Territory Contest

To kick off our first month of being a pack we would like to invite you to participate in helping to shape the realm!

We are looking for sub-territories to add to our Pack Territory and we would like to give each of you an opportunity to contribute! With a new territory to explore it seems only fitting that our members will be able to find landmarks and useful portions of land to name and describe! If your character is aiming to become a Pathfinder this is also a great time to accomplish some threads in relation to this co-rank!

You may submit buildings, natural landscapes, or anything that you think may stand out from the territory's natural terrain. The due date for our contest is September 28th at 9:00PM EST.

    Sub-Territory Name: Frogwheel Mill
Where is it?: Somewhere in woodland in The River Valley.
What is it?: A disused water-powered gristmill.
Description: Tucked away in a deciduous copse, the old mill looks little more than a simple square shack with a pitched roof and a curiously large wheel attached. The pulleys and chains which once made the wheel turn in the grain-producing process have long since rusted and ceased to function but the water which powered it still sings over smooth rocks in the creek below. It seems that frogs have taken a liking to the surrounding area and their choruses can easily be heard on Summer evenings.

    Sub-Territory Name: Thinker's Dell
Where is it?: Between Sugarloaf Resort & The Steppes of Belfalas
What is it?: A clearing in coniferous forest which plays host to several types of lichen/moss/funghi.
Description: One has to push past a delicate curtain of Old Man's Beard lichen in order to enter the clearing. The dark branches of conifers crisscross protectively, seemingly growing closer together near the canopy. Still, enough sunlight penetrates the canopy to allow a soft carpet of moss alongside the growth of several types of mushroom. The lichen fronds on the edges of the dell give the place a dreamy feeling; those seeking the wisdom of the Gods or just a quiet place to think might appreciate the unique setting.
    Image

    Sub-Territory Name: Iolar Field
Where is it?: somewhere in The Teeth
    What is it?: A blockfield
Description: The ridges on either side of Iolar (Eagle) Field might look intimidating to traverse but those who attempt to cross the field of sharp rocks and stones below will swiftly change their minds. Even before the disappearance of humankind only the most intrepid (or lacking in sense) would attempt to navigate this terrain: the stones shift beneath your feet as you cross them and their screeching protests can be heard from a distance - hence the name 'Iolar' (eagle). This could be a place for someone to hone their dexterity or simply to search the nooks between the stones for any dropped trinkets.
    Image

    Sub-Territory Name: Dreaming Tree
    Where is it?: Lowlands/River Valley
What is it?: A strangely growing tree
Description: Nobody is quite sure how the tree survives as it grows almost horizontally over large, flat rocks with only a gentle upward curve toward its crown. With its branches reaching outward to expose its trunk, it offers Luperci something of a natural bench in a quiet spot. Named after the way it appears to be resting in slumber, the tree would make a good setting for romantic liaisons or even a storytelling session. With a clear view of the sky, a dreamer might be able to lose themselves in the clouds.
    Image

    Sub-Territory Name: The Seatangles
Where is it?: The Sword Coast
What is it?: An area of seaweed growth in the shallows/along the shore.
Description: On an especially treacherous and rocky section of the coast, fronds of seaweed wave gently from the water. With the heady scent of the ocean around them, some Luperci might be lured down at low tide to investigate what appears to be a miniature forest - if they can avoid their paws getting tangled in the long seaweed strands! Mostly made up of Rockweed and Irish Moss, the Seatangles also drape over a series of rock pools which might be holding anything from turtle eggs to jellyfish.
    Image

    Sub-Territory Name: Chimetower
Where is it?: West of City Square
What is it?: An old belltower
Description: Whatever stone building this tower once belonged to has crumbled around it; the tower itself is half collapsed, with what remains of the walls overtaken by greenery. Some sections of the spiral stone stairway leading to the top of the structure can be seen but some are unstable. If a daring Luperci was to make it to the top they would find that small songbirds like to nest in the rafters of a room dominated by an ancient and rusty bell with a chain for ringing still attached. If it still works it's certain that the whole pack will know about it.. and the ringer may risk losing their hearing temporarily.

    Sub-Territory Name: Ashena Orchard
Where is it?: The River Valley
What is it?: An overgrown apple orchard
Description: Four untended rows of apple trees are interspersed with other trees and brush and long grass. The scent of apple blossoms wafts over the area in late spring and early summer, followed by the crisp scent of apples closer to harvest time. The apples that grow are small and sour, partly due to competition for resources, and partly due to the age of the trees.

    Sub-Territory Name: Corenedh
Where is it?: The Low Lands, maybe near Enedwaith
What is it?: Rings of mushrooms and circles of different colored grass like these
Description: In a small clearing protected by surrounding trees, mushrooms grow in established, near-perfect circles. There are similar rings of grass grouped around the mushrooms, with the largest circle in the middle of them all. The clearing has a calm feel to it and light breezes filter through the trees, and in the summer, fireflies rise from the grass, lending an ethereal sense to the area.

