Nostrils flared for a moment before her nose wrinkled at the collective scents festering along the border, the warning signs more than evident as she absently toed the not so invisible line that divided the claim of the coyote clan from the rest of the realm. A hand rose to ease the tip of her index claw down the length of what used to be a wolf's snout, the sun-bleached and weathered bone of the skull making a hollow raking sound in response. With a soft tap to the sliver of bone where a nose used to be she smirked and straightened up out of her leaning posture, bright gold eyes moving peer inward toward the patch of forest just beyond the makeshift fence of stakes and skulls. In the trees an unkindness of ravens seemed restless, discontent with the stranger lingering uncomfortably close to the border, fiddling with the décor.

Her mischievous little smirk broadened into a playful smile as she waved up at the birds watching her, the soft pink tip of her tongue exposed in a tease as she wiggled her head a little at them, hoping a few would fly off to report her suspicious behavior. Unsurprisingly a few of the flock broke away and fluttered deeper into coyote territory, rousing a soft and triumphant chuckle from the huntress who then turned away from the border and strolled toward her horse. Indra nickered softly as her hand reached up to tousle the dark ebony of his forelock. "Won't be long now, šukar." She mused, wondering who could come to deal with the stranger skulking about the border. She was far enough outside of the scent line to keep from officially trespassing, but still close enough that anyone passing by would have to take notice. "This is going to be fun."

I will reply to Daeva/Vicira soon hopefully. ;; Birthday weekend = slowbutt, haha.

A group of young birds assaulted her -- the worst of the tattletales -- and Vesper struggled to comprehend what was wrong at first as the juveniles cawed and squabbled and bickered over the details. The small coywolf was their perch, claws splayed on her muzzle, hooked into her scruff, and at once she gave a great shake and whirled to snap at them, croaking a singular order for attention.

The young spies settled, then. And she pried it from them, and began a confident jog toward the wooded borders.

Several scents welcomed her even before she emerged from the undergrowth: juniper, the electricity of storms, an exotic flavor that reminded her still of Enkiel. She smelled horse and fox and bird, too, and watched for these beasts even as she slunk into the open and flashed a toothy half-smile at the cinnamon-colored coymutt standing there.

The stranger smelled Lykoi, too. Vesper noted this and sat down, more confident and at ease than most Lupus-formed canines had a right to be around a taller stranger. What do you want? she asked simply, and twitched her ear at the murmurs of the ravens above.

[ 306 ] » No worries~ c:

It wasn't long before the sound of soft footfall found its way to her oversize ears and lingered there, redoubling, until it was enough to draw her attention away from her compatriots and toward the approaching other. Her gilded gaze was pulled first to the conspiracy of ravens cackling overhead, which all at once ceased their cacophonous clamor and hushed in the presence of the one eared coyote, who had moved to settle into a seated state at the edge of the border. With curiosity evident in her eyes she took a brief moment – no more than a few seconds – to give the small lupus a once over, admiring the collection of scars stitching their way through her pelt. She wondered, even as her maw parted to greet her, if this blue eyed femme was of some elevated standing within the coyote clan she'd come to learn was Inferni. "Hey there."

She let her simple greeting linger in the air a moment as she considered her answer to her question. The huntress had been drawn to Inferni since the moment she had arrived in the northlands and while she felt like there was a definitive reason for this, she wasn't sure what it was. The others she had spoken to – the charming stalker, the horse tamer, the star child – they spoke of this place like it was already her home, like coyotes and Lykois were already her kin. Aside from the traders and thieves she had grown up with the false goddess had never known a real family, and while she doubted she would find it here, it beckoned her regardless. "I'm looking for Inferni. I've been told that's where I belong." Gold met blue momentarily as she took in the other's scent. She wasn't sure what it was, but there was something familiar about it.

*crawls in, leaving a trail of slime*

Exotic as the stranger was, wild dark hair tumbling about a foxy face, when she spoke her answer Vesper could plainly see the Lykoi in her. Years of familarity with their heritage, though she didn't have a drop of that infamous blood in her own veigns, made the signs -- the faint gradient of red on her snout, the gold of her eyes -- plain as the dark blots of bird circling about the sky above them. Ves smiled, and nodded.

You're at the right place. You're a Lykoi, then -- blood of Kaena, same as most coyotes here. Whether she was a grandchild or a great-great-grandchild, it was all the same to the clan. She tilted her head. Not everyone who shares that blood belongs here, I'd say, but everyone comes here eventually. With as many that had left the clan, to look for peace or self-induced exile, no Lykoi could avoid the draw. Not even Myrika's father.

I'm Vesper, the coywolf added. I'm the Centurion here, second-in-command. One of your cousins, Myrika Tears, is our Aquila -- the leader. Her icy eyes washed over the other's face again, curious. What's your name?
