Little vs Big

OOC- Leaf's exploring the stables, come join in?

The fiery body bounced around the sloppy mud. Giggling happily, Leaf ran around the muddy fields near the stables. He got under the fence, which wasn't too much trouble, and had decided to chase around the wide, open fields. Noises came from over near the stables and, full of interest, Leaf bounded his way towards them. The mud beneath him splashed up against his coat, making brown spots appears all over his little body.

The ground was drier, and the brick building stood like a big tree in front of him. He gazed around the stable, eyes wide with interest and glee. Leaf jumped back at the sight of the horses. Big, long-legged things moving about in their own little houses. Lifting himself on his hind legs, he tried to get a better look, but his balance constantly failed him. He grumbled and tried to stand up against the stable wall to see over, only to be rejected by his own height. He let loose a short bark in frustration, and one of the horses called back.

Surprised and intrigued, Leaf tried again. Once more the horse replied with a noise of its own. Leaf giggled and let out a series of barks, yaps and whines. The stable erupted with noise from the horses. To Leaf, it was all fun and games, he didn't know that he might be disturbing the large beasts. He bounced around the row of horse homes, called to each to see which would call back the loudest.

399 CHASE THE FOX <3

Wilson is by Sunny!

She's driving me absolutely bloody barmy! the tomcat was complaining, his lips tugged back sightly and his ears flattened as he sat on the white gelding's rump.

Shiloh smirked without real sympathy as she continued to brush the horse, rubbing neat little circles in his fur as he contentedly lipped her hair. She left most of the work with the horse to the dingo twin, but not enough to be neglectful to Baldr. She was the only one to her knowledge to take him out and exercise him, and occasionally she'd go into a full-out grooming session like this, tending to his hair and picking his hooves. I thought she always drove you barmy, she said, mimicking the cat's accent with a smile. You aren't exactly a cat person, you know, for a cat.

He bristled and stretched out on the horse's back, nearly blending into the white with his own fluffy coat. She's always been -- touchy -- but this is far worse. I haven't had a bird all over me since -- well, I never have.

Yes, you don't seem quite like the type to chase birds, Shiloh said, and the entendre made him bristle but look away from her. She's a little extra affectionate and insistent this past day or two, so what? She just likes you, you know.

Wilson snorted. That's the problem, he muttered, and was about to say something else when there was a sudden commotion further down in the stables -- a few shill, startled whinnies and other sounds -- yapping? -- that had Shiloh dropping the brush and darting out of the stall. She already saw Jindabyne -- the dingo-dog -- running from one part of the livery and barking over the sound of the horses.

Oi! Belay that! the man shouted, and then, We've got a fox!

Shiloh blinked. Oh no, she got out, and ran quickly across to Jin even as he grabbed for a pitchfork used to move hay. She grabbed his arm and shook her head fiercely at him before looking for the little orange creature darting back and forth by the stalls and yapping at the animals. Leaf! Leafie, darling, get over here! She called out to the fox cub and gestured for him, even as Wilson peered out from Baldr's stall to see what the ruckus was about.

Yay, thanks for joining! Guessing Leaf knows Shiloh?

Leaf giggled and jumped about as the horses made more noise. His jumping only ended with more dirt and mud washing over his coat. Before he could let out another song to join the choir of noise, a man yelled out. Leaf couldn't really hear him over the horses, but he heard the word fox being yelled. Wagging his bushed tail he pounced towards the noise. He saw a sharp thing appear over a stable house, and pulled himself back. "Hello?" He yapped, wondering who was holding the pointy stick.

Then a familiar face came nearby, and Leaf's excitement grew. He bonded towards the snowy wolf, giggling as he went. "Shee-low!" He barked, and jumped around the female's legs. "Heya, did ya see dose beasties?" Leaf then started mimicking the noises of the horses, with high pitched howls and yaps. Feeling he'd made his point, he sat down, looking up and Shiloh. His hazel eyes looked over at a cat, who was watching over the scene. Leaf's tongue trailed down as he panted, feeling slightly tired from all the bouncing. "What cha doin?" He said with a happy curiosity.

358 Yup! Met him in this thread and this thread!

Wilson is by Sunny!

Jindabyne looked startled as Shiloh called to the fox, but she didn't really want to explain why he should not stab a pitchfork into this one. It had been hard enough for her to get used to the fact that the kit was adopted by wolves, but her last meeting with Jiva and the utter cuteness of the little vulpine pup had warmed her up to the idea very rapidly. She continued to call in an attempt to get his attention, while the dingo put the pitchfork down and frowned, watching.

