The dusky air was soothing to the man, soaking through his fur and wrapping around him like a sultry lover. It was rare that Saul managed to indulge in these moments- he was often caught up in little projects that had been consuming his time, bonding with his son or trying hard to convince his bird that small animals like Temeraire and Ciaran were off limits for eating. For the most part, Temeraire was immune to Eirias' hunting- it seemed his son understood the bird perfectly and Saul would often find the two in some kind of conversation. He envied the boy, although he refused to ask him to translate or give the bird a message. It was relaxing, being out in the open, allowing himself to simply let go of thoughts that would otherwise overwhelm him. #artTXT { font-family:'trebuchet ms', tahoma, geneva, sans-serif; font-size:13px; width:95%; margin:0px auto; line-height:18px; } #artTXT p { text-indent:50px; padding:0; margin:10px 0; } #artTXT p.sieImage { text-align:center; text-indent:0; font-size:11px; font-style:italic; float:left; margin:5px; } #artTXT .txtooc { text-align:left; font-size:12px; font-family:georgia, serif text-transform:none; line-height:16px; font-weight:normal; } #artTXT .txtooc .word { font-weight:bold; font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-style:normal;} #artTXT b { letter-spacing:-.5px; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 12px; } #artTXT u { text-decoration: underline; } #artTXT b:before { content: open-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b:after { content: close-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b.npc { letter-spacing:.5px; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } </style>
- Lilin Soulstorm - 05-20-2012
(353) lala. Dusk’s pastel colors were reflected on the water and in the distance, the trace of a forthcoming moon could be seen. Her forlorn shadow fell over the water, rippling with the gentle current that carried away the daisy petals she’d absent-mindedly sprinkled over the surface moments earlier. It was a beautiful evening: the breeze felt just right, warm and refreshing as it ruffled through her windswept curls. Her days (and nights, if Eydiss’ arrival was taken into account) had been activity-filled; there had been little time to recover from the hustle and bustle until this very moment. Her dwelling had been thoroughly disinfected with leftover vodka and adorned with the little pelts she possessed. Some had been given away to the Godja, who’d been caught up with caring for their newest member. The first-born Soulstorm had a few left to spare, and she made a mental note to offer them to her half-sibling later on. Her attention was elsewhere, focused on the whirl of events that had led to Vinatta’s recent formation. An explosion could have gone off and she wouldn’t have noticed. Her mind was off in the depths of contemplation, racing and skittering along different subjects until Saul’s soundless approach was made manifest when his silhouette was mirrored by the water. Intuitively, his scent had been detected a few moments prior but it wasn’t until she got visual confirmation that she fully became aware of his presence. His hand briefly pressed against her waist, a prelude to the embrace that surrounded her entire body with his own. She couldn’t help but feel dwarfed by his considerable size; a sensation she would likely never grow fully accustomed to. “I’ve missed you too.” Her affirmation was genuine. They hadn’t spent time with each other recently and Lilin found herself thinking about him every night before falling asleep. She couldn’t shake the irrepressible tension in her body though. Something fueled it but she couldn’t quite pinpoint the cause yet. Her eyes squinted with mirth and amusement when her beau’s lick washed over her cheek, coaxing a giggle out of her lips. “Is Teme already asleep?” #lillin-1 .txtooc { text-align:left; font-size:12px; font-family:arial, serif; text-transform:none; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } #lillin-1 .txtooc .word { font-weight:bold; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-style:normal;} #lillin-1 b { letter-spacing:-.5px; font-family: arial, serif; font-size: 11px; }. #lillin-1 u { text-decoration: none; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; } #lillin-1 b.npc { letter-spacing:.5px; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } #lillin-1 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} #lillin-1 {margin:0px auto; width:80%; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/ijCRS.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 80px 0px 0px 0px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:11px; color:#111111; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.5px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Saul Stormbringer - 05-21-2012
