Family! :D

It was time!! For the past couple weeks Lyris and Luca had been discussing moving the girls into the house. When Luca became a Famiglia and moved into his faded yellow bungalow he had never thought that one day it would be his family home, but today it would be. He had snuck away early in the morning to add the final touches to the home – some fur bedding for the girls in the corner of the master bedroom and between the beds in the spare room, along with a cracked vase with the hardier flowers remaining placed on the kitchen table. The house was far from perfect but it would do for the small family.

With a massive smile on his face Luca made his way through the garden and towards the den on the opposite side of the rive. Fenris would he be happy to get away from that hole in the ground and back into a comfortable bed! He was excited to see the girl’s reaction to the house and having their own bedroom for when the decided they no longer wished to sleep with their parents. Surely they would be ecstatic to walk out the front door every morning to see the herd of sheep, the chickens, or horses wandering near by. Stepping up onto dry land he easily spotted his mate’s crisp white fur ushering the children about and waiting his return. “Are we ready?” He asked enthusiastically, scooping up Teagan high into the air with a chuckle.

Yaaaaaaay~! :D (+317)

“Geeeet it, Indiiiii!” The cream-coated wolfdog squealed as the dragonfly easily evaded her. Her paws smacked the dirt where the insect had been hovering just moments before. Fearless hunter as she was, the crafty thing seemed to always be one step ahead of her; dodging her snaps and paw slaps left and right. It frustrated her to no end! Surely, with her sister’s help though, they would capture the buzzing creature. “Don’t let it get away!”

Waiting idly for their father to come back had become too tedious for the restless child. Their parents had made it seem like the day was a special one…for whatever reason. When she had pried though, she had not been given the fulfilling answers she would have hoped. “You’ll see.” What would she see? What made this day better than the rest? “It’s a surprise.” It had been a new word she had learned, surprise. Special—in other words—a secret that would make her happy. But…hoooow? She didn’t like the suspense!

Teagan had been ready to charge after the dragonfly once more when a familiar figure came into view. The whelp came to a skidding halt as her pale yellow eyes alighted onto the Luperci that crossed the river that laid in front of their current home. “Daddy!” She yipped excitedly, rushing over towards her parental figure with her tail swinging behind her. She let out content squeal of laughter as he scooped her up. “Higher! Higher!” She begged, almost missing the question that had been asked.

When it did finally reach her, the Stryder child’s head looked towards her mother anxiously, searching the sapphire-eyed she-wolf for any betraying signs of what their father meant. Was finally it time?! Her attention swiveled back to her father, a smile spreading widely on her lips, “Are we gonna see the Surprise?”

Woop woop! [327]

Indi’s wordless joy escaped her in a series of meaningless yaps as she dashed along, easily keeping pace with her sister with long, loping strides that somehow hadn’t resulted in her tripping up over her own feet. Yet. The buzzing insect jinked back and forth as it flew away from them, and Indi could swear that it seemed to be mocking them in its own insect way. Indi had been mostly following Tea’s lead on this particular venture, but at her sister’s shout Indi sprang into action.

“I got it, I got it!” she howled out, pushing herself forwards. While there wasn’t much yet between the sisters in terms of build, Indi was just slighter and sleeker enough to put on an extra burst of speed and pull ahead of Tea. The insect’s lead lessened inch by inch and soon, when Indi could practically taste it on her tongue, she lunged forwards with a (comparatively) mighty snap!

Unfortunately, the only thing she ended up tasting was dirt. Somehow, right at the last minute, Indi had managed to step on her own foot and went sprawling to the ground, rolling half a dozen times before she came to a stop with a nice sized clod of dirt wedged between her teeth. She spat the dirt out and spluttered, ears drooping comically like a pair of deflating balloons as she watched the insect fly away to freedom.

Her ears soon perked up again when Da stepped up from the river, and the thoughts of the surprise that had been promised rushed back into her mind. Indi launched herself up from the ground to rush over, following right on Tea’s heels. While Tea was lifted high, Indi immediately set herself to attacking Da’s lower half, winding herself around his legs and whining excitedly as she nipped at his ankles.

”Yesyesyesyesyes, we’re ready!” she babbled, tail little more than a white blur, thumping into Luca’s leg as she squirmed about.

POOPERS (+300)

With a reverence rarely witnessed, Lyris covered the mouth of her birthing den with the woven branches. Over a period of time, spent outside babysitting the girls, Lyris had collected thin branches and flexible vines along with an array of vibrantly colored leaves and forced them to her will, the end result being a square-shaped thatch with scarce a hole for moisture to seep through. Their time in this den was done, and Lyris refused to leave it to be shaped by the unforgiving elements or a pesky animal. Glancing briefly over her shoulder to witness Teagan and Indi sprinting across the grass towards a dragonfly, Lyris smiled to herself before returning to her work. After securing the cover by weighting down its edges with rocks and dirt, the mother rose and with a final look returned to her charge, just in time to witness Luca's form clear the rise and Indi take a nose dive to the ground.