Leaf yapped as he noticed her, darting circles around her legs even as she gasped, Ohmygoshyou'resomuddy and tried to gesture for him to calm down -- though after trying to whinny and barking more, he finally plopped on his little muddy butt and peered up at the two Luperci. Wearily, the she-wolf glanced to the stablehand and waited a few moments before answering his questions. Yes, I saw all of those big noisy beasties, she answered, and (reluctantly) knelt to his (muddy) level. That's Jin -- he takes care of those beasties like your mommy takes care of flowers, she added, guessing the pup might not understand the concept of owning other animals. She heard the dingo snort but went on. I think Jin was scared you were going to eat those beasties, since you're such a big hunter!

This time the snort was louder, but Jindabyne only gave the puppy an exaggerated and playful stinkeye before touching Shiloh on the shoulder and heading away again -- going now to go calm down the horses that were still prancing anxiously in their stalls. With the threat of the pitchfork gone, Shiloh sighed, and looked warily over at Wilson as the white cat came trotting from the stall. She remembered Muddy reacting aggressively to the presence of the fox, but Wilson only sat down near him and started grooming himself.

Leaf, the white wolf said after a moment, why don't we go look at my big beastie? If you let me carry -- ugh. She peered at him. You need a bath, she stated with finality.

Man, do I love playing this little guy! ;3

The little kit allowed his gaze to follow Shiloh's gesture to the dingo 'Jin'. He tapped his front feet and yapped a short hello. He giggled at her comment. "Yeh! I's big enough to 'unt dose beaties!" The dingo Jin didn't seem as believing, but soon left the little gathering, leaving his pointy stick in a hay patch. Leaf's hazel eyes watched the snowy cat come closer. He remembered meeting another cat before, a browny one that didn't like him much. Leaf was probably way too big and imposing for the kitty, at least that's what he thought in his own head.

He trotted over the the cat and sniffed around him, this snow cat didn't seem as bothered. So, with a giggle, Leaf licked the cat gingerly. He returned his attention to Shiloh, who invited him to meet her big beastie friend. Leaf's eyes got wider, "Really, you's got a beastie too?" He yapped excitedly, a noise that spoke the words yes to the snow female above him. "Yes! Yes! Yes!" He barked, spinning in circles in his joy. His nose twitched and sniffed as Shiloh commented on his smell. He nosed around his muddy fur, getting some of the brown stuff on his coal black nose. Sneezing, he decided to come up with some way to get him out of going near water. "I's not needin' a bath!" He stated, "It's doe's beasties makin' bad smells! S'not me!" Giggling, he bounced around Shiloh again, stopping in front of her, little butt up in the air, while his front legs rested near the ground.

Leaf was full of enthusiasm, just as he seemed to be during their last meeting -- only he hadn't just woken from sleep in this instance, and had the whole livery to run around in. Shiloh flashed a smile at his eager yap about being big ... and wondered when he'd stop growing and realize he wasn't getting any bigger. She supposed that would be up to his parents to explain, though, and felt sad for a moment before watching carefully as he trotted over to Wilson -- and she had to laugh when he licked the tom. The cat flattened his ears and reached out to cuff the fox kit on the nose for invading his personal space, but it was no more than a tiny swat with his claws sheathed.

Those 'beasties' are called horses, Wilson meowed, and Shiloh smirked and flashed him a wry look, refraining (this time) from calling him a grouch. She only nodded in agreement, though, and was about to offer to carry Leaf when his state of muddiness came back to her attention.

She grinned as he protested that it was the horses that reeked, and shook her head. Oh, you aren't that smelly -- just very, very messy and muddy. My horsie might think you're a mud-monster and then he'd be really scared, she said with a theatrical frown. She glanced around, deciding that trying to toss a squirming fox into a bucket of water wouldn't end well, and then brightened as she got an idea. Why don't you go roll in the snow? she barked excitedly, and jogged over to a big pile of the stuff, scooping some up in her hands. The snow is fluffy water, so maybe if you play around in it you'll get some of the mud off! She grinned and made a show of rubbing some snow on her arms.

Oh, Wilson mewed, and flicked his tail before sending a playful look at the fox. Shiloh takes snow baths every day, and she made me take a million baths too -- and look at me! You ever wonder why our fur is so snowy white? He lifted his feline brows, insinuating that too many snow-baths would wash the color out of their fur. Shiloh responded by throwing a snowball at the cat.

Leaf giggled at the cat's reaction, eager to try and lick him again. His was happy with the term of a mud-monster, and let out a few roars or barks, pouncing at invisible prey. He sat down again as Shiloh demonstrated a fun way of getting clean. He liked snow, it was fluffy, like clouds but on the ground. Leaf could remember pretending the snow was clouds, and that he was flying around them. He was almost ready to tell the tales of flying, before realising that rolling around in snow would be much more fun. He jumped and yapped at the idea, following Shiloh to the snowy part of the fields. Leaf tilted his head, "Relly? Dat sound's fun!" He replied to the Cat's remark and raced towards the snow.

