- Amy Sunders - 01-18-2012 [html] OOC Word Count → 000 Finding the castle had been a lucky find for Amy. Hearing about the merchants that were coming through, Amy had stormed on a rampage, killing everything she found. It was easy to follow her path, with broken branches and dying animals in her wake. Hadley was curled up in the back of the wagon, shaking with fright. Amy had taken her rage out on the hybrid before, and she wasn't above doing it again. It was pure luck that he'd escaped her so far.

Their art, architecture, electricity, customs, machinery; all of it provoked endless curiosity within the lithe Italian. There were many beautiful buildings in Sabini, though many had fallen into ruin. The buildings were beautiful, but beauty decayed much more quickly than something built for the sole purpose of enduring. This particular castle, built almost entirely of black stone, was unusual for him. It was solid and sturdy, too; perhaps Jazper would be interested in obtaining it. It would be an upgrade from the courthouse. Sebastian had been travelling when he'd found the castle. He carried his usual supplies- his bow and quiver of arrows slung across his back and his satchel hanging on his shoulder. In it he had his wine, spare jeans, artistic supplies and his garrotte. Daggers were safe in his pockets. He'd also chosen to wear his black leather jacket on this particular cold day. He wandered around the castle, breaking the glass on whichever displays he wanted to examine more closely. Nothing was especially interesting to him, though he did find a rather pretty golden ring and a small bronze gear that seemed rather out of place. He pocketed both items shamelessly. Eventually he came to the courtyard and peered at the sky, frowning. He could see smoke issuing from one part of the castle. Maybe he had company. And the company was an arsonist. Well, arsonists were people too, and Sebastian resolved to check it out. A few minutes later, Sebastian was peering around a doorway that lacked a door. A woman was seated there, somewhat visible from the firelight. Pretty enough, but from what illumination the fire offered in the dank castle, she appeared unremarkable. Sebastian smiled charmingly. "Hello, Madonna." - Amy Sunders - 01-22-2012 [html] OOC here. Word Count → 000 A voice came from behind her. Twisting Amy looked at a red wolf, wearing a leather jacket. He was carrying a fair bit of supplies, making her wonder if he was a loner. The smell of other wolves was there though, if much more faint. He was probably newly joined, and not yet used to it. He looked fairly well off, and comfortable inside the castle. A mark of a European traveler by any means. She smiled and waved for him to join her. Hello. I hope you've brought some alcohol, or this will be a very long night. Pregnant or not, Amy wasn't going to stop drinking. She'd already stopped using her secui form to kill other canines. Taking drinking away might be the end of her.

Well, that didn't matter much. Sebastian was one too, and the worst thing that could happen was the wine running out. Two bottles should be plenty, though. Sebastian didn't answer, as she immediately let out a sharp bark, calling her... servant, maybe? Perhaps a particularly spineless friend or brother? Hopefully he wasn't a slave. Whatever he was, the rugged hybrid quickly left to fetch more meat to add to the amount the woman was already cooking. So he probably wasn't a slave; there was no reason why the woman would cook her own meals if a slave could do it for her. "Indeed, Madonna. What else is there to drink on cold nights?" Sebastian took a seat on one of the furs lying across the ground, a few feet from the taller woman. God, everyone was taller than him in this place. By at least half a foot, if he were lucky. The Italian rummaged inside his satchel for a few moments and withdrew a decently sized bottle of red wine. He uncorked it and took a sip before he set it on the ground next to the blonde. "A nice vintage," he remarked, leaning back and lying down to prop himself up on one elbow. "I am simply exploring. Humans have always interested me, especially their architecture and artwork." Sebastian made a sweeping gesture around the room. The castle wasn't personally to his taste, but it was a fine building. Some tasteful marble instead of dark stone would have made a world of difference. "I am Sebastian Auditore, of Casa di Cavalieri." Sebastian dipped his head politely. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance." He paused for a moment, saffron eyes gazing at the passageway that the male wolfdog had gone down. "May I know your name, and that of your friend?" Though he was polite, Sebastian was generally more interested in those he had a possibility of sleeping with. - Amy Sunders - 01-22-2012 [html] OOC here. Word Count → 000 Using a slave for every little thing was not Amy's style. Hadley did provide breakfast, but mostly she used him for physical labor and as an assistant selling her wares. She didn't trust him not to break things, and enjoyed interacting with people directly. It had given her an odd reputation in Europe, people gossiping about her slaves being some of the most spoiled around. The slaves knew the truth though. Belonging to Amy meant hard work, little rest, and occasionally being tortured just to keep her entertained. Amy did whatever she wished with them, though on this occasion Amy was in enough of a rage that she was doing labor herself, trying to work through her frustration.