He felt a grin stretch his lips upwards as she accepted his embrace- he thought she might have flinched especially since he'd crept up on her. There would have been a prelude to his arrival however and he welcomed the feel of her sinking back against him. She was so warm and comforting, although he thought he could detect some tension in the set of her shoulders. She didn't hesitate to return his sentiment and he gave a soft nuzzle to her shoulder, conveniently taking a deep breath of her scent at the same time. His lick aimed true and he smile as she gave a soft giggle. It was rare that she reacted as such- her giggles were few and far between, although Saul was pleased that he'd been able to obtain a few. Her question confused him for a moment, although he automatically squeezed her tighter for a moment before answering. #artTXT { font-family:'trebuchet ms', tahoma, geneva, sans-serif; font-size:13px; width:95%; margin:0px auto; line-height:18px; } #artTXT p { text-indent:50px; padding:0; margin:10px 0; } #artTXT p.sieImage { text-align:center; text-indent:0; font-size:11px; font-style:italic; float:left; margin:5px; } #artTXT .txtooc { text-align:left; font-size:12px; font-family:georgia, serif text-transform:none; line-height:16px; font-weight:normal; } #artTXT .txtooc .word { font-weight:bold; font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-style:normal;} #artTXT b { letter-spacing:-.5px; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 12px; } #artTXT u { text-decoration: underline; } #artTXT b:before { content: open-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b:after { content: close-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b.npc { letter-spacing:.5px; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } </style>
- Lilin Soulstorm - 05-24-2012
(419) She should have anticipated the response that came in reply to her inquiry. Their pack's Aeska were attached at the hip, despite a distinguished age difference. It wasn't bothersome to either of them, not yet at least. Lilin couldn't help but wonder if that would change once Elias came of age. Other priorities were bound to take over and inwardly, she hoped it would not be too much of a blow to Temeraire's confidence. ''I can imagine. He's been a real busybody lately. Did you see how clean the house was when you came home the other night? That was all his doing.'' she confessed, a hint of praise hazing her statement. She knew little about children and until recently, she'd felt rather unfit when it came to spending time with her companion's son. But as he grew and got older, occasionally initiating discussions with Lilin, that feeling had started to quell ever so slightly. ''I was just wondering,'' she blurted a little too rapidly, not knowing how to approach the source of her restlessness. It wasn't her place to demand knowledge of his past relationships; what she feared most was the possibility that he'd felt just as strongly about another female as he apparently did for her. These feelings were new to her; especially the carnal desire that never ceased to accompany his caresses. He'd experienced all of this before, which had obviously resulted in Temeraire's conception; however unconventional as it might have been. They'd known each other for nearly four new moons, which meant his son had been conceived not too long before the winter festival. Where was his mother? ''I have been well. We greeted a merchant at the borders while you were gone- a blonde girl named Amy. She came bearing gifts; a painting and some herbs. I honestly don't know what they're for- I figured you would know more than I do." she started, relaying information with a detached wave of her hand. It was news like any other. Nothing specifically important but it concerned their pack and as her co-leader, he had the right to knowledge; no matter how trivial the information was. A soft smile crept onto her lips as she recalled the brothers' open display of hostility. "Bran and Niernan surprised me. I almost mistook them for hellhounds at the borders. They were strangely overprotective. They reminded me of someone else I know." she laughed, tilting her head to nudge the side of his face in a mocking manner. #lillin-1 .txtooc { text-align:left; font-size:12px; font-family:arial, serif; text-transform:none; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } #lillin-1 .txtooc .word { font-weight:bold; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-style:normal;} #lillin-1 b { letter-spacing:-.5px; font-family: arial, serif; font-size: 11px; }. #lillin-1 u { text-decoration: none; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; } #lillin-1 b.npc { letter-spacing:.5px; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } #lillin-1 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} #lillin-1 {margin:0px auto; width:80%; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/ijCRS.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 80px 0px 0px 0px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:11px; color:#111111; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.5px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Saul Stormbringer - 05-24-2012
