UoNE event - farewell party

the devil has my ear today, he promised I would

find a little solace and some piece of mind

Well, this was it. All that could be done was done, all the goods were packed and loaded into the carts, all the lists checked out, all the requests taken, everything was in order and ready to go. Tzila could feel the weariness deep in her bones, in her muscles. It had been a lot of work, and she felt exhausted in the most pleasant and fullfilling way. She had done all that she could, all things considered, so now all that was done was celebrate all their hard-earned work. And what better way to do that then with a farewell party for the brave souls that would travel with the Keisari back to Portland?

Wasn't hard to set the Dining Area with some of their mismatched plates and glasses, borrowing some crates of wine and beer from the bar and get two geese roasting in the Kitchen. Sapiens were no fools, and if they knew anything, it was how to party. And her packmates had a nose and an ear for when someone was setting up a beer pong game, she knew very well that it wouldn't take long for them to pick up that there was a party about to happen. No need to howl out an invitaton or anything, they would pour in in good time. Istas herself wasn't quiet about it, the gentle giant of a woman as excited by the prospect of drinking and eating with some good company as anyone. Even Adsila seemed to have an eager spark in her dark red eyes, for all her stoic and quiet demeanor.

Tzila wasn't shy of sneaking a few sips of wine here and there while she prepared the party, nor was she hesitant to mention the party in passing to whoever she encountered in the halls as she hopped here and there, gathering what she needed for the party. She was wearking her dark grey lace dress, the one she traded with the Keisari a few days ago for a pelt and a carved bone bracelet, a very good pirce if she said so herself. With her necklaces and hair in a single braid slipped over one of her shoulders, she settled by one of the tables, smiling warmly at the Keisari who settled close to her to chat about this and that, while they waited for the room to fill up, as she knew it would at some point.

WC: 410 | Backdated to Jan 5th. Istas and Adsila Keisari are present as NPCs. Feel free to mention Tzila inviting your Sapien to the party or jsut wandering into it, whatever floats your boat~!

OOC - +300 words.

ONLY A FEW FIND THE WAY, SOME DON'T RECOGNIZE IT WHEN THEY DO, SOME DON'T WANT TO

When living in the estate, it was hard not to catch on to the things that was going on around it. Miwa had already heard about the plans for the outpost Tzila was putting together and had even been able to see first hand the kind of work she was putting into it with the boys. Now that all of that was said and done, the only thing left to do was make the trip out to Portland. Due to the fact that she still had children to look after, the dark woman would not have been able to go personally to see how things would turn out. It would be nice if she could get her hands on some more plants for her collections, but she could be patient.

The other thing was the talk of a small celebration going on before the trip was made out to the outpost. The idea of drinking with others.. or really even the game of beer pong, was not something that appealed to her. She had drank before, but the last time she did that she ended up in bed with Nivosus. The last thing she needed was for something like that to happen again. Fool her once, shame on them.. fool her twice, then it was her own damn fault.

Wanting to at least look more presentable than she normally did, the Itō woman slipped into her kimono, brushing off any dust that might have gotten on it. Now she was ready. Stepping outside of her room, she began to make her way downstairs. Her ears turned to the sound of little footsteps behind her. It seemed Kaimu caught on to the fact that she was leaving, wishing to join his mother in whatever she was doing. A small growl escaped from her maw before she turned to face him, "Best behavior." Turning back around, the two of them made their way to the dining room, stepping just inside the room as the mother's amethyst eyes lingered on Tzila, waiting to see who else might turn up to this small event.

A cool day had turned into a cold night. She felt the chill through her fur during her a spontaneous winter hunt. There was still snow on her coat with she walked in to the smell of more food and alcohol. She had heard there was an event occurring tonight, a very tall gray woman had announced it to her. Maria hadn't intended to come but now that it presented itself right before her nose, she could hardly say no to a party.

She had heard a little bit about the parties that Sapient like to host. She predicted plenty of drinking but she intended not to get so sloshed had she had the last time she tasted the bitter bite of alcohol. Curiosity had killed that cat, and she didn't intend to repeat the process. Plus, she eyed the ratio in the room, which consisted mostly of woman. It definitely wasn't something she minded as she investigated a bit further. The stern looking wolf mix was there, eyeing the set up. Maria couldn't see her downing a drink or even laughing, if she was honest.

As she skirted around her, she caught sight of Adsila. If she recalled correctly, this was a bit of farewell party and perhaps inhibitions were lowered tonight. Maria poured herself a drink and decided to revisit the stoic, red eyed woman after the booze had flowed for a little bit longer. Who knows, she felt as though if she didn't try she was doing herself a disservice.

