Yes. C: ----------- wc: 500 :o so exact. xD The world was bright. The snow was blinding to weak, dark eyes. The underside of a bed was where the small puff of white spent the majority of her time. Like a beaten dog she feared the outside world. It was loud out there, people were big, strange, scary. They spoke of her like she was an alien, a monster who needed to be put down. Odette felt like an ant compared to them, her tiny body easily crushed under just a foot from one of them big wolves. They walked on two feet like her mama, why.....why did they do that? Her feet were little, she had four of them all the time. Odette could not sit up pretty like her mama could. It was.... strange. Her marooned pink eyes would watch in awe. Her brother and sister didn't seem to notice it as much as she did. Odette saw, she watched like she would never see it again. This world confused her. It scared her beyond belief. The blanket was her haven. Nothing could hurt her there. Her mama had been busy. Her scent wasn't as close as she liked it to be. The small pink nostrils flared from under the small piece of red fabric to try and find her blind. No, where was she? Where was mama? Odette's little white feet scraped at the floor to pull herself up. Her eyes were wide with a worry and curiosity she could not subside. She had to find her mother. Her voice let out a worried whine as she scanned around her. Her paws moved without thought. She had to find her. Pushing past familiar objects Odette blinded herself in the light of snow. It was new in the day, the sky blinding her. It was cold on her feet, pressure was barely an option under her pads. Her small curly tail dropped briefly as a scared whine emerged from her maw. "Mama?" Her weak voice called out in a bare whisper. There was no answer. The whine got louder, yet remained especially timid. "Mama! Where are you?" She could not smell her, she could not see her. Odette was alone. Alone was terrible. Alone was cold. Alone was scary. Being in the snow when she was little had damaged her nose. The bitter winds and demanding cold had bite at it, leaving it weak to smells. Odette did not know she could not smell very well, or why. She did not even know that she was adopted. To her, her brother and sister were just small. The difference did not computer with her little brain just yet. The curly tailed, white puppy was hidden from the world in the last month. She liked it that way. - Alaine Winters - 03-08-2011
Word Count → 5+ :: table © sie She had gradually been settling back into packlife, although it was incomparably different and more difficult now. The three children were not yet ostracized by the other puppies of that pack, but that was probably due to their young age. The Apothecary lived in an ever-present dread of the day when Elvira asked who her father was - It would always be Vira, for Eli was much too strange to think of such a concept requiring answers. Worse still, the woman feared for her little Odette, who had no father. She was Alaine's now, but had not been created by her womb, and thus would always be different.

