The Lune was fuming as he dragging the criminal through the Fort by the scruff. Beside the golden leader his son walked, carrying Myra who was in even rougher shape than her kidnapper. She was stable for now but would need to be tended to immediately, already Morty had ran ahead to prepare her a bed and set to work. As they entered the Courthouse Remus turned to get the small girl into the healers experienced hands while Luca, tailed by the rest of the pack, led the group into the court room, a room that was rarely used.

A permanent snarl was plastered across his face, the emotion in the pit of his stomach boiling over through his body. He had already lost his mate and now this man had tried to take away his daughter, from Casa and then from this world. His baby girl had a hard fight ahead of her still, but Luca was already determined to see to it that Raine would be brought to justice before the night was over. Dragging the man along the old wooden floor the Lune dropped him in the center for all to see and judge. Leaning down over him he whispered and a low growl, “You try to move from this spot and you forfeit your right to trial.” One inch out of place and this mans life would end. Luca’s cream hands had been stained red before, and he certainly would not mind them being painted again in Raine’s blood.

As he turned to find two two specific faces he saw Isaac and Jace enter, Brita, Rumpa, and Mercy in tow. Glaring he wondered if the female had been involved in the matter. Opening his mouth he barked an order, “Howland, Jace. Guard this man and bring Brita up here too.” The guards moved into action, moving the female away from the pups and into the center of the room with Raine. In the corner of his eye he saw Night gather up the pups, including his own and Jace’s. Luca turned his back on the male, certain he would not lash out given his current injuries and the two wolves now within a foot of him ready to attack should he try anything. “This man has committed crimes against our pack, against our family. He stands accused of rape, physical harm, and kidnapping.” The three accusations made his fur stand on end and pained his heart. “All who can speak to these and any other charges please speak now.” His golden eyes searched the crowd, urging anyone with any information to speak.

OOC: Dated shortly after the Manhunt thread. Raine and Brita will now be on trial. For this round everyone is welcome to post once, but please only have characters who have been directly harmed by Riane, or who have OOC permission to speak on behalf of a character, speak up :) Once all charges are said I will start the next round with new instructions! 300+ words

Word traveled quickly among the dispatched soldiers of Casa di Cavalieri; their quarry had been found and captured. A chain of howls sounded throughout the forest and unclaimed territory directly surrounding the pack of the Knights, carrying the news to all who were in search of the scoundrel. They were being called back to the pack lands, Howland knew what came next. Still on two feet and clutching his pike, he executed an about-face and returned to Fort Kingsbury.

The guard arrived just moments behind the Lune and the rest of the initial congregation; it seemed Myra was with them and alive, but he prickled at the scent of blood. The man had hurt her. As the group paced toward the courthouse she was passed off to another member of the pack to have her wounds tended to while the grim business of justice was seen to in the court.

Howland followed his Lune and fellow knights indoors, hearing small chatter but listening for his king’s words above all. It was not long before Luca called for the help of the two guards – Jace and Howland. Nodding respectfully but keeping silent, he paced up near his king and took up stance in front of Raine. Although it would be thrilling to watch the drama unfold in the courtroom, he kept his back to the people that made up the court so his yellow eyes could remain trained on the dark Nigthshade criminal. Even if the man dared to try to lay a hand on their king despite his injuries, he would not get far with the trained guard looming over him, holding the long staff of his pike cross ways to bar any path the fiend might try to take.

Emotions that the male had never before experienced danced within him like a blazing, consuming fire as the boy walked beside his father, carrying the limp form of his sister cradled in his arms. Citrine eyes were hard set like stones, and a face belonging to a boy barely older than a yearling was aged with a mask of stress, anger, resentment, and above anything regret.

One incident in the past kept resurfacing in the mind of the wounded girls brother. It had been months prior, before any semblance of real tragedy had befallen the Knight boy. Remus' mother had scolded Myra for liking a man that she did not trust, and Remus, in all of his eternal stupidity, had sided with his sister and turned on his own mother in that moment, facing her to defend the sand furred girl. Now their mother was dead, and she could not know that she had been right all along, now Myra and Remus both knew that Lyris had been wise in her judgement, and neither of them would ever get the chance to tell her. What was worse in that moment still was that Remus was not sure that his sister would pull through.

