The party was coming to life as more and more people arrived. The pack members were all gathered in smaller groups in the large ballroom. Ruri, of course, still stood by Heath, talking with Princess and Haven. As the Chance woman complimented her appearance the blind collie felt her cheeks warming as she blushed. She was used to Heath telling her that she was pretty, but getting compliments from so many people was making her far more self conscious than normal. "Thank you Princess, I'm sure you look lovely as well," she replied, soft-furred hand moving up to fix her hair. She quickly recognized her nervous habit and stopped herself not wanting to give away her anxiety over the occasion. For some reason this time felt different than her previous performances. She had sung for many groups of people in her lifetime, but for some reason having to sing in front of her entire pack was making her unneasy.
Fortunately for Ruri someone broke the ice first. Strelein and Zafier started playing, and then shortly after someone started singing. It did not take Ruri long to realize who, for the feminine, French voice immediately struck her as Ayita's voice. Her voice was beautiful and Ruri savored every moment of the song. While Ruri loved to sing herself, listening to other people sing was something she enjoyed with similar affection. Half-folded ears perked eagerly as her packmate sung a truly lovely song. The fact that Ayita had just jumped up there and started singing immediately alleviated Ruri's anxiety. After all Ruri had done just that several times before and she had been fine. The fact that she had even worried made the blue merle woman chuckle slightly to herself. When the song was complete Ruri couldn't help but clap her hands in applause of her friend's performance. Meanwhile she leaned over towards Haven. "Looks like it's our turn next Haven," she whispered encouragingly, hoping to at least prepare Haven for what was to come next. She would give Ayita lots of time to bask in the praise due her performance, then when the stage was free she would head up with Haven to perform the song they had practiced.
