She was supposed to go to Wolfville to check out the scenery and see if she could find anything worth using. She remembered she was here once before, and she met Hotaru, she believed. Peculiar woman. She was so handicapped, but yet so independent. When Axelle offered her help, she wouldn’t take it. She figured the woman didn’t want to look stupid and needy, but Axelle didn’t mind helping someone in need. Maybe that was it- she didn’t want to look like she needed anyone either. Axelle mentally shrugged as she walked down a dirt road of the very country town. She remembered she came here once looking for clothes, but everything here was just so not her style… As she thought about clothes, the sound came to her ears. The sound made her look to her left where she saw an emaciated stallion running around in a fenced in field. Why he didn’t try to jump the fence, she didn’t know, but the horse definitely looked stuck. She immediately wanted to help the lad, and she knew she already needed a horse. If she could catch this one, she would be in business. Axelle moved calmly over to the fence and watched the large creature run around in the field. His body, when it wasn’t malnourished, would be perfect to pull the large wagon she found in Halifax. As she watched the horse snort and gallop around the field, she thought of all the wonderful things owning a horse would bring her. An eager smile erupted on her face as her eyes followed the handsome brute. She slowly went into the locked gate, and closed it behind her. She didn’t want him getting away on her. She slowly approached the area where the horse stood, she guessed taking a break from all the running, but as soon as she neared him, he stomped his foot and took off running away from her. She repeated this process a few more times, having the hope that he would come to trust her. Her theory was shitty, and he didn’t trust her not one bit. The horse continued to avoid her advances to him, and after a while Axelle stopped. She leaned against the fence near the gate she entered before and watched the horse. She thought about what she could do to get him to come home with her. She hadn’t any type of experience with horses, let alone catching them. She wished she knew a little bit; that way, she could catch him, bring him home, and feed him. That way he would know she was good because she saved him. She thought about the possibility of staying there the whole night, sleeping in the middle of the field with the horse running around her; maybe he would come to trust her then. She would be vulnerable on the ground, and if he wanted, he could kill her. It was a big risk that wasn’t worth it, but it was the only one she had in mind for making the horse trust her. Axelle continued to lean on the fence, focusing on a plan to capture the animal. Axelle’s eyes followed the shire horse as it weaved through the tall grasses in the field. Whenever it seemed to run into a fence, it would rear and run the other way. The horse seemed stubborn, but every now and then it would stop and stare at her like he needed to see why she was there just watching him. Every now and then he would run rather close to her, but never stay in the same spot for too long. Axelle didn't have a clue as to how she was going to get this horse to slow down enough so that she could grab his reigns. The horse did have a chewy looking headpiece on, and it seemed it wasn’t there for long though. The bit in his mouth had to have been rusty and uncomfortable, probably causing a slow infection. Maybe that was the cause of the horse’s overall discomfort. She tried calling to the horse in low-speech, but he wouldn’t give her an answer. She found herself leaning beside the gate for hours, watching the beautiful stallion run around the field. She lost herself in thought here and there, but when she heard someone clear their throat, she jumped slightly and turned. She saw a male on top of a large stallion that looked much like the one she was trying to capture in the field. ”Hello there. Do you have any experience with capturing horses?” Her eyes settled on the large horse that carried him. There was no doubt he knew something about wrangling the animals- but it was always better to ask than assume. She looked back at the stallion running around the empty field, giving an occasional neigh. She turned back to the stranger and his horse, ”I’m Axelle, nice to meet you.” Then she looked down at the horse’s face and told him the same in low-speech. She was capable of speaking to both of them, so why not introduce herself to both of them. ”Do you think you can help me, sir?” He seemed like a well enough man. His energies were in the right place and the feeling he gave off didn't seem to be malicious. She thought she could trust him with helping her with this small task. The stallion continued to rampage around the far end of the field, not coming near either of the wolves or the other horse. He continued to run as far away from them as possible, stopping here and there to catch his breath and eye the two at the opposite end of his ‘cage’. He snorted loudly, swishing his tail behind him. Axelle’s eyes continued to follow it, but she made no efforts to attempt to capture it anymore. She figured Alder would know what to do, and she would leave him up to it. His question confused her a bit; maybe because it threw her off guard. ”Charged? No, not yet anyway.” She smiled awkwardly at him, ”I haven’t been able to get that close to him.” The Marbas was good at fighting, not wrangling. If she needed to fight off the horse, maybe then she would be a little more sufficient in her task. Axelle eyed the rope in his hands watching how he knotted it, or tied it, into a loop that seemed would fit around the large horse’s neck. She backed away to let the man enter the enclosure and her head followed him as she watched what he would do next. ”Do you need me to do anything?” He would catch the horse for her, but she didn’t know how to be helpful. She sure didn’t want to be useless, and she wished there was something she knew how to do in a time like this. Something that would help, preferably. Axelle didn’t say anything else; she just nodded and watched as the man confidently walked into the enclosure. The horse stood as far away from them as he could and kept a watchful eye on the man coming towards him with the rope. Axelle watched as Alder spread his arms, kind of like an eagle’s wing span, and kept walking toward the stallion. Then he signaled for her to do the same. Axelle’s nerves tensed and her heart raced just a little