Naya manages to break free and seeks to help Enzo escape; quick to discover this plot, Sapiens must apprehend her and bring her back under control… but it would seem Naya has other plans and would rather die than be kept a prisoner; but not until she’s caused pain to those of the pack that killed her brother. Expect injuries, because Naya is going to go down fighting!
Please note the following details :
  • After Ardoise interrogated the prisoners and questioned his father all of the following details in this post are considered believable by all pack members
  • The two prisoners, Naya and Enzo, have been held in two separate locations
  • Cortez was the first to discover that Naya was missing, he and Nivosus have gone to pick up her trail

The morning was cold, the layer of snow thin but hard and he crunched through it. With Nivosus at his side Ardose spoke in a low voice, Yes, execution is extreme. But it isn’t off the table yet. His breath then left him with a heavy sigh.

The two had spoken deep into the night about the current matters, and the gray and black male was still on the fence as to how to deal with the prisoners. His father’s feelings remained hidden, though possibilities of all extremes had been spoken between them.

His mind could not help but drift to their fallen Sapien, his heart pulled and wrenched as a picture of Diarmid’s body passed over his mind’s eye. Anger bubbling up and threatening to boil over. He looked at his father, red eye glancing over his composed form.

Diarmid was dead, and just some of those responsible were in their custody. Ardoise had questioned them; first gathering facts before letting his emotion control his reactions. With their information, claims of Ardo’s pack stealing two of their horses, he had gone to his father. The one who had just brought two new horses home to their stables. In the night prior the Sagire had managed to interrogate Nivosus, and his single story never changed its details.

His father and the Opus Faber had traded for the horses from a now-presumed horse thief. His father had given the Sagire a full description of the male, shaggy and doggish and with the mangy condition of the horses it seemed like a legitimate deal. The poor trader only wished to have the malnourished horses off his hands so that he himself might survive through the end of winter.

Everything else, all that the loners has said, were just bitter accusations to fuel the revenge of a murdered non-luperci.

Now Sapient was to pay for the mistake of an outsider? Mistakes of non-luperci? The details and the claims swirled inside his head…. His father made a mention of his quiet, but the son only avoided his gaze, looking out over the grounds. It was peaceful in the dim light of dawn, yet his heart felt nothing of peace.

A hand was place on his shoulder, waking him from the short-lived loss within his thoughts. Nivosus pointed to the short coated dog that ran passed them, Cortez looked like a charging bull as he crossed the court yard.

The prisoner has escaped! the dog called out to them. In an instant the pair was pulled into action.

Ardo ran to meet Cortez, gathering from him that the female prisoner has escaped the shed beside the stables. Unknowing whether she would flee without her comrade or go looking for him, Ardoise’s sent his father and Cortez to track her scent.

Sounding the alarm he headed for the holding cell of the second prisoner. He silently and quickly praised his idea for keeping the two beasts separate, one by the stables and the other in a small building beside the Estate’s gardens. If he hadn’t they would have two prisoners on the run.

<"They look nothing like his goggles,"> Naenia informed Sylvestre in Spanish from where they stood looking at the training dummy that was slowly beginning to look more and more like Nivosus. With everything going on, she doubted that Tierney would find it as amusing as she had before, but Naenia wanted some sort of distraction.

<"You're right, Mistress, they could definitely be better,"> Sylvestre agreed, and she could tell from his tone that he was not just patronizing her. <"Anyway, you should go rest. You still look tired."> Her teeth clicked at that statement and she rested her hand on the hilt of her sword, which she already spent some time sharpening. She had not even started her practice for the day yet, and she had only gotten out of bed a little while ago.

<"Fine,"> Naenia snapped. <"I will rest."> She had no intention of doing so, of course, but she did not tell him when she would rest. Sylvestre knew her better than that at this point, though, but before they could argue a call of alarm had them both turning their heads. <"Later,"> she added in regards to the resting and they both took off at a sprint towards where Adroise had called from. Naenia spotted Nivosus and Cortez instead of the other leader, but figured this was good enough. She and Sylvestre came up on them from the side.

"An escape?" She said, confirming what she had gotten from Ardoise's call as she fell into stride next to Nivosus so that she could look up at him. Sylvestre trailed along behind them. Naenia wasn't sure which prisoner was the one to escape, but she guessed that it was probably the female, based on the injuries and infection the male had when she helped capture him. If it was him escaping, he should be easy to take down. The female, though, might cause more trouble.