Maybe if Leaf's coat did turn white, then he'd be able to hide out in the snow more and pounce on any nasty creatures that lurk about. Thrilled by his idea, Leaf dunked his head down into the snow, flipping his little body over so that he landed on his back. The fluffy snow acted like soft fur. Leaf wriggled his body around, jumping here and diving over there. He constantly sneezed out snow from his nose and shook his fur away from too much snow. Some of it clinged in bunched to his fur, annoying at first, but then Leaf guessed that was how his fur would turn white.

After satisfying his energy, Leaf trotted over to the snowy pair, eager to show them the fun in the snow. Leaf giggled, and turned so that his tail faced Shiloh and Wilson. Using his coal black front paws, Leaf shovelled snow and flung it under his belly and towards the pair. He doubted much would get over the tall wolf, but at least the cat would get covered. Leaf jumped back to face Shiloh once he'd down spraying snow, "Dare! Now you's clean too!"He said cleverly.

Wilson's remark seemed to have the opposite effect as intended, and Shiloh decided with a laugh that Leaf wasn't too attached to his bright orange fur as he readily careened into the snow. Puppies could be such a handful, and Leaf had the fluidity of a cat in addition to the mind of a little wolf; she'd no doubt that he'd learn to work this to his advantage, if he fell into the stereotypical "sly" role. Now, though, he was only a child excitedly rolling in the snow, and Shiloh was delighted to see the mud start to wash from his ginger fur as he rolled and tumbled and thrashed and sneezed.

Once he felt he was clean enough, Leaf popped back up and trotted toward them -- then proceeded to face the other way, and shovel snow from between his hind legs with his dark paws. Shiloh yelped and stepped back as the snow flew at them, but Wilson was splattered with the stuff, yowling complaint before lashing out with a paw to send some snow of his own back at the kit. He then turned and hid behind Shiloh's ankles, a playful kink in his tail, and the she-wolf grinned.

C'mere, Leaf, up! she urged the fox, patting her chest and reaching out so that he would hop into her arms now that he was clean. We can go see my horsie now, but I've gotta hold you. If a horsie thinks you're scary, they might stomp on you -- and their feet are hard like rocks; it'd really hurt and you wouldn't be able to play anymore. In all reality, a kick from a horse's hoof would outright kill a little fox, but she didn't feel it was her place to use such harsh language if he wasn't in immediate danger. Instead, she patted herself again as invitation for him to leap into her arms. Besides, she added for extra incentive, you're a big beastie, but the horses are really tall, so if I don't carry you you can't see their funny long faces!

OOC- Imma back!

Leaf giggled as his onslaught on the snowy cat was accepted just as he'd planned. He bent his hind legs lower, ready to jump up to the arms of Shiloh, but waited to hear what she had to say first. He didn't like the idea of getting hurt, he'd felt it before and it wasn't nice. Nor did he like the idea of not being able to play anymore, and he was sure his parents wouldn't like it either. For a moment he felt a little scared, but he was too curious to back out. Besides, as Shiloh commented, he was a big and scary hunter, and a very brave little warrior. He'd defeat all the mean nasties in his imaginary world, and meeting these horsies would be a great little adventure, one the fox kit couldn't miss.

Leaf jumped up with ease, he'd found that jumping was something he was good at, with his little but springy legs. his black front paws curled over Shiloh's fore-arms. He giggled with excitement, his mind wondering about the horsies. Shiloh said that they had long, funny faces. But what else did they have. In Leaf's mind, they had pointy teeth, fluffy fur and huge, rock-like feet. Another, more fantasy part of his mind also believed that they had feathered wings and a long, lizard tail. Now that image was a lot less likely to be true.

The little fox jumped up into her arms, and Shiloh grinned as her arms came around to hold him. She shifted him slightly so that her hip could support some of his weight -- though she didn't think he would get much larger than this even when he was an adult. As he got comfortable, she nodded down to Wilson then headed toward the stall where her gelding waited.

Baldr, I've got someone who wants to see you, the white she-wolf cooed, and the white horse lifted his head at the sound of her voice, black ears twitching forward. Here, Leaf, see? She lowered the fox slightly so that his front paws could hook over the barn door, and the gelding stepped forward, leaning in with his long head and snuffling at the fox curiously. The horse was a very mild-mannered creature and didn't seem disturbed in the least by the little predator; he accepted Leaf just as he accepted the cats.

Shiloh smiled at Leaf. What do you think?
