How sunshine steals from autumn frost

It would have been a lie to say that she was not looking for her mother. Or at the least: curious about her whereabouts. Lithia had roamed the northern forests with a dagger in her hand. She had not known what had consumed the split-scream woman – enemies, madness, death, or just plain freedom. Any of those could mean danger for her, especially if she was caught snooping.

Lithia skirted the Halcyon Mountain, keeping alert, but also keeping her eyes peeled. She didn’t dare go into their old home – the Howling Caverns – because of the life she knew lived in there. Saying that they were weird would have been an understatement.

However, her scout around the area had been fruitless. She found no trace of her mother anywhere. She had disappeared like her father had – without a trace or a trail to follow. Lithia wasn’t entirely sure what she would have done if she found her anyway. The Oriax was pretty angry with Axelle for leaving, and whenever she touched upon the subject, she became livid with the recent turn of events. She lost both her parents to the wilderness, but she was unable to say whether they were dead or not. In her mind, that was worse because she couldn’t properly grieve or get over it because she couldn’t stop wondering.

There had been a small stream in her path, and Lithia lowered herself onto its bank. Instead of cupping her hands, the she-devil leaned over the stream's bank and lapped the chilled water directly. Through the sounds of lapping, she heard soft footsteps of another nearby. She followed the sound with her ears, but for now, kept lapping. She had a dagger on her belt if she'd need it, and she had all the martial arts skills her mother had shown her before their falling out. When the footsteps came closer, she leaned up, scanned the area around her with dripping lips.

I don't remember if we agreed on a set place ~ but I can adjust anything here :) [300+]

OOC - Works for me. +300 words.

Haunt and her brother had been having a mix of reception since coming to the area. There had been those that caused problems, but then again some that didn't. The siblings had been doing their part in keeping their distance away from others, though it was not like they could completely claim the area in which they had settled down. They had to admit though that the strong scent of burning flesh was enough to ward off anyone who might be curious. In the off chance that this did not have that effect, at least it would give the two a chance to find a sacrifice to offer up to Tak. Then again, finding black wolves around the area seemed a harder task than the two of them were expecting.

Although this was the case, they were enjoying their time alone. The two had made time for each other, at least time together that envolved laying around and not out hunting or partaking in their religious customs. They still played their games with each other, but no matter how hard he tried, the red stained man could never get the upper hand on his sister, not that he minded of course. He loved her all the same, and so too did she him.

The pair moved about their mountain, eyes trailing along the area as they did. It seemed there would be nothing to bother them today. As they did though, Horror stopped and turned his head down towards the source of water near there. Someone else had come to the mountain. For what reason? Green and red eyes turned on the figure in the distance. From where they were, it seemed like this stranger had a dark coat to her. This would be perfect. Perhaps now they would be able to send Tak someone much more worth while. Haunt took up a position and waited in silence. Horror moved down the trail to her, though it seemed he had not gone unnoticed. A smile curled on the lean man's face as she spotted him, "A dangerous place for a black wolf such as yourself to be wandering."

How sunshine steals from autumn frost

There had been footsteps in the distance that Lithia’s ears picked up on. But by the time she rose to her feet, a man had approached from behind. His voice was smooth, but his scent was unfamiliar. He didn’t smell like anything she could identify him with. Perhaps hints of cooked flesh, which Lithia associated with cooked prey meat – not cooked Wolf meat. His tone was somewhat threatening, but as ignorant as she was toward the Khalif religion and the other’s intentions, she took it as another male trying to scare her off.

When Lithia turned to face him, she revealed much of her silver-lined midsection, arms, legs, and paws. Her brows furrowed in annoyance, knowing that she was not all Wolf.

Hybrid,” she corrected irritably, following him with her pink eyes as he moved. She couldn’t help but think about the comment he made about her. Black? She had never thought of herself as fully black. Sure, her coat was dark and it was frosted, but she had never identified truly with black.

”Everywhere is a dangerous place,” she said, invalidating his statement. She felt his predatory gaze bearing down on her skin. Whether or not he meant to show it, it was leaking through his body posture.

Good! :) [000]

OOC - +300 words.

Although he had been putting on a mask, Horror's warning rang true. This mountain would be dangerous for any roaming black wolves so long as he and his sister lived here, and given that they had no plans for moving anytime soon, that would be for a good, long while. But it's not like they were going to just give away the fact that it was them. No that would ruin it for both of them. Better to get in close and then take them when the moment was right.