bit. It was her time to shine, and yet she was a nervous wreck. She hesitated for a moment, but she soon carried out the task anyway. She took a moment to calm herself, which made her blood pump a little slower and her head feel less woozy, and then walked out into the rest of the field. When she neared the two, she opened her arms wide just as Alder did, her fingertips pointing outward as if to make herself seem bigger. She kept herself closer to the other side of the fence, but the gap in between them was still not wide enough for the horse to comfortably escape through. It would make him pass too close to either of the wolves, and thus probably make him extremely uncomfortable. It would be a daring move if he did so. As the two wolves closed in on him, the horse seemed to become more uncomfortable. He stomped a hoof and snorted a few times, while still keeping a watchful eye on the two. He neighed loudly here and there, which instantly made Axelle nervous. She wasn’t aware that what they were doing was so that they would appear bigger to the already huge stallion, and she didn’t want to get ran over by the brute. She suspected it would probably hurt, a lot. The black and white Marbas kept a close watch on what Alder was doing. She watched the male creep forward to the horse, and whenever he paused, she would too. Then he would start creeping toward the cornered horse, and she would slowly follow in the same stance she kept from before. Both of their movements were steady and careful to not show the wrong expression. The horse seemed to calm a bit more, and at least he wasn’t snorting or stamping his hooves anymore. Alder said something to the horse that made Axelle’s head snap in his direction. It was in a tongue that she couldn’t understand, but it interested her a lot. The horse seemed to understand him and calmed a little bit more. Now he just stood there alertly looking at the two wolves approaching him. The second thing he said to the horse, she understood. He used low speech that time and she followed what he said and nodded with caring eyes at the large creature. Then she spoke up herself, telling him that she only wanted to help him. That she would just take his rotting bridal off, and then if he wanted to come with her, she would feed him like a king. The two crept up to him closer now, but the horse didn’t seem threatened anymore. He didn’t seem stressed out by their presence and he actually seemed tamable for the moment, which was probably only an assumption. She secretly doubted that actually getting him to come with her would even be the slightest bit of easy. Alder was good. She would have never gotten the horse to calm himself so quickly as he did. Axelle watched him quickly rope the horse, without much protest coming from the stallion. She fell silent and watched as the dire moment came – but nothing. The horse didn’t try to flee or attack them. He simply stood there looking between the two. As Alder encouraged her to go take his rusted bridle off, Axelle hesitated. She took a deep breath to relax her nerves and carefully walked over to the beast, all the while sending him calming low speech messages. Her hands carefully worked on the warn straps of the bridle, and in a few seconds she pulled it off of his face. There were lines from the evil contraption imprinted in the fur on his face. Axelle tried to pet some of it away, but none of it budged. A good bath and brushing would clear that up, hopefully. ”There… Now you won’t have to suck on rust anymore…” She knew the horse wouldn’t be able to understand her, but the tone of her voice should have been calming enough. The bridle hung loosely in her other hand and she threw it on the ground to her side. The large horse whinnied in appreciation and thankfully didn’t try to run from them anymore. The animal seemed to calm down a lot since the bridle was removed from his mouth. He just stood there while Axelle gave his nose love. He snorted here and there, but otherwise didn’t do anything hostile. Axelle turned to Alder and gave him a big smile. ”You’re a genius. What would I have done without you?” Though, it wasn’t over yet. Somehow she was going to get him to come home with her. Hopefully, it would be easier now than before. The rope still hung loosely around the horse’s neck, and Axelle figured she would lead him home with that. She stood back and looked the horse over. Everything about him looked fine except for the fact that he was a little bit skinny and that there might have been an infection growing in his mouth. "Of course. As soon as we get back to Anathema." She would have to take him to a more experienced healer back in the pack lands. She was sure there had to be one around somewhere… Axelle turned back to Alder and smiled at him. Then she stepped away from the horse and faced him. ”Is there anything I can do for you? To return the favor, I mean.” She knew nothing was free, and she appreciated this wolf’s help. She wanted to let him know that if he was ever in need of something, that she would be there to help. She took the rope that hung off of the horse’s neck, and led him towards the gate and closer to Alder. The pair stopped just before him, and Axelle stood, waiting for an answer from the man. She wouldn’t mind returning his favor. He helped her obtain a beautiful stallion, much like his own, and he would become a companion to her for a considerable amount of the rest of her life. All because Alder had the heart to reach out to her and help her catch him. The thought dawned on her… What would she name him? Her mind wandered as she stood before the man, and the stallion calmly standing beside her. No problem.” Then she turned to walk out of the enclosure, hearing him bid her luck behind her. She turned and smiled, and worked her way toward the gate. When she passed through, the shire gave Hawthorne an unhappy snort – as they were males and they had rivalries. Axelle tugged him harder along, not giving him enough time to start with the other. She bid Alder’s horse a farewell, also, in low-speech, and her own horse seemed to have come to some sort of realization. Axelle didn’t plan on riding him home, having little riding experience herself, but she was the daring type. There wasn’t anything that she was unwilling to do, and so she hoisted herself upon the horse’s back when they were a good distance from the others. She sat there nicely, and even though her companion didn’t seem too happy with it, she cooed him with low speech and persuaded the gesture. He snorted in defeat, and the two raced toward their home.
