- Rikka de le Poer - 11-30-2009 [html] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/ ... kkaban.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> set at the Occasus Promontorium, one only please. 300+ Since she arrive back in Inferni Rikka had spent almost all her time hanging around the caves. She had felt the need to get all settled in before going and doing any sightseeing or exploring. Today when she woke up though she really registered that the cave was "home" and so it seemed like the perfect time to go out and see more of the territory. Making sure all of her belongings were tucked safely into her den she walked out to greet the day. As soon as the sun hit her pelt a smile lighted her face. The bright being put her in a happy mindset that kept her worries and concerns at bay (her mother's acceptance of slavery being among the forefront of those) and she would simply enjoy this day. On a random whim she started in a northeast direction, her long legs easily carrying her over the clan grounds. It didn't surprise her that the majority of the territory seemed to be flat and open. Thinking from the perspective of a clan member it was a good strategy if they wanted to avoid intruders; there was simply no place for anyone to hide around here. Though it wouldn't be hard for a traditionally colored coyote to disappear through here, the colors of the grasses mimicking that of a coy pelt. Rikka's back held some of this coloring, but for the most part her golden fur stood out. It wasn't a problem though, she was a member here and so had no reason to want to avoid being seen. After a good jog the hybrid came to a very pleasant area. The sun made the place shine with warmth and there were mountains off in the distance. Without even seeing the other areas of Inferni land she knew that this would be one of her favorites. The Haight had given her the name Sunflower for a reason, she adored the sun and this place was right up her alley. Yellow eyes spotted the various flat rocks and she decided a sun bath would be just lovely. The de le Poer walked over to the closest one and hopped up on it, her body sprawling out over its warm surface. A contented smile etched her lips as her eyes closed, wanting just to feel. - Halo Lykoi - 12-03-2009 [html] http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/l ... dreams.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> She had seen the stranger from afar, seen the content smile on her lips as she walked and turned her face towards the sun. Halo was already seated next to one of the more boulder looking sun rocks and had instantly ducked out of sight when she had seen movement. This place was usually deserted and the hybrid girl had spent a pleasant afternoon with a few of her well trained pet rodents. The girl rested her back lightly against the rock that granted her temporary invisibility as long as the other canine did not draw too close to that particular spot. Halo’s smile was long gone now as she picked up Seventeen and ten, one in each hand. Number two was sitting pleasantly on her shoulder as it always did when she walked around with it. ”Company, eh?” the girl muttered in low speech while letting her thumbs gently stroke the critters’ backs. The copper haired hybrid poked her head slowly up from her hiding place and was pleased to see that the stranger had found a rock and seemed to enjoy the start of her sunbath. Lithe like a cat, Halo approached and left her hiding spot behind. She took notice of the light’s breeze’s direction and positioned herself accordingly so that her scent could not be registered. Her feet slowly and elegantly treaded on the soil without emitting a single sound. It went so well that the young Lykoi actually had to grin a bit. Her hard work had definitely improved her skills after all. Ten feet away and the young girl did no longer care to push her luck. She lifted her arm and threw poor Seventeen at the sunbathing stranger; aiming for the golden coyote’s face. - Rikka de le Poer - 12-04-2009 [html] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/ ... kkaban.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> 300+ The surface of the rock having already been warmed by the sun was a wonderful contrast to the cool air and it warmed Rikka to her core. Sunbathing had always been a favorite activity of her's and that had only increased when she had gone to live in the commune. They would all get together and spend hours just laying under the sun, talking and picking shapes out in the clouds, smoking, laughing. Those memories would always be among her most treasured and the woman felt an ache for the place she had called home before coming back to Inferni. There were still many doubts she had about returning and she hoped that they would fade instead of getting stronger. The Haight was a long ways away and traveling in winter wouldn't be a good idea. She hoped her restlessness would fade and she would become content with where she was. She was so comforted by the warmth she felt on her belly and her back right now though she felt herself starting to drift off to sleep. That was, until, something hit her face. What the hell?! Immediately Rikka stood up and shook her head, making sure nothing had attached itself to her. When she was certain nothing was on her she looked down to see a dazed rat. Now, the last time she checked, rats didn't fly, nor did they go and attack canines. One paw moved to hold the rodent down carefully near its head so it couldn't turn and bite her. Then she looked up to a girl who had another rat in her hand and one on her shoulder. One brow raised curiously, having never seen such a sight. The Chaos Star on the other's chest indicated they were relatives. "Is that any way to greet family?" she asked. "Unless of course you were trying to give me a snack." The paw holding the rodent down pulled it closer to her. It was obvious that hadn't been the intent and if this was some kind of pet maybe she would think twice before throwing it at someone again. - Halo Lykoi - 12-05-2009 [html] http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/l ... dreams.