Immediately, his companion pressed against his side, mewing words of comfort while eyes the color of sun-baked sand scoured the surroundings for a threat. The episode did not take long to end, however, as the wolf inhaled the scent of the marsh grass and cursed himself for weakness. His fists tore clumps of the vegetation from the earth, and he threw the packets of root and dirt in the direction of the sea.
The merchant only gave his head a shake and pushed himself from the ground. “We’re close to the packs. If they live by the water, so be it.” He growled and began to walk once again, his accent growing heavier as he spoke.
The tomcat sighed, trotting at his heels as usual. He remained alert for predators and prey alike, his whole body freezing at the sight of waterfowl landing in the distance, but Levent only continued to storm south. A river lay in the eastern distance, only further angering the Turkish wolf.

The truth of the matter was that Siv had undergone a retreat since the battle with the invaders. While she had made a point to gift Eris’ daughters and thus the Auxiliary herself, other projects had kept her from performing many tasks beyond those assigned. Working with the slaves was a tremendous undertaking, but she adapted to it well. While the man she had captured was utterly devastated by the news, she had soothed him with sweet words and the promise of protection. As long as he did was what asked, he would not be harmed—this simple concept was reinforced by the sight of Darijus and Siv’s warning story about his wounds. She would not do such a thing, but there were certainly others that would…and the threat was enough for Gjalda. Following the death of Verusha, the witch-woman had given Draugr slightly more freedom. She was allowed to do as she pleased but warned about the borders unless accompanied by another. Siv often suggested she spend time with Eris’ daughters, an arraignment that pleased her. If the now-talkative girl could find friendship with the leader’s children, she would be easier able to adapt to this life. With no memory of a world outside of it, Siv did not doubt such a thing would be simple for her. Today, though, Siv had needed a respite. Eris had been using the slaves for her fishing project and Sirius was in arms about the incident in Ichika, so a trip outside of their borders was one the Family member sought. With Hildr tacked, she mounted and rode north. It was a fast ride, one that invigorated both rider and horse. They slowed only when the horse scented an unfamiliar wolf and whinnied a warning challenge. While not in Salsola’s territory, the old nag was fiercely protective of “her” herd and did not enjoy strangers. #siv-thor { font-family:'times new roman', times, serif; font-size:14px; width:95%; margin:0px auto; line-height:18px; } #siv-thor p { text-indent:50px; padding:0; margin:10px 0; } #siv-thor p.siv-img { text-align:center; text-indent:0; font-size:11px; font-style:italic; float:right; margin:5px; } #siv-thor .txtooc { text-align:left; font-size:12px; font-family:georgia, serif; text-transform:none; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } #siv-thor .txtooc .word { font-weight:bold; font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-style:normal;} #siv-thor b { letter-spacing:-.5px; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 12px; } #siv-thor u { text-decoration: underline; } #siv-thor b.npc { letter-spacing:.5px; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } </style>
- Levent Kartal - 03-10-2012
Word Count → 532 Weakness deserved to be eradicated. That was the law of wilderness and bloodlust and power, and Levent knew he was no more than a deformed infant about to be culled. He wasn’t sure what he resented about that more, however: that he was weak, or that he had chosen a land locked in water to explore. It was all his damn fault, and it would be his damn fault if he couldn’t keep it together and one of the natives decided to kill him. He scowled as they approached the river, and scowled harder once they paused by its banks and selected a southerly course from there. The cat admitted defeat early when it came to placating his companion, but eventually Levent absorbed the scenery and interesting smells and naturally relaxed. The sound of a dominant whinny made his dark ears come forward, and a smile broke out across his lips. He ignored his friend’s warning, other than reaching down and out with an arm to let Wilson leap up and clamber onto his shoulders. There the cat sat, white tail serving as a momentary collar as he relented to the sociable canine. They hadn’t run into nasty folk so far, at least, but who knew what lies Amy had told the eager man about the packs? As far as Wilson was concerned, they could all be cat-chewing savages—and if he were luperci, he’d have no trouble wrestling Lev away from danger and forcing him to see sense. Not for the first time, he cursed his species. The chocolate-colored wolf only became more good-natured as the horse and its rider came into view. His greeting was unorthodox as he addressed the old, suspicious mare first; his ears spread to the side as he let out a low, throaty nickering sound to appease her dominance. It was not something a horse owner would do, as leadership over the horse was crucial, but he guessed he was near claimed territory and didn’t want a snapping horse to detract from his meeting with a fellow wolf. His blue eyes lifted from the appaloosa then, taking in the substantial sight of the large but leanly-curvaceous dark woman. She was clothed in purple and black, both cape and skirt catching his attention as they fluttered in the sea breeze. She was lovely, but the man managed to remember politeness and conversation before gawking, and he executed a low sweeping bow in greeting.

Wilson sighed and rested his head on his friend’s shoulder. .snakebottle-box {float:right; padding:5px;} .snakebottle .words {font-size:30px; font-family: 'Special Elite'; text-align:center; line-height:20px; padding:0px 5px 10px; text-shadow:#000000 1px 1px 1px; padding:10px 0px 0px;} .snakebottle {font-family:georgia, serif; font-size: 12px; text-align: left; margin:0 25px;} .snakebottle p.ooc {font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:12px; text-align:center; text-indent:0px; padding:0px 5px;} .snakebottle p.ooc + p {padding:0px 5px;} .snakebottle .wc {text-transform: uppercase; font-weight:bold;} .snakebottle p {text-indent: 25px; margin:0px; padding:5px 5px;} .snakebottle b {letter-spacing:1px; font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; letter-spacing:.05em; color:#000000; text-shadow:#ffffff 0px 0px 2px; font-weight:bold} .snakebottle w {letter-spacing:1px; font-family:georgia, serif; font-size:12px; letter-spacing:.05em; color:#ffffff; text-shadow:#000000 0px 0px 2px; font-weight:bold;} </style>
|
