- Korva - 10-29-2010
Korva approached the border gingerly, and as she slowed to a halt she shook her right front paw in disgust, wincing as blood spattered from it. She had traveled much too long and too far, all to reach a pack she had merely heard rumors of. The pebbles embedded in the dirt on the journey here and the young tenderness of her paw pads had not been a pleasant combination, resulting in what the bloody mess of her feet were. The yearling sighed, taking a seat just outside the border, and wondered what she should do. Being still very youthful - not quite an adult yet but fully grown - she hadn't yet acquired the mental and social abilities to know how to act when she wanted to join a pack. The light brown-furred she-wolf paced just outside the border for a while and actually considered stepping in at some point, but in the end decided it was better to be safe than sorry. Raising her head, she let out a high-pitched, quiet howl, and came to a stop. She gazed into the desirable territory hopefully, her tongue lolling out of her mouth, panting anxiously. .korva-y38 .ooc {font-style:italic; } .korva-y38 p {padding:0px 20px 5px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .korva-y38 b {color:#8B390A; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .korva-y38 {background-color:#F8BC80; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/2010o ... table2.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:10px 0px 230px 0px; border:1px solid #8B390A; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#986533; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:425px; text-align:justify; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5px; } .korva-y38-border {width:427px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0 auto; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5x; box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -moz-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -webkit-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A;} </style>
- Dawali Amara - 10-30-2010
<style type="text/css">.dawaligifter b {font-weight:bold; color:#724826; letter-spacing:1px; }.dawaligifter-ooc {font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#978b89; text-align:left;} .dawaligifter p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 15px; margin:0px;}.dawaligifter {margin:0 auto; width:436px; background-color:#2f1a15; background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/ ... gift02.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #978b89; padding: 190px 0px 10px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#978b89; letter-spacing:.3px; word-spacing:.8px; line-height:12px; text-align:justify;}.dawaligifter-border1 {width:438px; border:1px solid #2d2921; margin:0 auto;}.dawaligifter-line1 {width:406px; border-bottom:1px dotted #724826; margin:0 auto 5px auto;}</style> Hi there, welcome! There were two tasks on which he focused his attention. Well, perhaps three. There were these patrols of the borders, tending the Great Fire, and maintaining his skills in the healing profession. Luckily, it was a rare thing to have someone approach him for his skills of that kind, and it had been a long time now since he had been called to handle an urgent situation. In the perfect world, his chosen profession was not needed, and so he considered this quiet to be a good thing. Perhaps it was the quiet before the storm, but he hoped not. Tending the Great Fire and patrolling their lands overlapped, seeing as he needed to travel anyways to find the particular firewood that shouldbe used. You couldn't just burn anything. Belle, his work horse of choice, carried a load of wood that he had already collected, but the two changed directions when the Chief heard a stranger's howl. Picking up the pace (because he hated to leave anyone waiting), his two russet legs carried him in long strides down the path, and soon he could smell a scent that stuck out from the others'. It was not difficult to find her, knowing he scent and having heard her howl, and she came into view as he approached the fences that marked their outside borders. One red-and-gray arm raised in greeting, he fastened the horse to the fence before stepping over and approaching her completely. Giving a polite smile, he spoke calmly, and his deep voice held no threats. "Greetings. I am the Chief of the tribe that claim the lands beyond that fence," he said, motioning vaguely behind himself towards where Belle stoor fastened. "You called for me?" - Korva - 10-30-2010
Hello there! Thank you (: Her nervous fidgeting didn't last long. As Korva saw him approaching, her pale lilac eyes shot down to the ground and her ears flattened. She didn't know his ranking, but his friendly yet powerful air made her feel belittled. She stayed on her side of the border, shying back a little, if anything. As he greeted the yearling, her suspicions were confirmed - he was the alpha, or Chief, as he said. She found it a bit odd that he had a horse, but she figured that it was probably normal to the pack... tribe, he called it? The Chief walked on two legs, and Korva wondered if perhaps she should shift to her humanoid form, but chose against it, knowing that being closer to the ground was the way to go. She looked at the browning grass, bloody beneath her sore paws, and felt a pang of distress. She looked at the Chief's horse as he spoke and gestured to the lands behind him. .korva-y38 .ooc {font-style:italic; } .korva-y38 p {padding:0px 20px 5px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .korva-y38 b {color:#8B390A; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .korva-y38 {background-color:#F8BC80; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/2010o ... table2.