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> 300+ - Rikka de le Poer - 12-18-2009 [html] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/ ... kkaban.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> Sorry, this is kinda crappy :| 300+ True, the girl probably hadn't known she was family for she didn't wear the red star as many of them did. Rikka had never felt the desire to inscribe anything into her skin and even if she had the Lykoi star most likely wouldn't have been among her first choices. She wasn't ashamed of her family but she knew she was one of the black sheep of the clan. Even if she hadn't been family though, she was a clan member and throwing rodents at one another was both childish and rude. She hadn't a clue what had possessed the other to do that, but she did have the curiosity to find out. Lykois were often cruel to outsiders but she had never seen such hostility within the clan before. Something changed in the girl when she pulled the rat closer to her, but she couldn't quite catch what it was. Still, she didn't ask for the creature to be released and so she would hold onto it until she got confirmation that it was in some way important to the younger hybrid. Golden eyes watched as she set the other two rats down, perhaps trying to hide whatever it was that Rikka had caught a glance of, and then turned her attention back to her. "I'm Rikka de le Poer, Gabriel's sister." She had yet to come face to face with her sibling, but since he was the Aquila she thought that he was the best chance at a familiar name that the girl would know. She could have said that she was Kaena's daughter, but at the moment Rikka didn't want to think about the woman or what she was doing with the poor slave girl. At the moment she would much rather associate herself with her brother. - Halo Lykoi - 12-25-2009 [html] http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/l ... dreams.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> 300+ - Rikka de le Poer - 12-27-2009 [html] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/ ... kkaban.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> 300+ The younger hybrid seemed curious of her, and it did not surprise Rikka in the least. She was an oddity when it came to Inferni, and it wasn't because she looked mostly like a wolf. Of course right now the other probably wouldn't know of the way she viewed the world and how she felt about the things that the clan was built upon, but there was a gut feeling that the younger one would not approve. Few in her family did. Apparently her half-brother was similar to her and he was living here, so maybe they had became a bit more accepting of different viewpoints, at least when it came to family. Still, the woman knew she would never be a prized member of Inferni or one that anyone could be proud of. She was fine with that though. If she were one that the clan could take pride in then she wouldn't be her. Finally the girl showed some emotion and asked to have the rodent back. At first Rikka thought she might be putting on some kind of show, but as the moments ticked past she could see that she was truly upset about this. She saw the apology on the other's face and after another minute she lifted her paw and allowed the creature to scurry away from her back to her owner. "I only got back a few days ago," she said. "You should be careful who you throw your pets at though. Many around here would have killed it without a second thought." If she really cared that much about her rodents she should handle them with more care. The woman had never really planned on doing the rodent harm. She wouldn't kill something just to prove a point. "So, who is it I have the pleasure of meeting?" she asked, a bit of a sarcastic hint in her voice. - Halo Lykoi - 12-29-2009 [html] http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/l ... dreams.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> -- - Rikka de le Poer - 01-02-2010 [html] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/ ... kkaban.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> SoSuWriMo 452 Golden eyes watched as the rat returned to its master and had to stifle a small laugh as it bit the hand that had so unceremoniously tossed it to its possible demise. Rikka did not think that any creature was stupid and so she was not surprised to see the rodent react to its treatment in such a way. If you did not treat others with respect than they would not treat you with it. That statement didn’t just go for other canines, but all creatures. Even the ones that she hunted for food she respected. The hybrid only took down old or sickly animals, never going after young or healthy ones, and she never made them suffer. She ended their lives as quickly as possible and thanked Mother Earth for the meal and prayed that the prey would find peace after death. It would do the younger Lykoi well to learn such a lesson. Rikka watched as the other inspected her injury, but it appeared to be nothing serious, only