As Cartier was already up and Serenity had woken up early as well Cartier took the little girl outside so that she wouldn't disturb the rest of the family. The pup had taken a fur with her and currently dragged it around while trying to chase after a mouse with a lame leg. He chuckled softly as she tried to hunt and keep hold of the fur at the same time. The girl would jump up and try to pounce on the mouse but end up tangled in the pelt that she refused to let go of.

Come here, little one. He spoke softly, almost as if he was afraid of waking the entire world, and reached out to pick up the adopted pup. He gently untangled the pelt from around her paws, with Serenity still refusing to release it from her jaws, and gently draped it over her back to help get it out of the way.

Try that out. He said as she placed the girl back down in order to resume her game. Serenity turned her head to look at her back where the fur had been placed and sniffed at it as if something had changed about. It's still the same one that you had. Cartier said with a laugh at her inspection. With the puppy distracted the mouse took the opportunity to try and hobble away. You better catch it. It is getting away. Cartier commented and motioned to the limping mouse.

Serenity turned her head in order to peer at the escaping mouse. She attempted to bark at it but that just caused her to lose hold of the fur so she had to quickly recapture the entirely moist corner before she could proceed to stalking the mouse again. The most Cartier did was place down a hand to form a wall to keep the mouse from getting too far away.

Oriole, snuggled into his Papa's side, opened his steely grey eyes. It was early still and he blinked, slowly lifting his head from Papa's chest and looked around. He glanced bleary-eyed left and right and pushed himself up further, careful of Maggie whose head rested on his lower back.

Daddy wasn't anywhere to be found and this both worried and surprised the orange dog who had made it his mission in life to assist Cartier around the pack. He was young yet, and likely more hindrance than help, but already Cartier's work ethic seemed to have rubbed off on his son.

He rose slowly, shifting himself out from beneath Maggie bit by bit. The last thing he wanted was to wake his loud (and often obnoxious) sister; no, sir! None of that today, of being nipped at and pestered, her dark muzzle pointed at and shouting in his ear. Nu-uh, nope! He had work to do!

Maggie's head slipped from his back and, quick as he could, Oriole inserted a paw beneath it so the sudden drop from his back to the floor wouldn't startle her awake (or harm her- the former more important than the latter). So far, so good. Maggie stirred gently, but didn't wake, didn't open her eyes. A sigh of relief fell from his mouth, silently of course and he padded out the door twitching his nose.

His overlarge feet padded near soundlessy around the mansion. He was so used to his daddies' and sisters' company he nearly started at his own shadow. The mansion was a big place. He felt so small in comparison but soldiered on, swishing his tail and wiggling his nose. Daddy? he called and paused. Still no answer, Oriole frowned. Not in here, maybe he was outside?

The doors posed a challenge. Oriole reared up on his back legs and pushed...nothing happened. He did it again-- nope, still nothing. Then again, they didn't budge. Finally out of despair and frustration he let out a yap! The doors opened as just that second someone decided to come inside. Orole seized his chance!

He charged out the door before it could shut, his claws scraping across the steps and skidded to a halt.

Daddy! Oriole shouted and bounded forward nearly tripping over his own paws. Serenity was there, too dragging along a fur that Oriole immediately recognized from the bed pile. But there was something more, a spec of grey/brown dashing haphazardly before his sister's paws. Oriole halted and cocked his head. He glanced between the mouse and his daddy then wagged his tail. I play? He asked excitedly, wanting to join in on the game.

ooc So sorry for the late post! I'll be faster from here on out!

Hey baby. He smiled and opened up his free arm to Oriole to invite him over. Where is Papa? Cartier glanced towards the door of the mansion and looked puzzled to not find the dog standing there. Who let you out? Cartier had been careful to make sure the mansion doors stayed closed because he didn't want the pups getting out without supervision and getting themselves hurt. He didn't know what he would do if something happened to any of his children, despite none of them being his blood.

He grinned and nodded his head. Sure, you can come play but you have to share. Cartier moved his hand in order to block off the mouse's path once more and forced it to turn back. You have to be careful not to kill it when you catch it or else you won't be able to play anymore because you won't have anything to play with. He didn't mind if they killed it eventually but he wanted both Serenity and Oriole to experience catching it at least once before the mouse was killed.

Come on Oreo. It is going to get away if you don't help. Cartier beckoned the boy over as the mouse darted between Serenity's legs as she tried to pounce after it once again. The coyote pup dipped her head down to peer between her legs at the mouse as it escaped. "Halp!" She called to her brother and quickly grabbed the escaped corner of the pelt once more.

Ren tripped over her paws and the pelt that had fallen from her back as she tried to turn around and follow after the mouse. Ren, baby, why don't you just let me tie this so you will stop tripping on it. Cartier commented as he righted the pup once again. Stubbornly the girl shook her head and grabbed the dropped corner of the pelt to drag with her once again.
