she could manage the same. "But I have to agree, goats have their little bouts of genius." They got into just about everything, so she didn't doubt they were clever in their own way. Glancing at the coywolf she gave a little snort, "I wouldn't think you'd be a goat sympathizer, since you wanted to eat her."

It was a playful little jab and she dashed her hands together, moving some of the dirt that accumulated when one wrestled with goats. "But I think I can trust them to your care now, or their own. They won't need me hanging around." Snapdragon had much to do with her horses but this had been a lovely little diversion and she had enjoyed helping the goat herd.
