A new face

Thora decided to spend her time going on her usual walks through the territory. Due to her Celtic heritage and personality, she loved nature, usually spending time to observe it. Whether it be a large tree, bushes, or plentiful flowers, she would take her time to observe it. She wasn't doing anything important at the moment so she spent her free time going on her nature walks. Thora wore her usual short Celtic dress with her Celtic jewelry. The pack mark otherwise known as The Hand of Eris, was carved on her right leg and could easily be seen due to the fact she was wearing her short Irish dress. She had already thanked Calla for performing her Cotona Ritual, and looking back on it, wasn't that bad. The thought of Calla's children she had met prior to the beginning of her ritual appeared for a moment as she thought of how they were doing. The Celtic female had the honor of meeting some very important wolves during her stay in Salsola, and hopefully someday, Thora would rise to the same rank they held if not better. Thora's entire mane was braided in a single Celtic braid which seemed to blow in the wind every now and again. Winter was slowly disappearing on the face of the land, and warmer weather seemed to take it's place. Soon during the summer, perhaps the young female could relax and enjoy some swimming in the water Salsola had to offer. Her eyes wandered to her battle axe she was carrying. Maybe she could spend time freshening up her skills with her battle axe in battle? A lot of possibilities for what to do in the warmer months popped in her head one after another. Thora knew one thing for sure, warmer months meant better hunting conditions.

Her thoughts turned to the lead hunter, The Jagermeister. Her sponsor had told her that the position was taken, but she hadn't met the canine yet who held the position. Though Thora was an exceptional hunter herself, she respected The Jagermeister's skill and rank as well. It would be an honor to be in the lead hunter's presence after all.

Sorry for the wait~ [ 256 ]

With the dearth of winter still upon them there was little time to waste on things the Jagermeister considered needless. His time was better spent hunting and trapping for the less skilled members of the pack that relied on a brimming stock of meat to keep them stated through the lean times. Things like rubbing shoulders and making idle chit-chat with his packmates came secondary and even tertiary to the duties of his rank and job, the things that mattered.

He pondered this while he made his way through the Ruins headed toward the pack stores as his borrowed horse, the docile Ignis, easily bore the burden of a freshly killed white tailed buck. The deer was older - it was obvious in the grey around its muzzle, its impressive size, and even more stunning ten point antlers - but it was healthy and had a lot of good meat, enough to bolster the stores for a good while.

"-which is why I prefer wild boar instead of pig." Vesta's voice came into focus suddenly at the end of her sentence and he moved his broad shoulders in something akin to a shrug as a dismissive sort of sound escaped him. Scorpius had a habit of tuning out needless chatter and while Vesta was usually very good at not bothering him, that day it seemed as though she was purposefully testing his patience. "You're not even pretending t' listen." She finally pointed out very matter-of-factly, feigning offense, but there was a wicked smile on her face.

As Thora walked along, her hair blowing elegantly in the wind, jewelry shining and stance confident, the young Celtic woman noticed two other canines speaking nearby. She pondered whether to go over and say hello, and finally being bored out of her mind walking by herself, she gathered up the courage to meet the other members of the pack. By the sound of it Thora hasn't seen them before, and meeting new faces was always exciting. She looked over herself making sure everything was in order and that she looked presentable. A cold wind went through Thora's fur, but with her thick coat it meant nothing to the young woman. She actually enjoyed the cold, but knew spring was going to hit the land any day now. Thora mustered up the courage to see where the voices came from and looked to see a male wolf with all black fur. His eyes were red and quite intimidating, yet Thora didn't seem to notice. Another wolf accompanied the black male as he walked, but the black male didn't seem interested. Minding her manners she went up to meet the pair with proper submissive behavior. It was obvious that the male was higher in rank, so Thora knew how to behave in the presence of higher ranking wolves. With a curt and polite bow she greeted the two with respectful words. "Hello, my name is Thora Connolly, I'm a member of the family. It's nice to meet the both of you." Her British accent held a proper tone as she spoke to them. After all Thora possessed some sort of class. She was raised to be proper despite her strength and skill in hunting and archery. She studied the two for a moment , patiently waiting for each to respond.

The young woman wondered what rank the other two wolves held. Curiosity filled her mind but she didn't dare ask. It wasn't her place to be asking what rank they were, and it would seem disrespectful. Instead she held her tongue, holding the urge of her questions.

The sound of another luperci on approach caught both their attention easily and Vesta was the first to take notice of the relative stranger as she made a beeline toward them. Scorpius, still with his focus on leading the horse and watching ahead, did not pay her much mind until she eventually closed the distance between them and their separate paths crossed rather abruptly.

Their conversation ended just as suddenly and when the Beast finally looked at the femme he couldn't help the wrinkle of his snout at the interruption. The expression was gone as quickly as it had appeared and his two-toned features soon settled into his usual stoic indifference as the stranger introduced herself.

Red eyes passed a glance from head to toe, assessing as always, before his maw dipped simply in acknowledgement. ”Scorpius D'Angelo, Jagermeister.” Usually his reputation preceded him but by her scent the femme seemed new enough not to know. Vesta nodded her salutation shortly thereafter. “Just Vesta, a Tradesman.” Her introduction was equally curt and to the point, her features softer than Scorpius but nonetheless emotionless. It felt odd, to step through the very heart of the Kingdom yet still meet a stranger, but neither canid was very socially inclined.

Thora's eyes widened as the black male spoke his name and his rank. This male named Scorpius, was the lead hunter himself! Thora made sure her behavior spoke nothing but respect as she quickly took the look of surprise off her face. "You are the lead hunter? It is truly an honor to be in your presence. I am quite the hunter myself. I am shooting for the rank of Cazador." Her golden eyes turned to the female named Vesta, and since she was also of higher rank, she made sure to give her respect as well. "It's also a pleasure to meet you too, Tradesman." Thora minded her manners making sure not to use their names, for that would be disrespectful. The black male seemed well built and his red eyes were somewhat intimidating, but she kept that thought at the back of her head. She hadn't expected that her walk would lead her to one of the most skilled wolves in the pack. If she had known, she would have presented herself more nicely. The young brown wolf noticed he had the mark of Salsola near his chest but didn't study him any further than that. Her mark was somewhat visible on her right leg, some of it covered by her dress. She had a lot of questions she wanted to ask the Jagermeister, but kept them to herself. Thora didn't want to come off as rude, so she waited for both wolves to speak instead. Asking question after question would seem childish at most. Thora held respect in her stance, especially for the lead hunter, as she waited for both wolves to talk any further. She was very interested to know more about the black wolf who stood in front of her. He was a talented hunter, and perhaps gaining a better connection with him would boost her standing in the pack.

A flicker of surprise lit the features of the femme for a moment before she settled herself in a deeper display of submission, to which Scorpius nodded lightly, pleased at least with the fact that she knew her place. There were so many souls all jockeying for position and rank and respect in the pack that sometimes something as simple as proper shows of submission were forgotten, which - as an old fashioned wolf set in his ways - was not something he so easily forgave. Fortunate for him, the Jagermeister's elevated rank allowed him the authority to correct such foolish lapses in judgement.

"If you have what it takes you will be welcome among the Cazadores." He replied simply. It was one thing to hope and dream and aspire and another thing entirely to succeed in something. Salsola valued it's members as assets, as hard workers, as contributors in whatever way they could. Some, like Scorpius and Vesta, were good at hunting and protection. Others were good at merchantry and trade. Others still had the skills to create things. Everyone had their place. Everyone earned it. There was no such thing as freebies. If the femme really did want to run among the Cazadores, to fall under his command, she would have to prove herself just like everyone else.