He was frightened. When Remus had found his sister lying in a pool of her own blood, cold as ice in a bed of crimson snow, she had been conscious still, and he had done all that he could in that moment to retain her life, tying a tight tourniquet around the severed and bloodied stump of a tail she had retained. Seeing her like that gripped Remus in a way that he could not explain. His jaw clenched, he could never forgive the scum of the earth for what he had done to Remus' sister.

The boy carried Myra's bloodied form close to his chest, guarding her as though he could prevent her from dying by shear willpower as he brought her in to see Morty. Laying her down upon the examination table, the tall boy furrowed his brows and brushed a stray hair back from his sisters visage, and for a fleeting moment his expression was tender, before the cold stone face of bitterness returned to his features, and the boy turned and left the room. There was a trial to be held, and Remus would speak for the girl who at the moment could not speak for herself.

He wanted justice to be had, and in his eyes this only meant the death of the man who was already found guilty in his eyes. Returning to the court room, Remus heard his father call for anyone to speak, and he did not hesitate to barge forward from the door of the room, standing before his father and the dirt bag who had harmed his loved ones, hackles raised. "I will speak. This scum took my sister from the fort and when she resisted him, he attacked her. Dammit he cut off her tail! What kind of monster..." The male cut himself off with a curt growl as he turned to take a seat, eyes boring holes into the back of the defendant as he waited to see what the others had to say.

Raine Nightshade

If he had not been so sloppy with Myra, he would not have to endure such insolent behavior. But he had… he had made the grave mistake of trusting that bitch and look at where he was now. Was it any wonder why he never trusted a female? The one time he did, and it landed him with holes in his guts and being dragged through the dirt by a so-called king.

He snarled as he was jolted over a rock, and tried to reach over to hold his wounded and poorly bandaged side, but with his wrists bound as they were he could get no relief. The wounds oozed beneath the bandages; thin strips of cloth, his own shirt, barely keeping his lifesblood from seeping out. The blood had clotted well, but the rough treatment kept reopening the wounds.

He finally found some solace as he was dropped unceremoniously inside the courthouse. He grumbled and moaned as he sat up, resting his back against the wall and leaning his head back as he panted. His dark pelt was covered with a dusting of dirt and grime and everything else he had been dragged through, and he smelled like a stable. With the pack filing into the courthouse, he couldn’t have run if he wanted to, but still a big oaf of a guard took up a place in front of him to bar his way. He smirked and scoffed at the meathead, and was about to say something before he bit his tongue, unwilling to make his situation even worse. He turned his head away for a moment until he heard the soft muddled sound of Brita’s voice. It was an unintelligible murmur from her as she was being led by a guard up to the same place Raine, the Lune, and the meathead occupied. His carnelian gaze fell upon his sister’s chestnut form as she walked, eyes down, toward them.

Brita had given little resistance as she was ushered into the courthouse. It was no surprise to her when the guards came to arrest her and the pups. She knew Raine had fled because she was the one who warned him that Night had told Honrin about his crimes. She was supposed to look after Rumpa and Mercy, Raine’s children, and meet him at a rendezvous point in a fortnight, when attention on her had calmed down. That would never happen now.

At first she tried to fight when she was separated from the pups. She had not noticed her brother-turned-master, and in her meek way she looked at Luca to appeal to him, to beg to not be separated from her wards. It was then that she noticed Raine crumpled on the floor beside him and grew quiet, averting her eyes and literally tucking her tail between her legs. She allowed herself to be led by the guard with no more resistance, no more spirit.

Raine peered around Howland’s legs, eyes boring holes into Brita’s soul. Don’t you dare tell them. Don’t you dare say one word you worthless slut.