(561) Lithia's trying too hard LOL.

What kind of a sister would she be to skip out on her own sister’s gathering? Something of that nature was not above Lithia, though since her relationship with her sister had been rather good these past few months, she was offered an invitation to come. At the time when she had received this invitation upon passing her sister in the halls, Lithia had said she’ll think about it. However, she thought about it and thought it would show good pack standing if she attended. However, she had little to wear to the gathering.

Her pack mates had the habit of dressing to the nines to these kinds of events, and given that this was one of the first that Lithia would have been attending, she realized she needed to invest in some fancier clothing. Though, for now, she had nothing of the sort.

Donning her usual mini skirt and pink crop top and feeling a little out of place because of it, Lithia headed down to the party anyway. She had left Totem behind, noting he would probably sit in the corner and look like he should be serving the hors devours instead of attend the party. She rolled her eyes at the slave’s inability to blend in. Since the six months when they joined, he had little to no development in that field.

Heyyyy! Lithia called, upon walking into the party and seeing her litter mate wearing a beautiful lace dress and all her sparkly jewelry, something that both of them came to adore as adolescents. If anyone had outdone Lithia, it was Tzila, and that made the sibling slightly upset. However, she hid this well beneath her skin. ”Great party.” It could have been taken as a compliment or an insult, given that there had been just a few that had shown up so far.

Even though Lithia was usually the reserved one, she had been practicing her faking skills. She was faking the socialite personality, and maybe her sister could see right through it. But as Tzila was doing, Lithia wanted to make a place in Sapient, too, only she couldn’t find out how.

Her pink eyes lingered on her sibling for a moment, taking in the beautiful lace dress that the woman wore. Suddenly feeling self-conscious in the regular clothes she came in, Lithia sought to find out where Tzila got it from. "Beautiful dress, sis. Where'd you get that one from?" she asked while pouring herself a generous glass of wine.

Lithia eyed the geese that were set out and claimed a seat at the table next to no one in particular. As she sat, she attempted to one-handedly pull down her skirt, wishing again that she had clothes that better matched those of Tzila and Miwa. Once seated, she took a sip of the wine and scanned the others at the party, nodding to the ones she didn’t know, like the traders for instance, and smiling at the ones she did. ”Miwa,” Lithia greeted, dipping her nose slightly.

Even Miwa wore something fancy, and even though Lithia wouldn't be caught dead in something such as the kimono the woman wore, it was an attempt at looking nicer than she usually did.

Then her pink eyes found a tan and red Coyote that she didn’t recall ever seeing. ”I don’t think I’ve met you before…”

find a little solace and some piece of mind

One would think the chance to eat and drink and flirt would summon more than a handful of Sapiens down to the party, most of them Tzila could name easily out of the top of her head. Maybe they preferred smaller and less formal parties, and the Domus wouldn't begrudge them that. She herself wasn't one for the big and loud revelries, to get drunk off her face and wake up not remembering a thing, and stinking of sweat, mud and pig. Some of her past escapades notwithstanding.

Miwa appeared in a kimono, beautiful despite not quite agreeing with Tzila's own tastes in clothing. She smiled warmly at the woman, and nodding her welcome to her and one of her children who trailed behind the folds of her dress. The Napier gave the boy a little wave and let them go take their seat and enjoy the party however they saw fit. Soon after came a coyote she didn't recognize and didn't know the name of. Something she hoped to amend by the end of the night, if only because she didn't like not knowing her packmates. Maybe it was her need to know that was starting to get to her; having to practically memorize all those lists and numbers had made quite a number on her.

She caught the unknown woman stealing glances towards the Keisari, especially Adsila, and hid her smile in her cup of wine, taking a long sip of it. This could get interesting, especially since she didn't even dare guess the sister's preferences with partners.

And then, there was Lithia. Her sister, coming over to her with the fakest of greetings she had ever heard come from her mouth. Tzila looked over to her with an edge of worry, like she thought her sister mustn't be feeling well, but as soon as she caught sight of her she knew what was going on. She was trying, way too hard. It was almost adorable, if it didn't look and sound so... wrong, coming Lithia. Taking mercy on her sister, she just smiled widely, welcoming her. "Thank you, dear sis! I appreciate you coming, do enjoy yourself." And she could try a little harder to jab at her sister, not missing the double meaning of her praise, but seeing her in only her usual clothes while everyone else looked more dressed up, coming to a party Tzila had organized to celebrate her own good tidings, while Lithia was still fumbling for her place in Sapient, well. No need to throw salt in the wound. They hid it well, but there had always been a friendly sibling rivalry between them, and right now, Tzila had the upper hand. It was enough for her that she'd leave her sister be. Plus, she was in a good mood.

