(+301)

It had almost been noon before the cream-coated wolfdog had grown bored of the house. She had decided to take her adventures outside, where she could hear all the unique sounds of the village and feel the sun on her fur. She had been lucky that the day had been a nice one; neither too hot nor too cold for her puppy pelt. In the coming weeks, there would be less and less of them. This knowledge, however, was not something Teagan knew, and she threw herself into play as she would any other day.

She had been out for almost half an hour when another crisp breeze flitted by the masked pup. She let up a bark as she leapt into the air, her small jaws clamping down on a slow-fluttering leaf. The small crackle that resounded from her teeth capturing the fallen vegetation was satisfying to the Stryder child’s ears. Her tail wagged at her triumph, having been working hard to catch the various leaves carried by the gentle wind. The green ones weren’t as satisfying as the ones that had changed colors.

Teagan padded over to the small pile she had been creating. It wasn’t much taller than her, and the wind kept taking a few leaves with each blow, but, it was coming along nicely enough. She placed her new addition amongst its fallen brethren, and them nudged the pile to pack the leaves and make it taller. The deed done, the Poco looked around for her partner in crime. “Indi? More? Or is this good?” She asked. The koi-colored pup was privy to Teagan’s idea of the pile. What they would do after it was built was still unknown, but, that didn’t matter just yet to the whelp.

To protect the world from devestation! [363]

A wide yawn split Indi’s muzzle as she shifted on her perch, stretching her back out and letting out a happy little groan as the warmth of the sun soaked into her. Usually Indi would have been down with Tea, jostling to try and collect more leaves than her, but she had worn herself out with all the excitement over moving into the new houseden earlier, and Tea seemed happy to set about doing the hard part of the work instead.

So instead Indi had set about lording over the work from her (not so) lofty vantage point of a nearby fallen log, watching Tea dash about through half-lidded eyes as she dozed happily in the sun. Indi’s tail wafted around idly as she watched Tea catch another leaf and she had just started to close them, muzzle snuggling down into the crook of her crossed legs where it lay propped up, when Tea’s shout jolted her into wakefulness.

Quickly shaking the sleepiness out of her eyes, Indi craned her head to gaze upon Tea’s glorious creation. “That’s great!” she chirped, rising to her feet and balancing precariously on the log. The pile was just taller than herself, and looked to deliciously inviting that Indi couldn’t contain herself. With a wiggle of her hindquarters, she dropped into a play-bow and threw herself forwards.

“eromino!” Indi yapped happily, misquoting a word she had half heard once as she launched herself into the air from the log. The puppy flew ungracefully through the air and hit the pile with an oof, disappearing inside it in a puff of leaves. For a few moments the area was deceptively quiet, and then Indi rocketed out the side of the pile, shrieking in a mixture of delight and disgust as she rolled around and flailed at the clump of damn, dark leaves that had stuck themselves to her muzzle.

Eventually she managed to get the worst of it off – though a thin coat of dirt and one stray leaf still clung to the snowy fur of her muzzle - and pulled herself up into a sit, tail thumping the ground as she grinned at Tea. “That was awesome!”

Hahahahahaha~! (+522)

She let out a small giggle as Indi was startled from her slumber. A playful, impish grin spread across her lips, humored by the whole ordeal. She shouldn’t have been napping anyways! There was too much fun to be had! When the koi-colored child examined her sister’s work, Teagan’s charcoal ears perked forward, eager to hear the reply. She hoped Indi would be fast about it though, as another gust of wind was due any second now. As the sleep was cast from her eyes, the Knight passed her judgement, and Teagan’s smile broadened.

“Whadd’you wanna do with it…now…?” Her words faded on her tongue as she saw her sister rise to her feet. At first, Teagan wasn’t sure what her sibling had in mind, but, as Indi readied for a pounce, the Stryder child’s tail rose and began to wag in anticipation. She was going to jump in it? Brilliance!