Enjoy a brick wall to aid in your capture efforts! I hope this works and I left Naya open for reaction after she runs into Shaamah to maybe spice things up. :3]]

The sun had crawled over the frozen world, peeking above the trees without concern to the current tumult that Sapient was thrown into and it's recently lost combatant. Just as was the world, no matter what would happen to it's inhabitants, the sun would always rise the next day. Heterochromic eyes bore into it's weak morning shine for a moment as his breath fogged from the pastel tip upon his muzzle. There were those that might claim they could have done something to stop whatever had happened to Diarmid, and there were those who were at a loss and chose to morn his memory for a time. Then there were those that knew better. A shed tear would do no good and the past was unable to be changed. It was a waste of time to think so, or as Shaamah believed, useless. The dead did not come back and reward those who mourned.

It was something Shaamah had never experienced but many claimed that it was because the beast did not morn for those lost. Diarmid had died in battle, to protect his land, his claim and his family. It was the warrior's way to leave the earth without growing old and becoming feeble, only to watch everything you once protected break away in one way or another. Shaamah had seen soldiers who fought until age had rendered them territory locked, and he watched them fall apart as a war waged outside their walls. It was no way to go.

The beast moved on from the sheepish sunrise and continued a mid-land patrol. Nivosus's orders had him closer to the Estate and it's gardens rather than the borders where he was not given permission to patrol alone. Unfortunately for him, there were few souls in Sapient that could deal with his presence and fewer of them that were able to commit to the dangers of a patrol in these times, so the soldier couldn't travel too far out. That didn't mean he wasn't going to ensure that the Estate grounds were at least secure. It just so happened that he had found himself in the right place as the alarm was sounded for an escapee.

Dark harks twisted as crown moved to attention. Rather than setting off at a run, the beast surveyed. The gardens were still and the Estate was quiet, but the noise of the hunters searching for their quarry was not too far from the soldier at all. Seeing no motion in his line of sight, he turned to face where the call had come from and set into motion before he had seen the prisoner charging in his direction. Her crown was turned back, gathering the sounding alarm and blind in her direction for just long enough. The two of them saw each other but moments before they collided, and Shaamah braced himself, tensing the thick wall of muscle that lined him.

The prisoner fell back into a heap with a yelp, scrambling to get back to her feet as she gathered her mind and vision from the collision. She was met with was the hot amber and chilling azure of Shaamah's eyes, his black lips lifted in a snarl with ebon ears folded back and hackles raised to the skies. This woman was one of the two captured in retaliation to Diarmids death, and the soldier growled deeply. Despite the fact that he did not mourn, he was a not a man willing of mercy to those that claimed the lives of Sapient. A baritone, urgent call erupted from his mouth, his sights never leaving the woman as she hesitated for just a moment. They would know where she was, and they would be her judgement by Sapient's law.

awesome job guys!! lets get'er!

The scholar and Sagire had turned away from his normally calm self and let the anger and frustration of the situation fuel him. Reason has been left to last. Instinct came forth and he hunted as he might hunt a deer or rabbit. A rabbit was more like it. A dull, dimwitted creature with a brain made for fight or flight and little else. Any creature that did not choose to become a Luperci, if she was bred and born into the four-legged bloodline, was stricken with a small mind.

He ran, his red eyes picking up the figure of the canine. Paws quickened with the new hopefulness and a revived anger. She would not escape. Then he saw the gray creature stepping into the female's path. In an instant they collided, the woman having not chance against the black accented wolf.

She stood quickly, rebounding. Ardoise took action, Naenia! Ardoise called over his shoulder, the golden woman still in sight. The Opus Summus would need their help.

The prisoner, backed away from the larger creature, snarling and giving a nasty growl that Ardoise could hear as he approached the pair. He moved quickly, disregarding the more intelligent idea of formulating a plan. Instead he ran and leapt towards the female, tackling her to the ground.

They fell with a thud, his breath knocked out and he felt a sudden scramble of paws against his chest. His dark hands tried to grip anything, fur, body or limb. Anything to hold her. Still she moved in a frantic panic, trying to free herself from his weight.

