With Brocade homeless (O'Riley did not count the sad little tent as a proper home), Kamari ill, Idrieus' home too small, and Helena too pregnant to be of any use, the point of gathering had fallen to the reluctant Erilaz.

His house had once been a barn and the open ceiling and large central area reflected this truth. It had been modified by the original owners, his mother's mother and her husband, creating division to allow him privacy when sleeping. The secondary door, which was wider than the main entrance, allowed Olaf and Jonesy the ability to come and go when opened as it was today. O'Riley used the horse and mule for labor as opposed to riding, which meant they had enjoyed a very lazy winter. With spring soon coming, the pair were eager to snatch up the new grass sprouting in the fenced pasture where they now lingered.

He was at least glad for the privacy, of which they needed. They had discovered plenty of old wounds and hostility between members of the Family, but this was nothing new. For as long as Salsola had existed so too had the undercurrent. If one was not aware of it they might drown in fresh air.

Being that the gathering was meant for business, O'Riley provided little in terms of amenities. For his current guests, O'Riley had procured cold (but cooked) pieces of meat and plain water. Talk could be so boring, after all.

...eliminated them, O'Riley was concluding. He began to say something else when there was a great clatter from behind, near the entrance to the pasture.

The lynx flung himself into the room, fur all puffed out and eyes wide. O'Riley was on his feet in an instant.

What's wrong? He demanded.

Keenan's frantic answer had them running out the door.

*****

It would have taken too long for him to shift and O'Riley cursed this even as they rushed on. Four legs would have gotten him there sooner, but he could not remember ever running so fast in his life. They were a whirlwind, the four of them, but even this could not grant them the speed they so desperately needed.

There was no time to slow down when they reached the house, and O'Riley didn't think to do so. Instead he charged bullishly into the door, throwing the entirety of his weight into the wood. It burst open with a horrendous noise, but nothing was quite as horrific as the scene within.

A bloodbath greeted them, as did the two women locked in mortal combat.

O'Riley let out a cry of protest and flung himself towards the larger assailant. He snatched at her wild hair and yanked, forcing his free hand towards the jaws that now desperately snapped for anything that might bleed – his fingers fell prey to this even as he sought to force her jaw open. Delfina fought him, bucking with a strength that surprised the Erilaz, and the two tumbled away from Kamari and onto the bloody floor.

Inches of pressure would mean that she would break through the skin and suckle at the blood that flowed beneath. She could practically taste the lifeblood beneath her teeth and she felt her elation rising with every notch of increased pressure she applied. Soon, so soon, she would sever that artery and let Kamari bleed out, satisfying the vision that led Delfina to that point.

A sharp pain at her scalp very nearly made her jaws release, but she held tight, eyes shoot upward to the hands that tugged at her. O'Riley's face was all she saw and the blind panic began to set into her heart. Her head ached slightly.

No. No. No no no no. Nonononono.

She growled as the shock truly set it, her jaws tightened momentarily until fingers pried them apart and Kamari's throat slid away from her eager tongue. Delfina instantly snapped at the nearest thing, which happened to O'Riley's hand. She kicked hard after letting go but the man's strength pulled her off of Kamari.

Delfina let out a ghastly shriek of protestation, filling the room with her angry keening. Her hands fought O'Riley, digging into the arm that pulled her away. How dare he? How dare he defy her holy quest?

Free me! I am a holy vessel! she screeched wildly, fingers reaching for the female being attended to by a slew of others. Her limbs flailed and she screamed bloody murder.

The meeting was typical, especially with the Inquisition actively going on. Krios came in Kamari's stead. Well, no. He came for himself but promised to pass on the information to his wife when the meeting adjourned. What Krios had not been expecting was a lynx to rush into the modified barn and relay a hastily given message from the trio of cats that prowled the couple's home. Neither of them were present but the lynx was likely faster than them and they would not wander far from Kamari's presence.

The message sent them all rushing, running. Krios could feel his heart hammering louder than it ever had. The blind fear of a man in love nearly left his vision swimming but he followed after O'Riley.