His attention was drawn away from his silent threats against his sister, though, when his first accuser stepped up to speak. Here is the beginning. He would have to sit here, prisoner, while others sullied his good name. And for what? All for assumptions and the word of a pathetic, useless girl. His eyes scanned the courtroom, looking for Night, but instead they locked on Remus. His lip curled up at the sight of the man – the man who found him lying in the woods, trying to patch his own wounds, and instead of helping him - a fellow pack mate no less – he fought him and took him prisoner. He never even stopped to ask what happened. For all they knew, he had saved Myra’s life. Hey, that was a good angle… he nearly stood up and blurted out a makeshift defense, but at the first twinge of a muscle he saw the guard’s grip on his deadly pike tighten, and Raine decided he better bide his time. His gaze shifted away from Remus, away from Howland, and once again rested on the demure form of his sister.

If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies

The summoning howl that had rallied the entire pack was both a blessing and a bane to the ears of the no-longer-youngest Stryder. He'd been awaiting its cry for many weeks now - his sleep tormented by those white hands and orange eyes - wondering just which unfortunate victim would finally be brave enough to dare snitch. It hadn't been him. Son of kings and a queen, son of knights and warriors... a coward.

His dark auburn hands gripped around his companion's black shoulders tightly. Damon, his constant friend throughout the young Cavalier's life, had turned from a patient teacher to a mischievous friend and finally to an ever-patient care giver. Arlen's left leg would never bend the way it once had, and though months had passed since he had so foolishly thought to take on a bear, the leg showed little sign of ever getting better. Perhaps it won't, perhaps I'll always be confined to life as a cripple. The thought was horrifying to say the least.

Not quite so horrifying as the rage he saw in Raine's eyes when the pair finally caught up with the pack in the Courthouse. The felon lay on the floor behind the Lune, the strong father figure remaining between the boy and his old attacker. Arlen's green eyes locked onto his father's golden ones, refusing to look down, lest his weak courage fail him. Luca called for victims and witnesses. Who better to rat out the rat than he? When one brother stood forward to stand for their sister, the other stepped forward to stand for himself.

Arlen's hands fell from his dark friend, tears filling his eyes as he refused to look at any of his packmates, save his king. "Raine-," a knot formed at his throat to silence him. Not now. "I was not attacked... by the Syndicate." They would all know the story. Little Arlen Stryder, drunk and beaten up and left for dead at the edge of their territory. It'd been so easy to pin it on their enemies during wartime. No one thought to look deeper. "Raine. He took me to his room. Forced me to drink." Could he force the last charges? The damning ones that would strike the blow as sure as a blade? "He... He r-ra-." No. No he couldn't. Not today. What would his mother say? Suck it up and be a man. "He raped me, beat me senseless, and left me in the river to blame the Syndicate."

Arlen's eyes dropped to the floor, afraid to see the pain and pity and disgust he knew would surround him. He would see the end of the trial- the end of Raine. Then, he would leave.

All the fuss had the young girl rattled. The evening had been underway and she had been prepared for a relaxing night but instead she had heard something she never had heard before. Luca’s angry howl had sent shivers down her spine. She wasn’t sure what was going on but she knew that Raine, a man she had only seen in passing, was in deep trouble and Myra was missing with him. Had the man hurt Myra? Her innocent mind could not even comprehend the horrible things Raine had done. Not being fully trained, and only knowing some basic maneuvers with her staff the young wolfess had not gone running into the woods after the man with the others, instead she climbed up the new look out but the gates, holding her staff in shivering hands as she anxiously waited for them to return. If she caught sight of the male she would let everyone know where he was.

The spirits had blessed her, and the first sight she saw was that of Luca violently dragging Raine across the ground. Her turquoise eyes then landed on Remus carrying Myra’s petite figure, causing her to grimace at the sight of blood. What had happened? Not knowing how else she could help she waited for the group of packmates to walk through the gates and towards the courthouse before climbing down and joining the back of the line. Looking to the horizons he noted the sun setting and the moon rising. Perhaps the god and goddess would look down upon them and give Myra strength to pull through.