OOC: Naya gets out from under Ardoise, Naenia gives her a minor slash on the shoulder, Naya claws Naenia's arm and takes a defensive stance. Lemme know if I need to edit! WC: 368

IC:
The sound of her name had Naenia turning away from the little group she was with. Her ears perked slightly as she tried to figure out exactly which direction the sound had come from. If her ears were pricked, it would have been easier, but she had to make do. Then she spotted Ardoise and took off towards him, drawing her sword. Sylvestre was on her heels and she caught up with Ardoise in time to see him tackle the prisoner in question.

At least she hadn't gotten too far. Her eyes flicked to Shamaah in acknowledgement and then she circled around, trying to decide how she could help. The female managed to scramble out from under Ardoise. And Naenia lunged forward, sword tip first. It was a weapon made for thrusting, and not so much for slicing, and the female was quick. Naenia was not sure what to expect from her as far as fighting skills went, so she went with the assumption that she was very good. Naya mostly dodged the attack, gaining a small slice on her shoulder, but Naenia was used to that; half her duels with Rafael back in Onuba started out in a similar manner.

Naya was without weapons, but Naenia knew better than to underestimate her. She took a defensive stance for only a second as Naya recovered, and then she was on the attack again with a lunge similar to the one from before. With the first attacks, she was attempting to figure out what they were up against more than anything since she was not present when Naya was initially captured. She was also unsure if they were meant to be capturing her alive this time.

Naya dodged this attack and Naenia didn't quite pull her arm away in time. A quick movement from Naya opened slash marks on Naenia's forearm, drawing a snarl from the Onuban as she dropped back, sword up in a guard position while she quickly glanced at the wounds to see how bad they were. They may not need stitches, but she would worry more about them later. Naya had dropped into a defensive stance and turned to watch her other opponents as well.

BOOM. Your go, Allie! :D

The call from a fellow Sapien rose alongside the quadruped that hopped to her feet, a name on the Sagire's lips that Shaamah could only match to a face that he'd never formally met. Despite this, there was no reason for them not to work together to bring down their common enemy. The beast took a challenging step toward the liberated prisoner and his throat shivered with the roiling the erupted from his chest. Luckily for her, A blur of black and silver caught her before she could attempt a break for it.

They fell to the ground in a heap, the wolven woman's legs flailing about as she scrambled to free herself of his weight. All the while, Naenia had circled the trio and had prepared a counter space. The soldier moved as quickly as his mass would allow as she sprung her weapon toward the prisoner, who'd somehow managed to wriggle out from beneath her first attempted captor. The fluid motion and diligent sword of the golden combatant aided her in claiming the flesh of the prisoner's shoulder, but not deeply enough to render her subdued. As the she-wolf and the swordswoman crossed paths again, it was the prisoner who planted scars against her enemy. The Sapien woman lifted her lips and drew back in order to assess her damage.

All the while, the beast had been moving in the background the battle. Only seconds had passed from the moment that Naya had been grounded by Sapient's Sagire and when Naenia guarded herself, and the well-trained bi-hued gaze of the warrior was assessing every instance of it. The prisoner would find herself surrounded on all three sides if Ardoise had managed to get to his feet in time, and it was no mistake that Shaamah had encouraged it. This lupine woman was no stranger to combat, but she stood in the thickest of quicksand when it came to any sort of upper hand; surely she knew this. While a cornered creature fought for their survival, warriors would always make better walls.

Shaamah's hands had clasped together when Naya had stepped back from Naenia, and as wolven eyes darted about to gather where her other foes had positioned themselves, two strong arms were given all of Shaamah's weight. One long lunge and a short strafe, and the brunt of his clenched fists found their purchase on the prisoner as she fell only moments short in her reaction. Paws left the cold earth as she was lifted and thrown to the side in Ardoise's direction; the soldier quickly erected himself and moved forward of lightly wounded Naenia so she might have an additional moment to collect herself should she need it. The beast carried on quickly, moving from Naenia's line of sight should she not need the extra defense, and becoming the background of the battlefield again.

OOC: I talked to Alli and okayed Naenia intercepting Naya :3 WC: 424

IC:
While looking over her arm, Naenia saw from the edge of her range of vision as Shaamah's hulking form crossed between her and Naya. She appreciated the moment of being shielded and gave more of her attention to her wound than she otherwise would have. Blood from the scratches stained her fur, and she would be paying a visit to Ciellen later, but it would be fine for now, if a little painful. Unfortunately it was her sword arm that was wounded; which would make her lunges and jabs a little less accurate, even though the wounds were small. She already felt a bit sluggish before the fight even began; this was another annoyance.