Indi let out a word of warning just before she leapt into the pile of leaves. Teagan let up a loud round of laughter, her blood pumping at the exhilarating stunt. A few of the gathered vegetation were launched into the breeze upon Indi’s descent into the pile. For the most part though, the orange-hued leaves looked to have simply swallowed Indi whole. Not a piece of her stuck out; there was not a speckle of ivory to be found! If Teagan hadn’t just seen it happen with her own eyes, she would have never known Indi had jumped in!

Her laughter dwindled off though as silence enveloped the scene. The cream-hued wolfdog stared at the pile for a dreadful moment. Tentatively, she sniffed the air, and, behind her, her wagging tail dropped in worry. “…In…di?” All at once, the pile erupted with movement, and the familiar sight of her littermate burst from it. Her shrieks were what drew Teagan to run after her, both caught up in the excited energy and unsure if there was a reason why Indi had run off like she had.

It was a false alarm though, as Indi threw herself about comically. Stuck to her nose were a bunch of leaves. Teagan roared with laughter as Indi cleaned herself off, though, try as she might, she wasn’t able to remove it all. The Stryder grinned as she meandered over to her sibling. Once within range, the whelp reached over to pry the straggler still attached to the koi-colored sister. “It looked awesome!” She agreed, her pale eyes moving from Indi and back to the pile.

Her ears fell slightly at the aftermath of their fun. The leaves had spread out from their original base, making the pile flatter than it had been before. “You wanna go again…orrrrr…” Teagan turned back to her sister with a devilish grin upon her lips and a twinkle in her eyes. “You wanna go on an adventure?” She stole a quick glance towards the house. “Just you and me.” It was sneaky, but, Teagan had every confidence that they wouldn’t get caught.

ooc here! [251]

Indi’s face was mimicking her sister’s before Tea had even started talking, the mischief in the creamy puppy’s eyes spreading almost infectiously to Indi’s. “Orrrrrrrrrrr?” she parroted, slowly creeping closer to Tea. When Tea finally revealed her plan Indi let out an excited yip, quickly muffled as she glanced towards the house.

Indi had been itching to get out and explore the world ever since stepping foot outside their den, the sights and sounds across the river almost hypnotising and filling her overactive brain with daydreams and wild theories. However, even with the reduces ‘surveillance’ now that they had moved into the house, a life spent with at least one parent rarely more than a few paces away meant that Indi didn’t quite have the courage to venture too far by herself; not quite yet.

With Tea by her side though, it was a completely different matter; Indi felt as though they could take on the entire world when they were together, a quick jaunt out into their pack’s territory should be nothing!

“Yesssssssssss,” she hissed happily, tail wagging so hard that she was wafting about some of the loose leaves behind her. Even though they could still be clearly seen from the house Indi dropped down into a ‘stealthy’ crouch, sidling right up to Tea and glancing about conspiratorially before speaking in low tones, “Where to?” There were so many places and things Indi wanted to see rushing through her mind that Indi couldn’t possibly choose one herself!

CHICKAAAANS! >8D (+376)

Indi’s enthusiasm for the traitorous suggestion that would soon spill from her tongue only fuelled the devious child’s want for exploring unsupervised. It had been a rhetorical question in the long run. Teagan knew her koi-colored sister would not deny her, not when she knew the Knight wanted this just as much as she did. They were two peas in a pod, inseparable and supportive of one another. It was a fact that would be hard to change.

She found herself stifling a giggle as she played along with Indi’s sudden switch to stealth mode, “Shhhhhh!” She knew she could count on Indi to not blow their cover, she was such a clever girl! When Indi’s sapphire gaze snuck towards the house, Teagan’s, once again, did too. They had to make sure they weren’t caught, or else they would be confined—or, worse, in trouble! The inspection of the human dwelling did not reveal the watchful, all-seeing eye of either parent. The chance that presented itself before them would be once in a lifetime! It was now or never!