Moments after the man smashed open his door, Krios took in the sight. His wife lay on the floor with his aunt straddling her. The smell of blood in the air was heavier than he'd have ever liked it to be. His throat caught and he was only a few steps behind O'Riley. But he rushed to Kamari's side, waiting for the other man to pull the witch that was his own blood away from his closest friend and wife.

Tight jawed, he delicately moved her away from the flailing limbs of Delfina, and with shaking hands ripped apart her shirt. There was no time for modesty as he eyed the oozing wound and checked for life, pulling her head into his lap and crooning softly. His tone was placating but there was hatred in his eyes as he looked up at his screaming aunt.

OOC: Hopefully the PP is ok. Let me know if anything needs to be changed. +500 words.

Idrieus knew that she could not be a shut in for the entire time this event was going on. She was the Paladin, there were things that would be expected of her, and no doubt the other members of the Inquisitions would have their hands full, needing her to start contributing to finding out what was actually going on in Salsola. The time to mourn had passed, and with not only the short trip to make sure that Embla was alright and the time it took to make sure that Grievous would be comfortable in his new home, it was time for her to pack her feelings away once more.

The dog woman was quick to accept the summons to the High Inquisitor's home. There wasn't much the man had done to get on her bad side.. at least not like the other two males that were present. Even so, it would do no good to make a scene like she had managed to do the last time she had been together with other high ranked members.

Blue gaze focused on O'Riley, giving him her full attention as he spoke. At least this male seemed to get the idea behind a gathering like this one. It was more important to discuss what was going on rather than joke around and eat. Granted, he had provided some things for the members to snack on... but very basic stuff.

This was far more to her liking.

Idrieus' head snapped over to the lynx as it came into the room. The bigger cats had their presence in the kingdom, but rarely did they seem to come in with such a worry and panic in their posture as well as their face. Something was wrong.

The Paladin was quick to follow behind the High Inquisitor, fingers curled around the grip of her rapier. There was no telling what was going to greet them when they came to the home. The first thing that hit her was the smell of blood hanging in the air, the red clear across the floor and the two women, one on top of the other. Eyes narrowed on women that was on top.

Delfina.

She and her new mate had their eyes set on her since the death of the former Seer, and now here she was, teeth around the neck of the Emissary. Instant snarl formed on the Paladin's lips, quick to follow behind the High Inquisitor's actions. He had been the first to pull Delfina off Kamari, wrestling with her. Her rapier was not going to do much in this situation. Since it seemed most of her attention was on the male, it would do good to allow her to come in and restrain the mad woman.

Idrieus moved to the woman's upper body, inevidable fighting following as she went to hold the woman down. Claws cut across her skin, her own blood trickling through her fur, but it had been enough to get Delfina's wrists restrained. Eyes narrowed down on the female, her head moving over briefly to check on Kamari. Though she hated Krios, it was good to see that he was the one taking care of his wife. Kamari would recover.. she had to..

It was a meeting that had an edge to it. There was no room for the Shield Tiers ego to run rampant beneath the Erilaz' violet gaze, and despite the fact that Idrieus and Krios had never see eye to eye - in the barn they sat silently with arms crossed, their expressions keenly focused on the Erilaz as he spoke. Their investigation had revealed little in the way of prime suspects, and brocade believed with every fibre of his being that Salsola was too strong, too steadfast in its ambition to allow for such weakness to run rampant amongst them. Outsiders were who had killed Loki Helsi, he just had no way to prove it beyond the feeling that had been brewing in his gut ever since he had set foot upon the forsaken ground of his pyre.

While the others sat he stood pacing, flicking a tattered ear towards each voice that rang between them clear as day.

When the cat came everyone stiffened, the energy between them gone cold. Brocade felt his face twist into a snarl as together the Inquisition ran towards his nephews home, their two-legged forms cumbersome and slow despite the fervor in their voices. Tails lashed and pelts bristled, and as O'Riley threw himself into the door it cracked open with a cacophony of creaking wood and a door way which cried out as the door was thrown from its hinges with little ceremony. The others flew in after him, and Brocade tasted the scent of blood upon his tongue as soon as he burst through the threshold.

