He came toward her quite suddenly, and her eyes widened. What had she done to invoke such a reaction from him? She had only asked a simple question! Ember didn't have to actually use her weapon very often and was hesitant about using it unless she really needed to. Maybe she could run away, or find some way to escape him or lock him up.
He lurched toward her and she pulled the weapon from its sheath, the sound of its distinct ringing filling the air. Ember held it up in front of her, swinging the blade so that the flat end of it was toward him. It wouldn't cut him too badly unless he moved very suddenly, only hopefully disable him for a bit. She didn't want to kill him or anything. She attempted to strike him over the head, bringing the weapon down hard against the side of his skull.