"Indi, you must be more careful. It's too early to be knocking your teeth out." With a gentle hand, Lyris moved to right her daughter, but took a moment too long. The vibrantly patched pup was already on her feet and racing once more to her father, whom Lyris greeted with a sarcastic smile and brush of the hand. "They definitely are." She almost sighed, looked down to find Indi frantically bumping into Luca's leg repeatedly. With a sweeping motion, the Stryder lifted the blue-eyed girl, first by her scruff so that her feet dangled, and then steadier with a hand beneath her small paws against her chest. "Alright, I guess its time for the surprise." Lyris' eyes shimmered as she met the blue-gold of Teagan's gaze. At this point, it appeared that Indi's sight would remain bluer than blue, while her sister's transformed into the striking gold of her father. Like in ever sappy story, Lyris was blown away by how quickly her children had grown. With a nod and a soft smile, Lyris led the way back to the house.

Lyris and he had been keeping the big move a secret from the pups – a surprise they had called it, and the new father was more than ecstatic to be moving the girls into the house. Although he appreciated his mate’s feral history this was Casa, and it was time his children were introduced to their packmates and the pack culture. After all, Casa was founded by their great grandfather, it’s values ran deep in the Knight family tree, like water soaking through the roots of a tree and into the leaves.

Although his pants were now soaked from the river Luca smiled broadly at his daughters’ antics. Teagan, his little mini-me, charged towards him and squealed out of happiness as he lifter her higher into the air above his head before bringing her against his chest. He knew all too well that his baby girls would one day be to big to carry and he was passionate that he should hug and carry them around as long as they would allow him.

At the mention of the surprise both his daughters grew even more excited – if it was possible. He laughed in amusement as his social butterfly fluttered about his heels. Smiling eyes looked to his mate for confirmation that she was ready. The move would be easy for the pups, he was sure of that, but Lyris had only spent a couple of moons in the house since their mateship and was not accustom to living in buildings yet.

With the sarcastic confirmation Luca quickly followed in his mate’s stride, through the gently flowing river and out the other side. As his feet touched the ground he realized quickly that this side of the river was new ground for his daughters already. Once they were a safe distance from the river the father leaned down to let his excited charge run around and explore the gardens as they walked. With his now free hands he wrapped an arm around Lyris’ waist. "Stay close or no surprise!" He called to Teagan, who was more than pleased to be exploring new lands.

OOC: The gardens are a fair size and all natural so I figured they could explore this round before arriving at the house ;) The House is right beside the gardens. 200+ words

Sorry for the wait, y’all! (+446)

She squealed and laughed as she was tossed into the air before being caught again by her father’s sure hands. Her excitement subsided—though, only marginally so—when he brought her against his chest. Lyris and Luca exchanged words, and her cranium twisted and pivoted to look at either parent as they spoke. A small yip of joy broke from her when the older Stryder confirmed that it was time. They were finally going to see what the surprise was! She fought her way up her father’s chest in an attempt to sneak a thankful lick upon his chin for having finally come home. His arrival meant their wait was over!

Her pale eyes eagerly drank up the world that had been just beyond the water’s edge as their parents ferried their children across. It had seemed like she had stared forever across the river, her curious mind wondering what might have lied across the obstacle that their parents would sometimes disappear to. So many fantasied ideas had come to mind, but none were close to the real thing.

Once the family reached the other side, Teagan’s body itched to feel the new land beneath her paws. “Down! Dooooowwwwn!” She whined in a needy tone. She squirmed restlessly in her father’s grasp, but it was only once they were far enough away from the forbidden waters that he put her down. The cream-coated wolfdog bolted out of his hands and towards the nearest object that caught her eye. She stopped short of actually reaching her target though, her cranium snapping to search for her partner in crime. “Indi, come on!” She beckoned with a waving tail.

Her lips spread into a wide, mischievous grin before she took off again. Her leathery nose worked wildly as she sampled everything that was this new, vast, unexplored world. There were so many things to eat, sniff, and see! It would take her days to thoroughly investigate it all! Teagan darted here and there, her mind so caught up in exploring that she didn’t realize she had wandered too far.

When her father called out in warning, the young Stryder looked back with the puppy equivalent of a cross look. “Hurrrrry!” She countered, not liking how slow they were moving. Could they not see that there was so much more to sniff and sample beyond them? Did they not have the urgency to investigate everything they could before bedtime? Teagan turned to look for her sister to see what the koi-colored Knight might have found. Maybe there was something she had missed. Besides, it would give their parents time to catch up.
