- Hadley - 02-28-2012
OOC here! Hadley had finished making the crude stool for Grace. Carefully he sat down on it, and it managed to support his weight. Relieved he placed it inside her house, smiling quietly at the fact that he'd managed to make something of his own. It wasn't very good, but it was useable. He moved out of the house quietly, walking over to check on the horses. They nickered softly at his presence, already getting used to the large male's silent presence. He walked through, making sure they were all good, before leaving and looking for some wood to carve. Hadley wasn't an artist by any means, but seeing the carving that the male had made yesterday made him want to try doing that. He carved into the wood roughly before becoming unsatisfied at the lack of evenness. It wouldn't satisfy anyone as art. Tossing it away Hadley hunted around for another piece, deciding to stick with more practical creations. It took some time, but he found a nice thick piece of wood that he could carve into a dish. Carefully Hadley cut away the sides, and began to hollow out the center, still leaving large chunks that could bump someone. .hadley2 .ft-ooc {font-style:italic;} .hadley2 p {padding:3px 20px 3px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .hadley2 b {color:#ff0000; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .hadley2 {background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3590/2 ... 0914m3.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:370px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:400px; text-align:justify; } .hadley2-border {width:402px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0px auto; } .hadley2 .ft-separator{width:250px; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; margin:0px auto;} </style>
- Claudius Aston - 03-26-2012

Claudius did not often venture near the stables out of his fear of the horses. But today, he happened to be passing nearby – as far away from the horses as possible, of course – and saw an unknown face working with something in his hands. Like the dog, Claudius was walking on two feet and had a leather bag slung over his shoulder containing various craftsman tools. Claudius also did not normally approach strangers, but loyalty to his tribe demanded it once he caught the dog’s scent. He was not of the tribe, though he smelled as though he had been in their borders for some time.
- Hadley - 03-27-2012
OOC here! A soft bark grabbed Hadley's attention. The shy hybrid glanced up, carefully putting his work aside. The center had a decent sized dent in it now, though it by no means looked like a bowl of any kind. Respectfully Hadley flattened his ears, adopting an appropriately submissive pose. Well, appropriate for him. Anyone watching would think that the wolf that was nearby had threatened to harm him in some way by the low pose that Hadley had taken on, looking like he was begging for forgiveness for what he was doing instead of simply being polite. The question had him pause for a moment, considering how to answer it. He didn't want to shed a poor light on Grace after rescuing him, but he wasn't sure how to answer without appearing like a slave either. I'm from Casa di Cavalieri. I came...to be free. His words were quiet, doing his best to be respectful of the stuttering wolf. Hadley didn't react to the stutter at all, having had one himself sometimes when he grew too fearful and was forced to talk, causing his words to stumble across each other as he tried to do something he wasn't used to doing at all. .hadley2 .ft-ooc {font-style:italic;} .hadley2 p {padding:3px 20px 3px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .hadley2 b {color:#ff0000; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .hadley2 {background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3590/2 ... 0914m3.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:370px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:400px; text-align:justify; } .hadley2-border {width:402px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0px auto; } .hadley2 .ft-separator{width:250px; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; margin:0px auto;} </style>
- Claudius Aston - 03-28-2012 Since Claudius is super traditional, he thinks Hadley's amount of submission is a-okay. 8D He's such a stuffy little bat lol.

Claudius was glad to see the stranger react so quickly and appreciated the show of submission. Even though it was decidedly tougher to streamline dominance in the optime form, Claudius recognized his superior position and quickly raised his tail and perked his ears forward. The dog did not seem to pose a threat, since his submission was quick and absolute.
- Hadley - 03-29-2012
OOC here! The wolf accepted his submission, taking on a dominant stance. Relieved Hadley kept himself low, waiting to be told it was alright. Signaled to stand he did so, doing his best to appear smaller than the wolf before him, despite his rather large size. Hands behind his back Hadley glanced down to his dropped knife, the partially carved bowl still in his hands. Hopefully he'd be able to finish that soon, so Grace would have another small gift from him as thanks instead of just the stool. Tilting his head Hadley considered the question. It was hard for him to think about, wondering if he had been free or not. Was slave, worked for Sebastian. No pain, allowed to wander. Came...so I can be properly free. Not fear taking mate. Shy he ducked his head. The worry of Selene being hurt for choosing to fraternize with a slave had plagued him for so long. It wouldn't any longer, the worry taken away from him. .hadley2 .ft-ooc {font-style:italic;} .hadley2 p {padding:3px 20px 3px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .hadley2 b {color:#ff0000; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .hadley2 {background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3590/2 ... 0914m3.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:370px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:400px; text-align:justify; } .hadley2-border {width:402px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0px auto; } .hadley2 .ft-separator{width:250px; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; margin:0px auto;} </style>
- Claudius Aston - 03-29-2012 WC: 311