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:10px 0px 230px 0px; border:1px solid #8B390A; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#986533; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:425px; text-align:justify; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5px; } .korva-y38-border {width:427px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0 auto; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5x; box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -moz-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -webkit-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A;} </style>
- Dawali Amara - 10-30-2010
<style type="text/css">.dawaligifter b {font-weight:bold; color:#724826; letter-spacing:1px; }.dawaligifter-ooc {font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#978b89; text-align:left;} .dawaligifter p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 15px; margin:0px;}.dawaligifter {margin:0 auto; width:436px; background-color:#2f1a15; background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/ ... gift02.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #978b89; padding: 190px 0px 10px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#978b89; letter-spacing:.3px; word-spacing:.8px; line-height:12px; text-align:justify;}.dawaligifter-border1 {width:438px; border:1px solid #2d2921; margin:0 auto;}.dawaligifter-line1 {width:406px; border-bottom:1px dotted #724826; margin:0 auto 5px auto;}</style> :] They always behaved in one of two ways. Either they were confident and natural, but more often, they were nervous and fidgety, like this one. The Chief had grown accustomed to it, though in the beginning he had felt like it was his fault. But he had ransacked his own behavior to find clues, and could not find any. His posture was usually dominating, but never threatening, and he was always polite, so he had come to the conclusion that he could do nothing about it. Still, instinctively, his demeanor was often very kind when any stranger reacted towards him in the manner that this female did. - Korva - 11-01-2010 OOC here! His words seemed to almost will her body to calm down, and Korva took a deep, shaky breath. She wished for a moment that she could look at his eyes without being disrespectful - they were probably very soft and kind. He had a sort of relaxing voice, and he was extremely friendly. The yearling thought that she would really like a wolf like this as her alpha - Chief. Little bubbles of hope began to rise in her chest, and her shaking subsided to a steady quiver of happiness. However, all those little bubbles exploded and her heart dropped right out of her chest as the next question escaped the lips of the tribe's Chief. Skills? Korva had none. If her parents hadn't been so concerned about her late brother, they would have forbidden her from leaving because she was so inadequate for taking care of herself. .korva-y38 .ooc {font-style:italic; } .korva-y38 p {padding:0px 20px 5px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .korva-y38 b {color:#8B390A; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .korva-y38 {background-color:#F8BC80; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/2010o ... table2.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:10px 0px 230px 0px; border:1px solid #8B390A; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#986533; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:425px; text-align:justify; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5px; } .korva-y38-border {width:427px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0 auto; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5x; box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -moz-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -webkit-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A;} </style>
- Dawali Amara - 11-02-2010
<style type="text/css">.dawaligifter b {font-weight:bold; color:#724826; letter-spacing:1px; }.dawaligifter-ooc {font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#978b89; text-align:left;} .dawaligifter p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 15px; margin:0px;}.dawaligifter {margin:0 auto; width:436px; background-color:#2f1a15; background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/ ... gift02.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #978b89; padding: 190px 0px 10px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#978b89; letter-spacing:.3px; word-spacing:.8px; line-height:12px; text-align:justify;}.dawaligifter-border1 {width:438px; border:1px solid #2d2921; margin:0 auto;}.dawaligifter-line1 {width:406px; border-bottom:1px dotted #724826; margin:0 auto 5px auto;}</style> Beautiful avatar! At once she relaxed, and he nodded as if to himself, content with her reaction. It would do him no good if his tribesmembers feared him, and most unlearned the habit of cowering near him after a while in the tribe. While they certainly were subordinates, he saw no point in excerting the power when no power was needed. Korva had caused his tribe no harm or insult, and should not have to fear a thing even as she stood right alongside their borders. - Korva - 11-02-2010