It was everywhere - garish and red - caught up in their hands and laced between their teeth. Delfina Heiwa towered over Kamari and for the first time Brocade considered how small she was; a bundle of blood and shadow who struggled against her assailant. Delfinas snapped at Kamari's throat and Brocade barked a warning as he ducked around the Erilaz and held one of the womans hands at bay. Delfina was screeching at the dusty rafters of the cabin, her eyes wide as they shoved her to the floor and restrained her.

Brocade caught an elbow on his muzzle as he looped ties around her wrists, and with a roar he snapped at her shoulder in retaliation. There was no time for him to check on Kamari as Delfina continued to struggle against all three of them - and Brocade was surprised by how strong she was despite their constant pressure.

Blood trickled from Idrieus' wounds, and the soldier could feel warmth against his lips from where his nose had begun to bleed from being struck.

They continued their work and Brocade threw a question into the air as Delfina began another keening wail, "Krios?"

Optime | The Ruins (KamKrios house) | Dated: March 26th; afternoon (+412)

[SL] Curse of the Sanctum

Set directly after [M] this thread.

The spots increased, and Kamari could feel herself slipping despite her efforts to claw at the increasing darkness. Damn it. Damn it all. She couldn’t let Delfina win, but she was powerless to stop her. What a wretched way to die; weakened by poison, she’d lost in an unfair fight and to the jaws of a vile, crazed creature.

There was a loud eruption of noise then, and Delfina’s grip on her was suddenly ripped away. Teeth left her throat, clawed hands left her wrists, and she was pulled away from the flurry of commotion that descended upon the wild Heiwa.

Kamari gasped chokingly, the jerking rise and fall of her diaphragm irritated her bleeding injuries. She felt the rest of her shredded tunic being ripped from where it clung to her body. In her struggle to put air back into her lungs, however, she didn’t care to stop them. She was pulled against something warm, a presence that brought comfort to her.

Her dark haze cleared, and the full roar of the scene assaulted her. Sounds of a fight—full of snarls, growls, and screaming—filled her ears. The strong stench of blood still clouded her nose. Her cornflower blue eyes recognized the figures of the Kingdom’s elite, the Inquisition, the Shield; O’Riley, Brocade, and Idrieus. All three struggled to contain the fury of the enraged Delfina as she snapped, clawed, and fought against the three large Luperci.

They’d made it. She wasn’t sure how, but, they’d made it before the dark witch could silence another Salsolan.

A hand came up to grasp her neck. Her throat…it was wet with saliva, but she didn’t feel any holes, didn’t feel the warmth of her own life liquid spilling from it.

Kamari leaned against the body she was held against, her eyes flicking upwards to find the face of her husband. “Krios,” she wheezed. She had never been happier to see him. Pain erupted from her side, and she grimaced, her stained hands moving to grasp her stab wound in an effort to staunch the bleeding. “Delfina…she came after you left…” She coughed and winced. Her throat felt like it was bruised from the woman’s jaws. “I…I tried…I’m sorry.”

She’d tried to fight Delfina off and had nearly failed, and there was an anger that burned in her for being a weakness within the Shield.

Even as they rolled across the wood, O'Riley felt the madwoman's claws dig into his skin. She was shrieking nonsense.

Idrieus and Brocade where there, though, and the two of them managed to restrain Delfina enough for O'Riley to untangle himself from beneath her. His hand hurt, and as he squeezed it to slow the bleeding, crouched on the floor, all he could hear was Delfina's voice caterwauling.

Someone muzzle that crazy bitch! He barked. The fur all across his body was on end, increasing his already impressive bulk to an impossible size. There was open fury plastered across his snarling face and bared teeth – not merely for the audacity of this attack, but for what had been done to his own person. Hot pain was spreading up from his hand, which was shaking despite his attempts to hide this.

