Some would have considered Lithia’s actions stupid. Who else would venture so close to a pack that they have helped destroy in the next few days? It was true, Lithia did have a hand in New Dawn’s disbandment and maybe she should have practiced more cautious standards by staying closer to her own home, but duty never stopped calling. If she wanted to climb the ranks to get closer to Kentaro, then she needed to stay focused and get better at her chosen Tier.

She knew her way around many places already. Naturally, she was more familiar with the lands around her home than she was with the ones nearer to her old one. Maybe when things calmed down, it would benefit her to take long trips and stay out in the wilderness to force herself to learn. If she had to travel the same forests every day for a period of time, she was confident that the area may begin to grow on her and she’ll start to memorize the trees in the area, no matter how similar they were.

Though, such plans were for the far future. With Casa di Cavalieri and Vinatta on their backs as well as the scattered New Dawn members, Anathemans needed to stay alert – especially Lithia. It was a stretch for her to be out there right then, but at least she knew to hide her scent and keep quiet around others. Even with Totem at her side, she could not fight her way out of an angry pack of ex-New Dawners.

Working her way through the Haunted Forest was a daunting exercise, especially since she was still sore from the fight and she ached. When Anathema had been right next to Eastern Realms, she had been too young to remember and too young to take advantage of the proximity. Now they were well out of the way of their former neighbors was when Lithia needed to make the trip North. She hadn’t come across anyone strange, and even if she had, her scent was masked. She smelled just as any other loner would – dirt, grass, and maybe a tinge of musk. The scent of her slave, Totem, was masked in the same fashion. They were well under the radar of anyone looking for any Anathemans by scent.

Eventually, they cleared the Haunted Forest and came upon a lake. Her massive companion lowered his white head to drink and while Lithia cupped her hands to collect water too… she had a better idea. Shedding her belt, skirt and top, Lithia eased into the cool waters until she was able to stand with the water up to her chest. She treaded the water, finding ease in swimming in this form just as she had in any of her four-legged forms. It was a strange natural skill… to know how to swim in a humanoid form like it was instinct.

Once Totem was finished lapping water, he sat at the bank, watching Lithia but also keeping an eye around them. His companion had not been looking about for herself, but he was looking out for them.

A journey founded in Greed. That was the hidden meaning of the SIlverstein pilgrimage. Originally members of the clan would be escorted by loyal warriors to ensure the treasure hunters would return with anything they found. It didn't take long for the clan to crave exploration of potential treasures. It is said many human holy places were uncovered by his ancestors. Hammish was no different than these hounds used to find greatness. He sought out the great prizes of Nova Scotia. Yet it seemed packs had already claimed these treasures.

One land lacked any claims. It was a resting place for the fallen of a once great fire. Before even entering the land he bowed his head in respect. Soon after he dashed in with eyes twinkling with hunger. He would not eat. He would not sleep. He would not drink until he found something worth his time. The land was desolate. The land spoke whispers of pain. Sorrow. It was what he was looking for. Any place that chilled your spine held treasures. In fact he pondered the shovel he had ted to a rope and hanging on his shoulder. Would he need to go beyond the surface to find treasure?

He couldn't be sure but he felt an old past time whisper sweet nothings into his ear. Cool water was ahead of him. Would the ancients want to stay all dry and thirsty when searching? Of course not they weren't allowed to fall ill so easily. Hammish chuckled he found excuses so easily just to play around. The Dingo dog approached the water before realizing the presence of a swimmer and a watcher. He would have turned away if it weren't for his shovel, hatchets, and the fact they seemed no more than visitors.

The brush rustled and footsteps crunched through the dried foliage and Totem responded with a deep, guttural growl. Rising to his paws and stepping away from the bank, he flashed dangerous fangs at the stranger who emerged from the trees.

The waters were so cool, so relaxing that Lithia couldn’t be bothered. Yet, when her companion turned away from her and began to growl, Lithia made her way to shore as quickly as possible. The water slowed her down, pushed against her legs when she wanted to step forward, but the stranger seemed to hold his ground as he was held in the orange gaze of the scarred, snow white demon. Once she reached the bank, she quickly grabbed a dagger from the pile of her clothes, stepping over it and splashing the surrounding area with stray droplets of water.

She held the dagger in front of her, between them, with her soaking wet fur and plastered wet hair. She didn't even bother shaking in the presence of this strange man with his shovels and axes. ”Tell me who you are before I let him,” he said, nodding her head towards the white demon, ”loose.”