The painted hallways, stairs, doors and even the walls were from time to time completely obscure to her. On some days the place was as if she had been born right under the very roof that held these walls in place. Then there was the later of days. The white bundle of fluff would find this place to be a page right out of hell. Every room a maze, every wall moving right before her very own dark hued eyes. Odette was yet to get used to this strange building. Her dreams here held phantoms she could barely remember. She did not even know a name, a face, who those people were. Yet they haunted her in innocent dreams. Plaguing her subconscious like a weed. Some nights were awkwardly, others were a fury of terror. It was not uncommon for a body and soul to find Odette hidden under a piece of furniture with her blanket whimpering like a whelp. The pup was a sad, sad sight. It was not even a thought to her simple little mind that she made her mother's life difficult. To Odette there was not much of a life outside of the room. Her brother and sister were here, she was here. What else did her mother need? For so long she had cradled the three of them against her, Odette never wanted that to end. However, where was her mama? Her mother was not here. Clad in her red cotton she looked left to right, right to left. No sight of cream and white anywhere. Odette whimpered as she dared to take another step towards that iron gate. One more step was taken before her body froze. White fluff on white powder caused her to near disappear. Odette did not like this vile blanket of cold. It bit at her skin, stung her nose and blinded her eyes. The thought of being cold as the white itself again taunted her. Never again did she want to be that cold. Faint padding, kicking of terrain and clicking of nails along frozen cobble caught the attention of the puppy and her head jolted straight ahead of her with wide eyes. It was a rush of fur and Odette felt her tail perk up in the familiar scent of the colliewoman. Her mama was back. Her name had been barked and she flinched with a frown upon her angel white maw. Her paws were the instant apple of her eye. Her body felt a cold prodding and she let her back arch into the cold pink much like a feline may attempt. "Mama, I woke up and....and you were gone. I didn't....." Her words were pathetic high pitched whimpers at this point. "I didn't know where you were mama. What if you were lost? I was so scared." Her body had been moved into the thick fur of her mothers belly and she felt her blanket fall to the floor. Odette immediately pawed at it to bunch it closer to her tiny body. The girl was not big, she had no knowledge of her dog heritage. To Odette she was exactly like her mother. They both had curly tails, they were the same. Alaine had been her mother since she could remember. That meant she was her mother. There was no 'but', there was no 'and'. It was as simple as fact to her petty brain. Her head was brought up to nuzzle into the fur of the collie with a soft smile now on the miniature maw. She was safe now. Her mother was home and in fact not lost. Everything would be alright now. "It's cold out, why did you come outside? The snow isn't fun to run around in." - Alaine Winters - 03-09-2011
Word Count → 5+ :: table © sie The concept of adoption was as simple to the woman as it was to the girl. The second she had lain eyes on the small white form, shivering in the snow, Odette had belonged to her. A blood connection was not necessary - Alaine had known it in the deepest parts of herself, the parts she reserved only for those she truly loved. She had claimed the girl in the memory of the daughter she had lost, and now the child was her own, different only from the other two in age and sire.

There was no direct memories she could relate to any day before. There were phantoms on her mind, ghosts in her dreams she could not explain. Fears that were uncalled for in the eyes of the public. To Odette this was normal. There was nothing else to her but who she was today. The last thing she needed was someone coming in and telling her that she was wrong, that she was not normal. Odette may or may not believe it. Either way the words would sting like acid and work her mind to the core. The last thing the pup needed was a complex. The mind of the white child was already warped enough for her early life to last her a decent part of her childhood. Everything was calming down now. The little pounding heart under white chest was slowing to a safe, steady beat now. The presence of her mother was enough to calm her. Smelling her and hearing her voice was enough to sooth her to sleep even in the snow. The long fur of her collie fell into her face, soothing... comforting. Odette found no problem with her leaving the hotel at this very moment because she had found her mother outside. Now if she had not shown up so quickly the pup may have gone into a fit of hysteria and panic. The large dog stood over her like a protective wall of warmth and fur. Her words spoke to her in the language she did not understand yet. She could not remember what she meant. Odette was not proud of herself for this. Her words then caused her to cringe in apology. "...I'm sorry mama. I was looking for you....I.... I didn't mean to not listen. Please don't be mad." She did not want to worry her mother. Her tiny heart pained when she heard she had upset her ever gracious mother. It was not her goal to worry her at all. The dog hybrid grabbed the red blanket in her mouth on command and was expecting to simply walk with it. No, that was not the plan. The scruff of her neck was tugged on and Odette felt her body go limp. Her legs dangled with no struggle and her loose skin stretched and bunched in every place atop her body. She said nothing. Odette would not object. She was carried inside and released upon the familiar floor to fall slightly off balance on her feet before taking a few steps back to her mother's stomach. Crouching under her for a silent moment the pup looked around. It was barely a minute before she slowly removed herself from her mother's underbelly. Crawling was near the word to use to describe her movements. Odette wanted to hide under her table again. She however would not. Her mother was home, she wanted to bask in her presence like she was god on earth. Light claws clinked on wood as she sat her small rump to the floor to watch Alaine move wood from satchel to fireplace. Odette still did not fully understand why her mother did what she did. Those two legs, the different body and face.... it was still her mama, but why was she so different like this? Would Vira and Eli be able to do that too? Would she? "Brother and sister are sleeping still, aren't they mama?" She did not dare go check in fear of being scolded. Alaine had never been harsh to her. Odette still feared. A floppy white ear was flicked with a twitch of her head and she watched her mother in awe. "How... do you do that? Make... fire, fire right?" - Alaine Winters - 03-12-2011
Word Count → 3+ :: http://soulsrpg.com/ipb/viewtopic.php?t=2&view=findpost&p=159495 >> go look c: The girl was obedient, almost to a fault. Alaine had never seen her stand up for herself before - Not even to her younger sister, who had taken often to chewing on the ends of the girl's dainty white ears. The mother liked to think it was because of her daughter's naturally docile mannerisms, but in truth, she was relatively sure it was a lasting effect from her birth-mother. That, and the nervousness she constantly attributed to the child - an anxious fear of everything unknown, of everything changing. It worried Alaine greatly, the thought that her daughter may not be able to adapt. What would happen if, one day, Alaine was not there to protect her? What would happen to her darling Odette then?

