The moon had already completed a whole cycle and Nayru was still not fully integrated into Dahlia de Mai. The cow patterned pup had accepted those that lived in Conor’s home as her replacement family, and Dahlia de Mai as her pack and home, but that did not mean she was truly a Dahlian. Nayru felt that she could not possibly be truly a member of the pack until she actually knew the others that lived there. All the others. Nayru had met a large amount of them, but some were still just scents that dotted Dahlia’s landscape. What was the point of the pack if not unity? Yet Nayru had already gotten the impression that souls passed through quickly, rarely becoming attached and staying long. Consciously she knew that she would never be able to know or get close to all the members, most would leave before she ever got the chance to do more than meet them. That knowledge did not deter her. Instead of slipping out of Conor’s home in silence as usual she lingered, smiling and taking note of the other’s morning routine. Even though not everyone appeared that morning, a few missing faces out of the nine were barely noticeable. Yet the black and white splattered child did not stay there long. Nayru already knew them, they weren’t her targets today. After a satisfying breakfast, still caught by the adults of the home rather than by herself, she moved out. Her half grown paws, still tiny in comparison to the adult version, took her towards the harbor. Instead of moving through the shadows and underbrush like a ghost, as was her custom, she took slow and deliberate steps through Wolfville. Her movements were obvious and purposeful, her stride slow, just in case anyone wanted to catch up to her. Reaching Ila harbor Nayru slowly walked to the edge of one of the docks. Four legged she stood there, staring out into the water. No one had intercepted her on the way here, and the idea that she didn’t have to glide through the pack lands like a wraith suddenly struck her. Perhaps no one really cared; they all went about their business and cared little for what happened with the others in the pack. Perhaps Dahlia de Mai was just home base for all of them, they had no real attachment. Maybe she should actively seek them out? Nayru thought this was the best idea, but first some time to herself. With a dejected sigh she let her body collapse into a heap, in the manner of a grizzled old dog at the end of a long day, her front paws dangling off the dock and a few inches from the water below. Staring out at the water made her tired and she let the lids of her cherry eyes slide shut and in no time at all she was asleep. |

pssh, your post is totally good~
Meeting all the members of her pack hadn't ever been a priority for Tokyo. When she was newer, it mattered more; it was important to impress and suck up to those that were higher than you. She had been far less driven now that she was effectively the second highest ranking member of the pack. The trickle of members disappearing had done far more for her status than Haku had ever been able to do. So there wasn't really that many wolves left that she cared to meet.
Besides, it wasn't like she had oodles of free time anymore. Even though King was growing older, and needed her less constantly, raising a son was still a full time job. He still liked it when she hunted for him, and for once Tokyo didn't even mind it. She enjoyed the pleasure that her kills brought her son. She supposed eventually she should suck up some to Conor, but he hadn't been much more than a mewling puppy until very recently, and now there was all the fresh bitterness and uneasiness she nurtured over the whole Haku incident.
Her paws had felt restless, though. After letting King know she'd be gone for most of the day, she took her favorite hike, following the coastline west from her den and enjoying the various gradients of beaches that she passed. The skies threatened rain, but after surviving the storms of winter she wasn't too dissuaded by the potential of getting a little wet. All it meant was that she'd have to spend a few hours tidying up in her den at some point shortly after, which honestly was one of Tokyo's favorite things to do ever anyway.
Her ice blue eyes caught on a small form at the end of a dock. Had she really made it all the way to Wolfville already? Amazing how quickly the time raced by. The small form was lying prone, and the first thought that crossed her mind was that maybe it was dead. Curiosity dragged her to examine it closer. No, it was breathing. And a puppy. She looked younger than King, but that didn't necessarily say anything about her age as King was distinctly big for the scant... five months he'd been alive? Wow, had it already been five? Tokyo nudged the sleeping form with her nose, vaguely interested in talking now that that goal was not very difficult to achieve. .tokyo001 b {font-weight:bold; color:#ecd5b1; letter-spacing:1px; } .tokyo001ooc {font-style:italic; padding:0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#838279; text-align:right;} .tokyo001 p {text-indent:25px; padding:5px 10px; margin:0px;} .tokyo001 {margin:0 auto; width:365px; background-color:#02020c; background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v463/ ... kyo001.jpg); background-position:bottom center; background-repeat:no-repeat; border:1px solid #ecd5b1; padding: 0px 0px 220px 0px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size:12px; color:#838279; letter-spacing:.3px; word-spacing:1px; line-height:12px; text-align:justify;} </style>[/html]
