The ground was wet from the recent rain, and each leaf on each tall tree held water droplets waiting to land on someone’s head. Lithia had been walking from the castle to Oak Wood, hoping to find a lonely rabbit or maybe an injured elk for some lunch. So far, she didn’t smell anything delicious on the wind, but there were always possibilities. She ambled along, not walking particularly fast and not particularly starving either.

Totem was at her side, following behind her. She brought him along just in case she needed help with the takedown. He walked at her side in his Secui form, the form he was ordered to take for ease of defense and situation. He walk with his head lowered, and his feet blackened from the moist soil under his pads. The wet ground made Lithia’s feet itch, and the first rock she found in the forest, she took the opportunity to lift her feet off the ground and rest a while. Totem’s white body sat beside her on the ground, the moist dirt staining his heels and rump. He looked up at her with his piercing golden eyes, but never made eye contact. He knew his place in this world, and his place did not grant him the ability to look into another’s eyes without expecting a beating.

Lithia lifted one of her feet to check her paw pads. She pressed her fingers lightly to them, finding their soreness and ache. She had traveled far the day prior and almost reached the other end of the swamp, and unfortunately had to walk back as well. The ground was wet just like now because it was the swamps. She assumed that she couldn’t go adventuring into the swamps without protecting her feet from the overabundant moisture in the future.

Tzila had left in the afternoon to the swamps, in search of a quick kill for dinner. She thought she might as well train her aim, not willing to let her mother's lessons with the bow and arrow go to waste, and entered the sparse woods with ears searching for the flaps of wings or shy bird songs. The recent rains had made most of them retreat to the shelter of the trees, but the water fowls were sure to be enjoying the flooded lakes and rivers.

She had spent the last hours of daylight hunting with the borrowed weapons, and she was rewarded with two fat-looking geese that had been too worried fighting over a patch of grass to notice bright yellow eyes staring at them at a distance. Too bad for them, now none of them would get the meal. Tzila, on the other hand, would have enough for dinner and breakfast tomorrow. Luckily none of the arrows broke in the assault, but she did lose one to the bottom of the lake. Maybe she'd use the spare time to replace it, since she now had two meals secured.

Making the walk back to the castle with the extra weight was slightly less fun. It made her feet sink deeper in the mushy ground, and to get them unstuck again was just annoying. She was halfway through the path and already she had a heavy breath, tongue slightly out of her mouth, and her skin felt hot all over. There was a rock in the distance, not far from the trail, and she was beginning to consider resting there for a bit, when she recognized the two figures upon it. Making a straight line there, the Seere didn't bother making herself more presentable, slightly bent shoulders and dragging feet.

"Hello there, sister dear. Totem." She acknowledged both of them before heaving a sigh and moving the geese from her shoulder to over the rock so she could breathe without their weight on her back. Rolling her shoulders, she continued. "What brings you out here tonight?"

Having pushed herself further onto the rock, Lithia was able to stretch her legs out and hang her feet over the edge. The gentle breeze that blew by soothed her footsies and made Lithia consider taking some of the dried meat from the storage for a meal instead. It also didn’t sound like a bad idea to head down to the beach and soak them in the cool water for a little while.

The forest was mostly silent, save for a few bird songs in the distance, and eventually her sister’s voice. Lithia’s eyes snapped to the sound, and she scooted over on the rock, making room for her wilting sibling. Lithia eyed the geese the girl brought and wondered if Tzila would be willing to trade her one of them for an IOU sort of deal… She wouldn’t mind hunting for them both when her footpads felt better. ”Hey,” she replied, watching Tzila come closer. ”Just trying to memorize the forest…” Unlike her sister, it seemed, Lithia was more rank-oriented than Tzila wanted to be. Though, maybe it was because Lithia had an ulterior agenda that Tzila would never dream of.

”Hunting?” she asked, eyes pointedly gracing the geese. Though, seeing her sibling in such a pitiful state urged a chuckle from the dark Napier girl, ”Why do you look so tired?” She couldn’t imagine shooting geese could have been that taxing.