"Oh! I traded for it with the Keisari sisters. They have such wonderful things in their wagons, if only I had enough to trade for them, I would have." She said, singing her praises for the two dogs whom she gestured towards while she spoke. Istas must have caught their name in mention, turning her gaze towards them and throwing a wink and a grin their way. Tzila had to suppress a mock exasperated roll of her eyes, but left it clear enough for Lithia that if she wanted a dress of her own, the two outsiders would be sure to provide. Soon after she left her sister to her own devices.

After refilling her cup of wine, she caught Lithia trying to make conversation with the coyote, and decided it might be a good moment to make introductions. She parked herself opposite to them at the table, picking at a roasted goose wing while she listened, for now.

OOC: here's Nieve playing "adult." xD Naenia, Sylvestre, and pNPC Reina have also arrived! Nieve went to talk to Maria. WC: 333

IC:
Since there was a party starting, Nieve decided that she should find something to wear. She did not yet have anything particularly fancy. Maybe she should have added something like that to her list of things she would like from the new trading outpost. Well, next time; having beads that were different from her current tiny stock would be her priority. So, she put on her best shirt and pair of pants and headed towards the party.

It did not sound particularly loud yet, but she assumed that later it would turn into a proper shivoo after her pack mates had some alcohol. Maybe her cousins would be there; Nieve did not really want to hang out with her mom the whole time. Unfortunately, that was who arrived right as she did. Naenia, of course, had a nice dress on, and Sylvestre was wearing the set of nicer clothes he had from Onuba. It made Nieve wish she had better, and then she realized she could have borrowed a dress from her mother. Well, next time.

"Hi Mom," Nieve said, trying not to sound too disappointed. Naenia gave her an assessing glance.

<"Hello Nieve,"> Sylvestre responded instead of Naenia as they walked in. Nieve looked around to see who was already here, and Reina walked past her, heading over to talk to the Keisaris. Without her cousins or anyone else her age here, Nieve felt a bit out of place. Sylvestre seemed to notice and he handed her a cup filled with wine. She took it from him with a surprised look.

<"Relax,"> he told her and Nieve took a sip, followed by several more. The immediate effect was a weak feeling in her joints, which was odd but somewhat pleasant. Maybe if she had more, there would be more of an effect. She spotted someone she had not spoken to yet; only seen around and wandered over to say hello.

"Hi there," Nieve said, "I'm Nieve. I don't think we've met yet."

OOC - 500 words.

ONLY A FEW FIND THE WAY, SOME DON'T RECOGNIZE IT WHEN THEY DO, SOME DON'T WANT TO

Parties were a bit of a rarity around Sapient. Not saying that there weren't any before, but Miwa herself had come only shortly after a disaster of one that lead to the death of a Sapient member. It was grim to think of, and something that seemed to come up in the party Kin had held some time after that. By now though, it seemed many had moved on, or rather that many of those here were not aware of the incident that had taken place like she had. Perhaps that was for the best. She would be a hypocrite for saying that they needed to stop living in the past, but there were some scars that would never go away. Something like what happened before had broken trust, something that might never be able to be regained.

Even so, the dark woman wasn't much for parties. If anything she had only come to be a face and show her appreciation for what was going on. It would have been nice to have some of her family here, but alas none of them had been turning up. For those that did, all of the faces were recognizable. The tan woman, Maria, had come as well as Lithia. She had done business with the other dark woman in order to gain possession of some of the poisonous plants she had in her stocks, but never really got the chance to do anything more with her now that they were in the same pack. There was still potential, but with her pups being born, she hadn't had much time to focus on them. Perhaps now would be a better time more than ever, but she could wait on that.

The dark pup down below her let his eyes wander around to everyone that had gathered in this one place. Sure he had seen others in the pack, but not really this many gathered for something he didn't have much of a grasp on. Turning his head up towards his mother, the Itō woman let her gaze bare down on him, "What is it Kaimu?" Her could feel the weight in her words, but still he sat tall, "What am I supposed to do Mom?" Without hesitation, she answered, "Do whatever you like." What did it matter to her? Even if he wasn't in her sight, surely he had enough sense not to get caught up among the others and have something happen.

With that, the pup raced off to join the others that had gathered, leaving Miwa to rest against one of the walls while she looked on. Taking an interest in the two sisters, he moved over towards their feet, looking up at them, "I remember you," he said, pawing along at the end of Tzila's dress, "You were that lady Mom took us to about the trading stuff."