Their conversation started off on a strange footing. It seemed to be an unspoken taboo to speak about Temeraire, or it could just be that he never came up. Either way, the two hadn't discussed Saul's illegitimate son in any more depth that a passing, cursory request on how he was doing. There was a small part of him that was overjoyed that she had asked about his son, but another little bit of him was curious as to why she'd bought him up now. He tried, as he always did, not to over-think it, but it was hard when she threw him a curve ball like this. He supposed they had usually always been wrapped up in themselves when they caught rare moments like these. Still, he couldn't help the wide grin that caught his face as Lilin confessed to his sons cleaning. #artTXT { font-family:'trebuchet ms', tahoma, geneva, sans-serif; font-size:13px; width:95%; margin:0px auto; line-height:18px; } #artTXT p { text-indent:50px; padding:0; margin:10px 0; } #artTXT p.sieImage { text-align:center; text-indent:0; font-size:11px; font-style:italic; float:left; margin:5px; } #artTXT .txtooc { text-align:left; font-size:12px; font-family:georgia, serif text-transform:none; line-height:16px; font-weight:normal; } #artTXT .txtooc .word { font-weight:bold; font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-style:normal;} #artTXT b { letter-spacing:-.5px; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 12px; } #artTXT u { text-decoration: underline; } #artTXT b:before { content: open-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b:after { content: close-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b.npc { letter-spacing:.5px; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } </style>
- Lilin Soulstorm - 05-24-2012
(310) Lilin didn't know if she'd done the right thing in revealing Temeraire's secret, as he hadn't explicitely told his father about it. Perhaps he wanted Saul to notice. Regardless of his reasons, the boy deserved praise for what he'd done. She didn't blame her beau for not suspecting his son's good deed; most of the time, it was Lilin herself doing some extra cleaning to help her pack mates out. Although it wasn't expected or required of her, it was a habit she'd acquired while living in Hilsburn. She didn't mind it at all. Her sudden change of subject had been successful for a good moment. Verbally, he'd had no time to respond but his narrowed gaze spoke a thousand words. If there was one disadvantage to knowing someone extremely well, this was it: he could see right through her. She found it hard to swallow, wondering if he'd cut her off mid-sentence and force an explanation out of her. He didn't though, not immediately at least. She was both relieved and surprised when he admitted to knowing the blonde merchant. At least she was no charlatan - Artan was a healthy horse, and witchhazel was valuable as far as her knowledge went. Saul had acknowledged her teasing comment with a chuckle, leading her to believe she was off the hook. Victory was brief, taken from within her grasp when his gaze met hers with a strictness she hadn't anticipated. His voice was soft but it didn't stop her receivers from laying flat on top of her head. "I just-" she paused, visibly pondering the easiest way to make her feelings known. "Where is Temeraire's mother? Do you not love her anymore?" Why had they parted ways so shortly after their son's birth? It made no sense to her, even if she was a woman with very little motherly instincts. #lillin-1 .txtooc { text-align:left; font-size:12px; font-family:arial, serif; text-transform:none; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } #lillin-1 .txtooc .word { font-weight:bold; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-style:normal;} #lillin-1 b { letter-spacing:-.5px; font-family: arial, serif; font-size: 11px; }. #lillin-1 u { text-decoration: none; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; } #lillin-1 b.npc { letter-spacing:.5px; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } #lillin-1 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} #lillin-1 {margin:0px auto; width:80%; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/ijCRS.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 80px 0px 0px 0px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:11px; color:#111111; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.5px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Saul Stormbringer - 05-24-2012
He could see an almost triumphant look in Lilin's eyes and he almost grinned at her. She was fooled if she thought she'd got away with that swift change of subject. He allowed it for a moment, but he had no intention of leaving her company tonight without getting it out of her. His body still pressed against the back of hers, his arms snaked around her waist in a comfortable embrace and he felt a sense of rightness in the pose. She fitted so easily against him, it was like she was made to be there. For a moment, he allowed himself to enjoy the embrace and the solitude that being up here gave them before his eyes narrowed and he asked her what was wrong. He might as well come straight out and ask it- there was no point in beating around the bush. #artTXT { font-family:'trebuchet ms', tahoma, geneva, sans-serif; font-size:13px; width:95%; margin:0px