Claudius wrinkled his muzzle as the dog spoke in a feeble attempt to sort out what he was saying. If he had been allowed to wander and felt no pain, was he truly a slave? Yes, of course he was. Claudius was struck with the suddenness of this thought, for he had not expected to experience such a strong reaction. Losing some of his freedoms had brought him to the point of collapse and if he had not already experienced a severe bout of depression lasting many months, he would have thought it was the worst experience of his life. It had not been, but it could have been much worse. The dog had his sympathy and still, his curiosity.
- Hadley - 03-30-2012
OOC here! Hadley didn't know what the wolf was thinking, just hoping that it wasn't anything bad that could lead to him being harmed. He was very unsure of himself, knowing that a canine could whip around from pleasant enough to willing to tear his throat out from a single mistake. He had seen it happen to others, the image sending a chill down his spine. Remaining submissive was the key. Asked what he was making Hadley looked down at the partially made bowl in his hand. Oh... He'd forgotten that he was even holding that. Embarrassed Hadley lifted it up, hand running over the rough nature inside. He must not have been thinking properly, believing that Grace would appreciate such an ugly item. It's-um...w-was...a bowl. Blushing Hadley held it out so the wolf could examine his rough attempt at making something useful. His work with the stool had been much better, simply making three pieces of wood all the same size and attaching something one could sit on on top. .hadley2 .ft-ooc {font-style:italic;} .hadley2 p {padding:3px 20px 3px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .hadley2 b {color:#ff0000; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .hadley2 {background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3590/2 ... 0914m3.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:370px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:400px; text-align:justify; } .hadley2-border {width:402px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0px auto; } .hadley2 .ft-separator{width:250px; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; margin:0px auto;} </style>
- Claudius Aston - 03-30-2012 Hadley and Claudius are like two peas in a pod

The dog seemed more fearful than Claudius was. The thought of this, that there was someone out there worse than him, struck Claudius with a sense of cold satisfaction. He had never met anyone like this, so he almost enjoyed it. But the thought was fleeting and he felt a moment of unease knowing that he could take pleasure in someone’s pain. That wasn’t right at all and that was everything he had sworn he wouldn’t do. He was a good wolf; now he just needed to prove it.
- Hadley - 03-30-2012
OOC i know, been laughing my head off at how similar they are The wolf's attention was completely focused on the bowl, taking the pressure off of Hadley. He wasn't being noticed, which was always a good thing. It was always safer when he wasn't being scrutinized. A hand reached out to touch the bowl, Hadley simply standing and acting as something simply to hold the bowl so the tribe member could look at it. The hand fell away, and Hadley was brought back to the wolf's attention, unfortunately. The voice was encouraging. Apparently the wolf didn't think it was as bad as Hadley felt it was. A small smile flitted on his lips as he shifted it around in his eyes. Took a b-block...piece of wood...big chunk...a-and made it round... It really wasn't very round, with the bumps settling along on the outside, but an attempt of a roundish shape could definitely be seen. Um...took knife and chipped at inside...to make hollow. He hadn't finished that part yet, as slow as he was. .hadley2 .ft-ooc {font-style:italic;} .hadley2 p {padding:3px 20px 3px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .hadley2 b {color:#ff0000; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .hadley2 {background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3590/2 ... 0914m3.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:370px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:400px; text-align:justify; } .hadley2-border {width:402px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0px auto; } .hadley2 .ft-separator{width:250px; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; margin:0px auto;} </style>
- Claudius Aston - 03-31-2012