Mischief emanated from the Stryder when Indi verbally agreed to her plot. Yes! This would be so much fun! As she sneaked over to her, Teagan dropped into a similar stance. The sister mulled for a second, considering where she wanted to take their adventure to. There were so many sights to see, so many places to investigate; she wanted to explore them all! Time was of the essence though, and the longer they waited, the more likely one of their parents would walk out on their secret meeting.

Finally, an idea came to the wolfdog. “I know!” She whispered excitedly, “I saw some weird am’minals yesterday before Momma made us come in for dinner. They’re fat and weird looking and walk around on two legs like Mommy and Daddy do.” Teagan started to stalk towards the southwest side of the house, beckoning her sister along with a nod over her shoulder. Once the topic of her interest came within sight, she stopped. “Over there, see?” She pointed with a paw to a widely-spaced group of animals in the distance as they pecked and scratched about.

Chickens! 8D Sorry for the wait! [308]

Whatever sleep had been lingering in Indi’s eyes was long since gone now, replaced entirely by two shining orbs full of mischief, hungrily drinking in the world around them as she kept pace at Tea’s shoulder. The energetic puppy trotted happily along, alternating between nudging excitedly at Tea and sniffing at various things that caught her interest.

“Ooooohhhh,” she cooed excitedly as the strange beasts came into view. They looked like nothing she had ever seen before; all fat and awkward looking, bobbing around their enclosure. They were clad not in fur like she was used to, but some odd material that looked so soft that Indi just couldn’t hold herself back. With a joyous cry she dashed forwards, towards the fence that held them in,dashing towards the nearest one.

Indi’s intentions were no more malevolent than nuzzling into the soft looking down that covered the strange beasts, but at the sight of a small canine charging towards them, the creatures scattered in a cloud of feathers and panicked squawks. Something clicked inside Indi’s brain at the sight of the creatures running away, and she began to instinctively give chase with a joyous squeal.

Not only were the creatures soft looking, they were fun to chase! Between Indi’s still-developing body, awkward clumsiness and inexperience in anything resembling hunting, the creatures were fairly safe from being caught, but they were just as incompetent at escaping as Indi was pursuing. The ones she wasn’t actively chasing simply formed up in panicked huddles, just waiting for her to change targets once again. “Tea, come! This is fun!” she yipped happily, skidding in the dew-wet grass as she scrambled around the enclosure.

No worries! (+364)

Teagan nodded expectantly as Indi’s gaze found the target of her interest. The Stryder watched her, pale eyes flitting between her sister and the animals. What did she think of them? Her tone sounded promising, and the cream-coated sister waited anxiously for any other cues on what Indi thought of the strange creatures. Should they sneak up on them? Should they try to talk with them? Teagan opened her maw to question her sister when Indi abruptly burst into action.

She blinked and was suddenly alert as the koi-colored pup’s form dashed off quicker than blink. “Indiii!” Teagan cried, having not expected the sibling to dash off without her. They hadn’t properly scouted out their prey! The plan was scratched for the impromptu one Indi had enacted. Hers looked like more fun! A devilish grin spread across Teagan’s lips as she threw herself after the Knight. Adrenaline rushed through her muscles and made her heart beat faster in the excitement of the chase alone.

The Poco hadn’t thought it through about what they would do once they reached the fat, two-legged beasts. All that was on her mind was following Indi’s idea in sprinting towards them. “Leave some fun for me!” She hollered as she drew up next to her sister and gave chase as well. The sounds the creatures spurred the predator in her, and the heavy-pawed sister kicked up her speed. Indi went one way, Teagan went the other. The animals ran, leapt, and fluttered in their panic, screaming out in their funny language that caused Teagan to almost topple over in hysterics.

