The stars filled the sky like millions of diamonds studded on a velvet cape. On the ground small creatures skittered from here to there and crickets played their songs. Suddenly, through the trees burst a dark, young wolf. All the small, scavenging creatures fled from the clearing and into the trees. At first the crescent moon cast strange lighting on the wolf's face, giving it a frightening appearance. It did not help that the wolf would not stay still and was running frantically around in no particular direction. The wolf may have looked scary but if looked at closer she was not so intimidating. She had a dark, rusty brown coat although white on the belly and parts of the face. Her eyes, open wide, were such a dark brown that they looked almost coal coloured - it was hard to distinguish the pupil from the iris. Her fur was matted and thick with dirt. The ribs in her chest and the bones on her back were clearly visible. On her back was a strange, round creature. It was a hedgehog. The hedgehog contrasted greatly against the wolf's fur. It had white spines which were currently laid back as it clung on for dear life. The wolf's name was Enya; the hedgehog's, Hesper. Enya's flailing gait continued on into the distance. Eventually the strong scent of other wolves reached her and she stumbled blindly towards them. She couldn't make it though and collapsed metres short of the nearest wolf. Enya lay there twitching feverishly. Her runt sized body was breathing shortly and quickly. Hesper had rolled off her back and lay in front of her. Blindly Enya moved her paw feeling on the ground for Hesper, eventually finding him she pulled his body close and curled around it. Her eyes opened and shut rapidly then eventually closed and didn't open again. Under those closed eyes, she saw: Her mother. Her mother had returned. The other wolf walked towards Enya. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to leave you..." her mother's voice was sweet - just like how Enya wanted to remember it. "Come back to me..." Enya felt herself stumbling forward at her mother's words. The wind caressed her face, suddenly making her aware of her surroundings. Enya eventually tore her eyes of the form of her mother and peered around. It was dark. She couldn't see anything. Nothing at all. Cautiously walking to the side, the ground underneath her paws began to crumble. "I told you to come here!" her mother's voice was angry now, all sweetness gone. No longer did she look beautiful and charming but instead was how Enya's true memories were - not the memories tainted with sweet desparation. Her mother's eyes were narrow and black, like her own, and scars mauled one side of her face. That was all Enya could see as she fell. It's sad but they're illegal here, in Australia =( The visions of her horrific mother slowly faded into pure blackness as Enya returned to the world. In a futile attempt to open her eyes, she found her eyelids heavy and her mind sluggish. A voice echoed in her head 'Are you okay?'. If she could have, Enya would have laughed. Of course she wasn't okay. Uncurling one paw from around Hesper's, prickly body she managed to extend one claw and write in the dirt 'No'. Then, protectively she recovered Hesper with her hand. She wasn't going to let anyone hurt him. She didn't know what sort of wolves had found her, she wasn't sure if she wanted to know... but it had been so long since she had interacted with another one, so long since she'd even seen another wolf. Her body was still racked with chills but she put all her effort into opening her coal, black eyes. Succeeding only when she was about to give up. What she saw was bliss. A real wolf. Someone with wide, violet eyes. The eyes weren't harsh, but friendly and concerned. Enya opened her mouth to try to speak but all that came out was the rasping sound that it had always been. Feebly, Enya attempted to stand but immediately fell straight back down to the ground. Attempting to yelp, again she rasped instead. She hadn't been able to howl or speak for months and still she tried. It had never been such a disability to be unable to speak, but then again this was the first wolf she'd tried to communicate with since her voice was lost. Frustrated Enya stretched out her paw again to write something more in the dirt, but she was too exhausted and fell back. All she was capable of doing was staring into the violet eyes. The eyes indicated she was safe, but she didn't feel safe. Enya felt worried. Here she was, helpless, in a strange place with strangers who she didn't know whether they intended to harm her or to accept her. Heart beating fast, her thoughts raced. She broke eye contact with the violet-eyed wolf and immediately felt herself beginning to calm down. Looking into other animal's eyes made her scared. Emotion in other's eyes made her feel like she was intruding and if she could see them then they could see through her eyes. They could see her past, her present and her future. The thoughts overwhelmed her and maintaining eye contact for too long scared her. Instead she kept her eyes low, so no one would see the raw emotion in them.
- Mati Church - 06-11-2010
awww, sad ;.;
Mati watched the stranger’s face. Her concern was deeply written in her tone and on her own features. The wolf looked little more then a pup, her body narrow and too slim to speak of good health. It worried her, and the Major had never been in this situation. It wasn’t a hard decision to make, and she made up her mind to try to carry the unconscious beast to the Manor. Then she stirred and Mati's eyes were so focused on the other’s eyes and face that she could not see the small movements that her paw made, and the little beast that she cradled.
Of course Mati could see that she was weak and likely starving. If her illnesses went deeper, or if her injuries were internal she hoped that the nameless female would be able to speak of them. But perhaps it was best if she didn’t try to speak. Her dark eyes looked up at the Church fey, and when she looked away and tried to stand Mati hastily gave a, Oh no, just stay still. She didn’t wish for the other to hurt herself in this weakened state.