Naenia stepped sideways in the opposite direction Shaamah did so that her line of sight was clear that much more quickly. She was not entirely sure if Ardoise was recovered from his fall and so she continued moving with quick, light steps and did her best to intercept Naya just in case as she got to her feet, struggling from the blow from Shaamah. Naenia had been taught honor with her sword lessons, and so it went against her teachings to immediately go after someone who was down; she was meant to subdue and only to kill if necessary. It was necessary now, but it still meant a moment's pause before she lunged forward, slipping between Naya and Ardoise.

Thankfully Naya was slower this time and seemed a little wobbly. Naenia's first slash, aimed at Naya's stomach, opened a wound from hip to navel. It was not a deep cut; Naenia's sword was not going to gut her. Naya stumbled and Naenia advanced with a jab that just barely missed as Naya flung herself out of the way and the dance continued, this time with Naya backing up.

Without looking at Shaamah so as not to away her plan, Naenia herded Naya towards him and at the last moment, Naya seemed to catch on. She lunged for Naenia, who was forced to retreat a couple of steps. The prisoner's swings were growing wilder and in a way, more dangerous. They were less predictable, but also less effective. Even still, her claws once again found purchase in Naenia's flesh; her other arm this time, and Naenia did not retreat from the blow. Instead she advanced sword first, delivering a stab wound to Naya's shoulder. It was the escapee's turn to stumble back a few steps as blood flowed, and she backed in exactly the direction Naenia wanted her to: towards Shaamah.

Keen sights watched the quadruped as Naenia's blade caught the soft flesh of her gut, the soldier questioning her reasons for hesitation without changed features. The warrior moved about in the background of it all, surveying the new wound that she granted the rouge without so much as a wince or a blink. The metal did as it could to open the skin on the she-wolf, but it wasn't enough to drop her. Naya, despite, was still quick enough to escape a second attack and retreat a few steps in order to gather herself.

The veteran was no knave when it came to the arts of an unfair fight, and as Naenia moved efficiently when it came to the task of outsmarting her opponent. Naya knew what was coming, but in her furious fight for survival, she was losing tactic. Claws and teeth flew recklessly to bid her armed attacker to retreat. Even so, the she-wolf managed to land claws on Naenia's working arm. The golden woman moved into the attack, and Shaamah came opposite of her, moving in a few steps as the chaos of the scene continued it's combative workings. Her blade reached into the rouges shoulder, and Naya pressed back to relieve herself of it.

The iron cologne that drifted in the battle grew exponentially; the taste from the scent alone was enough to please the inner beast within the warrior that Naya had carelessly stumbled into. Her haunches met the sturdy column of his leg while her own foot became her anchor. Dark foot-paw stomped on Naya's hind leg and the leg attached to it, taut with muscle and heavy with the weight of the warrior, bore down upon her. A yelp erupted from the four-legged lupine as she whipped around and sought to lift the his weight with a bite from feral jaws. Ivory sunk into the silver limb, while his upper body did the rest of the work. Back twisted, putting inertia behind his weight as one shoulder dipped. A hooked fist came from below, the knuckle of his middle finger rising to meet the soft of her throat, as he forced the woman's maw off of him with a mighty blow. Naya's body followed the force of the malicious contact upward, but a crackling from her haunches came as her anchored leg ceased her flight. Straight to the ground, she fell, with a thud that resounded through her.

While Naenia had hesitated in the act of attacking a downed opponent, Shaamah was of a very different breed. The beast lingered for a moment, the ruby red flag of Sapient fluttering in his mind. He could take the life that lay beneath him easily, staggering from the attack she had just received, or he could free her. Any injuries she might cause thereafter, would be his own to take accountability for, but the man had a reputation he had to move away from. To kill, was to make him the very beast that Sapient did not strive to civilization for. Yet, the very Captain whom had been taken, deserved his coffin to be lined with the victory of his assaulter's defeat. It was a line that he would have crossed in a instant, did he not require more of himself than he knew he was capable.

The beast lifted his leg from the woman's flank, and Naya dragged herself away a few feet before even attempting to gather herself upright. Her hind leg was wounded, her jaw, likely fractured, and her shoulder and stomach poured crimson. Small black pupils in golden and azure seas that roiled with combat reached to Naenia as the creeping sensation of hot blood trickling down his leg tainted the silver of his pelt. It was a silent inquiry that, if she sought to dispatch Naya and wasn't willing to do so herself, Shaamah had no qualm with it, and it didn't go against his honors, or morals, to do so. However, it also spoke of his understanding that a dispatching needed to happen. Diarmid had been killed in battle with this cur's accomplices. Naya was trained, devoted and intelligent, and if released, had the option of attempting Sapient lives in the future.