She immediately chugged down a gulp of the wine without a word of thanks, but more importantly, she seemed to know of his family. Was she a European trader, maybe? She repeated his words, making him wonder idly if she was mocking him. It didn't particularly matter. He made no extra mention of his family just yet, as Amy kept talking. So the male hybrid was likely a slave. Unless she was in the habit of regularly insulting her companions. Sebastian caught the implication in her tone and gazed to the ceiling for a moment, weighing up his options. He could sleep with Hadley, though he wouldn't if the rugged man didn't want to. Still, he wouldn't put it past Amy to force Hadley to say yes. Sebastian returned his gaze to the tall woman, analysing her. "He is very handsome," Sebastian said breezily. "And with any luck, my particular branch of the family isn't quite so wealthy any longer." A sharp smirk lifted his black lips for a moment as he reached over and took a deep drink from the bottle. - Amy Sunders - 01-22-2012 [html] OOC Word Count → 000 His words confirmed her suspicions, bringing a slight smirk to her lips as she took another drink. Amy was feeling a little better now, but that just might be the alcohol talking, giving her a slight buzz as she took another sip. Idly she listened to her chatter, and snorted with derision. Wouldn't much matter either way now, would it? We'd just find someone else to take over their job. The old families were preferable, as they had the strongest bonds to her family, but a new one could be found as well. It would just be more unstable, take more work. Then things would even out, and the family would cease to exist, rewritten.

Everyone was replaceable. Everyone and everything could be replaced. Especially when it came to immensely boring things like business and politics in big cities. Creativity, passion, drive... Those things were rarer, more defining. Of course, there was always someone better. Sebastian wished he had paid more attention to his parents when they had taught him about the other powerful families and individuals. He couldn't recall hearing the name Sunders anywhere. Then again, maybe she was just an individual. An enterprising individual who was disturbingly knowledgeable. The burly hybrid returned, tossing some meat onto the fire before Amy pulled him down beside her. Sebastian licked his lips, his eyes travelling up and down Hadley's muscular, scarred body. He wasn't so preoccupied with ogling Hadley that he missed his nervous manner and his frightened eyes when Amy stroked his scars. Scars that she had likely inflicted, judging from his obvious fear. "Your slave." It wasn't a question. Sebastian vehemently opposed slavery, but he was also curious. Now he had a chance to ask a question that had always bothered him when he contemplated such matters. "If I may be so bold," he continued airily, "Why hasn't Hadley killed you in your sleep yet, or something similar? I never understood why slaves never did that." Truly, it puzzled him. Fear was certainly a factor, but still. It confused him. - Amy Sunders - 01-22-2012 [html] OOC Word Count → 000 Amy nodded her head wearily at his words. She took another deep drink, letting it wash through her in a wave of a buzz. Of course he was her slave. There wasn't anything else he could be. There was no way Amy would keep a mate that was so timid, and she didn't really have any friends, only allies who would be only so willing to stab her in the back given a chance. It was a bit lonely, but it was something Amy no longer realized, having experienced nothing else. It allowed her to be as hard as ice, the death merchant, the demon in disguise.

