"Go fuck yourself!" Cere angrily screamed at him. All he had done was say she should get out more often, but of course she would blow it way out of proportion. Apparently women do that. Cere looked at Zack shooting dagger, and ran off only a small cloth skirt around her waist, and a mean expression on her face. He meant well, and was just about to invite her on a walk, but of course she always took things too seriously. She would want him to go, and follow her, but just yell at him, and cry on his shoulder in the end. He wouldn't cave into her like he always did. Zack looked at the door Cere had violently slammed, and then to the small pad of blankets in the corner. He would sleep.

Zack rustled into the corner careful not to squish his faithful companion, and laid down. Why does she always make me seem like the bad guy? He hoped Cere would be safe, and just blow off some steam before coming back. She could really spark up a fight when she was angry. Zack didn't understand it, was she angry at him for bringing her here? Quietly Zack thought, but found himself drifting into a deep slumber.

4 hours later

Zack looked out one of the lone window in the room, and quietly cursed. The sun was setting, and Cere was no where to be found. She would have returned, and apologized, or at least kicked him in the tush. Sliding on, and buckling his pants he woke his feline friend, and left the estate. Cere would run away, and probably climb the tallest tree, or maybe just run, and keep running. "Fucking hell!" Zack yelled into the wind, and set off. He could hardly smell her, but of course her trail was ruined by time.

She had been gone too long, and Zack knew it. He sped up his pace running into the trees where Cere would find comfort. His eyes scanned as he ran, but he found nothing. Something sparked his interest while her scent flooded to his nose. He knew they were maybe a few miles away, but that wouldn't stop them. Will jumped, and sprinted trying to keep up to Zack. They were maybe two hours out when they found the source of the scent. He was close, and he could tell. He heard movements, and looked around to see her figure. He also saw something else it was small, and picked at Cere, but she remained still. HE knew what had happened, but remained still not wanting to look.

The scent was stronger than the blood, and it was of bear. Zack felt like he wasn't there. He didn't want this. He wanted this all to be a dream, a nightmare, but as he stepped closer he knew he was wrong. His sunny bright smile, and his fiercest warrior. Her throat no longer existed, and her limbs were torn, and some thrown. She probably came across a mother bear, and her cubs, but didn't see them until it was too late.

Cere was gone, but all Zack could do was stare. Her beautiful hair was a mangled mess, and covered in blood. His knees gave out, and he fell to the ground in a mess of sorrow, and regret. "Fuck me. . ." his voice was a whisper, and it quivered like a child's. She would no longer yell at him, or playfully punch him, or simply stare at him when he said something stupid. Cere his lovely lovely girl would no longer be with him. Her bright green eyes lost their spark, and simply looked at the ground.

Zack laid his sorrowful pitiful self, and nearly began to cry. Zack just laid.

She had been coming back to Sapient after a hunt, but something was very wrong in the air. There were scents of blood and scents of bear, and no alerts of either of the two. Lithia wasn’t sure what Sapient did when a bear wandered too close, but she wanted to assume they either rounded up a group to drive it off or kill it. That was either done or the bear got to someone, and Lithia was averse to finding out.

She continued toward the territory jumping at every noise and smell. She knew, just like everyone else, that bears were fierce, especially when they had cubs with them. The smell became stronger with every mile covered until the noises came into earshot. In the distance, Lithia could see a big brown form lumbering in the woods, headed her way. She looked around for her options. She could run back the other way, but she’d risk the bear catching wind of her and chasing her down; she could play dead and hope she isn’t ravaged by the fierce thing; or…

The grunting became louder and Lithia realized the bear had ambled dreadfully close to where she had been standing. Without thought or plan, Lithia scrambled up the nearest tree that would hold her, and curled up into a ball, peering down over the side to watch the bear and her cub pass on through.

Aware that bears could probably climb trees way faster than her, Lithia’s stomach was in knots. The grunting pants came closer and closer, and she could hear the foliage snap and be tossed around as the bear shuffled underneath her tree. And when she heavy footsteps stopped and a growl emitted from its powerful jaws, Lithia looked over the side of the tree and met eyes with the creature.

”Move along, momma bear. I’m not here for your cubs…” Lithia mumbled while her heart was in her throat. The bear snarled, but seeing that her cubs had made headway in front of her, she continued on without mauling Lithia in the tree.

When the brown mass was not in visible or audible range, Lithia jumped down from the tree to investigate the aftermath. The body she came upon was a gruesome sight: all torn up, almost unrecognizable, and gutted. A meal for those menacing bears. The woman’s blood stained the ground, the plants, the trees, and everything within a 5-foot radius. The woman’s green eyes stared blankly, and Lithia uncharacteristically wanted to close them for her. It was an eerie stare. One she never wished to see for any of her family members, but now thinking upon it, she imagined her father’s yellow eyes staring forth like that, directed away from his bloodied corpse.

Lithia called out something inaudible and fell to her knees beside the corpse, and then crawled away, trying to physically shake the thought from her head. The scent of Sapient was in the air, but she didn’t think it was from the corpse. She couldn’t get anything from the corpse except blood. Yet, when she stopped crawling and opened her eyes, she was nearly on top of another. A Sapient by no doubt. He was huddled on the ground, shuddering, and breathing heavily.

”Hey, it’s not safe here,” she said, shaking the Luperci back to reality. ”Wake up. On your feet.”