Claudius frowned in concentration as the dog explained his working process. It made sense, though, he wondered if there was an easier way to do it. Carving that huge space out of the large chunk of wood sounded like a lot of work. But he wasn't sure how else one could make a bowl out of wood, unless they found a piece of wood already in that shape. He supposed it would be possible to bend the wood by soaking it in water for a day or two, but that wouldn't work with a thick piece of wood. Plus, it wasn't like he could weave a basket-type bowl; then everything would just drain out.
- Hadley - 03-31-2012
OOC i actually watched a video about carving bowls after reading your post XD A frown formed on the wolf's face at his words, making Hadley increasingly nervous. He wasn't exactly the best at this work, having just begun learning how it was done. Looking down at his work Hadley could easily find lots of things to criticize, from the rough bumps to his speed to the fact that maybe the wood wasn't the right type, as he'd merely gone and picked up the first wooden piece that looked like it could be turned into a bowl. It didn't seem so bad as the male hummed with his examination. It didn't sound like a bad hum. More like the one of someone who was thinking about things, planning stuff out. Actually, that didn't sound good. Hadley didn't particularly like the idea of something being planned that he didn't know about, surprises for him usually resulting in a new scar of some sort. Taking the bowl back Hadley listened respectfully to the instructions. Curiously Hadley looked at the dropped knife. There was a certain kind that needed to be used for this? Patiently he waited, hoping that it would go better with the wolf's help. .hadley2 .ft-ooc {font-style:italic;} .hadley2 p {padding:3px 20px 3px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .hadley2 b {color:#ff0000; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .hadley2 {background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3590/2 ... 0914m3.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:370px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:400px; text-align:justify; } .hadley2-border {width:402px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0px auto; } .hadley2 .ft-separator{width:250px; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; margin:0px auto;} </style>
- Claudius Aston - 03-31-2012 I looked some up, but they all used drills. :l I found one that didn't and it was just a chisel + a hammer ahah. :> Let me know if I get anything wrong!

The dog didn’t say anything, and for a moment, Claudius panicked, worrying that he had just left. But when Claudius glanced up from the bowl in his hands, the dog was still there. If anything, it seemed as the other canine was terribly afraid of Claudius. It struck Claudius as odd, but since the dog was a guest in AniWaya, he figured it made sense.
- Hadley - 04-01-2012
OOC sorry for short post Hadley watched curiously as a smaller bag was pulled out from the larger bag. He hadn't expected such a thing. He had figured that everything would be kept in one bag together, not divided up in such a way. Perhaps it was naive of him to think that way, not having many possessions beyond the blue ribbon on his arm. In fact, that was the only thing he owned, even the knife he was using borrowed from Grace. Obediently Hadley lowered himself to the ground, eyes averted to keep from challenging the obviously superior wolf. After all, he knew about carving, and had approached him asking what he was doing there. True, it wasn't the same stormy approach that had him terrified of Anatole, but it was powerful for him. The bowl was gripped in his hand as he looked at the bag with interest. Something was in there that could help him? That was interesting. What was it? .hadley2 .ft-ooc {font-style:italic;} .hadley2 p {padding:3px 20px 3px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .hadley2 b {color:#ff0000; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .hadley2 {background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3590/2 ... 0914m3.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:370px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:400px; text-align:justify; } .hadley2-border {width:402px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0px auto; } .hadley2 .ft-separator{width:250px; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; margin:0px auto;} </style>
- Claudius Aston - 04-01-2012

As the dog sat down, Claudius untied the knot that held his bag shut and rolled it out. He had a few tools held together to ensure they did not break. Although they were not incredibly delicate, their blades certainly were and Claudius was paranoid that they would dull. He had two chisels: one made of bone and one made of stone as well as a knife made of metal. The fourth item was the bone knife that Dawali had given him, but they would not be using that today. He then reached into his larger satchel and pulled out a smooth stone, his favourite, to use with the chisel.
- Hadley - 04-01-2012
OOC here! Hadley watched as the bag was rolled open. All kinds of knives with varying lengths and shapes were in there. It was an impressive collection. Even chisels were there. A stone was pulled out, and Hadley watched with curiosity, wondering what they would be using them for. His hand reached out, touching them briefly before looking up at the wolf, wondering what they would use it for. He nodded his head at the explanation. It was good that they'd be able to smooth the wood with this. He nodded his head, eager to watch how it worked. Hadley was afraid that if he tried the wood would end up chipped, large dents in the bowl instead of the smooth form that they were going for. Well, he was going for it. The wolf didn't have to, since he was probably already a very accomplished carpenter. Hadley was excited to learn about this, his rough attempt taken and turned into something good at the other male's hands. .hadley2 .ft-ooc {font-style:italic;} .hadley2 p {padding:3px 20px 3px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .hadley2 b {color:#ff0000; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .hadley2 {background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3590/2 ... 0914m3.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:370px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:400px; text-align:justify; } .hadley2-border {width:402px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0px auto; } .hadley2 .ft-separator{width:250px; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; margin:0px auto;} </style>
- Claudius Aston - 04-04-2012 Powerplaying Hadley giving Claudius the bowl, since I think he tried to earlier. XD Let me know if anything needs to be changed! c: WC: 349