a nip. She knew if they were bad such bites could be quite painful, but that didn’t seem to be the case this time. All the girl needed was a lesson in manners and her pet had given that to her. If she would heed it though, that would remain to be seen. It appeared that the other held no interest in what the world and Rikka were trying to teach her. She supposed she shouldn’t be all that surprised. Anyone who would throw their pet at someone in the first place obviously didn’t have much care for the creatures around them. It was still odd though, to treat another clan member in such a way. Behavior like that from a clan member to a wolf or hybrid outsider wouldn’t surprise her in the least. In fact having a rat thrown at them would be the more pleasant of many other things the inhabitants of Inferni would and could do. However such disregard and hostility was usually reserved for outsiders and for the most part they treated each other with respect at the very least. Maybe the girl was just a rebellious teenager. The older canine would give her the benefit of the doubt. As Halo replied to her question it appeared that she was meeting her niece. Hadn’t Kaena said that she had a niece around? That little tidbit did seem to stick out in her mind. “I see. Where is Vitium nowadays?” She was vaguely aware that her brother had been outcast for some reason, but the details of it escaped her. Either way she didn’t have the same disdain for the male as many of the clan did. - Halo Lykoi - 01-02-2010 [html] http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/l ... dreams.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;">

If she had known what it was she would have had mixed feelings about it. Saving a wolf from her family was something she probably would try to do, though she would not actually take up arms against her kin. His banishment was not something she would argue, but she still would not have harbored her sibling the hate that the rest of the Lykois did, if for no other reason than almost no being on earth held her hate. There were things and individuals she disliked, but they did not make her feel such powerful and all consuming a thing as hate. It was hate that she saw flicker in her niece’s eyes though. Unlike her reaction to the rat being held, her reaction here was not at all hard to see or discern. There was a deep loathing of the man who had sired here and of course Rikka could not help but to wonder why. Halo’s response should not have been surprising given the fire in her eyes, but it was still surprising to hear someone express such disdain for their parent. The hybrid had issue with both of her parents, true enough, but she would never hate them even if she did hate some of the things that they had done. Without them she wouldn’t exist, and she owed them her thanks for that if for nothing else. Rikka owed Kaena and Ahren her existence, just as Halo owed her’s to Vitium. “What did he do, to cause his daughter to loathe him so?” she asked as she sat and wrapped her tail around her paws. Perhaps this topic was one best dropped, but the curiosity would eat away at her if she didn’t inquire as the reasoning behind the girl’s reaction. Something was clearly there and if she were to understand her niece at all she needed to know what it was. - Halo Lykoi - 01-05-2010 [html] http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/l ... dreams.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;">
SSWM 504 - Rikka de le Poer - 01-10-2010 [html] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/ ... kkaban.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> SoSuWriMo 480 If possible Halo’s eyes hardened even more and while the next response was long delayed the woman knew better than to try and interrupt the younger canine’s train of thought. This meeting was already going poorly and annoying the girl further would do nothing to help things. So Rikka watched her niece curiously trying to decipher her. She didn’t think she’d ever met another creature that was so young and so full of hate and anger. Perhaps Gabriel had been, but her brother had been witness to truly horrible events and had spent time alone when he should have been surrounded by family. Had similar events befallen the hybrid before her? Was that why her heart was so constricted? It almost hurt the peaceful fey to see someone so consumed by negative feelings for she had never been close to being in such a state. She had felt anger before and resentment, but never to such high degrees, and while she didn’t always agree with her parents she did not hate them and would never purposefully do anything to cause them harm. When her niece finally replied to her query Rikka listened to the answer and began to digest it. Unsurprisingly she did not find the reason for Vitium’s banishment so repulsive as his daughter did. Rikka didn’t let that on though, knowing such an admission would bring her nothing but trouble and likely the same kind of loathing from the girl who stood before her. The second thing though, well, that was certainly something to despise. Rape was a thing that Rikka could not abide. No one should take a thing that should only be given. Then to steal the children away from the mother, that was even more heinous. It was curious though that Halo only referred to her supposed mother as a “wolf”. For one it meant the girl was not as coyote as she appeared. In fact she would be even less coyote than Rikka. Secondly though while she seemed to hate her father for stealing her she seemed to hold even less sympathy for her mother, probably by simply being a wolf. It was clear to her now that Halo was the perfect little daughter of Inferni, something the woman found more sad than anything else. “I suppose that would be more than enough reason to hate him.” She was referring mostly to the rape and the stealing, but Halo didn’t need to know that. “Still, if it weren’t for him you wouldn’t have the extended family that you do. Perhaps you can thank him for at least that.” It was clear that she held her Lykoi blood in high regard and if not for Vitium she wouldn’t have that. This notion might enrage her niece more but it was just the way that Rikka looked at the world, always trying to find something positive. - Halo Lykoi - 01-14-2010 [html] http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/l ... dreams.