The broken clock is a comfort

Sorry for the wait! Exams are now done, and I'm off for the summer! Woohoo! And it wasn't hard to follow at all! ^^

The ebony lines on her face, not too different from the ones that sprang from the page, spread now, like ink running across an ivory canvas. A sheepish smile took on a life of it's own, turning into one of pride and gratefulness. True, she had become carried away with the shapes she could control, she could create on her small canvas, but to know that the end result was good in the eyes of the best artist Ghita had met, that gave her hope. Even if it looked like Ghita's talent at hunting would take a back seat for a while, she could cling to the notion that what she was creating here was good, a new start. Something she could control, if not her leg's healing.

Still, there remained huge obstacles to defeat, to leap over and clear with effort. Following the auburn finger to where the ivory gleamed up at them, the fae nodded, eager to see just what else she could learn to do. Listening to the instructions, she took them to heart, wondering just how she'd go about drawing actual things. All she'd learned how to do were lines, and that was only taught minutes earlier! Confusion could prey on the fae's mind all it wanted; Determination would win each and every time.

A circle would be easy enough to draw - she'd hunted beneath the warm eyes of the sun and moon often enough, frequently referencing them for navigation. She knew the shape well enough, and felt that it would be easy enough to draw. Needless to say, her first try was far from successful. The line itself was straight enough, with only a few wobbles here and there, but the general shape looked as if someone had taken the moon and kicked it, before returning it to the sky. Frowning, Ghita's eyebrows furrowed, the perfectionist nature kicking in.

Attempting a second time with more success, now that she grasped the general idea, drawing the circle was much easier. This result resembled more of a watermelon than a perfect orb, but then again, Ghita had plenty of time to practice. Drawing two more on the page, Ghita let a small smile of triumph creep in, the circles becoming more and more round each time. But there was another shape that Mati had instructed her to draw - a box. A much easier obstacle, she drew two lines quickly, each spaced out about an inch or so from the other. Then, a line connecting the tops, and another one connecting the bottom. The shape was copied twice more, as had been done with the circle, before Ghita sat back, showing her drawings to Mati. "Like so?"