auto; line-height:18px; } #artTXT p { text-indent:50px; padding:0; margin:10px 0; } #artTXT p.sieImage { text-align:center; text-indent:0; font-size:11px; font-style:italic; float:left; margin:5px; } #artTXT .txtooc { text-align:left; font-size:12px; font-family:georgia, serif text-transform:none; line-height:16px; font-weight:normal; } #artTXT .txtooc .word { font-weight:bold; font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-style:normal;} #artTXT b { letter-spacing:-.5px; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 12px; } #artTXT u { text-decoration: underline; } #artTXT b:before { content: open-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b:after { content: close-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b.npc { letter-spacing:.5px; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } </style>
- Lilin Soulstorm - 05-25-2012
(471) It took quite a bit of effort to situate the location and timeframe of his story, as well as the people involved. She'd expected a brief, volatile answer from her beau. But this was extremely detailed; not only depicting Temeraire's mother but another female known as Siku. It was an influx of information far too great for her to assimilate immediately; Lilin had to latch onto key words to keep her head from reeling too much. She did not look at him as he spoke, her mediterranean gaze fixated upon the water ripples instead. It was easier to avoid facing him, keeping her own emotions from reaching him as he spoke. The Soulstorm heir hadn't expected his story to involve a second woman, with whom he'd felt a strong level of affection. While his intentions were innocent enough, admitting to having never loved her was a double-edged statement. It made her question their relationship and the degree of fondness they shared. Was it love? If he'd been fooled once, who was to say he could not be fooled twice? Lilin did not meet his gaze when he'd turned his head to take a look at her. She merely listened, her ears perked and alert with apprehension. An answer to her second question came shortly thereafter, resembling the first response he'd provided her with. As much as he'd never loved Siku, he'd never loved this Imari either. She finally understood what he'd meant that day when he'd referred to Temeraire's conception as unconventional. As comforting as all of this was, she couldn't help but anguish over the mere fact that they'd also gotten physical while heavily under the influence. Lilin did believe him to a certain extent, having experienced it herself in his company. Alcohol certainly must've had its share of responsibility, but the fact that he'd referred to the whole ordeal as being taken advantage of coaxed a cynical snort out of her maw. "We weren't exactly sober when we kissed either but you knew what you were doing, Saul." Had she taken advantage of him too? She calmed when his story became about Temeraire and how he'd been pawned off to his unexpecting father. A relieved sigh passed her lips too soon because she was in for another surprise. Nayru had saved the Aeska's life after giving birth to her own son. What Saul didn't know was the fact that she'd foretold the death of Kahlo and gotten into a verbal scuffle with the expecting mother only a few days prior. Lilin shut her eyes then, remembering how corrupt of a person she'd been just a few months ago. There were plenty skeletons in her closet; she could make an inebriated Saul look like a saint, and she couldn't blame her deeds on alcohol either. "Thank you for telling me." #lillin-1 .txtooc { text-align:left; font-size:12px; font-family:arial, serif; text-transform:none; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } #lillin-1 .txtooc .word { font-weight:bold; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-style:normal;} #lillin-1 b { letter-spacing:-.5px; font-family: arial, serif; font-size: 11px; }. #lillin-1 u { text-decoration: none; border-bottom:1px dotted #000000; } #lillin-1 b.npc { letter-spacing:.5px; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } #lillin-1 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} #lillin-1 {margin:0px auto; width:80%; background-color:none; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/ijCRS.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:none; padding: 80px 0px 0px 0px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:11px; color:#111111; line-height:16px; letter-spacing:.5px; text-align:justify;} </style>
- Saul Stormbringer - 05-28-2012