Slowly she waddled at the back, not wanting to get in anyone’s way. Eventually the group made their way into a room she had never seen used before. In the center the Lune stood, beginning whatever this meeting would entail. Since her arrival there had only ever been good ceremonies, except for the funeral for Luca’s mate, but this felt different. The fur on the back of her neck stood up as a female was brought to the center as well, Jace and Howland’s serious faces staring down the pair. Luca’s voice spoke and everyone around silenced. The words that came form the Lunes mouth, and then from the others that spoke, shocked Minerva. Her mouth fell open in shock and she clung to the training staff in her hands as though it might grant her some stability. How could someone do something so evil to so many?! Squinting her eyes shut she thought of Fenris the sun god. ‘If you exist please, please help us to overcome this evil. They don’t deserve this.’

Blood pounded in his ears, draining away a lot of the sounds of those going off to hunt Raine down. He stayed though, with the girl that clung to him like he was her lifeline, in a way he was. She cowered behind him as the accused was dragged into the hall, bleeding and battered and Honrin felt a sense of justice seeing his blood.

The fury only grew as voice after voice raised to condemn Raine's actions, he who had preyed on their young and innocent. It rippled outwards, he saw his mother snarl in outrage, dragging the male's companion in to face justice along with Raine. Then Honrin stepped forwards as Night shrunk back to surround herself with the young children. His voice raised, strong and condemning,

"I speak as the voice of my adopted sister Night, who is too frightened to speak for herself. This monster attacked her without provocation and raped her many times, terrorizing her in her own home and causing her to flee to Anathema for safety. Promising her that if she spoke to anyone about what he had done that he would do the same to those that she holds dear..."

The male cut off, for a moment too angry to even speak and slammed the staff in his hand against the floor, the sound echoing around the room,

"He must pay for what he has done, I call for his head!" He snarled loudly, long fangs bared and golden eyes blazing.

Speech. Thinking.

Casa was no stranger to those who would seek to harm them. The difference between Cavaliers and others, however, was how they handled it, and Fenris it would be handled. There was no way Luca would allow someone to play them like a fool and get away with it, and he knew that those under his leadership would not as well. With the beast on the floor and his possible accomplice joining him he was able to focus on the task at hand. The Cavaliers had been scorned a being vengeance seeking knights in black before, rather than lights of justice, and Luca would not have that name smeared under his ruling.

What came next he could never have expected. The Lune thought that his members trusted him, that he had a good handle on things, but clearly he couldn’t have been more wrong. As far as he had been aware Raine’s sins had taken place in the past day or so. As the accusations came his forceful snarl, a face of justice, slowly faded to one of shock. Not only had he tried to take Myra away from them, and slashed Night across the chest, he had stolen Arlen’s innocence and left him for the Syndicate, and done the same to Night! How had he been so naive to such actions in his own lands? The words tore at his heart and turned his stomach.

His eyes flickered down in shame as he turned to the female the monster had brought into the pack with him. With no kindness he spoke, “And what of you? What’s your place in his lies and horrific acts against my family? Did you help him? Did you know and not come to the aide of those who took you in?” The words were spoken unevenly, though he maintained his composure to the best of his ability, after all he had just learned that a man he had allowed into Casa had taken advantage of many of the youths under his wing. Before she could reply he turned his scared face back to the monstrous male, “And what do you have to say for yourself?” Although his heart screamed for his hands to wrap around Raine's neck and grant him a slow death he would allow a moment of self defence. Luca would not stoop to his level, he had many young eyes watching him.

Raine Nightshade

Raine remained indifferent as the pack amassed before them with the sole purpose of persecuting him. Even now the only remorse he felt for his actions was simply how careless he had become. His ego had become so inflated that he had tried new things with Night as he worked to condition her into his little pet, just like he had done to Brita. But there was one thing he had not counted on with Night; she had never been his adoring sister, she had not known him before he threw his innocence into the rubbish. Brita’s broken mind still held a candle for the young brother she once knew, and so despite all he had done to her, part of her still loved him. Night needed to survive, and had found the strength to tell someone about what was going on.

When Arlen stepped up, the monster looked positively amused. His cold, carnelian eyes bore down on the young man, remembering the sniveling wreck he had been the day Raine took him in his chambers. If he could paint that picture for the whole pack to see, nobody would want him anymore. He chuffed a sarcastic noise when Arlen stepped forth and told his story, but otherwise remained silent.