If they were alone, he would have killed her for that.

As it stood now, this singular incident was most certainly telling of some greater scheme. The Inquisition could execute her here, in private, but the masses would never be content to be left in the dark. Elphaba had made a spectacle of this curse and Salsola needed a proper answer for the crimes committed against it. Equally important was that she, the Boss, know of the deed before he or anyone else ripped Isabella Heiwa's last living daughter from her mortal coil.

Everything was falling apart around her ears and Delfina did not know what to do about that. None of her visions ever suggested she would be stopped or that anyone would ever intervene in her holy order. What was the meaning of it? Why would the Goddess guide her to such glory only to strip her of the honor promised her. She was baffled.

Even her limbs slowly succumbed to the hands that reached for her. Ropes wrapped around her flailing body parts, but she could not figure out how to get out of it. Slowly, twist by tie, her hope died like the candle snuffing out without oxygen. Her Goddess was abandoning her and she did not know what to do.

Her heart full of panic, she felt the ties secure tightly, her fingers locking against each other and shaking. Her body trembled as O'Riley secured her, the blood of too many bodies scenting the air at all. All the while, Delfina's voice was ripping through the air, screeching with as much volume as she could muster. It mingled with the intermittent sobs that also somehow escaped her maw and the ugly tears fell down her face as she was properly secured like the mad monstrosity she was.

But why? But why? she sobbed, half-screaming the words out as rope came to her maw and she could not muster up the energy to snap at the bonds. I was doing what I was told, she added, trying her best to salvage a decidedly unsalvageable situation.

Somehow, from his position, he managed to soak the ripped remains of his wife's shirt into the water by the fireplace. It was a stretch and he nearly missed, but it was enough to get it soaked and squeezed to dampness. He settled it over her wound, pressing it to stifle the flow of blood. Granted, it was not bleeding too much, but he was shaking in worry and his fingers needed something to do.

Shh, it's okay, don't apologize, he said softly, brushing his other hand over her hair. He ran his fingers through the short strands as soothingly as he could, but there was precious little else the man could do for her. They needed a true medic, and that was simply none of them. They ought to send for his grandmother, who would be able to fix her up plenty well.

Someone, get my grandmere. She'll help, he said softly, looking up at Brocade and then at Idrieus. There was no anger or hostility in his gaze toward her, even if she could be incredibly annoying and obtuse. He didn't care in that moment, not at all. In that moment, they were all Inquisitors of the Shield and that was all that mattered. Please, he added, turning his attention to his wife's wound, gingerly lifting up the moist cloth and inspecting the blood. He grimaced.

I will scream them loud tonight
Can you hear my voice this time?

OOC: Gen, you can PP Idri coming back with Isabella the next round. +300 words.

Brocade was quick the throw himself in with the High Inquisitor as well as Idrieus' mess in dealing with the mad woman. While on any other occasion she would have rather been the one taking care of this, especially when she was the one that hadn't been as active as the others as of late, his assistance would be of good help to lessen their own injuries. O'Riley had done a good job with making sure Delfina was held done, her own strength used to keep her pinned, and the final person in their trio actually being the one to tie her.

All three of them had taken some injuries in holding her down, to be sure, but it wasn't anything the three of them couldn't handle. Once they had been able to restrain her arms, both of them had moved to restrain the rest of her. Flopped ears pinned back slightly to Delfina's words, not really buying any of it.

Blue eyes moved over to the Director, moving her hands up to close Delfina's mouth to more easily bind it shut.

When the mad woman had been taken care of, the Paladin's head moved back over towards Kamari. Krios had been tending to his wife... though his eyes had soon moved up to meet with her own and Brocade's. For once, she could see the worry in his eyes, the lack of hate and arrogance that he once had when she stood before him at their last get together.

Pushing herself up onto her feet, she paced towards the door, "I'll get Isabella." Her head moved to both the other males, leaving Delfina in their hands as she disappeared through the doorway, moving her hands over her small injuries as she paced through Salsola to the Hiewa woman's home.
