Knock knock. It’s the Asura Animal Delivery Service.

NPCs: Emmet and Prescilla

Her family had tried to console her in the weeks after the dreadful event that had led to Sapient’s disbandment. What she had done, it had been for the right reasons, even if the outcome was something that she regretted. Her friends and packmates had all gone their own ways, scattering to the wilds from whence they’d all once come. The pack’s scent markers would fade with time with nobody continuing to mark them, and, Asura had wondered more than once in her journey to Casa di Cavalieri, what might become of what had been her home during her teenage years.

She had taken the trek to the knightly pack alone despite her family’s insistence that one of them join her. The young medic didn’t want the company, only to be left in her own thoughts as she considered what the next step in her life might be. She had started the trip with three of Sapient’s communal animals, but her number had dropped down to two after a fateful meeting with a coyote-hybrid named Merari Tears.

From the sounds of things, Inferni had been hit with hard times as well. Perhaps it was fortunate though—as horrible as it may have sounded to think as much—otherwise, poor Hen Wen would not have been able to have someone that truly knew how to care for her and give her an appropriate amount of attention.

It had been some time since she had visited the pack with which Midnight Shores had once been allies with. Almost…two years now. She had been a puppy then, having traveled there with her mother to help in the aftermath of the Red Star. Asura didn’t remember much of it, only that the pack’s members had been misplaced from their true home. If she thought hard enough, she could recall a few figures too, though, what their names may have been, she couldn’t remember.

Asura dismounted from Emmet when she felt she might be getting close, and brought her diminished group to a halt when Casa di Cavalieri’s scent markers grew strong. The stallion tugged on the lead, but she held firmly, knowing better than to let the troublesome horse think he had any sort of leverage over her. Thankfully, the goat she’d brought along on Moon Moon’s behalf, Prescilla, was less of a handful. Otherwise, Asura would have had to have brought someone else with her to handle the lesser creatures.

Once Emmet was under control again, Asura let up a summoning howl, hoping that the word of her packmate had been truthful, and the man that had once owned the stallion remained within the knightly pack.

It was not unusual that people would call for him at the borders, he did sell the honey and mead and candles and occasionally word of his provisions got out. He anticipated that this is what it would be and quickly strode to fill a satchel with some of the aforementioned wares. Unfortunately his mother and father were out with all the horses so Honrin had to hoof it on foot across the forests of the pack lands.

The early afternoon sun was fierce and hot and he did his best to walk within the shade and avoid the clearings with the large stretches of open ground. In the end he saw a grey woman and a horse in the distance. He strode a bit further before squinting to make sure he was seeing what he was seeing. Emmet?

He sped up his pace and want panting a bit by the time he reached her. It was no doubt that it was Emmett. He opened his mouth to ask who and why and where and all those types of questions but propriety and politeness compelled him first,

Hello, I'm Honrin. You called for me? His deep accented voice rumbled and pale brows drew together as he looked from her to his former horse wondering what all of this meant.

It didn’t take long for someone to arrive, and she was thankful for that. With a horse as stubborn and challenging as Emmet, the last thing Asura would have wanted was for someone to arrive at the borders with her trying to make the stallion mind. And that was if the goat didn’t decide to suddenly be disobedient too. She was only one Luperci, and she could have only done so much if either animal decided to act out.

The individual was male, and not someone the silver Creo recognized from her last trip to the knightly pack. He stood on the taller side, muscular and built like someone who did a lot of manual labor. Against ivory fur, there were a multitude of scars, the most striking being on his face, partially obscured here and there by his long locks of hair.

She offered him a friendly smile, unsure if he was the man she was to be looking for. With how his golden gaze flicked to Emmet with a look comparable to recognition, there was a strong likelihood. He confirmed his identity with an introduction, and, to this Asura nodded her head to his respectfully, just as any Loner or outsider should do when coming to someone’s border.

“I’m Asura Creo of—” she stopped short, correcting her words, “—formally of Sapient. Our pack disbanded a few weeks ago, and I heard that Emmet’s original owner lived down here in Casa di Cavalieri. I came to see if you might want him back.” She glanced to the horse, smirking at him as he tossed his head. “He’s too…challenging for many Luperci, and he’d likely only be traded for goods in Portland.”

