All welcome! Don't even worry about matching the length if you don't want to.
Word Count: 700+ The break of dawn shattered its honey golden light over the lands through sparse traveling clouds, stirring awake both creature and terrain. Temperature was in the mid-forties, slowly rising as the day progressed forth, but of course not enough heat to where the grounds of fresh powdered snow would melt entirely from the previous week of flurries and snow. The call of distant birds twitched a fine ebony ear, raised from its slumber against the soft plane of the female's skull. Exhausted silver eyes slowly opened, at first squinting and hurting from the piercing light of the day. She did not know at what point she fell asleep, but she definitely knew one thing as to why she decided to crash early the previous night: long overhaul of travels. Her paws would be considerably sore in the days, perhaps weeks to come; not something that would disappear over night with a considerable amount of sleep, there had been too much wear and tear made on this perilous journey to this point. Still, the female wasn't one to complain in the midst of sore appendages. At least she was finally able to get a sound sleep through the night, a step forward in reassurance of belonging once again to something that had seemed forgotten or perhaps even impossible to reach again. Shrouded in her Lupus form, the dark ball of fur recoiled from its snug state curled up as a ball amongst a dry spot underneath a tree she happened to dig out the night before. Snow cushioned all around her. Slumber came swift for her, as the contact of her dugout instantly put her in a spell of sleep for the rest of the night; Caliber was indeed exhausted. The frost of the morning decorated her fine black coat with crystalline droplets, caught sparkling in the sun's rays. Sinewy forelimbs stretched to their breaking points, and a drawn out wolf yawn escaped her jaws. Giving a quick shake of her head, the Craven rose to her four paws. Wincing slightly, the pain of travels was a pain to mildly tolerate for quite sometime now. But you won't have to worry about the pain lingering for much longer, you've finally found a place to call your home... Giving a full body shake now, the rush of morning air filled her lungs, giving her zest to look forward to the coming day ahead. With that, a small smile of reassurance and pleasure stretched the corners of her black maw, grateful to see that at least this morning was a morning to where she could wake up to recognizable lands. She could feel there was something rather different about these lands. Something that was on an entirely different wavelength. The leader whom accepted her along with Catherine at the borders spoke about divine spirits that lingered in these lands. Spirits that either made themselves invisible or known. Caliber had been anxious to see something jump out at her last night, give her an invisible tap or even a not so nice scare, but didn't see or hear anything. As far as feeling went, there definitely was something, but that feeling was something Caliber couldn't put a paw on. She fell asleep last night with the last thought of how the spirits would be able to reach out to her. The leader, whom didn't address her name, said that they worked on their own terms, and it could take time, or perhaps none at all. Caliber however did want a spirit to make contact, whether it was her own or something else. This was the guidance she needed for a life long spent in confusion and coping. She felt she needed something like the spirits more than ever now. Seeing as she was now fully awake, the three year old began to trod in the snow, leaving apparent tracks behind and heading more inland through AniWaya. Today was a new day, a new beginning. Much to explore, much to learn. These tribal lands seemed so vast that Caliber really didn't know where to start. So many new smells tingled her nose, scents and aromas alike, as well as new sights, new calls, new customs. As much as her paws ached from traveling, her inner spirit and enthusiasm pushed her forward to continue walking forth. Simple aches couldn't be worried about now, there was much to get done. Not for the fact that she was aimlessly walking, but now walking about for a purpose. To accustom to her new home, her new life. Today would be the start of that accustom, and as Caliber began walking in her darkly coated silence, silver eyes roving in curiosity and interest among the land, she could only wonder what new concepts and new lessons could be able to stimulate her mind and senses. - Dawali Amara - 03-01-2009 [html]

Thank you, Akello does great jobs on sets! I like Dawali's character, everything about him seems to fit him and he seems so realistic. Word Count: 610
Caliber's mind was just as wanderlust as her own paws, silently mulling to herself on what challenges she would have to face in these new lands. Right now she felt more comfortable in her Lupus form than in Optime, although it was probably the formal thing to do around here for one to be in Optime form (judging from her encounter with Catherine and the leader, there were perhaps prosperous Luperci that embraced their multi-talented sides of themselves). Not to say that her own Optime form was useless, but it was more of a lingering and lost comfort to be in her Lupus form. Makes me feel like i'm home again, in a strange sense. I'm empty inside, but it comforts me... sometimes. I know I shouldn't be doing this, though. Funny how her mind had a mind of its own, as there were plenty times in the past where she found herself arguing with some invisible subconscious buried deep within the throes of her psyche. Both the rhythm of her paws and mind halted, ears swiveling and liquid silver eyes locked upon a great figure in the distance progressing forth toward her. A tilt of her darkly coated head was