Lithia didn't really intend on hurting this man... but her mother always taught her to be cautious because it could save her life one day. It was better holding someone at dagger point at first, then finding oneself in a bad situation next. Lithia personally preferred threatening others with Totem, but this man had weapons and he had leverage over Totem. Not so much Lithia, though.

He was greeted by an angry beast. It was getting hair raising. Hammish wanted a fight in a way. He wanted to feel his hatchet cut that mad mutts jaw clean through. Go ahead try and bite without your bottom jaw. Yet it held back. Why was this. The woman. A slave and master from the way the other canine moved and reacted to the approaching woman. Not a hard thing to figure out. Her threat made him sneer. Did she think he was some sort of newbie at survival?

He sighed as his hands were on his hatchets. He chuckled smiling softly. Despite his confidence in defeating the slave he still had the master to worry about. Plus he hated to fight as he thought about it. Too messy. Too many angry insults thrown around.

" I'm just a treasure hunter from Midnight Shores my name is Hammish, I was scooping out this area got thirsty, wanted to swim so I came here, and now you know the whole boring story, tossing that guy would just waste all of our time honestly." He wished he found treasure. But he felt that would only encourage her to toss the canine at him. Then he'd have to clash with her. It was such an ordeal that he felt his brain going numb with boredom.

Lithia was silent as she listened to the stranger’s answer. He didn't seem too threatening, and honestly, Lithia wasn't up for a fight. She was standing her ground in case someone tried to run her off. She was protecting “her” lake, but it seemed that her alone time would be interrupted now. Never taking her eyes from the stranger, she spoke in a firm, sharp tone, ”Sit.” Lithia’s ear flicked back toward Totem; it was the only indication that the command wasn't for the stranger. He sighed roughly, but sat his bulk down in command. His eyes still held violence and he never looked away, but he was idle for now.

”Did you find any treasure, treasure-hunter?” she asked, wondering if it would be worth it to rob him. He didn't seem to be carrying much - however, maybe they were valuable small things like jewels. Jewels were highly valued and easy to carry to a trade. They also always earned her some quality goods when trading. While the man answered her question, she considered the possibilities of this feat.

He found this pair quite unsettling in the most natural way. Unlike the more civilized beasts that roamed these two almost wore their entire criminal minds on their sleeves. Was it criminal? He could bet some good money that he had to kill more people than these two. A group of five jackals fell to his his technique. Hammish would not aim to provoke. He aimed to make it out of here with all his possessions. He aimed to make it out of here without anymore blood staining his hatchets.

Her question made the still stone faced man crack into a sneer. "I wish I could say I did but if you look around there is nothing, besides I am not one to trade my treasures I defend them with my life." He gave an almost beastly sneer. He wasn't one to be pushed around. He felt that itch in his heart and the voice screaming at him. He chuckled lightly looking out onto the waters. "If I had a repeat treasure then I would be more willing to negotiate for a good of equal rarity." He sighed happily.

"Forgive me for asking but what are you two doing here?"

The man was amiable on the outside. He was as neutral as she had seen on the outside of Anathema’s borders. There were others that sneered at her, toyed with her, and tried to manipulate her. This man… Well, he hadn’t tried any of that yet… and maybe it was because there was another with them. A male mind that thought the same way. And while he couldn’t speak, he could surely think and act just as fine.

”I wasn’t asking you to trade,” was Lithia’s chilled response. While she wasn’t exactly saying that she planned to rob him, because apparently he had nothing on him, she was definitely telling him that she didn’t expect him to want to give up his wares. Maybe it was best for both of them that he didn’t seem to have anything valuable and she didn’t seem eager to find out whether that was true.

”Taking a walk,” she responded, again shortly. She couldn’t tell him that she was out here trying to memorize the forests. That would be detrimental to her career, her rank. She needed to gain this knowledge without others knowing of it. ”My body is achy so I took a swim, and I’m going to resume that if you don’t mind.” She turned away from the conversation and carefully waded into the waters again. Passing Totem, she made a hand gesture that pointed to her eyes with her two fingers, telling him to watch the stranger. The white brute’s eyes flicked back to the stranger, and his lips pulled back ever so slightly.

When the cool water reached Lithia’s upper chest, she stopped and turned back towards the man. ”If you leave your things on the bank, you are welcome to join me.” And with a momentary pause, ”Oh, and don’t worry about him. He won’t do anything unless I tell him to, and you’ll hear me when I tell him something.”