He glanced at Hadley, wondering if this was normal behaviour for the blonde woman. The burly hybrid seemed wholly unconcerned, placidly preparing the meat on the fire. Perhaps Amy was simply prone to sudden bursts of laughter. If Sebastian had owned a watch, he would have been staring at it. When her gales of laughter had finally subsided, Sebastian looked right back into her eyes calmly. His saffron gaze was strong, steady, unafraid. The Italian feared no one, though he certainly should. While she spoke, Sebastian decided he didn't really like Amy. She was rather dramatic and moody, and he didn't appreciate the look she was giving him. He kept his face unreadable as he spoke. "I have," he stated simply, choosing not to elaborate. "But that does not answer my question. Hadley, perhaps you can explain?" he shifted his gaze to the scarred slave with interest, fully aware that this might offend Miss Sunders. Whatever. His weapons were in easy reach, and he was confident he had the advantage of speed over both Amy and Hadley if either proved violent. Judging from Amy's sudden mood swing, violence was a possibility. - Amy Sunders - 01-23-2012 [html] OOC Word Count → 000 Amy straightened up, snarling at Hadley. The slave pulled the meat off, dividing it onto two plates. Pleased she passed him a choice bit before dismissing him into the background. Amy grabbed a piece and chewed it slowly, eyes half closed. The small wolf's answer was slightly surprising, as he didn't seem to be as cold as those who could lay claim to such things. It would make her explanation more difficult as well. She finished her piece and turned back to him.

Perhaps he was mute. Or, more likely, he was simply afraid of Amy or not permitted to speak. As the slaver spoke, Sebastian debated whether he should kill her or not. He took the plate of meat as it was offered, thanking Amy quietly and looking to where Hadley lingered in the background, uttering soft thanks to him as well. Slaves deserved to be be freed. Failing that, they should be treated with respect and dignity. He strongly doubted that Amy had ever uttered a truly kind word to Hadley, or anyone. He inclined his head, brooding. "True," he said peacefully, taking a bite of the meat. It was quite good, rare and juicy, if unseasoned. "But desperation in the heat of the moment can lead a man to do terrible things. It doesn't have to be premeditated. Especially if he is justified, or believes he is." His saffron eyes flickered to Hadley's bulky figure in the background. "All it takes is one bad day to send the most reasonable of men to insanity. A slave..." He paused for a moment, his thoughtful gaze on the window. "It would require quite a good judge of character to be sure that a slave would not kill his master. Even then, all it takes is for their will to resurface for just a moment, if their situation is desperate enough, or their will is strong enough. They snap." Sebastian tore into the meat with relish, the blood staining the white fur on his muzzle, running down to his neck and chest. "Such cases tend to end with one of them lying on the ground, mutilated beyond recognition. I've witnessed the aftermath of one such case. The slave in question had served the Aquilina for years, rowing their gondolas across Venezia. All it took was one strike with an oar." Sebastian shrugged, inwardly delighted to be telling horror stories once more- even if the stories in question were not especially horrific. "Well, one strike was all it took. Judging from the body, quite a few more were inflicted." Sebastian took a delicate nibble of the steak, eyes running appreciatively across Hadley for a few seconds before returning to Amy. "Have you ever witnessed such an occurrence?" he asked cheerfully, completely unperturbed by the fate of that unlucky Aquilina member. - Amy Sunders - 01-23-2012 [html] OOC Word Count → 000 Amy listened, her interest in the conversation waning. The truth was when it came to slaves Amy was one of the best. This wasn't because of any actual work she put into it, just her natural tendencies and talent coming into play. Those around her always knew where they stood with her, and Hadley knew his place quite well. Amy wasn't concerned with pushing him too far, as the care for her slaves was quite good on some levels. Depending on what they were for the punishments were different. An artist would never be beaten or scarred, though keeping them from sleep and withholding food could be used. A singer was always fed extremely well, though their legs might be broken. Each one kept in optimum condition for their work. Such was the case with Hadley. She never outright insulted him, and always kept him well fed and rested. His punishments were purely physical, as were the rewards.