The only thing that protected the strange creatures from their innocent harassers was the chain-link fence that surrounded their pen. It was a factor that the Stryder child quickly caught on to. Once her breath was returned to her, the troublemaker put her detective skills to work. Teagan paced the perimeter of the enclosure, her canary eyes scrutinizing it for an entry point. “Wanna get a closer look, Indi?” She pawed at the metal before testing her teeth on it. Dey ha’ do ‘hit in ‘dere scho’how…

ooc here! [430]

Scaring the fluffy beasts from the perimeter of their enclosure was fun, but Indi longed to get inside it and see if they were actually as soft as they looked.

Unfortunately, some delivish contraption blocked her way! The mesh of wire surrounding the animals looked thin and weak, nothing strong enough to stand in the way of a wolf! But when Indi charged forwards, intent on knocking her way through, she found herself rebounding backwards, yelping and pawing at her sore muzzle. Teagan’s more measured method of finding a way past the wire was less painful looking, but no more successful than Indi’s. Even when Indi joined her sister and began gnawing at the metal, it did little more than make her teeth sore.

“Maybe they flew?” she wondered, licking her lips instinctively to try wash off the foul taste of the wire. The door to the pen was actually rather obvious, but from Indi’s (rather short) perspective it was just another piece of fence, and just as likely to grant them access even if she had recognised what it was.

One of the braver chickens slowly began to edge towards them, letting out a meaningless squark as though it was slowly beginning to realise that the two puppies couldn’t actually get at it. Indi scowled at the bird and gave it a short bark, but the weird animal just scratched at the ground and stared at her. Indi huffed and stared back, but then watching the animal suddenly gave her an idea!

With one last bark at the bird, Indi started sniffing around the very bottom of the fence. The cold weather had left most of the ground hard and solid, but eventually she found a patch that seemed realtively soft. She began scrabbling at the ground, sending clods of dirt flying behind her in a spray as she began to dig a small hole. It took a while, but soon enough she was rewarded with progress!

Of course, progress was a subjective word. The hole between the fence and the new ground was far too small for even Indi to squeeze through, but it was a hole, and though it might have just been Indi’s imagination, the bird that had been watching her seemed to be looking worried.

Tea, Tea! Look!” she yapped out, tail wagging as she stood proudly by her work for a moment, before returning to her digging.

Teagan spat the metallic taste from her tongue as Indi wondered aloud. She considered the idea for a moment or two, glancing at the top of the pen, which was, indeed, open. When her pale gaze fell back onto their feathered victims though, she had her doubts. “They’re fat, Indi,” she answered as if it was plainly obvious. She hadn’t meant to put down her sister’s suggestion though, more, she meant to insult the fluffy things just out of their reach. “They aren’t built like Momma’s bird friend.” She referred to the bluebird that sung pretty tunes when they had been back at the old den. The stark differences in the two animals was enough that the child categorized them as two totally separate species.

She resumed her gnawing, hoping to find a weak link in the fence line. When one of the chickens let out a noise, Teagan took it as a taunt at Indi, at whom the bird stared. Teagan’s lips pulled back, and the cream-colored pup slapped the metal that separated them as if to get the chicken’s attention. “Leave her alone, fatso!” She joined in Indi’s barking, her tail flagged high behind her as she glared at the animals before them. She ceased her defensive actions when she saw Indi start digging at a low point in the fence.

Genius! Her charcoal ears flickered as Indi beckoned her and showed her her work. The Stryder child quickly scampered over to her sister, inquisitive eyes examining the progress of the hole that was being dug. “Good idea, Indi!” Teagan praised, her tail wagging as well. She threw her paws into work to help the Knight. They threw mud and dirt everywhere behind them as they gradually made the hole deep enough that one of them could slip under it.

When she felt the hole was a satisfactory depth, she withdrew and sent a glare at the chickens who had gone back to ignoring the pups when their barking had stopped. “You’re goin’ get it now!” Teagan growled triumphantly. She reached over to nudge her koi-colored sibling with her nose, “You go first. I’ll be right behind you.” It was only fair. Indi had come up with the whole digging idea.