She did not look at him as he spoke, but Saul hadnt expected her to. The information he was giving her was something he wasn't proud of but it clearly affected his belle and he wanted her to know about it. He'd made some mistakes in his life, but he'd also got a wonderful son out of it. Temeraire would never know his mother- he'd been too young to remember anything but the faintest of impressions of different arms holding him. While Saul and Teme didn't display obvious closeness, they were bound tightly together in their quiet and easy ways- they did not need fancy displays of love and respect to understand one another. His son was very easy to live with and he was glad that he hadn't received more of his mothers loud mouth and attitude. #artTXT { font-family:'trebuchet ms', tahoma, geneva, sans-serif; font-size:13px; width:95%; margin:0px auto; line-height:18px; } #artTXT p { text-indent:50px; padding:0; margin:10px 0; } #artTXT p.sieImage { text-align:center; text-indent:0; font-size:11px; font-style:italic; float:left; margin:5px; } #artTXT .txtooc { text-align:left; font-size:12px; font-family:georgia, serif text-transform:none; line-height:16px; font-weight:normal; } #artTXT .txtooc .word { font-weight:bold; font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-style:normal;} #artTXT b { letter-spacing:-.5px; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 12px; } #artTXT u { text-decoration: underline; } #artTXT b:before { content: open-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b:after { content: close-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b.npc { letter-spacing:.5px; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } </style>
- Lilin Soulstorm - 05-30-2012
(383) As most would say, females had the uncanny ability to interpret situations presented to them in whichever way they saw fit. Lilin was no exception - if anything, she had mastered the art doing so as an ego defence mechanism. It was better to brace oneself for negativity and not be caught by surprise, as opposed to having high expectations and consequently be victim to frequent heartaches. A flawed reasoning, perhaps, but it had saved her on many occasions. As an added bonus to all of her womanly traits, heated discussions very easily ignited her histrionic sense of pride. Saul's overall demeanor generally appeased her soul, providing the peace of mind needed for her to keep calm. In situations like this, however, where he too found it difficult to remain impassive; Lilin instinctively responded with the same level of irritation he exerted. His growl was greeted with the parting of her maw, half-revealing her above row of pearly whites as a physical retort to his reaction. It wasn't enough to even be considered a snarl; her lip had barely curled and it twitched lightly with the flurry of emotions seen in his green irises. Her jaw quivered and closed when an explanation reached her receivers, one she assimilated in silence as he pivoted her body in his direction. She allowed him to do so without protest, although her gaze remained defiant. Determination allowed her to hold it there; even if his proclamation nearly caused it to falter and divert away. They were both young, filled with foolish strength of will. She remained silent for a moment, struggling to find a suitable reply. Anything she could have said was redundant, in a way. He knew the feeling was mutual; she wanted him too. The icy tinge in her eyes melted with the unexpected brush of his tongue against the tip of her nose. She recoiled momentarily, unsure of how to bounce back from the surprise brought about by his touch. Lilin thanked him then and accepted his nod; it was the closure needed for them to move on and she wouldn't push it further. A shaky exhale abolished the last remnants of her frustration and she responded to his soft caresses by furtively giving his chest a compliant lick. His growl had been a combination of frustration and disbelief in what his belle had said. He understood insecurity more than most, he understood the inner workings of the mind when it through an all manner of thoughts out and everything someone said was twisted. Green eyes flashed softly when he caught the instinctive opening of Lilin's mouth, the slightest quiver of her lips that threatened to reveal her teeth. Inwardly he smirked- they'd never come close to a proper argument and he could almost imagine them coming to blows over something stupid. A growing part of him felt excitement at the thought- they would be unable to do any real damage to each other, but the fighting would more than likely relieve some of the tension between them. He'd swung her round to face him and he could see the steely defiance in her eyes. #artTXT { font-family:'trebuchet ms', tahoma, geneva, sans-serif; font-size:13px; width:95%; margin:0px auto; line-height:18px; } #artTXT p { text-indent:50px; padding:0; margin:10px 0; } #artTXT p.sieImage { text-align:center; text-indent:0; font-size:11px; font-style:italic; float:left; margin:5px; } #artTXT .txtooc { text-align:left; font-size:12px; font-family:georgia, serif text-transform:none; line-height:16px; font-weight:normal; } #artTXT .txtooc .word { font-weight:bold; font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-style:normal;} #artTXT b { letter-spacing:-.5px; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 12px; } #artTXT u { text-decoration: underline; } #artTXT b:before { content: open-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b:after { content: close-quote; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 15px; } #artTXT b.npc { letter-spacing:.5px; font-style:italic; font-weight:normal; } </style>
|
