OOC: Feel free to pp running into Lola or something. :D FORM: Optime WC:+558 words

Eggshells were what Lola walked on these days, but the Lead Diplomat’s hands were tied. Pons could hardly pass by as one of her relatives as he was clearly of some doggish nature, she ended up explaining him as an old “family friend”. Friend… he didn’t even deserve that title he was dirt, a bastard, the con artist... her savior, and yet, she still held so much hatred for him. And how could she not? She’d been broken when she was tossed out of her home and meant to survive on the streets on her own, but Pons, he was the true reason for all her innocence lost. He’d corrupted her and used her to his will, while under the guise of giving her shelter, food, and “love”. His love made her shudder and withdraw into darker thoughts, but Lola had been made an actress far before she could truly understand the circumstances or her present state. She put on a happy face and introduced the cur to her loved ones, inviting the viper into her home. There was nothing else she could do, he’d take what he wanted and hopefully be gone. When that collection would come she wasn’t sure, and what exactly he wanted from her, still a mystery.

She was troubled and toiled over these thoughts when left alone, but that was a rare occurrence. Scant moments of respite from the neverending facade came in the early morning dawn or sometimes late at night. She could tell no one of his true identity, it was her own burden to bare. Daily he haunted her with his cheshire cat smiles, and stolen moments of harassment and threat. If he didn’t bugger of soon enough, and the time became desperate, Lola decided she’d need to resort in poison, but how? And could she even do it? At one point she’d actually cared of for him, or at least was made to believe she did. All this inner anguish, these sinking thoughts, she needed a break.

Pons had taken off early (thank god), to seek out his contacts in Halifax. She didn’t press him for answers, whatever business he’d arranged on the side was nothing she wanted to be involved with. Something about smuggling or something since he’d docked in Freeport, that was all she cared to even know. He warned her to stay put and not to go running off her mouth, but how could she? His secret was as much hers, the shame and pain surrounding him and her memories was something she never wanted to reveal, let alone tell to her mate and family. How could they ever look at her the same way? Alistair knew she had a trouble past, but he respected and loved her enough to not ask. Good man her mate was, now if only she could keep this completely under wraps.

The Veleno desperately needed a pick me up and her teen kids were already out and about. Morty! The thought struck her in an instant. Her Medico friend was always good company, perhaps a little girl talk could take her mind of things. She struck out for the courthouse in search for her, thinking the healer’s room might be the best place to check first.

Morty had made a trip out to the greenhouse, her mind crowded with thoughts that practically ran into one another and started shouting. She was thinking of herbs to grow during the spring time that were the most useful and the easiest to cultivate. She imagined marigold would be a good place to start, but there were tea plants that could do with some growing as well. There were just too many plants and some materials she gathered were some trees. The trees she could figure out, but their growing seasons were a task unto themselves. She never wanted to kill grand old trees but sometimes she needed bark and there were no other trees for miles.

Chervile would be good to get growing, she had a few seeds she had traded for some time back, good for bellyaches and with everyone eating strange things these days it was good to have on hand. Though feverfew and goldenrod had their own uses among the plethora of plants she wanted to grow for teas. She wondered if she was going to crowd out the greenhouse with her tasks or if she would have to rely on the outdoors and if she did, she would have to start later with the seedlings in case a late frost came to rain on her parade.

Her mind was no occupied and her eyes locked on the ground as she took a familiar path back to her office. It nearly knocked her off her feet once she ran full on into Lola. Stumbling backwards trying to regain her balanced, falling back up against a brick wall. Morty was taller than Lola and rather sinewy but the medic was rather knocked off guard by the contact and the thoughts came falling out of her head. "Oh hello!" She chirped, feeling a little confused. "Uh, were on your way to my office?"

Flying on the wings of newfound happiness, Lola bounded up the stairs leading to the courthouse and had little to no trouble pulling open the big heavy doors because of the sudden energy influx. The large oaken things closed with a vibrating shush behind her, settling back into their place to keep out the wind and cold as a flood of scents surrounded the Diplomat’s muzzle. It took a couple of minutes for her eyes to adjust to the sudden subdued darkness, but eventually pale light picked it’s way into the swirling shadows. So familiar with these halls, the Veleno struck off to the right with a hurried pace, practically skipping in the direction of Morty’s office with a faint ditty stuck on the tip of her tongue.

Rounding a corner at her quickened speed, she almost unleashed a series of curses when she collided into the taller body of her friend. Oomf! She jostled backward, eyes looking every bit bewildered though soon that response changed into one of surprised amusement. With a grin spreading across her face, she nodded her head earnestly in reply at first to the Medico’s question. I was! And where are you off to? Her voice teasingly held accusation, a waggle of her eyebrow indicating a topic she often pestered Morty about, the handsome butcher Isaac. Finally decided to take up my advice? Get yourself a nice strong man...Isaac is just the one for you, you know, into all the gory stuff and all, you two would be so perfect together! A match made really! She started off on a tangent, linking all the reasons why Morty and the butcher just made sense together.