Her gaze shifted then to the goat that was snacking on some sort of vegetation. “As for the goat, Moon Moon Damaichu said that there was someone here who either owned a few of them or wanted one or she owed him something…?” Asura trailed off, her tone indicating that the ordeal of figuring out such information had been…quite trying. She knew not of the specifics, only that she was to bring the goat with her to Casa di Cavalieri.

She was tense he could see, tense in a way a wolf was when they had no back-up. Though Honrin knew from experience that Emmet was not an easy horse to deal with. She smiled friendly enough, his tail swayed to and fro. Her face nagged at him, like a half remembered dream. Maybe something about the shape of her face, or the slant of her ears.

Her surname had recognition coming to him, lighting up his face with familiarity. Her tale was a sad one, another pack disbanding. He frowned, too many thoughts coming to him at once and he struggled not to just blurt them all out in an undignified manner,

"Yeah, that's me.. and.. yeah. I'd be willing to take him back. Well.. Casa would be willing to take both of them...." He was looking at her strangely, in an odd sort of way. He remembered a Skana from Midnight Shores with that last name, he wondered if he should ask for her relation. He shook the thoughts from his mind and focused back properly on her,

"I appreciate you bringing him all the way down here for me." He laughed, rubbing at the back of his neck,

"It wasn't that long ago I was at Sapient trading you guys for his daughter. She's just as wild and stubborn." He rolled his eyes skywards as though to ask the gods to give him strength,

"What would you want for them? I got some.. mead and food and honey and things here with me... Casa has more in our Fort that we could trade." Asura had brought the two all the way from Sapient by herself and that was no easy feat, he wouldn't presume to insult her by accepting them without offering something worth the effort in kind.

And he became the sun, to shine upon the worthy

NPCs: Emmet and Prescilla (+377)

She was thankful to hear that her journey to the knightly pack had not been all for nothing. Asura wasn't sure what she would have done if the stallion’s owner had not come or had otherwise rejected the horse and goat. It would have made for a very awkward meeting with a Cavalier, that was for certain. Still, even for accepting the two animals, the ivory male had a weird look to his face. It was like he was trying to place something, or was confused about another. She nearly questioned him, but he seemed to come back to reality just as the words began to form on her tongue.

Asura offered him a smile and waved him off for his gratitude. “It's not s big deal, really.” she turned and lightly patted Emmet’s muscles neck. “If it gets this guy a new home with someone that might make more of him than horse meat, it was worth it.” And, besides, it also got her away from the turbulent decision that her family was in the midst of making about their future. Traveling was an easy way to take her mind off of it just as was to keep her from answering their insistent questions.

Looking the stallion over, she tried to image what one of his offspring might have been like. “I don't doubt that,” she concluded with a laugh, “I'm sure his personality would still come out even if you bred him to the calmest, gentlest mare on this Earth.”

When he offered to trade for his old steed, the silver wolfdog’s brows rose with surprise. She'd come to Casa di Cavalieri with every intention to just give the two animals away, not barter for their return. She stood apart from Emmet and shook her head, offering the Cavalier a friendly and polite chuckle, “If I could rest for a day or two within the safety of your borders, that would be plenty, Honrin. It would be too cumbersome to take anything more than that.” She had not brought Muddy with her, nor had she another Luperci to help haul and protect any goods that another Loner might feel brave enough to try to relieve her of.

Her assertion that it was no big deal, didn't really fly with him. Did she forget he was the one who had dragged Emmet all the way from Cercatori to Sapient in the first place. Still he laughed at her joke about the stallion, shifting to stand with his hands clasped behind his back.

He was immediately determined that this woman would receive something for her troubles, considering how much of an asshole Emmet was when he felt like it, which was always. A fact that evidently surprised her, he gathered, by the raising of her eyebrows.

With genial friendliness, he waved her across the borders with a flourish of a pale hand, taking the reins of the pale horse.

Casa would be glad to host yourself for as long as you need. We'd also be glad to provide you with a mount and escort back to where you need to go. It went unspoken, but it was obvious that said mount would be provisioned for such a journey and his offered repayments for the animals.

He extended Casa's gracious hand, sure that the Lune would agree with him and led her into the forested lands Casa called home.