Shaamah could still be the operate like the beast he was, but he'd give the pack a chance to offer it's permission, while he was within it's boundaries.

OOC: feel free to wrap 'er up if you'd like, or we can go another round. :D WC: 369

IC:
It was easy for Naenia to keep herself out of Shaamah's way, and she guessed that this was partially because he was not attacking her. His bulk meant that he was always in her field of view when he moved in to actively engage in the fight. Having never fought alongside him or any other Sapien besides Nivosus, she thought it worked rather well.

He was also apparently not raised with the same code of honor she had been, which was not a bad thing. Just different. Watching him attack Naya helped Naenia set aside what she had been taught, at least for this instance. While Naenia had gotten into a few fights while in Nova Scotia, this was the first one she had that was more than a bar scuffle or an argument with Niv gone too far. This one meant more; it wasn't like the honor duels back in Onuba. This was for physical defense of her new home.

Shaamah stopped and looked at her and it took Naenia a second to realize that he was seeking permission, and she certainly was not going to protect a known criminal. She nodded and raised her sword. No matter what the circumstances, taking a life was a burden, even when it was necessary, and she would share that burden with Shaamah, even if she wasn't sure he saw it the same way she did.

"Together," Naenia suggested, meaning that they could deliver killing blows at the same time. They she darted forward, sword out in a move she had learned but never used before. Naya tried to dodge but was unable to escape the blade that slid up under her ribcage. The rapier was meant for thrusting moves and so for this it would do well. She withdrew her sword and stepped back, holding her sword away from her leg as blood dripped down it and flowed from the wound in Naya's chest.

Adrenaline still flowed in Naenia's veins, and it wasn't until the prisoner was dead that she truly began to feel the pain from her own wounds. She needed to see Sylvestre or, preferably, Ciellen. First, though, they would need to decide what to do with Naya.

[[ wc 473 - We can end here, if ya like. XD I also don't mind carrying on, if you'd like to have some interaction between these two kids. XD]]

It seemed the two made a naturally moving team. Each of them could read the other to stay out of each other's way, but they could perceive just when the moment to enter was at hand. The fight was quickly coming to an end, lacking Naya's favor despite her dilligence in getting back on her feet. Naenia's light and armed methods, mixed with Shaamah's strength and naturally lacking aversion to pain or injury piloted the two into something that might grow, should the two warriors act upon it.

The golden swordswoman nodded to his unspoken inquiry, and her blade rose. She accepted taking the feral she-wolf's life with a simple word and the differences in their mercies would more apparent now, if they had not been before. Naenia approached her quarry, and the last phase of the battle was entered. Shaamah came from the rear and Naya attempted to scramble from the metal that reached into her chest. Stumbling backward, a strong arm came like a freight train on the back of her skull. Naya's sputtering sprayed blood from her maw, as a result of the final wound that Naenia had inflicted, and a gargled whine rose from the shallow of her wounded chest.

Without the strength to struggle, Naya wasn't able to free herself from Shaamah's grip on her head. His hands tensed, his fingers digging into her temples as he lifted her from the ground, her breathing breaking from the strain put on other injuries. The woman was already dying, suffocating on the blood that entered her lungs from the bite of the sword. Bracing the back of Naya's throat with the very arm that held her above the ground, he reared a fist back and met the soft of her throat with the full weight and swing of his arm. Her trachea collapsed, crushed from impact. The soldier released her skull, and the woman fell to the ground in a heap. Foam rose up through her nose, a crimson tint in the mucus that erupted from her esophagus. If she wasn't asphyxiated before, she certainly was now. She'd endure seconds of pain that would last hours, until her heart finally stopped pumping the cardinal fluid from her chest.

The battlefield around them was stained, as was Shaamah's leg and arm. Naenia had her own lesions to tend to, as well. The fight was over, certainly, but Shaamah's pupils were still constrained from the heat of it all. Sights moved to the golden woman, his voice it's familiar low hum,” Do you required aid?” He offered. Save for the look in his eyes, It seemed he hadn't been phased in the slightest, despite his injuries and the fight that had come upon him so quickly.