The dog nodded his head as Claudius spoke, causing his fur to jump around and twitch every so often. The dog’s motions were quick and precise, as if he couldn’t wait for Claudius to continue and the need to nod was getting in the way. Claudius was proud that this fellow was so interested in what he had to say. He had never experienced this before – being the teacher – and so it was a new, but welcome emotion.
- Hadley - 04-04-2012
OOC here! The wood was taken, Hadley watching eagerly as it was placed down. There had to be a secret here, one he could learn to make his work better. The bowl was placed, pinned with the wolf's legs to be held steady. With the chisel and stone Hadley watched the bowl's rough bumps be smoothed away. Different angles and directions was taken, showing how it could smooth it. His hands twitched, wishing to try but awed at how good the bowl looked when done by someone who knew what he was doing at the same time. The smoothing paused, disappointing the large male momentarily before the offer came. He looked up, wondering if that was really what he thought it was. The tools were held out, and Hadley took them with care. He didn't want to damage them. The bowl was moved around, and Hadley did his best to mimic what had been shown. The movements were rough, but plenty better than before. A few gouges formed in the wood that he couldn't figure out how to fix, but it was smooth instead of lumpy now. .hadley2 .ft-ooc {font-style:italic;} .hadley2 p {padding:3px 20px 3px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .hadley2 b {color:#ff0000; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .hadley2 {background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3590/2 ... 0914m3.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:370px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:400px; text-align:justify; } .hadley2-border {width:402px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0px auto; } .hadley2 .ft-separator{width:250px; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; margin:0px auto;} </style>
- Claudius Aston - 04-05-2012 Powerplaying Hadley giving Claudius the bowl, since I think he tried to earlier. XD Let me know if anything needs to be changed! c: WC: 348

Claudius smiled in encouragement as he handed over the bowl and this tools, adding a nod in there just to be safe. He nodded once more as the bowl was placed between the dog’s feet as Claudius had done and as boy took the tools from Claudius – gingerly, he noticed – and began to carve away at the bowl. The boy was slow to work, but it was good: it meat that he was being careful, since the chisel could easily cut him or the bowl in ways neither of them wanted. Claudius saw a few lumps form, but he waited to see if the boy could figure out how to fix them. Although he was able to smooth out the bowl with more precision than the last time, it wasn’t perfectly smooth. Indeed, they would need a smaller, finer chisel to fix the imperfections. Trying to fix it with the big stone chisel they had now would be difficult. They would also probably want something rough to rub the bowl with, but Claudius didn’t have anything of the sort with him. Until then, they could probably rub down some of the bumps with the large chisel, but they would have to take it slow.
- Hadley - 04-05-2012
OOC here! The work was slow, moving around the bowl and removing the large pieces that got in the way. Each one was checked and rechecked, making sure that it was fine. Once satisfied he moved on, progress much slower than the wolf's had been. Told that a smaller chisel would be better for that Hadley nodded. Examining the bowl Hadley did his best to envision the tool, how he would use it against the wood. It would take a fair bit of work. A remaining bump was pointed out, and Hadley positioned the chisel with care. Once he was sure that he'd be able to get it Hadley struck down, only to find a large crack formed in the bowl. The lump was gone, which was very good, but he couldn't exactly fix the crack. Worriedly he picked it up, seeing how deep it went. It didn't go out the bottom, so the bowl was still usable. It would just never look nice now. .hadley2 .ft-ooc {font-style:italic;} .hadley2 p {padding:3px 20px 3px 20px; margin:0px; text-indent:35px;} .hadley2 b {color:#ff0000; letter-spacing:-.2px;} .hadley2 {background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3590/2 ... 0914m3.jpg); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding:370px 0px 10px 0px; border:1px solid #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#000000; letter-spacing:.4px; word-spacing:.3px; line-height:16px; width:400px; text-align:justify; } .hadley2-border {width:402px; border:1px solid #000000; margin:0px auto; } .hadley2 .ft-separator{width:250px; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; margin:0px auto;} </style>
- Claudius Aston - 04-05-2012

Claudius watched silently as the dog worked on the bowl. It looked like he had heeded Claudius' advice and was going much more slowly now, taking care to smooth out the imperfections. As the boy turned the bowl over in his hands, Claudius could see that it was looked much better. The edges were smoother, but still needed some more work. Apparently, the boy agreed, because he quickly set to work once more. He stopped suddenly and then held it up again. Curious, Claudius leaned forward in time to see a crack had formed. He tried not to let himself get too sad, since he knew he could fix this. He frowned as he contemplated, wondering how he might be able to repair it.
|
