The slender male nodded, his mind drifting somewhere else for a moment. Anu had described Artemis' rambunctious nature in an interesting way, saying that the precious little girl would give them all a few gray hairs. He was deeply touched by the way his leader had spoken, for her words held reassurance that his children had more adults loving them than he sometimes realized. He was filled with a warmth toward the gray lady, and all of the Crimson Dreams wolves, for that matter. He and Savina certainly provided their children with plentiful love and strength, but the little ones had virtuous beings all around them. Anu was on the top of that list.
All the while, the Colonel smiled, to himself and to Anu. He knew the tawny-shaded woman must be nervous about her unborn pups — all first time mothers were, weren't they? Kansas simply hoped that she would remain aware of his and Savina's presence, now and after her children were born. They would be there for their dear friend and her puppies no matter what happened. They would help her keep them safe, as was their unwritten obligation as pack wolves, and as Anu's companions. He had never realized what a wonderful family Crimson Dreams made; never so intensely as he did now.
The slight tilt of the Commander's slim face told him she was perhaps still pondering what she wished to christen her children. He was very eager to hear what she had come up with, though — and when she spoke, his ears swiveled up and toward her. How beautiful, he said softly, thoughtfully. The names of trees. The idea was unique and yet it was spectacular, very fitting of the thoughtful woman. He thought he may have been able to guess she would select such names. I can't wait to meet them.
