300+ words. Puppies~His day was another lazy one, wandering the pack territories from his home at Lunenburg into the other regions. He was starting to wander more frequently, to broaden his horizons, to learn more about the land around him. Of course, it wasn't really a learning experience. He was just satisfying his curiosity. It was quite a trek he had made, coming closer to the grotto on the other side of the region. His toes were hurting now, but it didn't stop him from chasing the lingering grasshoppers around the ground, farther away from his comfort zone, his rusty-red tail waggling behind him. Pounce, hop, pounce. Another one got away, leaving him huffing and losing heart.
The area he looked at while taking a break was different, not really anything like his home near the edge of the Shattered Coast. It still smelled salty, a little familiar, but the scents were new and he liked it. They tickled his nose, making him smile, causing his tail to wag even faster. His little, oversized paws crushed the dying grass underneath them, his brown eyes scanning the ground before him. He was prone to tripping, something he would rather avoid. Ever since he tripped the day he met Niro, his toes didn't bend right and his feet hurt more easily, but he was too young to know what it was to worry about things like that.
When the cabin came into view, he was surprised. Someone actually lived out that far? Unless it was abandoned, which was ignored because of the fresh smells of other beings nearby, it was a strange place to have a house. No one was really close to it. Of course, no one was really close to Lunenburg either, and he relied on the people he met in his daily wanderings to find friendship. The placement was still puzzling to him. Hesitantly, he neared the cabin and poked around, sniffing at the ground and grass. "Weird place." It was a statement more than a question, but a loud one that wasn't really purposeful. It was, to him, very weird.

He continued to sniff, his mind preoccupied, when a squeaky voice hit his ears. A girl's voice. He turned his head around to try and see her, his eyes finally landing on a little mass of grey and cream. It was a little girl. Gross. His muzzle wrinkled up some. "Wha's so weird about my home?" That's what she had asked, probably in relation to his own outburst. Kambujiya hiffed slightly. "Lossa things. Who're you?" He hadn't seen her before, and he had wandered all over. Curiosity reigned as he continued to stare, watching as she scooted away from the wall of the cabin. She was small in comparison to him, something he found quite funny. She seemed to be startled, and he felt proud that he had such an effect on someone he hadn't met before, not realizing that he seemed so large in comparison. Head held high, he trotted a bit closer, staying a safe distance from the cabin itself. He hadn't been able to interact with any other children since the fox had chased him and his siblings from their dungeon, a fact that he was disappointed about. Vigilante had promised more puppies when they had talked. Of course, maybe this was one of the puppies he had promised, which meant that King Vigi hadn't lied to him. He felt a swell of relief as he realized Vigilante hadn't tricked him, quickly replaced by the returning curiosity. Eagerly, he inched closer, forgetting the pain in his toes for the time being as he wondered more about her. "I'mma Kam."
-300 words Haha. <3 They totally are. With a stretch of his front legs, he introduced himself and waited expectantly for her to give an answer in return. His tail wagged, thudding against the ground as she stood her ground near her home. He was happy to finally be faced by someone who was his age, and it showed in the way his tongue lolled to the side and the speed of his tail as it shook his body around from wagging enthusiastically. "I's Arnette." He was surprised when she gave him her own name, preluded by a sigh. Arnette was a nice name, something that sounded easy to say and sounded pretty. Like a flower or something that smelled good.
He sat firmly, looking up towards her from his position as his fluffy tail continued to beat the ground like a drum, crushing the little dying pieces of grass beneath it with each swift movement. That was, until Arnette voiced a question that made his movements cease. "Who'r your mama an' papa?" It rang hollow in his ears, bringing his mind back to the missing mother he had all but forgotten. His ears flattened out sadly and he turned his nose to the ground. "Ain' gotsa papa. Momma go'd 'way. I'mma live wit' King Vigi, mmhm." He nodded for extra emphasis, but his mournful posture didn't cease for a few seconds longer. Then, as if it evaporated miraculously, he shot up. "Does you like birdies?! I see'd a big birdy an' it was big!"
The male fidgeted as he spoke, bubbling over with excitement at the prospect of having a new esteemed colleague. She still seemed suspicious of him, on guard even, but the pup didn't notice. She was smaller, probably younger, but the pup didn't notice that either. All he saw was another pup, and that was all he needed to be excited for the day. While he rattled off information, his mind was in a flurry. What should they do, what should they talk about? Vigilante was mentioned first, though she called him 'Uncle Vigil' instead of 'King Vigi'. It made Kambujiya frown, briefly, and tilt his head. The whole idea that he could be called anything else was confusing, but it disappeared as soon as the birds were brought up again. "I like birdies. They tweet, it's cute." The male pup grimaced. "This one was big, not cute! It hunted with Niro. I wanna has a bird." He puffed up proudly, as if it was a status symbol. As was often the case with children, the topic changed as quickly as a fire burned, from the King to birds and finally to playing. Her little tail started to wag as she asked if he enjoyed playing games. His ears perked up. "Games? Kinna games?"
The idea of owning a bird was a magnificent one in the eyes of the pup, as much as the thought of being a Knight like that unknown Haven. Arnette didn't seem too fazed, though she didn't seem to know about the bird at the same time. "Unca Niro has a bird?" The rest of her words made the male pup snort hot air through his nose. "Why you want a bird that tweets? That ain't a bird. That's food." He huffed, his tail twisting around his haunches as he gave her a grumpy gaze. If he was going to have a bird like Niro, he wanted it to be a big bird like Marahute, not some tweety bird he saw sitting in trees. Those weren't interesting birds; they were stupid birds.
His excitement rose when he realized he was going to get to play a game. It had been something he had looked forward to for, well, as long as he had been staying in Lunenburg. Of course, it all depended on the type of game. He grimaced at the idea of playing a little baby game, like he used to when he lived with his mother. But she didn't offer up baby games. "Me an' my brofer play chase, an we resle too. You can do those!" He grinned joyously, tail thumping against the ground loudly. "I likea wrestlin'!" He jumped to his feet, body pitching forward into a post meant to play.
The fact that she was so small didn't cross his mind for a moment, but he stood straight after he really looked at her. "You is kinda small. You sure you won' getta hurt?" His good ear fell back uneasily.