This is Crimson Dreams, your safe here. Mati spoke with the soft voice she used to calm the tears of a pup. I’m Mati. She offered, hoping to make them acquaintances instead of strangers. There is a house not too far from here, it is where we all live.” Mati looked from the eyes that watched her and gazed down her bony body, I could carry you, we have a healer there. Mati thought of her young lover, and knew that the Marino woman would be able to help this wanderer. She knew the other must be frightened, but the young wolf had nothing to fear here. She had stumbled upon a place that would care for her. .Mati21 b {font-weight:bold; color:#e7e9e4; letter-spacing:.5px; } .Mati21ooc {font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#e7e9e4; text-align:right;} .Mati21 p {text-indent:0px; padding:7px 10px; margin:0px;} .Mati21 {margin:0 auto; width:327px; background-color:#c1d2d9; background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/ ... mati21.jpg); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #e7e9e4; padding: 0px 0px 165px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#657c86; letter-spacing:.3px; word-spacing:1px; line-height:12.5px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Enya - 06-12-2010
Grr... my computer ate my post and I had to start again which sorta killed my muse... 'This is Crimson Dreams, you're safe her.' Enya heard the violet-eyed wolf speak. Cromson Dreams... Safe place... Despite the other wolf's words, Enya felt chilly despite the fact that only moments ago she had felt like her body was on fire. She shuddered. The craving that had ravaged her stomach all night cramped and she doubled over, feeling Hesper's prickly body squirming as she closed in around him. Enya looked up and briefly met the wolf's violet eyes. 'The violet-eyed wolf'. Deleriously, Enya liked that name and felt a quick flash of disappointment when the violet-eyed wolf revealed her real name. Mati. Enya felt a flash of recognition at the name, but it was gone almost as soon as it came and settled to a nagging in the back of her mind. She didn't know where she had heard it before, but at that moment she didn't really care. Hesper, at that moment, managed to free himself from Enya's grasp. He barrelled himself towards Mati's legs softly bumping into them. He obviously didn't have the same fear of strangers as Enya. Hurredly Enya stretched out a paw and wrote again in the dirt, Don't hurt him! Please carry us to Crimzun Dreams. Enya didn't know what a healer was but she hoped that it was not someone that would hurt her. Suddenly, it occurred to Enya that it was possible that Mati did not know how to read. Enya didn't know how many wolves could read - she didn't know where her mother had learned. Quickly though her thoughts turned back to Hesper who was crouching staring up at Mati, just inches from Enya's grasp. Please, don't do anything stupid Hesper! she silently prayed.
- Mati Church - 06-12-2010
I'm PMing you ^^
A scurry of activity drew her eye away, and the other’s paw raked itself across the ground. She needed to lean towards the ground, the darkness of night and the uneven earth making it difficult to make out the letters. The brown wolfess tried to read the words and found that the two sentences made a bit of sense. She nodded, I wont. Mati figured that she meant the hedgehog, who she didn’t mind and actually had experience with.
The wolf looked at the small creature, You should hold onto her. the words came softly, finger pointing to the hurt female. It was not an odd friendship, or so Mati thought. Her own little friend was Ambrose, a shy and lazy hedgepig that lived in the comforts of her room and bed. Unsure exactly where she would take the fallen female Mati waited a moment for the little beast to climb aboard before the tall fey approached the nameless one. Don’t be frightened, its not far. The words were spoken as she eased her hands under her boney frame. She was weightless as Mati turned to head back to Haven Manor, her thoughts wondering what would cure this wanderers illness. Turning a bit optimistic Mati hoped that rest and a good meal would help, but she would leave that to someone that knew more then she did. .matipetals b {font-weight:bold; color:#f594a5; letter-spacing:1px; } .matipetalsooc {font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#8592a8; text-align:left;} .matipetals p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .matipetals {margin:0 auto; width:344px; background-color:#ece6e6; background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/ ... petals.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #8b85a8; padding: 100px 0px 5px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#8b85a8; letter-spacing:.3px; word-spacing:1px; line-height:12px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Enya - 06-13-2010
I think it's fixed... Enya breathed a sigh of relief as Mati said she wouldn't harm Hesper. Enya was still releaved though when Hesper returned to her. Soon after that, Mati lifted Enya up in a bundle. She clutched Hesper tightly as her feet left the ground. Her heart raced and her stomach flipped. Wolves were always meant to have something under their feet! Not being in control of where she was going made Enya feel helpless. She began to struggle, she had to get her feet back on the ground, even if it meant she had to drag herself all the way. Enya wasn't evan capable of communicating with Mati. How was she to tell the wolfess to put her down if she could not write on the ground. Desperately she opened her mouth and tried to speak, but as always all she could do was rasp. Tears came to her eyes as she was overwhelmed with sorrow. Self-pity. She wished she had a home. A family. Food. Water. Luxury. That's what she really craved for - luxury. Not power - no, definitely now power. Power meant having to have other animals to have power over. Enya was not exactly the most sociable wolf. Socialising meant having to understand and care about other's emotions. It meant having to be empathic - and usuallly other's expected you to look into their eyes. Enya wasn't comfortable with any of that - she would be contnet with just living a life of luxury. It was her dream. If she lived in luxury she would have all the food and all the water that she wanted. A home of her own... Enya stopped struggling and put her head back, closing her eyes and relaxing. She pictured the life she would live one day and of course, Hesper as well.
- Anu - 06-13-2010