<style type="text/css"><3 -loves on alaine- Odette was unaware of so much around her. Despite being such a young puppy and her brain was still getting used to and absorbing information. Despite her age Odette was unaware that she was less attentive than other puppies. She did not know it wasn't normal to hide and to cry when alone at the rate she did. It didn't even occur to her that she may be different than the other puppies for even half an instant. It would not occur to Odette that she looked different from, was bigger and older than as well as thought differently than her siblings. When the day came that the realization hit the young mind. The entire universe would be turned upside down and thrown across the room to hit the wall and crack.
Odette liked the time she got with her mother while her siblings were asleep. The attention of the affectionate woman only on her for short times calmed the puppy. It even put her to sleep from time to time when she simply felt at a definite ease. However Odette was not ready to fall asleep yet. She had her nap already, her next would not be for a few hours. .odette-x01 b {font-weight:bold; color:#000000; letter-spacing:1px; } .odette-x01 .ooc { font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family:verdana, sans-serif; font-size:11px;} .odette-x01 .wc {text-transform: uppercase; font-weight:bold;} .odette-x01 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .odette-x01 {margin:0px auto; width:450px; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b47 ... tte1-2.png); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 10px 0px 20px 0px; font-family: veranda, sans-serif; font-size:12px; color:#111111; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.5px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Alaine Winters - 03-15-2011
Word Count → 3+ :: ilu too, kels <3 here, have some crazy pagan-Alaine religion! The little girl took a few attempts to pronounce the word correctly, but was soon successful, and Alaine crooned happily to hear the sounds of her ancient language, the language of Morrigan, come from such a sweet young voice. "Yes, that is it. Very good, Odette! Go maith!" Of all the pups, Odette was the most fluent in any speech, although that obviously had a lot more to do with age than skill. Elvira had only just begun stringing words together to form sentences, and Eli... Well, sometimes she doubted whether her son would ever speak.

<style type="text/css">Oh why thank you Odette was very proud that her mother was showing signs of approval in her efforts to try and remember, let alone get it remotely right, in everything that involved this strange language to her. Her mother said that it was very important to her and very old, but anything beyond that didn't yet stick to the young mind of the ivory child. "Thank you, Mama." Her thoughts wandered to whether or not her brother and sister would be better at this than she was. Were other puppies more keen on learning than she was? The thought caused her to subconsciously whimper and let her maw sink further into the thigh fur of the golden collie.

It was knowing - It was everything around her that Dea and her kin had created. But to Odette, the concept was new and fresh. The Apothecary delighted in seeing the way her daughter's eyes shone at the thought of it. "In all things," She nodded her affirmation, gentle smile growing about pixie maw as her emerald eyes flickered with gold lights from the dancing flames, "In the air, the earth. In the mice and the snake, in the bird on wing. In the whisper of the wind," She lifted one hand to poke gently at the little puppy, "In you and in me."