You know...with him being Tristan’s mentor and all, you could always spend some more time at the house! Yes, there’d be plenty of chances for the two of you to... well, interact, she winked, implying everything with that choice of word.

Brushing herself off and recovering for the collision she let out a breathy laugh. "Towards my office! But since we're both heading that way, we might as well walk together." The little collision had certainly cleared her mind from her worries for a moment but it didn't keep her from thinking for long. Lola obviously came with something to say and became chattering off before Morty could get her wits about her.

It took the poor medic a few seconds to understand what she was talking about when she started going all off about the butcher, Isaac. Now, it wasn't as if Morty hadn't noticed the very handsome butcher that made his living in Casa di Cavalieri. Quite the contrary. Morty had given the butcher plenty of her time and Morty was more than happy to share with Lola but she was very keen on talking in this moment so the medic just smiled and nodded.

"Isaac is very nice, yes, but--" She tried to interject when Lola took a breath but it was futile. One had to let these things run their course. When she did stop, heavily implying things with the word 'interact' Morty had her chance to jump in, explain herself a bit. And they had arrived at her door, which the medic pushed open.

"I'm afraid to say, Lola, Isaac and I interact plenty. I dare say it's rather embarrassing to quantify. It's all very functional, I just have no interest in that romantic business. You know, how very busy I am. Isaac and I get along swimmingly though and have quite a lot of fun... uh, interacting." Morty let out a chuckle and casually poked at the dying embers in her fire pit as though she hadn't just admitted to a potentially very long history with the butcher. "Would you like some tea?"

Collision sorted out, Lola beamed back at her friend and began to walk alongside her en route to her office while a myriad of ideas and words spouted from her lips. She’d been dreaming up Isaac and Morty for longer than she’d like to admit and desperately wanted to see these desires come to fruition. Talking girls to the butcher was a lost cause however, so the Medico unfortunately got the brunt of her high hopes, which in Lola’s mind was totally fine since they involved Morty after all. When had she become such a pusher for love? She wasn’t sure, but gods did it feel good to get Pons of her mind for the afternoon and chat gossip with her dear friend.

If she was aware that Morty was trying to get a word in, she didn’t show it, only taking the smallest of breaks for a quick breath until all her good news and thoughts had tumbled out of her mouth. This was around the time that they had arrived at Morty’s door, and the Medico was letting them in. Indulgently, Lola looked to her friend as she began to bustle around the room, but soon felt as if her jaw was hanging down and drooping to the floor. You do what?! She squeaked in disbelief, lips seemingly permanently etched in an astonished grin, but she listened on and could barely contain her excitement.

TEA?! Her eyes had become massive discs. You cheeky fiend, deflecting and asking if I’d like tea?! Now the giggles came. Yes I’ll take some tea, but boy do you have some explaining to do! Lola relented shaking her head to and fro, still in disbelief that her friend had kept this delicious news secret. How….how is he? She asked with a wicked cheshire’s grin.

Lola took the news about about as well as Morty had suspected. The surprise was given, disbelief expected and Morty was very ready with the tea when Lola finally came round to the confession she had made. It wasn't a big deal to Morty, she liked t have fun from time to time and the butcher was interested in her and she was interested in the butcher. It wasn't romantic lovey dovey though the pillow talk was always nice. He was certainly desensitized to Morty's choice in topics.

Handing her a piping hot cup of ginger tea, she took a cup for herself and sat down in her comfortable office chair, lined with thick pelts. Morty grinned from ear to ear, laughing at Lola's teasing. "Well, tea is lovely at times like this! You all sputtering and mad as a hatter. " The medico joked, stretching her long legs out in front of her. She looked the picture of relaxed, fooling around with Jonas was not exactly a new activity for her. But perhaps she wouldn't admit that right away, she didn't want Lola's feelings to be hurt by being out of the loop.

"I am your loyal servent, any questions will be answered as I am at your command." Morty said with a bit of grandiose arm waving before taking a sip of her tea. It was a biting taste, certainly waking her up with the taste of ginger. Though, she almosy spit it out when Lola asked her first question. Morty's general level of high confidence faltered for a moment as she wiped tea off of her face. "Well, uh," She struggled for a moment, amused and sputtering at the same time. "He is very skilled, I must say. Uh, very well rounded, uh well uh... endowed," She managed after a few more well placed ums. "Does that answer your question?" Morty's cool facade had been successfully shattered.