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;">
-- - Rikka de le Poer - 01-14-2010 [html] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/ ... kkaban.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> HALO IS CONFUSING HER :| SoSuWriMo 312 The rage in the younger girl seemed to be boiling over and Rikka wondered if she had pushed too far. She really hadn't meant to pry into subjects that Halo did not want to discuss. If she had been told to stop asking about Vitium and what he had done she would have without resistance. It wasn't knowledge she had needed, she had simply been curious. The words that were spat at her surprised her and her brows knit together in confusion. All this time the hybrid before her had seemed to be a proud Lykoi and Infernian; she had the star tattooed on her chest for all to see. Yet now she was pointing out all the horrendous flaws that of course Rikka knew existed, she had only been veiling her own problems with the family because Halo had seemed to take such pride in her blood. Now it seemed she despised it. "I did not mean to offend. I only said that because you seemed to be proud of your heritage. I know well the sickness of our blood." The apology was genuine, though whether or not her angry niece would accept it she couldn't say. It seemed that they were doomed to be set at odds. Golden eyes looked at Halo cautiously, wondering if what she said next would make things worse or better. From experience she could only guess worse, but the woman didn't know what else to do. "You don't have to stay here if you aren't happy." Rikka hadn't. It was out in the world that she had found herself and come to accept what she was. She could sense a similar and yet different battle raging inside the hybrid before her and first hand she knew that distance would help. All she could do was to talk though, it was up to Halo to listen. - Halo Lykoi - 01-26-2010 [html] http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/l ... dreams.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;">

The young female said nothing as the golden hybrid apologized. She knew well that she had stepped well over several lines now, but she did not know how to minimize the damage done to their first impressions. Silence danced between the two women for a moment before Rikka spoke again and she felt no better. Only traitors left and she would not become her brothers and relatives. Those who turned their backs to Inferni did not deserve second chances in the young Lykoi’s eyes. Her face did not twist into a horrid grimace though, for some control seemed to have been found at last. ”I’m loyal to my clan and my family,” she replied, shifting her weight and trying to gain some of the extra size she should have had according to her wolf blood. ”It would make me a traitor of Inferni.” she added, letting her own view of such a decision come forth more clearly. - Rikka de le Poer - 01-27-2010 [html] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/ ... kkaban.jpg); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"> Figured this was an okay place to draw to a close. 300+ Just as soon as Rikka thought she had a grip on her niece's true feelings they seemed to suddenly change again. So she derisively called them madmen, rapists, and murderers and yet she was loyal to them? Thought that any that left the clan were traitors. Perhaps if the de le Poer had felt more pride in her blood the indirect attack on her character would have bothered her, but it was in actuality little more than a tickle in her mind. Some would think her a traitor for various reasons, she had accepted this and did not worry over who would find her acceptable and who would not. Yellow eyes studied the girl again curiously, trying to decipher what the cause of all these switches in opinion were. It was beyond her grasp though. Halo was an enigma and trying to figure her out would not help either of them at the current time. There was one parting piece of advice she would give though. Rikka was highly doubtful that Halo would accept them and the younger hybrid might even find them deplorable, but for her it was the truest thing she knew. "Until you can find happiness in yourself, you will never be happy here. Or anywhere else." The metallic woman had searched long and hard for her inner contentment and it had finally come to her. Still, until it had, no place had suited her for she could not even find peace within herself. With a sigh Rikka rose back to her feet and jumped gracefully off the rock to the ground. Her gaze swept back to Halo for a moment. "Once again, I apologize if I offended you." That was all she could say, and so with that she turned and started back in the direction of the caves, leaving the girl to her own thoughts and devices. |