The woman had turned to face him, and the two siblings soon felt a small wave of disappointment hitting them. So she wasn't full black or a pure wolf either. Every time it seemed like they had found someone they could capture, it turned out there was something off about them. Couldn't they just have one day where they wouldn't be disappointed by their findings? So far it seemed not. There would be plenty of other chances. They just hoped the right one would come along soon before Tak decided to punish them for their lack of proper food. Horror returned his attention to the woman, lowing his head, "Ah so you are. My apologies."

The black and white woman remained in her current position. She saw no need to come out of hiding just yet. For the moment, her brother was not in any sort of danger, and he could take care of himself. For the look that he had, he was still intelligent. Haunt was just the force to take care of the dangers when he could not. The red stained man's posture moved back up, straightening out as she nodded, "You are right about that. What brings you this way if I may ask?"

His intimidating façade seemed to wash over him as she corrected him. Apparently, she ruined his yummy Wolf dinner because she had not been what he was expecting. Lithia didn’t care either way. She wasn’t afraid even if she should have been. The red and black Wolf seemed to back off some after then. His tone changed from threatening, to conversational, which almost made Lithia want to chuckle at him.

What an indecisive Wolf…

His next question was no surprise to her. It seemed that any company she acquired while being on this side of the lands had always wound up being the inquisitive Canine, wanting to know where she was from, what she was doing, or what brought her there.

”I’m looking for someone,” she said, and it wasn’t a lie. ”Female Wolf with a black and white coat. Have you seen her on your travels?” It would have amused Lithia even more if she were aware that she had just described his sister.

”How about yourself? What brings you to these lands? Looking for Salsola or Inferni?” she asked, wondering which of the two he must’ve been heading to. They were located between the two, and if this man had been heading there, he wasn’t too far off. While the red and black man didn’t look like a Coyote, he could have been a Wolfier hybrid – like herself.

OOC - +300 words.

The female explained that she was looking for someone, a female wolf who was black and white. Horror couldn't help but tilt his head to the side a bit. The first woman who came to his mind was his dear sister. She was a black and white wolf. Had Haunt met this woman some time on her own? It didn't seem likely since the two wolves were at each other's side for most, if not all of the day. Everything they did, they did together. Orange eyes moved back down to meet the woman's pink ones, "I have met plenty of black and white wolves, though probably not the one you are looking for, unless you mean my sister. She is a black and white wolf. Perhaps you could be a bit more specific?"

Hearing the mention of her and her appearance, the black and white woman moved out of her hiding place, moving down to her brother's side. It would be a better indication to what Horror had told the woman about what she looked like. Haunt's green eyes turned down on the black and silver woman. She stood tall behind her brother, pulling the cloak that she wore over her shoulders. The cold of winter did not bother her, though she liked the feeling over the polar bear fur against her own. The black and white woman remained silent, letting her gaze linger on the other woman, watching her carefully.

Horror's attention turned from the arrival of his sister back to the woman in front of him. She wondered what it was that brought the two of them here. She had mentioned the names of what the siblings could only assume were packs in the area. They had no desire to be around a group since they had both left the mountain. They were far better off keeping to themselves. Horror had already been exiled once. There was no need for it to happen again. Horror leaned his back against his sister, "We came here to look for our sister. We heard she was around here somewhere. Decided to settle down for a while."

Lithia smirked as the black and red Wolf spoke of a woman fitting her description, but it was seemingly not the one she referred to. The one he spoke of was his sister, and as far as she knew, he was not her uncle. Lithia’s eyes left the man before her to quietly study the black and white Wolf that left the cover of the trees to stand at the side of her brother. No, she was not the woman Lithia sought.

”No, this woman’s colors are split down the middle. One side of her body is black, while the other is white. You’d never forget her if you saw her.” Axelle was an unforgettable sight.

Horror’s alleged sister had come to stand beside her brother now, and Lithia’s eyes carefully studied her as well. She fit the general description, yes, but she was not Axelle. The woman’s bright eyes pierced Lithia’s, but the Oriax acted unfazed to the woman’s chilly stare.

”Your sister,” Lithia said, her pink eyes roaming over the woman’s body from bottom to top before flicking back to Horror, ”doesn’t exactly fit the description.”

Horror continued to tell her why they set up camp particularly here, and Lithia’s eyes watched him, looking for the lies hidden behind his eyes. So far, she did not see any. He did not confirm whether they were heading to Salsola or Inferni, or who or where they thought their other sister was. She wondered if her description matched anyone she had seen lately. If she could get the red and black Wolf to owe her a debt, well... She could easily use him later.

