Entering Into the Light (J)

Caedres' dug his paws into the wet earth, crunching the soil between his claws. A female was approaching, and it wasn't in a playful or friendly manner. Not overtly aggressive, but curt none-the-less. His body posture tensed, automatically readying himself to move in any direction in a split second. He had been in too many fights to be caught off guard with this much advanced warning. Her scent... was relatively clean. She must have just bathed. His tail rose slightly, along with the heckles on his neck.

"It seems everywhere I've been lately has already been claimed."

He sighed and shook his head, gray eyes focused on what was probably a border guard. Her fur was slightly darker than his and it was obvious she took care of it. Whatever pack she was part of did not have to live from meal to meal. He was tired of traveling from occupied territory to occupied territory. Maybe...

"What pack has laid claim here?"

He had a plan. It was simple, blunt, and perfectly fit the timberwolf. Offer to fight the strongest wolf of the pack, and if he lost, he would just go. If he won, he would ask to stay with the pack for a few months. His lean body looked smaller and weaker than it really was, his dark fur hiding the well toned muscle groupings. He even let a little of his fatigue show in his body posture. In instances like this, it was eighty percent bark and twenty percent bite. He might not have the loudest bark of any wolf... but his enemies remembered his bite.