Which he was, in a sense. He was outlining just how easy it would be for Hadley to murder her as she slept. He watched with interest as Amy gave Hadley her short sword, seeing how easily he could lunge forward, slash downwards and end Amy's life. But he didn't. He simply started to clean the blade in an impressively spineless fashion. He continued watching as Amy reclaimed her sword, picked up the bottle and ambled away to her shelter, whatever that might be, encouraging Sebastian and Hadley to have fun. Well. That was unexpected. Sebastian glanced up at the darkly-coloured, rugged hybrid, motioning for him to come closer to the Italian. "Sit down, Hadley," he invited, patting the fur he himself was sitting on. His eyes travelled up to Hadley's face- it was soft, gentle, with fearful eyes. "Amy's not very nice. Why haven't you killed her?" Sebastian distrusted Amy. He wanted to hear it from Hadley himself. Why are you such a fool, Hadley? And why am I such a sucker for men in distress? - Amy Sunders - 01-23-2012 [html] OOC here. Word Count → 000 Amy settled into her wagon, nursing the bottle of alcohol that she had. The thought that one of her slaves would kill her was just too laughable. She'd proven that fact, but Amy doubted he'd believe her. Now it was up to Hadley to do the rest. In fact, if she got really lucky, Sebastian might just purchase Hadley to 'free' him. That would be nice. Really nice. She took another long drink and pulled the blankets around her. She still needed a battle plan for dealing with the intruding merchants. It would have to be very clever, and very carefully done.

Too afraid. Sebastian had a sudden urge to notch an arrow and shoot Amy until she resembled a porcupine. But the Italian had not killed another Luperci in his life. He'd broken bones, deliberately caused agony; but never taken a life. Still, he thought it would be easy. Sebastian watched carefully as Hadley sat down close beside him, his saffron gaze fixed on the hybrid's deep brown eyes. It was sad. He couldn't bring himself to kill Amy, instead choosing life as a slave. Was that life worth living? No doubt Hadley only forced himself through each day with the hope that Amy would die, or free him. Both days seemed far off. The Italian'a eyes returned to the flickering fire, the light casting a lustrous sheen over his silky fur, fine and soft even in the winter. His head turned to Hadley once more as the timid slave started a question and trailed off meekly, a shot of indignation at his treatment coursing through Sebastian's veins. Why shouldn't he buy Hadley? That was quite a good idea, actually. Buy him and set him free. Not immediately, of course. Sebastian's paranoid streak insisted that Hadley would return to Amy or she would take him back. Forcibly. But buy him as Sebastian's slave, keep him in Casa di Cavalieri, rehabilitate him... Yes, it could work. He could be taught how to fight, just in case Amy tried to retake him. Teach him how to overcome his fears in case Amy manipulated him. Abruptly realising he hadn't responded to Hadley in a few seconds, Sebastian quickly glanced up at Hadley and back to his satchel. "Meat?" he asked, puzzled. Then it struck him. Hadley clearly wasn't starving, but pleasures were rarely offered to slaves. "Or wine?" Sebastian rummaged inside his satchel and pulled out another bottle, uncorking it and passing the whole thing to Hadley. The artisan had to keep his wits about him. "Drink all you want," he encouraged, shifting a little closer to the taller male, letting their arms touch. He wouldn't sleep with Hadley unless he wanted it, but it would be a nice bonus for freeing him. Hopefully. - Amy Sunders - 01-23-2012 [html] OOC here. Word Count → 000 Killing the merchants was out of the question. There were too many, and even working as an assassin it would take too long, they might find her long before then. Rerouting them would be impossible as well. Amy didn't know the route they were taking, and the news had spread far enough that it was clear they knew where they would be setting up the festival. Keeping the canines away from it would be difficult as well, with some slipping in. That could reflect badly on her as well. Perhaps there was another way? One to turn them to her...