Lithia wanted to dig deeper.

”Interested in a little trade?” she tipped her head with interest, eyes upon the male because she knew she could move him easier. ”If you look out for my Wolf, I’ll look out for yours. Care to give me a little information about her?”

OOC - +400 words.

So it was just as Horror had expected. His sister was indeed not the wolf that this one had been looking before. The man's mind wandered over to the other black and white wolves that were also siblings of their, though none came to mind besides Bane, which was the one that the two of them had been searching for. Once the darker woman explained that she was looking for a wolf who's colors were split right down the middle, then he knew it was someone neither of them had met before. Despite that, the mention of someone who was half color on one side, and another one the other, was sure to be an interesting sight, especially for the two D'Angelo siblings. Black and white were the colors of the mountain, and wondered which of their gods would lay claim to someone like this darker woman described. It just made looking for her something that they didn't mind doing, or at least more so Horror than his sister.

Haunt's eyes had not moved from the female that stood before them. They studied her, much like her pink ones studied the black and white woman. She watched them move from here and over to her brother as he explained their search for their other sibling, though they soon returned to their intended target.

Both of their attentions focused on the darker woman when she mentioned making a trade with them. If they looked out for the wolf that she was searching for, then she in turn would keep an eye out for Bane. Considering that the two of them had gotten the feeling that she was somewhere in the area that they had decided to settle down it, there wasn't much of a need for this. Even though this was the case, there was no problem with having another set of eyes. Besides, there was a likely chance they might not even find the black and white wolf that this one was looking for. The red stained man gave her a grin, "I'm sure we could manage that. What do you think dear sister?" Haunt moved her hand away from him, crossing her arms. Her tone was far more serious than that of her brothers, "Yes, but who are you?" Her question was directed on the darker woman. What would be the point in looking for someone if they didn't know who was looking for them in the first place?

As she had intended it to be, the male, Horror, was eager to trade information later down the road. He was all too eager to look for Axelle, while Lithia looked for their lost sibling. While Horror seemed to be bought, it was the female, Haunt that needed to be persuaded. The woman had been watching her, Lithia noted those green eyes roaming over her body, looking for a sign of some kind; something that would tell them who Lithia was, where she came from, and what she could provide them with. However, luckily the Napier daughter hid her scent, and even luckier, these two were ignorant to the packs around in the area.

”Lithia,” the Napier answered with a smirk. Really, the woman would never know where to find her, but it was polite to offer a name when asked. ”But if you find this woman, don’t tell her that I’m looking for her. Just tell her to stay put.” Because even if it wasn’t in Axelle’s regular hiding place, Lithia would eventually find her.

”What is the name of your counterpart?” Lithia asked, tilting her head ever so slightly to one side, again, her eyes on Horror instead of Haunt.

OOC - +300 words.

At least the darker woman was willing to part with her own name. Lithia. The two siblings watched the smirk growing across her face. Haunt's eyes narrowed, though Horror showed more attention in her words than the black and white sibling did. Lithia instructed them that if they were to come across the wolf that she mentioned, they were told not to tell her that Lithia was looking for her, but rather to stay put. Horror drew a smirk on his face as his muzzle pointed up to his bulkier sibling. That was something they were very good at. Should this wolf refuse to do as they instructed, they would have no problems making her stay put. At least then it would make things easier for Lithia should she decide to return to the pair.

Haunt had noticed that the woman's pink eyes lingered more on her brother than they did on her. It was to be expected. That of course did not keep her green eyes away from her. "Well, I suppose it is only fair. I am Horror and my sister here is..." He had paused, playing his little game of making her speak, "Haunt." Horror's voice chimed back in once his sister was done, "Now.. we have many siblings, but the sister we are looking for is named Bane. She too is a black and white wolf, though has much more black on her than white. She's only got white on the tip of her muzzle and chest, as well as her hair. The rest is black. We heard she was somewhere around this area." Further instructions were not needed. They had given the woman their names and their sister. All she would need to do was tell Bane they were looking for her.

The exchange of information had been made. Unless the woman found something more that she wanted, perhaps it was time for her to clean out of what the two considered to be their land. It's not like anyone was trying to challenge them for it, though anyone would be stupid to. Haunt's body leaned forward towards Lithia, her muzzle curling upwards to display a couple teeth, "If you have no more business her, I suggest that you leave."