Oh thanks xD It's not very much, haha. Dawali's words sounded like he was trying to convince her to come up with more. Thinking back on her words a bit, she knew that she did have a very negative outlook on herself. What was she good at? she had never much of anything to do to improve any of her skills. Still very young, Korva had her parents do almost everything for her because she had no talent in any of the skills that wolves normally had as well as she was always around trying to take care of her brother. Looking at the odd yellowish-green of the grass beneath her bloodied feet, the she-wolf thought long and hard about what she could actually do to contribute to anything. .korva-y38 .ooc {font-style:italic; } .korva-y38 p {padding:0px 20px 5px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .korva-y38 b {color:#8B390A; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .korva-y38 {background-color:#F8BC80; background-image:url(http://sleepyglow.net/souls/gifts/2010o ... table2.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:10px 0px 230px 0px; border:1px solid #8B390A; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#986533; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:425px; text-align:justify; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5px; } .korva-y38-border {width:427px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0 auto; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5x; box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -moz-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A; -webkit-box-shadow:3px 3px 4px #2A2A2A;} </style>
- Dawali Amara - 11-03-2010
<style type="text/css">.dawaligifter b {font-weight:bold; color:#724826; letter-spacing:1px; }.dawaligifter-ooc {font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#978b89; text-align:left;} .dawaligifter p {text-indent:0px; padding:5px 15px; margin:0px;}.dawaligifter {margin:0 auto; width:436px; background-color:#2f1a15; background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/ ... gift02.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #978b89; padding: 190px 0px 10px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#978b89; letter-spacing:.3px; word-spacing:.8px; line-height:12px; text-align:justify;}.dawaligifter-border1 {width:438px; border:1px solid #2d2921; margin:0 auto;}.dawaligifter-line1 {width:406px; border-bottom:1px dotted #724826; margin:0 auto 5px auto;}</style> Simple can be great sometimes, too One more post from you now and we're all set. Welcome! I'll request you titled up as a medicine woman She did come up with another answer, and Dawali smiled kindly, satisfied with it. While it was always great to find that someone who sought to be one of them already possessed considerable skill and required little training, it was almost as promising just to have someone with the right set of mind to be taught something useful. This one had already admitted that though she had tried, she had perhaps failed at her attempts at being a medic, but her second answer revealed that her heart was in the right place. As a Master medic himself, he knew very well that without the urge to help others, to care for them as a medic should, knowledge of that profession would be little than knowledge of plants and simple ointments. This Korva was perhaps discouraged, but the Chief was now convinced. "Taking care of others is half the job of a medic. What about this; you can come stay with us, and train alongside the other medicine women of the tribe. I believe you would make a decent one, regardless of what you think of your previous attempts." He spoke sincerely, and his gaze sought hers as he did so, never being one to believe that eye contact was a bad thing. And he hoped she would not attach too much importance to her previous experiences with herbs. After all, an unguided and untrained medic could only work through trial and error. - Korva - 11-03-2010
Yay! Thank you D Korva's lilac eyes filled up with hope as the words flowed out of the Chief's mouth. Stay here and train with the other medicine women? Become a part of the tribe? Grinning cheerfully, the yearling wagged her tail. She hadn't felt so complete or happy in a very long time. In fact, she didn't know if she had ever felt the feeling of accomplishment that welled up in her chest now. “Oh, thank you!” she cried, her joy seeping out of her voice. “I would absolutely love to do that.” She quieted down a bit, realizing that such a sudden outburst could be taken as slightly disrespectful. Welcome! I'll request you titled up as a medicine woman His own mouth split in a grin as Korva clearly displayed her happiness, and he nodded decisively. "Great!" Russet hands motioned vaguely towards her feet and he noticed her whimper as she glanced at them as well. They were hurt through tavel, but he saw no indication that they would not heal completely. Often, injuries that led to permanent damage looked different from these; a simple ointment and rest should do the trick, without doubt. "If you want, I can show you the village and we'll take a look at those paws of yours — they look like they need some attention." Smiling at her, Dawali knew that many leaders would not have extended such courtesy to a new face, and expected them to take care of it themselves, but he saw no point in delaying her recovery. Besides, he needed to stay on good terms with all his tribesmembers, and leaving them to themselves was not the right way to go about it. |