His muscular body felt warm, strong, safe. At the back of his mind, Sebastian regretted wearing the black jacket. Hadley was sweet and could hold his alcohol, as he drained half the bottle without much effort. The artisan raised his eyebrows, impressed. Wine should be savoured, but he wasn't going to berate Hadley. The slave likely had enough of that with Amy. The Italian's eyes were cast downwards as Hadley spoke. Perhaps that was his way of professing his attraction to Sebastian. Or more likely, perhaps it simply meant that he didn't want to be a slave. Right then, with Sebastian, Hadley wasn't being treated like a slave. He was just another person that Sebastian was possibly developing a crush on. An equal. Hadley reached over and tugged on his ear. Though he was surprised at first, a low chuckle rumbled in Sebastian's chest at the ticklish feeling and endearing behaviour. He flicked the ear playfully, smiling warmly at Hadley. "You can touch me if you want to, Hadley." Sebastian raised a slender, strong hand, gently placing it on the rugged hybrid's chest. His saffron eyes wandered over the slash scars on his chest and the firelight that played on the massive scab on his left arm. Had he been flayed? "She has hurt you," he said softly, the crackling fire almost drowning out his words. Sebastian's eyes turned sad again. Almost nostalgic. Like Hadley, Sebastian never wanted good moments to end. He feared growing up. Getting old. Dying. He wanted to be young forever, never leaving the good times. Sebastian dropped his hand, resting it on Hadley's leg for a moment before he took it back. The Italian sat up, hunched over his legs that he had drawn up to his chest. "You know, Hadley.." he began, his voice soft. "I could buy you from her. Make sure you are safe from her. Set you free. Let you live your life as you did before she appeared." And kill her if she ever came for you. How long had Hadley been her slave? For far too long, in any case. Sebastian's gentle eyes rose back to Hadley's, pleading with him. "Let me help you, Hadley." Sebastian was too altruistic at the best of times. He might be mean or selfish on occasion, but when he did want to help, he always gave too much. Now it was a good thing. For Hadley, at least. The foxy male reached up and rested his hand on the wolfdog's strong shoulder, gently. - Amy Sunders - 01-24-2012 [html] OOC Word Count → 000 That was it! Excitedly Amy sat up in the wagon. The problem with the previous problems was that it made them look good and her look bad. What Amy needed to do was reverse that. How? Advertise the fact that she was local, willing to travel, and sell below price. That part would be painful, as it screamed against every part of her training that she had. Her items were top quality after all. It did guarantee building solid relationships with pack members though, and would strengthen her trade reputation greatly. As long as she put in a good showing at the festival life would be good. Pleased with her plan Amy sipped from the bottle, her rage finally dissipating.

How long had he been a slave? Since childhood, maybe? Or perhaps Amy was just that bad. Perhaps he suffered from amnesia. Who knew? Sebastian couldn't respond, his heart so full of emotion that his throat had seized up a little. Hadley smiled his sweet smile, leaned closer to the Italian and kissed him. For a moment, Sebastian was too shocked to understand what had happened. But still he reacted automatically, his muzzle opening and his tongue slipping out. This was no simple, unconditional kiss; Sebastian knew the intention and responded lustily. He let out a low moan, closing his eyes and losing himself to the sensation. The artisan didn't break the kiss as he moved, keeping his lips pressed against Hadley's and tasting the hybrid's hot mouth as he shifted over so that he was on his knees in front of the wolfdog. Sebastian kept up the kiss, refusing to let himself think as he unzipped his jacket with one hand. He kept the other on the back of Hadley's head, keeping the pair connected. His knee pressed between Hadley's legs as he stripped off his jacket and caressed Hadley's teeth and tongue with his own. Once he was clad in only his jeans, Sebastian broke the kiss. He kept one arm resting gently on the back of Hadley's head, slowly running through his thick fur. The other was gently massaging the rugged slave's abdomen. Sebastian looked a little wilder than he had a few moments ago. Still a paragon of aristocratic, clean-cut beauty, his fur was somewhat puffier, giving him a slightly more feral look. His eyes shone, though his back was now to the fire. "H-Hadley," he breathed softly, moving closer to kiss the hybrid's neck gently. No-one could say Sebastian didn't do whatever he could to please his lover. "How about for tonight..." he gently nipped his shoulder. "You can be the master. You can do anything you want with me." He pulled Hadley's head closer, growling into his ear. "Anything." A low, rough, lusty growl rumbled in Sebastian's chest, a growl of desire. |