    Sub-Territory Name: Tatharael
Where is it?: The Low Lands
What is it?: A pond surrounded by willow trees
Description: Weeping willow trees surround a placid pond. Although it's too shallow for large fish, ducks like to make their nests nearby and feed on the aquatic plants and grasses on the shore. Water lilies dot the surface of the water, home to frogs and bugs.

    Sub-Territory Name: Drochaid Brasil
    Where is it?: Enedwaith
What is it?: A man-made bridge covering a portion of land in Enedwaith
Description: Many have mulled over this strange bridge that starts from and leads to nowhere; from the dense undergrowth of vines and grasses emerges a rotting construction from the days of humans, and it is uncertain where exactly this small wooden bridge was intended to lead to, for pieces of it have been splintered, weathered, or simply toted away after years of stagnation. Nonetheless, it still manages to stretch a considerable distance.

    Sub-Territory Name: Auchenblae
Where is it?: The Steppes of Belfalas
What is it?: Interspersed patches of wildflowers in the mountain greenery!
Description: Within the rocky peaks of Belfalas is a pleasing sight in the warmer months: irregular stretches of wildflowers swaying gently in the mountain breeze. While there are all manners of colors that bloom here, yellow is the most prevalent, and these sweet-smelling flowers offer the perfect vantage point for taking in the grandeur of the mountain summit.

    Sub-Territory Name: Lochan Glas
Where is it?: somewhere near Lebennin and Enedwaith (maybe between?)
What is it?: A green pond/stream in the middle of woods nearby the River Valley
Description: Saddled up against one of the meandering trails in Enedwaith leads to a peculiar pond. It is stagnant and ripe with algae, the likes of which are so pervasive and dominant of the body of water that no Luperci efforts can ever hope to rid the pond of its presence. While it offers little in the way of fishing, it is indeed an awe-inspiring sight, a freak incident of nature not ordinarily displayed in other ponds of the area.

    Sub-Territory Name: The Mordotir
Where is it?: The Highlands (The Teeth)
What is it?: Several distinctive teeth along the mountain range
Description: Known locally as the "Shadow Watchers," these distinctive peaks, which are admittedly lower in altitude than the highest stretches of The Teeth, maintain a prominent admiration (and sheepish disquiet) from the Realm. Standing clear from the mountain range that it calls family, these sharp and jagged pinnacles almost appear as though sentinels of New Caledonia, watching both its people and its enemies for evidence of wrong-doing.

    Sub-Territory Name: Thurinansenn
    Where is it?: The Lowlands
What is it?: A small, dilapidated farm along one of the rivers
Description: Tucked in along the sharpest bend of a river, and hidden away by a thick curtain of Northern Red Oak, Balsam Fir, and Black Ash, this modest farmstead of times past remains as a testament to a long dead civilization. But in its decay, where healthy trees now stretch upwards among overgrown fields and missing roofs, a delicate peace has settled in and persists to the present day. Visitors to Thurinansenn, or "Hidden Valley of Tranquility," may find this small pocket of land to be just the little piece of heaven they were searching for.

    Sub-Territory Name: Erinqua Isle
Where is it?: The Sword Coast
What is it?: A small, stony island off the coast, complete with an old lighthouse
Description: Situated just off of The Sword Coast, this singular rocky island sits. As though in an obstinate sense of pride, Erinqua Isle plays host to an aging piece of architecture: an old and useless lighthouse. Useless human artifacts aside, however, this little isle is also a popular breeding ground for local seabirds and observant (and adventurous) New Caledonians may catch on rather quickly that eggs can be found in abundance here during certain times of the year... provided one takes the time (and the risk) to travel out there!

    Winners!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Territory Contest for the month of September! There were so many great submissions that it made it very difficult to decide! After much deliberation we settled upon four new territories that will be added to the Realm for all of us to explore! Some even seem to have some spook to them...

    Congratulations to:

    Mandi – 1st Place (Icon, Title) +75 + 45 Honor

    Rat – 2nd Place (Icon, Title) +50 + 45 Honor
    Sub-Territory Name: Chimetower
Where is it?: West of City Square
What is it?: An old belltower

    Veldt – 3rd Place (Icon, Title) +25 +45 Honor
Sub-Territory Name: Lochan Glas Where is it?: somewhere near Lebennin and Enedwaith (maybe between?) What is it?: A green pond/stream in the middle of woods nearby the River Valley Description: Saddled up against one of the meandering trails in Enedwaith leads to a peculiar pond. Myst – 4th Place (Icon, Title) +15 + 45 Honor

Where is it?: The River Valley
What is it?: An overgrown apple orchard Description: Four untended rows of apple trees are interspersed with other trees and brush and long grass.