Cere had been so angry, and so fierce, she needed space. Zack tried to talk himself into believing it was an accident, but he failed. He should have chased after her found out what was wrong, but he wasn't that clever. Thoughts beat Zack up, and his body

He heard movement, and found another scent in the mix. Zack was numb as the woman shook him, and he looked up. "It's my fault. . .", Zack droned off. His face showed no emotion, but his body looked weak. The woman wanted him to stand saying it was not safe, but Zack already knew that. He would rather die than leave Cere to rot.

"I...I.." He tried to say he needed to take his golden girl with him, but he would only stutter. Zack's broad body raised to a standing position, and he needed to get away. He didn't wand to leave her, but he couldn't stand the sight of her any longer. His once bright blue eyes had gone dull. They may have been identified as grey. So many thoughts ran through his head. Zack wanted to touch Cere's soft hair, but he couldn't. He wanted her fiery green eyes, and the smile she would share. The way she could have drunken fun without a single sip of alcohol.

She was the only thing keeping him sane. Cere was the only thing keeping him from drifting off into a silent madness. "Fuck me. . .", Zack whispered under his breath, and looked at the woman. He had never met her before, but needed her. Zack numbly looked at her, and felt like his body would shut down. He quietly bent down, arms scooping under her body, and he lifted her into his hold.

Zack knew she would probably struggle away, and try to avoid him, but he needed her now. Zack simply stood ,a woman in his arms, and watched the blood find its way out of the crevasses of Cere. She was once beautiful, and mystic, but now she was just an empty corpse waiting to be absorbed into the ground.

The man barely responded to her shakes. Instead his eyes met hers, and Lithia couldn’t read anything from them. He inwardly cursed himself, and aside from guessing that he was upset about what was on the other side of the tree, she had no idea what for. He rose from the fetal position on the ground, and got this strange glimmer in his eyes. Lithia didn’t know what it was at the time. He said it was his fault, and Lithia leaned back to take another look at the corpse. She couldn’t see how it was his fault unless he ate her, cleaned up, and came back to the woods to cry about it, and the bear had miraculously just been passing through with two rambunctious cubs and a full stomach. Lithia looked away from the mess. She didn’t want to look at it anymore. The emptiness in both their eyes were on different levels, but much more eerie on the corpse.

She had been looking down when the brown Luperci’s arms began snaking around her form. Surprised and looking into his eyes, Lithia recognized the glimmer that she had seen only seconds before. It was intention, and he was acting upon it now.

”Hey, hey, hey!” she objected, but he had already picked her tense, uncomfortable body up from the ground and cradled her in his arms. For a moment, Lithia let him do his thing, staring up at his face in confusion; but he wasn’t looking at her. He was staring at the corpse.

Lithia squirmed away from him and out of his grasp until her feet were on the ground again and there was at least an arm’s length of space between them. She didn’t know this man, and even if she did, there was no way she would have let him touch her like that. She was kind of peeved at his actions, but knew that she needed to show the man some sympathy. He was a pack mate, and if word of her avoidance got around, who knew what it could do to her reputation?

”Do you want help with her? Should we bury her? Burn her? Throw her into the sea?” she asked, even though she knew she didn’t want to touch her or her displaced limbs. ”Just… no more hugs.”

The woman struggled out of his arms, and he understood. Not many would enjoy his touches, since he was either too large, or they simply didn't know him. He nodded as she declined his arms, and continued his stare at Cere. The woman began speaking, and he could barely hear her under his elevating heart beat. "She always loved the sea." Zack replied with a stone cold expression.

His eyes looked over the body trying to find where to lift her ragged, and limb body. They would throw her into the water, and have her drift, Cere would like that, but she would want him to come with. Zack felt crazed by anger, but he couldn't express it, he could express anything.

Hands grasping her body folding the hanging limbs into her lap, and he held her to his chest. Her stained locks caressed his muscular chest leaving marks of blood where it touched. Her bodily fluids dripped onto him, and ran down his legs as he gestured his head towards the woman. "Lead the way. . ." Zack uttered, and watched the woman.

Cere was once the fear driving woman with an attitude that made you shiver. Her glaring eyes shot daggers at those she hated, but her smile. . . Her smile made him feel great, like he was capable of anything. Her eyes had closed as he picked her up, but you could still feel the eerie silence she emitted.

Lithia had to fight hard not to display an expression of disgust as the large creature picked the ravaged body up from the ground. There was a gory stain in the grass where the body had lain, but Lithia eyed the rivulets of red that flowed lazily down Zach’s legs. She was relieved that he picked up the body without needing her aid because she wasn’t sure if she would be able to help him.

But she wouldn’t show him that she was squeamish. That would be against all her teachings.

She was tasked with finding the perfect spot, it seemed, so Lithia pointed her snout to the sky and tried to find the closest salt water source. The task was a bit difficult, given that there was a bloody corpse in close proximity. Even with its metallic smell, she was able to sort out the salt water scent. It seemed the nearest source was north, and they’d have to head back through Sapient before they’d be able to reach the beach. That should raise some questions... Lithia wondered if she could somehow skirt the borders so they weren't questioned too much. Giving Zach a weary look, Lithia turned and walked towards the beach.

As she walked, Lithia avoided looking back at Zach and the corpse in his arms. In fact, she actually attempted to put some distance between herself and the man for most of the way there. When he had caught up to her, she put herself behind him so that she could keep an eye on him, and even then, she kept her distance. She had never admitted it to herself before, but Lithia was a little freaked out about the gore and the way the woman had been torn to pieces. She thought of her death and wondered how much pain Cere had undergone before slipping into the inevitable darkness called death…

The beach wasn't far now.

(300+) Feel free to skip ahead to when they get there! Also, sorry for the wait.