Brita stood near her brother, and master. Most of these people still did not know that she was not the freed slave that Raine claimed her to be, but his own enslaved sister. There was still much space between herself and her life long captor, especially with the guards in the way. Yet that space did not stop her from shrinking back when Luca turned on her to interrogate her.

When he spun to face her it frightened her, and she gasped, her ears nearly disappearing in her mane. She seemed to wilt, and made herself as small as possible. She opened her mouth to speak, but no sound would come out. When he turned from her almost immediately to speak to Raine, she relaxed some, but not by much. Her eyes flicked to peer at Raine, and she pressed herself against the wall. Raine’s eyes flicked towards her, and she knew it was a warning to say nothing, so she did just that.

Finally with the questions turned on him, it was time to provide his defense. He took a step forward, but Howland tensed and made a movement and Raine did not come forth any more. That calm, confident mask came over him, that same act he had used the whole time to fool everybody. He was serene, sincere. He opened his palms in a placating gesture, but could do little with his bound wrists. My lord, I say it is not true, he began slowly. First his eyes flicked towards Arlen. This boy… while I am sorry for what he’s been through, he has it all wrong. Everybody knows Arlen has no memory of what happened to him. It is why we have all pitied him for that incident, and have all forgiven him his foolishness of wandering by the borders when we knew the Syndicate was afoot. Perhaps he needs somebody to blame, and this is a convenient time. Besides the fact that I would never perpetrate such an indecent act, I certainly would not have done so with… he gestured to Arlen, and then as an afterthought said, with a man… or a boy.

As for Honrin, he said, eyes flicking to the pale herdsman. I understand he must uphold his duty and he believes what he has been told. But he is telling a story for another. Why does she not come and say so herself? Because she knows it is not true. She is a child making up a story for attention, but she can’t face me in court because her guilt would be too much. I never touched Night, and there is no proof that I did. I hadn’t even spoken three words to her before her trip to Anathema, and nobody has witnessed anything different. Come, anybody speak up if I am lying!

His eyes peered out at the court and all the people that would see him torn to shreds. When his gaze crossed Jace he immediately looked away and for once faltered, the reality of his fate reflected in her burning eyes gave him pause. As for Myra… my beloved Myra…he paused and sighed longingly, finding his confidence again. He looked down at his hands, still caked with her blood. For a moment his eyes glistened, The pain of what I had to put her through. He gulped down a sob. It’s not what you think. She was bitten… bitten by a snake. I’m sure when she comes to and is well she can tell you all. When he looked up again, his eyes were misty. I never wanted to hurt her, but I had to do it to save her life! Her beautiful, beautiful tail… my beautiful Myra… will she be alright? Tell me she will be okay. Did I stop the poison in time? Come, tell me, if any of these accusations were true, then why would a monster like me not have simply soiled Myra and taken her when I wanted her, hmm? He was growing passionate, furious. Why would I have bided my time, remained patient until Myra was ready?! As I told Myra, Night probably has a childish infatuation and has made up these lies because she was turned down. I am sorry that she is hurt but what she says are all lies. Myra… after his passionate outcry, he became sad once again and lowered his head.

Finally, as an afterthought, he muttered, Brita knows nothing because I have done nothing. His sister shrank at the mention of her name again. For a moment he had deflected the attention from her, but it had come around again. He did not want her to speak, so she lowered her head to keep from looking at Luca’s furious mien.

Words were always wind, always. They could be distorted and shaped, cultivated into specific arrangements like eager grasping plants. Those who learned to see without seeing and hear without hearing would find the truth among falsity for they knew what to search for.

The female fought them until she caught sight of the man in captivity. Everything went out of her at that moment, like a breath of air had blown itself out. She watched and caught every cringe, every shudder and submission.

And when darker amber eyes met her own, she saw the fear there and knew that the accusations were true. Burning like soot and ash her lips curled upwards to reveal her yellowed fangs.

A maelstrom erupted over his denunciations and the aging female stalked forwards a pace or two, leaving Issac to hold the cowering beaten woman. Night was trying to speak, drowned out by the ravings of Casa's outrage.

She turned on them, fury boiling in her stare and her voice cut through all of them, bouncing off of the walls and the ceiling,