given, at first confused by the calmly approaching sight. Indeed her nose smelled both equine and werewolf. Coming from a place where it wasn't likely to see both equine and werewolf (or wolf, for that matter) roam in harmony, Caliber actually stood stark and stunned for a second. And indeed, there was a werewolf riding up top an equine toward her path. Odd sight to her. To think that one was more incline to hunt equines than use them as a method of transportation, Caliber was stunned yet intrigued by such a pair. As the two were now in close proximity, the flicker of her ebony tassel behind swayed in friendly greeting without her knowing. With the initial feeling of bedazzled by this strange pair to her, at the same time, a feeling of relief. Seeing that the werewolf was exotic colors of red, rust, and gray, Caliber took note about how tasteful and full of hues he was. Seems like those whom Caliber had met so far had interesting colors, patterns, characteristics about themselves here. Even while the leader, name not given to Caliber, whom accepted her in these lands, was the same hue as Caliber herself, there was yet something mystic and exotic even on herself. Little ol' me, plain and boring, as if I don't fit here whatsoever... Surely Caliber was indeed her harshest critic on just about anything. Seeing as how this male was also rather quite lanky as soon as he hopped off his companion, a small smile flitted on the female's dark jaws. He was attractive enough with all of his unique characteristics and colors, and was mildly surprised at his lighthearted icebreaker toward her. Not to say that she was expecting him to be harsh or rather rude, but perhaps it had been too many moons since Caliber was truly in some pleasant company. Dawali was his name, quite fitting for his image. Casting her silver eyes over to the equine and then back to Dawali, her small smile began to spread into a more pronounced one. "You're right, I am new here. I'm Caliber." Her reply was not shy, but rather soft. "I'm not used to seeing equines in the company of Luperci." She made note of that vocally, motioning her muzzle to his companion. "Where I come, i've never seen such a thing. How have you formed such a... bond like that?" Caliber felt quite awkward about asking that, but her inquiry revealed that she in fact didn't experience such a spectacle before. - Dawali Amara - 03-03-2009 [html]

Ears soothed by the welcoming of his voice onto the lands, Caliber kept a ginger dark smile plastered and strong on her muzzle. “Thank you.” For such tribe members to be so cordial and pleasant was something only told in tall tales, in stories, in morals that should exist but were never to be found. In the time and era of this world, tragedies were the most common of news. Family tragedies were the popular ones, some family member going out of their mind and causing havoc to those whom they deemed they would cherish and love and raise the right way. For awhile Caliber believed there was some sort of invisible virus going around, a sickness that gave them the mad disease and cause destruction to everyone in their path. Aniwaya was like a taste of an impossible heaven on earth in the making, Caliber soon declared, and even while she was recently new, felt that it was a deep duty within her to protect these lands and their ways with every fiber of her being. The flinch of memories that Dawali took a second to reflect on did indeed pass as invisible to Caliber’s attention and instead quirked a fine raven ear forward at Dawali’s explanation of such a bond that occurred between him and the equine. He made sense with saying all horses still held true to their wild natures, but even so, the tamed and domesticated ones were still a stunning amazement to the Craven female. “Yes, seems like those with two legs are less of a threat than those running around with four and on the hunt.” Caliber made a statement, agreeing with what Dawali explained. Sliding her gaze over to Bella, Caliber wished to outreach slender digits in order to stroke her on the nose, but in such a form as her Lupus figure, that couldn’t be accomplished (and Bella probably wouldn’t appreciate a heavy stroke from a rough paw either). Instead, Caliber offered a small smile toward the horse, unknowing if it would truly recognize her friendly gesture to it or not. For a second she wondered if there would be any equines out there that would be tame to her. “That’s so interesting to know. This whole place doesn’t seem like its true. I mean, not to sound rude, but I’m still trying to get used to things here. There seems like so many new customs I need to learn and explore.” Her silver eyes roamed beyond Dawali and Bella over the lands around them, and then right back to Dawali. Dawali seemed like he was an individual who was all knowing, wise, keeper of the secrets that this land held. There was a certain aura about him, Caliber couldn’t put her paw on it, maybe it had something to do with a certain enigmatic quality. That’s how Catherine and that leader felt to her, too. She had felt quite awkward at first with talking to tribe member about so many questions that were out of the ordinary, but there was something about Dawali that made him seem understanding, a presence that you could conform in. Speaking of how the horses could choose their own companions, the thought about spirits and the spirit guides instantly came to mind. “Can the spirit guides choose a person as well, like the horses?” It seemed as if her question was asked by a curious juvenile, intrigued by the world around her. “Catherine and a leader spoke about spirit guides, and spirits who help you along in these lands…” Trailing off, Caliber didn’t have anything more to ask for she was quite informed about this whole spirit thing, and figured Dawali would be some assistance to this. - Dawali Amara - 03-07-2009 [html]
